It is time to grab some Devil Fruit and set sail because The One Piece is only a few months away. That's right: the new anime from Netflix is almost here, and it will tell a fresh version of Monkey D. Luffy's quest to become King of the Pirates.

However, if you are a longtime fan of the rubber-limbed captain, you may be wondering what The One Piece really is and how it affects the other One Piece series (aka one of the best anime of all time) as well. After all, the first One Piece anime has been around since 1999 and is still ongoing. Then, on top of Netflix's new The One Piece series, the streaming service also has a live-action version of the iconic show, just to make life a little more complicated when it comes to keeping track of all the pirate-related shenanigans on the platform.

Basically, the wacky world of One Piece is pretty convoluted right now, which is why I've put together a handy guide here. Below, I answer all your questions about The One Piece as well as explain what it is and how it affects all the other One Piece shows currently airing. So, if you are ready to join the Straw Hat crew and get your bearings, read on, folks.

What is The One Piece?

The One Piece is a brand new reboot of Eiichiro Oda's manga One Piece that will be released sometime in February 2027 on the streaming service Netflix. That means it won't be a one-to-one remake of the other, ongoing One Piece anime, which is over 1000 episodes at this point.

WIT Studio (from Spy x Family and Attack on Titan fame) is helming the upcoming anime, and president and CEO of the studio, George Wada, has made it clear that the choice to make The One Piece a reboot is that, from a modern audience perspective, the sprawling story of the manga can now be told in a more structured way.

"The original manga has advanced much further than it had when the TV anime first began," Wada stated in an interview with Mantan Web . "And today we have a much clearer understanding of later developments and of the characters themselves. From that modern perspective, we're rebuilding it again from Episode 1... We are taking on a reboot, not a remake."

It should also be noted that The One Piece will not be replacing the original series but instead is serving as a separate adaptation of Eiichiro Oda's manga. So if you are still keeping up with the Elbaph arc release schedule, don't worry, that series isn't being abandoned. The One Piece is simply a new option for fans to experience the story from scratch, and probably avoid the pretty long list of One Piece filler episodes, and some multi-episode fight scenes that (let's be honest) can drag down pacing quite a bit.

The reboot will also have seven episodes for its first season. That may seem like a relatively smaller episode count off the bat, considering the original anime's first season had 61 episodes in total. However, The One Piece's episodes will have a 40-minute runtime each in comparison to the original anime's typical 24-minute runtime, so really we are going to be getting jam-packed episodes here.

Do I need to have seen the One Piece anime to watch The One Piece?

Good news folks, you don't have to watch the original One Piece anime to make sense of the upcoming reboot.

The One Piece will be adapting Eiichiro Oda's manga from the very beginning, meaning that there won't be any major story details missing that will leave you confused or (excuse the pun) lost at sea. Of course, if you want to sail on ahead after season 1 of The One Piece, you can jump into the original anime to carry on with the story immediately. However, rest easy knowing that both follow the manga.

Also, none of the One Piece movies are strictly canon either. So you really don't have to watch any other One Piece content if you don't want to alongside or before the reboot comes our way.

What chapters are being adapted in season 1 of The One Piece?

The One Piece will adapt the first 50 chapters of Eiichiro Oda's manga for its first season. That means we will roughly be near the end of the Baratie Arc by the final episode.

Chapters 1-50 still put us firmly in the East Blue Saga; however, it doesn't finish it. In fact, there will still be two complete arcs left for us to cover, and we will also need to wrap up the Baratie Arc as well in season 2. From the confirmed chapter count, though, we do know for sure what Arcs will be in the upcoming anime, and at least the season will be introducing us to most of the main players in terms of the Straw Hat crew.

In season 1, we will see the Romance Dawn Arc (chapters 1 to 7), where Luffy meets Zoro, the Orange Town Arc (chapters 8 to 21), where we meet Nami, and the Syrup Village Arc (chapters 22 to 41), where we meet Usopp. The Baratie Arc actually only ends at chapter 68, so season 1 of The One Piece, will admittedly be wrapping up at an awkward moment story-wise.

If you are unfamiliar with the Baratie Arc, this is where the Straw Hats go to the restaurant Baratie, in search of a cook to join their crew. So, this is the part of the story where we get to meet Sanji. Sanji and Luffy meet around chapter 43 in the manga, so at least we know for sure we will see the women-obsessed cook in season 1.

Chapter 50 of the manga also does set up the Arlong Park Arc pretty well. I won't get into spoilers here in case you haven't seen the original One Piece anime or Netflix live-action series yet, but the chapter involves a reveal of betrayal about one of the Straw Hats being connected with the evil pirate Arlong and his crew.

The season 1 ending will very likely leave us with a cliffhanger and probably salivating for season 2; however, it is going to be very different from the original One Piece anime, since that first season covered the entire East Blue Saga instead of breaking it up like this new reboot.

Following that fiery Lanterns season finale, HBO has yet to renew the record-breaking DCU show for a second season, but that isn't stopping showrunner and writer Chirs Mundy from teasing where Lanterns season 2 could take us.

"We won't be back in Rushville unless something crazy happens in Rushville every 10 years. But it's going to be an Earth-based story that we continue most likely," said Mundy on The Ringer-Verse's The Midnight Boys (around the 1 hour 45 minute mark).

However, with Hal Jordan now seemingly gone for good, fans are wondering who else could join Aaron Pierre's John Stewart on his next adventure. When asked which other Green Lanterns could appear, Mundy said, "Vanessa [Baden Kelly]'s been talking a big Kilowog game for a long time. We've tossed out a lot of different things." Baden Kelly serves as a producer and writer on the show and penned the fan-favorite Lanterns episode 3, 'Outkast'.

