Could you make a five minute movie in just 48 hours, without knowing in advance what the topic was or even what props you were allowed to use? 87 teams did at the first SCI-FI-LONDON 48 Hour Film Challenge this month, competing for a chance to be screened at the film festival ahead of the world premiere of Chemical Wedding .
Yesterday evening, your humble SFX editor was in illustrious company for the judging of the final shortlist. The panel: Director John Landis (An American Werewolf in London), Ken Jones (SCI FI Channel), Philip Ilson (London Short Film Festival) and actress Emily Booth (Evil Aliens).

Our task? Select the best three from the shortlist of 10. It was hard: despite the limited conditions, many of the entries were of amazing quality, displaying all the production values of professionally produced movies. To find out the results, be sure you attend SCI-FI-LONDON on 30 April to 4 May 2008 in London's Apollo West End cinema.
