Resident Evil: Operation Raccoon City actually won't be getting an early 2012 beta

Remember when we said that Resident Evil: Operation Raccoon City would be getting an early 2012 beta? Well, you see, here's the thing. We, um... because they, um... well, you see...

Yeah, it won't be getting one. Capcom has come out and confirmed that, despite rumors stating that there would be, there's not going to be a beta after all.

The Capcom-Unity blog posted a note from the games' PR today, stating: "There has been some media coverage this week stating Capcom will run a public beta and release a demo for its upcoming title Resident Evil Operation Raccoon City. Unfortunately this was due to a website misreporting what was said during an interview."

Though they do go on to say that, despite the lack of a beta, there will be "plenty of opportunities for fans to play the game before it releases on March 20 in North America and March 23 in Europe." They don't say exactly what those opportunities are going to be, but we're pretty damn sure they won't be as easy as kicking back and hitting the download button on Xbox Live or the PlayStation Network.

So, yeah, sorry about that! Hopefully you weren't too excited about playing in a pre-release beta for Resident Evil: Operation Raccoon City.

Oh, what, you were? Well, too bad, what do you want us to do? We don't make the games, we just tell you about them and make fun of them.