First introduced in DC Comics in 1986, Kilowog is the Green Lantern overseeing Sector 674, from the planet Bolovax Vik. The bulky, pink-skinned alien is part of the Lantern Corps, mostly in charge of recruiting and training new members, and is good friends with Stewart in the comics. Mundy didn't confirm Kilowog's involvement in season 2, but it wouldn't be the first time that the show has introduced Lanterns from other planets, as we have already met Sinestro.

But no matter how many Lanterns we meet, Mundy says the story will remain "Earth-based." The writer added, "We've shown that you can leave the planet, so that's good, right? But because of that, we want to make whoever's here as sort of grounded and real as possible. Our idea was just to ground everything and then layer on the other layers. It's like, 'Okay, are you with us? Great. We're going to layer a little bit more in.'"

Though HBO has yet to officially announce Lanterns season 2, Mundy and his team of writers have already started working on new stories. Next up for James Gunn's DCU Chapter One is the DCU's first horror movie Clayface followed by Man of Tomorrow, which will see John Stewart team up with Superman and co.

When adapting the 1974 Stephen King story for the digital age, Mike Flanagan says it was important to go all in on how social media and cell phones would only add to the cruelty Carrie faces at the hands of her bullies.

"Yeah, we talked a lot about how it changed when there were phones in people's hands, that scene especially. And in every other version, that's the first scene," Flanagan tells GamesRadar+. "And so one of the first things we kind of started to play with was, I think that's the end of the pilot, and I think we're gonna walk us into that. It's so tough to even imagine doing any story, any serious story about the modern teenage experience without engaging with the topic of social media because it is so ingrained in their day-to-day lives."

In the trailer for Carrie, we see the infamous scene – where Carrie gets her first period but has no idea what menstruation is, so she naturally believes she's dying. Instead of helping her, the girls in her gym class pelt her with sanitary napkins and tampons. In Flanagan's version of the story, the year is 2025... and the girls whip out their cell phones and film the ordeal, in addition to throwing things at her. It's a hard watch, but Flanagan says it was necessary.

"And the normalization of cruelty that comes with that was something that we really, really felt like we needed to talk about," Flanagan continues. "But yeah, it broke open a lot of things for us. I think that's one of the things I'm so impressed with about today's teenagers: I wouldn't have had the fortitude to survive.

I barely survived high school as it was. That was in the '90s. We didn't have to worry about any of this stuff. And I thought I was barely holding on by my fingernails. You know, I was a bullied kid too."

The new series sees Carrie White (Summer H. Howell), homeschooled until her teen years, begin public school for the first time. The story plays out the way we all know and love it, but the addition of social media makes it that much worse. In fact, it adds to the horror aspect in a way you would never expect. I challenge you to get through this series without crying.

The cast includes Samantha Sloyan as Margaret White, Siena Agudong as Sue Snell, Alison Thornton as Chris Hargensen, Amber Midthunder as Rita Desjardins, and Matthew Lillard as Principal Grayle.

"I can't even fathom if I would have had to go to school daily," adds Flanagan. "And contend with all of my torments, all of my mistakes, all of my growing moments being potentially captured and shared for the world forever. I don't know how they do it. So I came out of it amazed with the fortitude of today's teenagers. Nothing but respect."

Stephen King took to Threads to praise Flanagan's modern-day adaptation, saying, "Mike Flanagan's version of CARRIE is brilliant. What it has to say about social media is shocking and true." You'll just have to see for yourself.

Summer H. Howell and Samantha Sloyan play a version of Carrie and Margaret White that we've never seen before in Mike Flanagan's upcoming take on the 1974 novel by Stephen King.

"I don't know if I was surprised," Howell tells GamesRadar+ when asked if the changes to the original story shocked her. "I mean, I hadn't really heard of Carrie before, which I know, shocking. I've worked in horror since I was eight, so you'd think I would've, but no. So I kinda went into it knowing it had been made, asking, 'Why are we doing it again?' like everybody. But then reading the scenes and the scripts and seeing the humanity that Mike writes into these characters is just beautiful, and it made me want to be her so bad."

We all know the story: a bullied teenage girl named Carrie White has an abusive mother, a terrible time at school, and secret telekinetic powers. When Carrie kills her classmates after they outright humiliate her at prom, she ends up killing her mother in the process.

Flanagan's story (though we won't tell you how it ends) depicts Carrie and Margaret's relationship in a way that is much more humane and believable (not that abusive dynamics between parents and children are uncommon or unbelievable). Margaret still has no idea how to love Carrie, but she does know that she loves her. Her fundamentalist Christian ways, which include sentencing Carrie to the prayer closet instead of listening to her troubles, still get in the way of their relationship... but this version of Margaret is much more fleshed out, and it might make you cry (and this is coming from someone who started sobbing around 26 minutes into episode 1).

"When he talked to me about it, that was the first thing that he said. He's like, this isn't the Margaret White that you recognize. They love each other," Sloyan says. "And so that was so exciting because, one, it just freed me up to not have to compete with those performances and to, I think, give her so much more dimension because if we're doing it for 8 episodes, you really have so much more to explore. Once Summer and I met each other, I think that even deepened the connection more because we were able to bring, you know, the relationship that we truly have to the characters, which just gave it even more depth."

Keep in mind that King himself is a fan of the changes, writing on Threads: "Mike Flanagan's version of CARRIE is brilliant. What it has to say about social media is shocking and true." At a special WGA event attended by GamesRadar+, Flanagan noted that King isn't always a fan of drastic changes to his work... and we don't blame him. It's worth noting that the social media comment applies to Carrie and Margaret's relationship... and it may shock you.

Fallout season 3 is slated to hit Prime Video next spring or summer, says star Kyle MacLachlan.

"We're still shooting away," MacLachlan told a fan during a signing for his new memoir. "We've got about a month or so to go... and then probably come out maybe May or June."

The third (and hopefully not final) season of the hit Prime Video show started filming in May 2026, five or so months after season 2's December-January run. There hasn't been much news in the meantime, aside from Aaron Paul (who spoke out several times about his desire to appear on the show) being added to the cast. Paul joins the newly promoted Annabel O’Hagan and Dave Register, who play Vault dwellers Steph and Chet, respectively.

We weren't sure of Hank's fate after the season 2 finale, so we're glad MacLachlan confirmed that he will indeed be back. In what capacity...we're not sure. Now that his mind has essentially been erased, his character could go in any direction. We do think, however, that we'll see a lot more flashbacks from before the bombs dropped (especially now that we know how his character is connected to Steph).

The new season also partially takes place in Colorado, which is a location that has not yet been visited in the games. I'm ready to see some mutated moose.

Hollywood is diving ever deeper into the unending pool of video game franchises to adapt for film and TV, with hit shooters Arc Raiders and The Finals coming to the big and small screen next.

In a press release, Chernin Entertainment, the production company behind horror sensations Backrooms and Netflix's The Last House, and Nexon, the parent company behind Arc Raiders and The Finals developer Embark, announce their collaboration. It isn't clear whether Arc Raiders and The Finals are both getting TV and film adaptations, or if Chernin is planning one game for TV and the other for film, but this is a major investment in two extremely popular shooters from Embark.

"Nexon's agreement with Chernin Entertainment is the next big step in growing ARC Raiders and THE FINALS into deeply integrated transmedia experiences that reward the passion of our global player community," says Embark founder and CEO Patrick Söderlund. "Throughout the process, the creative teams at Embark Studios will work closely with Chernin to ensure the creativity that defines both of these properties extends into all-new formats."

Released in 2025, Arc Raiders takes place in 2180, decades after a mysterious army of robots called ARC descended on Earth, overwhelmed human resistance, and forced everyone to seek refuge underground. The game's titular raiders brave the surface to collect materials and resources for sale, which is its core gameplay loop. The Finals launched in 2023 and thrusts players into a dystopian 2100 reality in a struggle to survive a virtual reality combat game show.

"ARC Raiders and THE FINALS are exactly the kind of opportunities we've been building towards at Chernin Entertainment: ambitious global IP with the potential to become major franchises across film and television," says David Ready, Chernin Entertainment's president of film. "Nexon and Embark have created visually stunning, atmospheric worlds that contain countless stories to tell. We're honored they've trusted us to unite our film and television teams to tell those stories."

Neither adaptation has a release date. In the meantime, here's our ranking of the best video game movies of all time.

It's an interesting time for Marvel television. The studio has been cutting back on its small-screen output on Disney Plus with the recent cancellation of Wonder Man and the news that Daredevil: Born Again is ending with season 3. However, while all signs are pointing to a smaller output, Marvel has still announced a New York Comic Con 2026 panel to showcase their upcoming slate.

As always, details on the panel are pretty slim, but that doesn't mean we won't be in for some big surprises. Below, we get into our big predictions of what might happen at the panel as Marvel TV head Brad Winderbaum invites a series of guests to join him in the Big Apple. From new details on previously announced television shows as well as insight from Marvel's animation output, we're expecting some big reveals. There are even some rumors that several new MCU series are already in development, which could make a surprise appearance.

VisionQuest final reveals

Marvel's biggest upcoming show is set to hit Disney Plus in just a few weeks. VisionQuest will mark the end of the WandaVision trilogy as it picks up with White Vision after the events of the climactic season finale. We'll meet Paul Bettany's synthezoid as he tries to grapple with Vision's implanted memories, his place as a former AI, his origins from Ultron, and a bounty hunter on his tail. Just a normal Tuesday, right?

We've seen lots of trailers at this point, so our best guess is that Bettany, James Spader, and showrunner Terry Matalas might make an appearance at the panel to give a few final updates.

Your Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Man season 2 trailer

Your Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Man season 2 will be swinging onto our screens in January 2027, and we still haven't seen a trailer. First footage debuted behind closed doors at D23 back in August, so I'm betting New York Comic Con will be when Marvel Studios releases the teaser for everyone to see.

The new season will pick up after the events of season one as Peter Parker battles his usual rogues' gallery. Hudson Thames returns to voice Spidey, alongside Colman Domingo as Norman Osborn and Charlie Cox as Daredevil. Newcomers in season 2 include Spider-Gwen and Eddie Brock, and rumors are that Peter will be getting a symbiote suit too. I can't wait to get the first proper look at that.

First look at Daredevil: Born Again season 3

Daredevil: Born Again has always had a very strong presence at New York Comic Con thanks to its setting. However, it's not quite clear whether this will continue for season 3, given the recent news that this will be the show's final outing. I'm hoping that we'll still get a final send-off appearance from Hell's Kitchen's finest given that season 3 has wrapped filming.

My biggest hope is that Charlie Cox might make an appearance to debut the first look at new footage, although at this stage it feels likely this will debut behind closed doors. GamesRadar+ will be in the room, though, to give you all the updates as we get them. If we do get any new footage of Daredevil: Born Again season 3, I'm expecting official confirmation about some familiar faces returning after all the set leaks earlier this year.

X-Men '97 season 3 and Marvel Zombies season 2 updates

While live-action TV for Marvel may be in flux, it seems like animation is thriving. X-Men '97 season 3 and 4 have already been confirmed, with the former set to arrive in 2027. The ending of season 2 of the mutant show also set up a tantalizing tease for the direction of the show in new episodes by introducing Mystique to the fray. Footage of X-Men '97 has previously debuted at NYCC, so it's possible this could happen again this year, although it would be pretty early.

Marvel Zombies is also officially returning for a second season and could make an appearance at the panel. Marvel TV head Brad Winderbaum announced back in April on The Escape Pod that he'd seen an animatic of the first episode. Based on this timeline, it seems pretty likely that we could be in for some new footage from the show, whether this be a trailer or a clip. Plenty of the MCU's biggest stars reprised their roles for their animated counterparts in the first season, so there may also be some confirmation of more stars following in their footsteps.

New TV shows

A big question mark is currently hanging over Marvel's upcoming slate: will there be any more live-action TV shows? At the moment, the only confirmed shows are VisionQuest, which will release very soon, and Daredevil: Born Again season 3, which will be the final season. Beyond that, Marvel has no more live-action shows in development. Could NYCC be the place to announce more?

It's certainly possible, especially given recent reports that the studio has been actively developing a number of shows. According to The Hollywood Reporter back in September, Marvel has between three and five series in development. The publication even announced that one, a thriller codenamed Zodiac, was very close to being greenlit. If this is true, it seems inevitable that we might get some announcements at New York Comic-Con. Watch this space.

Lanterns co-creators were aware that changing the Green Lantern oath is "heresy" so they approached John Stewart's version "like a remix."

In the Lanterns season 1 ending, John – now an 'independent contractor' instead of a member of the Lantern Corps – puts his own twist on the iconic words: "In brightest day, in darkest night, I embrace my fear, I’ll do what’s right. I choose this ring, I choose this fight – in service to this lantern’s light."

But why the change? With apparently "all" of the writers' room contributing to the tweaks, there was a real awareness of not playing with established lore too much.

"This is one of those moments where you're holding your hand close to the flame of canon," co-creator Damon Lindelof said on Lanterns: The Official Podcast. "It is heresy to fuck with the oath… [But] once we put John on the journey that he's on, the only way he can authentically take the ring is to do it on his own terms. Part of that is saying that there are parts of the original oath that feel good to him, but there are other parts he has to claim for himself."

"We approached it like a remix," showrunner Chris Mundy added. "We're not changing it, we're just remixing the original. It has the same feel."

We will next hear John Stewart recite the oath in Man of Tomorrow, the Superman sequel set for release as part of DCU Chapter One next July.

On making the step into the blockbuster space with his Lanterns character, John Stewart actor Aaron Pierre told GamesRadar+, "For me, what was an enormous gift was having those eight hours of HBO [television] to live with before going onto Man of Tomorrow."

Pierre added, "I was on the phone to Chris Mundy. He was like, 'Congratulations, man. You filmed for 106 days out of 112.' Just on that note, to have 106 days with a character before going on in the DC cinematic universe is a gift. That is not a given. I am very grateful I had that.

"That's just the way it worked out. I don't know how intentional it was or wasn't, but I'm forever grateful for that. It allowed me to step onto the Man of Tomorrow set with a deep understanding of who my man John is."

Hot on the heels of the news that creator Jacksepticeye is producing a Bloodborne animated movie (an appointment that has not gone down well with fans), the latest content creator to turn film-and-TV-maker is Charlie White, aka MoistCr1TiKaL, who is teaming up with Jagex and studio Lyrical Animation on a RuneScape animated show.

The project, which was revealed by Jagex CEO Jon Bellamy at RuneFest 2026 following the announcement of a fourth RuneScape MMO, is still in the very early stages of development. Per Jagex, the show will "explore bringing the game's world to the screen" with the intent to "expand RuneScape beyond the gaming ecosystem." Bellamy adds: "We see huge potential to bring Gielinor to life in new ways, both for the millions who already know and love it and for a whole new audience." Other than that, details are scant, with more news promised for 2027.

White's involvement is certain to raise eyebrows. The hugely popular streamer is a longtime RuneScape player and is already collaborating with Lyrical Animation on an adaptation of his comic, Godslap. Lyrical Animation, in fact, is the studio behind the Bloodborne animated movie, as well as Death Stranding: Mosquito, so video game adaptations involving prominent figures in the gaming world appears to be part of their MO.

What's not clear is the extent of White's involvement in the RuneScape show. While Jacksepticeye (real name Seán McLoughlin) claims he's one of the main creative figures behind the animated Bloodborne movie, and is even responsible for hiring decisions, there's no suggestion at this stage that White is occupying a similarly senior role in the RuneScape adaptation.

Fantasy MMORPG RuneScape is this year celebrating its 25th anniversary, after launching in 2001. There are currently three active games: RuneScape, Old School RuneScape and RuneScape Dragonwilds, with more than 300 million accounts created over the last quarter century. Video game adaptations, of course, are big business in Hollywood following the success of A Minecraft Movie, The Last of Us, Fallout, and more. All we can hope for the RuneScape show is that it's more Arcane and less Netflix's Resident Evil.

Lanterns has come to an end with an emotional season finale where we finally learned who killed Hal Jordan. But despite many hoping that Kyle Chandler's Green Lantern would escape his fate, in post-finale interviews, the DCU show's co-creators have made it clear that Hal being alive and well come the final credits was never on the table.

When asked by Collider if Hal could return from the dead in a potential Lanterns season 2, co-creator and writer Damon Lindelof was reticent to speculate, but did confirm, in no uncertain terms, that they never considered ending the season with Hal alive after revealing he was murdered way back in episode 1.

"Even though we knew that it was going to be emotionally devastating and/or disappointing and maybe even frustrating, [we knew] that the worst possible schmuck-baity thing that we could do is show you a pilot where Hal Jordan was definitively dead, and then try to walk it back and say, 'Oh, he was a clone' or 'He's only mostly dead' in the Princess Bride vernacular."

That's pretty definitive, and is something showrunner Chris Mundy echoed in a separate interview with Brandon Davis, saying: "It's absolutely the end of the season and the end of [John and Hal’s] relationship. I think our intent was always just that, to close that off emotionally. That's the best way to say it. I know there's people that love the idea of Hal going forward but… I would never say never to anything, but it's also like that closed the book on our story for this season."

So, no, despite everyone on god's green Earth hoping that Kyle Chandler's Hal would somehow turn out to be alive and well by the end of the season, it seems that was never on the cards. However, both Mundy and Lindelof left the door ever so slightly ajar on the idea that Hal could return in future seasons, with Lindelof concluding, "Where there's a will, there's a way." It's an ember of hope, at least...

Alongside the reveal of Hal's murderer, the Lanterns season 1 finale confirmed a heavily rumored theory: that Kerry's son, Noah, was a secret Manhunter all along. Lanterns has come to a dramatic end on HBO Max, finally resolving the mystery around Hal Jordan's death. In an exciting finale, we finally got some closure on what happened in Rushville as well as a bit of a tease for what's to come next in Man of Tomorrow. However, while the final episode drew this story to a close, many will be wondering if this is the end of the road for the DCU show.

Well, it seems like there is some hope on the horizon. We get into all the details revealed about that from James Gunn and the show's creators below. We've also got the speculative lowdown on when a new season could come and what it could cover.

Here's your spoiler warning, though: we'll be getting into plot details from the final episode below. So make sure you're up to speed before reading on.

Will there be a Lanterns season 2?

Well, first of all, it's worth pointing out that Lanterns season 2 has not been officially announced yet. But despite closing the loop on Hal Jordan's murder, there are still plenty of loose threads left dangling in episode 8, leaving plenty of room for more. And we already know that John Stewart will return in Man of Tomorrow.

There's also been a lot of talk about a potential second season. Speaking at the start of the show's release, co-showrunner Chris Mundy said they had ideas for more. "The question is whether [season two] is a story people are interested in," he told The Hollywood Reporter. "If that's the case, then we’ll get to do another one. We'll tell it in a slightly different way, so that it feels fresh, with characters you know and care about."

At the time, in late August, he said of their plans: "We're about six weeks into laying out a season, and then we'll talk to folks about it really soon." Now, we don't know exactly how that pitch went, as there has been no confirmation yet about a second season. However, it certainly seems there are some plans in motion.

As well as this, James Gunn recently gave us a little tease that has fired up hopes. Replying to a viewer on Threads, he confirmed that episode 8 is the "season finale" rather than the "series finale". It's a small difference, but one that definitely leaves the door open for more.

Lanterns has been a critical hit for HBO, and has pulled in some 19 million viewers per episode on average, making it one of the network's most successful shows ever. So it would be surprising at this stage if season 2 didn't go ahead. However, there is a precedent for Lanterns being a one-off: The Penguin was a similarly successful DC show on HBO, and despite early hope it would return for season 2, that no longer seems like it will be the case. At the very least, we know John Stewart will return in Man of Tomorrow.

What could happen in Lanterns season 2?

Well, this is the big question. The story in Rushville was tied up in the first season of Lanterns, as were the circumstances around Hal Jordan's death. This all means that a second season of the show would look very different, and likely be missing one of its two main stars.

When John Stewart powers up Hal's old ring with his 'unsanctioned' lantern, he overwrites the Halogram, effectively killing the last remaining remnant of Hal.

However, there are some options open to the creators. One potential avenue is to approach Lanterns like an anthology show. After all, there are a whole lot more Green Lanterns who could be featured in another season to draw from.

Another option could be to focus more on John Stewart's character. This direction will likely depend on what happens in Man of Tomorrow, which is the next place that he'll be popping up. We'll have to wait and see on that one.

There's also the possibility of Sinestro bringing Hal back from the dead, potentially as Parallax – a possibility that the show leaves the door open for. And Noah's future is a huge unanswered question. As Hal himself says, there could be a Manhunter sitting in the White House one day if John doesn't do something about it. This would need to be addressed in subsequent seasons or other DCU projects.

Whatever they decide to do, given the strength of season 1, we've got total faith in the helmers of this slice of the DC universe.

When will Lanterns season 2 come out? Speculation over a potential release date

Given that it has not yet even been announced, it's pretty hard to have a go at working out when Lanterns season 2 could happen. It does sound like the creators are a good way into mapping out their plans for more episodes, but it will all depend on whether it gets greenlit.

Work began in early 2024 on the first season before filming took place in early 2025. The show arrived a year and a half after that in August 2026. If we get any filming updates, this will give us more of an idea when a second season could slot in.

What is Avatar: Seven Havens?

Avatar: Seven Havens is a new series created by Michael Dante DiMartino and Bryan Konietzko. Set in the same world as Avatar: The Last Airbender (2005–2008) and The Legend of Korra (2012–2014), this story will run for two Books comprising 13 half-hour episodes each.

The show follows Pavi, a young Earthbender who lives in a refuge from the constantly raging sandstorms and tornadoes that have ravaged her world. Kids in the city of Ellora grow up hating the Avatar for causing all this, which doesn't work out too well for Pavi when she discovers that she is the new Avatar.

No longer perceived as a hero or saviour, the Avatar must prove herself again while enemies from both the human and spirit world hunt her down. Alongside Airbender Jae, Pavi and her long-lost twin named Nisha search for answers regarding their mysterious origins in a bid to save the Seven Havens before civilisation collapses completely.

Who is in the voice cast for Avatar: Seven Havens?

• Pavi (Saheli Khan) – The new Avatar
• Nisha (Aishu Devan) – Pavi's twin sister
• Jae (Major Curda) – An airbender who joins the adventure
• Geet and Ruhi (Dee Bradley Baker) – Pavi's and Nisha's pet cat-monkeys.

Other characters include Karthik (Akshay Khanna), Agam (Sakina Jaffrey), Daemin (Darren Barnet), and Zi (Dianne Doan).

Do I need to watch other Avatar stories before Avatar: Seven Havens?

Avatar: The Last Airbender and the sequel film, Avatar Aang: The Last Airbender, are unlikely to be essential viewing if you wish to make sense of Avatar: Seven Havens. From what we've seen so far, the two arcs are not directly connected, story-wise, even though they do exist within the same world (just three centuries apart). They are still essential viewing, however, because they're amazing – and why would you not want to enjoy the Avatar franchise at its peak?

If you only have time to watch one show before Seven Havens, we suggest checking out The Legend of Korra series, because the actions of Korra herself directly set up events in the new show.

Set 225 years after The Legend of Korra, the protagonist of that series is blamed for creating the post-apocalyptic world where Seven Havens is set. People now hate the Avatar because they associate this power with Korra's rage and the destruction she caused, although it's unclear yet whether Korra is actually at fault here. Our girl always gets it in the neck, and it seems now is no different, even though her intentions have only been for the best prior to this show.

It's likely Seven Havens will explain all this enough for the series to work as a standalone story, but if you don't watch The Legend of Korra, you'll likely be missing out on some wider context.

Will familiar characters from other Avatar shows appear?

Korra will definitely have a presence on this show. The impact of her actions are already felt in the overall premise of Seven Havens, although it remains to be seen whether Korra herself will show up in some capacity.

Flashbacks are the obvious option, plus Avatars have the power to meet their past selves in the Spirit World, which could pave the way for eventual appearances from Aang and others from the Avatar line.

Eagle-eyed fans have also spotted what looks like Vaatu in the trailer for Seven Havens. Also known as the Great Spirit of Darkness and Chaos, Vaatu is the overall baddie in this world, one who almost defeated Korra in her own series. It stands to reason that this evil entity would return at some point in Seven Havens.

How will it set up future Avatar stories?

It's unclear yet how Seven Havens will set up future stories within the Avatar universe. We do know that future stories are coming though.

At San Diego Comic-Con this summer, DiMartino and Konietzko exclusively revealed to GamesRadar+ that a secret, unannounced TV project is in the works.

"There's stuff in development, just TV shows in production, but not features at the moment," DiMartino said. "We have another secret thing in production, but yeah, it's on the series side," added Konietzko. "To be clear, we're series people, so that's okay to us. Features is a new thing to us."

There are no current plans for a new feature film, although that will likely change as this world continues to expand.

When will new episodes of Avatar: Seven Havens air?

Original reports suggested that all 26 episodes of Seven Havens would drop all at once. Thankfully, we now know that's not the case.

Instead, Avatar: Seven Haven's first 13-episode book will be released in three episode batches across October before the final four episodes arrive on Paramount Plus October 30.

The schedule is as follows:

• October 9: Episodes 1-3
• October 16: Episodes 4-6
• October 23: Episodes 7-9
• October 30: Episodes 10-13

Just two weeks before the premiere of VisionQuest, Marvel has the first three episodes of WandaVision available to stream for free on YouTube.

You might recall that WandaVision is the first TV show to kick off the Disney Plus era of the MCU, with each series tying into the main movie universe. WandaVision takes place after the events of Avengers: Endgame, where a grief-stricken Wanda Maximoff uses magic to create a happy, idyllic life in the wake of Vision's tragic death at the hands of Thanos. At the end of the series, Wanda allows the magically created Vision to disappear into the ether, while a fully rebuilt all-white version of Vision was created by S.W.O.R.D.. It's the latter version who starts a brand-new life in VisionQuest, and invites Ultron (James Spader) to come live in his house (brain?) for some reason.

The cast includes Orla Brady as FRIDAY, Emily Hampshire as EDITH, and James D'Arcy as JARVIS (yes, that Jarvis). Ruaridh Mollica plays Tommy Maximoff, Wanda's son, who was introduced by name in the first WandaVision spin-off Agatha All Along. In the trailer, Ultron says to Tommy, "You really are a son of a witch" (and that's pretty dang exciting).

There will also be some VisionQuest news to come out of New York City Comic Con, and knowing Marvel, it'll probably be cameo-related.

It's the most wonderful time of the year (at least for us New York City-based nerds). New York City Comic Con is almost upon us, and much like San Diego Comic-Con, we can expect a plethora of exciting news, reveals, and announcements from the most highly anticipated movies and TV shows set to arrive in 2026 and beyond. From new Marvel TV shows to a long-awaited horror prequel and a follow-up to one of the best animated shows from our childhoods... there's truly something for everyone this year at NYCC.

Below, we've rounded up five of the biggest highlights – which was no easy feat given how many exciting things there are to look forward to this year. We've mentioned some of the biggest and the best, but there's still so much more. A panel for the upcoming survival thriller Whalefall will feature a Q&A with star Austin Abrams, and we can't forget about Blumfest, which will tease the horror studio's upcoming slate of films... which may or may not include Five Nights at Freddy's 3 (especially since both Matthew Lillard and Skeet Ulrich will be in attendance this year...)

During the week of NYCC, we'll be keeping you updated with every exciting bit of news that comes out of each panel. There are even some immersive activations, one which may or may not involve being chased by Mrs. Voorhees herself... Marvel TV and Animation

Marvel is known for their big convention appearances, which is where they tend to break the biggest news and give us the most exciting announcements. On Thursday, October 8, Marvel will hold a panel (4:15 – 5:45 pm ET at the Empire Stage) that showcases what's next from Marvel Television and Marvel Animation. This will put a spotlight on the upcoming WandaVision spinoff VisionQuest, as well as season 3 of X-Men '97 and Your Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Man season 2. We also may get an early look at Daredevil: Born Again season 3, the final season of the hit Disney Plus series, as the show just wrapped filming in NYC and has entered post-production.

Blade Runner 2099

On Saturday, October 10, Prime Video is holding a panel for upcoming sci-fi series Blade Runner 2099 (6:45 pm ET at the Empire Stage). The lineup includes stars Michelle Yeoh, Hunter Schafer, Dimitri Abold, Lewis Gribben, Matthew Needham, showrunner/executive producer Silka Luisa, and executive Producers Andrew Kosove and Broderick Johnson. There will also be a two-floor immersive experience designed to put you right in the middle of dystopian Los Angeles. Open to attending NYCC guests, the off-site experience lets you go undercover as a replicant, test your humanity, and even step into a nigh club straight out of the Blade Runner universe (and we hope a giant neon Ana de Armas is there to greet us).

Crystal Lake

Ever wondered why Pamela Voorhees ended up murdering all those camp counselors? Well, Peacock's Crystal Lake picks up right after little Jason was drowned by those bullies and follows Linda Cardellini as the one and only Mrs. Voorhees. On Thursday, fans can check out a special screening of the horror prequel's first episode (6:30 ET at the Empire Stage), followed by a Q&A with Cardellini, creator/showrunner Brad Caleb Kane, and more. Then, they can head on over to the Crystal Lake booth (1359) on the main show floor for an immersive experience that takes you to Camp Crystal Lake in the 1970s.

Dexter: Resurrection season 2

Dexter didn't die... and he's back to killing bad guys, though he's got his son to help him out this time. A panel for Dexter: Resurrection season 2 will take place from 12:30 - 2:00 PM ET on Thursday at the Hall 1D: Main Stage, and feature stars Michael C. Hall, Uma Thurman, James Remar, Jack Alcott, Bokeem Woodbine, and Krysten Ritter. Paramount is also promising "plenty of killer surprises," so we can expect a sneak preview, and maybe even some casting announcements that we did not see coming... will they confirm that Ritter is returning as Lady Vengeance? Will Dan Stevens make an appearance as one of the show's newest NYC serial killers?

Avatar: Seven Havens

On Friday, October 9, Avatar: Seven Havens, a direct sequel to Avatar spin-off The Legend of Korra, will hold a panel from 11:15 - 12:15 pm ET over at the Main Stage. Moderated by the original voice of Korra, Janet Varney, the panel includes cast members Saheli Khan, Aishu Devan, and Major Curda, as well as executive producers Michael Dante DiMartino, Bryan Konietzko, Ethan Spaulding, and Sehaj Sethi. We can expect a sneak peek at the upcoming series, some fun behind-the-scenes fodder, and Paramount has hinted at a possible announcement as to what's next for the Avatar franchise...

"When you mess with time, it tends to mess back," Robert Downey Jr.'s Tony Stark warned in Avengers: Endgame.

How right he was – but no one would have guessed Earth's Mightiest Heroes traipsing around 2012-era New York would have spawned a Marvel classic and laid the groundwork for the MCU's best, most satisfying redemption arc.

Enter Loki, a two-season time-travelling adventure that plucked Tom Hiddleston's trickster god from a timeline involving his hasty escape in Endgame and into the pleasingly lo-fi, analog corridors of the Time Variance Authority (TVA), a group of suits and soldiers that oversee the multiverse and are ready to stomp out any branching timelines that cause temporal headaches at a moment's notice.

Marvel has deployed the multiverse liberally in the past half-decade. It's been used for fan service (Spider-Man: No Way Home and Deadpool & Wolverine), expansive sequels (Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness), and puzzling post-credits scenes (The Marvels), but – in Loki's case – the original is the best.

For All Time

Instead of using the multiverse as narrative crutch, Loki wields it as a tool to untangle the broken psyche of its most complex villain. Quickly, Thor's half-brother has his ego stripped away as he tiptoes towards the most selfless of goals: restoring balance to a tempestuous multiverse. But, first, Loki has one of the MCU's best villains standing in his way.

While much of its power has been robbed thanks to Jonathan Majors' arrest and subsequent firing, it's the scenes with He Who Remains that turns Loki from a brilliant slice of time-and-space action into something that would have lasting effect on the MCU as a whole – and really hammered home Loki's quality.

Where most of Marvel's output has concentrated on CGI-filled spectacle for its finales, Loki's first season settled on something paradoxically far more intimate and grander.

At the end of time, He Who Remains – a Kang variant – sits over a dying universe, only to be confronted by Loki and his own variant, Sylvie (Sophia Di Martino). After Sylvie stabs him, He Who Remains' iron grip on the universe is lost and the multiverse splinters off into countless unwieldy branches.

The second season spends much of its runtime undoing that multiversal mess, with Kang variant Victor Timely helping set up an Avengers crossover that never was with The Kang Dynasty.

But no matter. The infinite possibilities of the multiverse has helped rework Loki's endgame into the MCU's favor.

Glorious purpose

The Avengers: Endgame Encore re-release bolted on bonus scenes that helped reconfigure Loki and the TVA's role on the path to Avengers: Doomsday.

In an extended ending, Loki interrupts Peggy and Steve's dance to warn them of impending doom (and likely Doom). The TVA, meanwhile, has a front-row seat as over 3,000 timelines perish in the blink of an eye. Suddenly, Doomsday turns from the novelty of Doctor Doom facing the Avengers to an all-consuming apocalyptic event – and wouldn't have got there without Loki training its audience to understand the multiverse, as well as introducing characters it cares about overseeing the whole thing.

Thanks to the first season's montage-style recap of future Loki scenes to help his past self catch up on what could be, the show also neatly sets up Doomsday and Avengers: Secret Wars for what will be the completion of Marvel's unlikeliest comeback story and its most emotional reunion: a matured Loki meeting face-to-face with a Thor who has lost his home, lost his eye, and his one-time love, but has powered on as a hero and now has his own child to care for. There might not be a dry eye in the house if we get to see Uncle Loki, even for a split-second.

As Marvel seems to be scaling back its Disney Plus output (with the likes of Wonder Man and Daredevil: Born Again being canceled in recent weeks), Loki makes us nostalgic for a different time in the MCU, one where we were guaranteed half-an-hour of stellar character work, a sprinkling of outlandish cameos, and a connective tissue that made it essential viewing for Marvel diehards.

We didn't expect that when Loki made his sudden exit in Avengers: Endgame. But the MCU is all the better for it.

Avengers: Endgame is available to stream now on Disney Plus, ahead of the release of Avengers: Doomsday on December 18. Avengers: Endgame Encore is in theaters now.

Fast and Furious may be saying goodbye on the big screen but it seems like this is not the end of the road. The hit franchise is coming to the small screen as a TV spin-off has been greenlit on Peacock.

According to Deadline, the show will be helmed by Mike Daniels and Wolfe Coleman, who are also writing the script. Daniels is best known as the producer of Sons of Anarchy, Pan Am, and Shades of Blue, where he worked with Coleman.

Very few details have been revealed about what the TV spin-off will focus on or if any of the main cast will reprise their roles, but star Vin Diesel did explain the move to the small screen earlier this year.

Speaking in May at the NBCUniversal Upfronts, Diesel said: "As you all know, we are very precious about these movies but over the last decade, we've realized that the fans have wanted more, they wanted us to expand the legacy characters, their stories, and for the last decade, the desire has been for us to enter the TV space."

He added that under NBCUniversal TV boss Donna Langley, he "knew that the integrity of the characters, the international appeal, what makes us all feel like family will be protected in the TV space."

Currently, the TV spin-off is expected in 2028, which is the same timeframe as the final movie in the Fast and Furious franchise, Fast Forever. Diesel recently said he went through four sets of writers to get that story right, but the result is an emotional farewell.

Mike Flanagan has shared his hopes that his new Amazon series will run for multiple seasons. The Haunting of Hill House director is helming a new adaptation of Stephen King's Carrie, and it seems like it will extend far beyond the original story.

Speaking to Collider recently, Flanagan said: "In my dream scenario. I think it’s three seasons. In my dream scenario, I think Carrie has a wonderful three-step arc. It’s a trilogy, really.”

The Amazon show will follow Summer H. Howell's Carrie White as she goes to high school after spending most of her life isolated at home. It's far from an easy transition for the young girl who must navigate intense bullying in a modern world of social media.

It's not clear how he plans to divide up the story at this point, especially given that early trailers for the show seem to suggest it's hitting the main story points. Could Flanagan leave Carrie's story open at the end of his adaptation, or is he planning to expand the story beyond Carrie?

It's not yet clear at the moment because Carrie only hits Prime Video on October 7, when all episodes of the show will be available. Early reactions to the first episodes have been very promising with many praising how it brings the story into a contemporary setting.

Even King himself is a big fan, writing on Threads: "Mike Flanagan's version of CARRIE is brilliant. What it has to say about social media is shocking and true."

Despite Spider-Noir's cancelation, Spider-Man is close to a streaming return at Amazon with an adaptation of one of the webhead's most controversial and divisive comic storylines.

As reported by Deadline, Prime Video could be the destination for a Clone Saga show.

For the uninitiated, the arc – which spanned multiple Spidey titles across the mid-1990s – featured the return of Ben Reilly, a clone of Peter Parker who tricked many into believing he was the real Peter Parker.

What followed was a convoluted, bloated mess of a comic run that brought in even more clones, sidelined Peter Parker for large periods, and was filled with nonsensical plot twists for multiple years. While it still has some fans, it's largely seen as a flawed diamond in the rough that has largely been ignored by comic continuity in the decades since.

The Clone Saga series will revolve around Reilly and Kaine Parker, a failed clone of Peter Parker. Deadline sources also say there could be "significant changes" to the adaptation. Tom Holland is also not expected to be involved.

As you can imagine, fans have chimed in to deliver their thoughts on Clone Saga potentially coming to TV screens. In short, some changes will be necessary for audiences to find it even remotely palatable.

"Terrible idea," one said on Reddit.

"I could be down for this if it’s animated. I just don’t see a way for it to work if it’s in live action," another wrote.

One Spider-Man fan concurred about turning it into an "animated take" on the Clone Saga, along with some other changes.

"Hopefully they use the revised version of the story. Look, I didn't hate the Clone Saga. It wasn't spectacular, but I didn't hate it," they said. "I just hope they don't shoehorn-in all the new Spider-People like Gwen and Miles."

Critic Martin Kessler responded to the news on Twitter, saying, "The Clone Saga doesn’t get the entire blame, but more than a good chunk of it, for the reason why I stayed away from superhero comics for about a decade."

So, with concerns and questions lingering – will Ben Reilly and Kaine Parker be played by the same actor? – there's plenty of trepidation for the Clone Saga. But Spider-Man's appeal is at an all-time high after Brand New Day's domestic box office records in the US.

BBC boss Matt Brittin has shared his thoughts on AI – and revealed he's been sent an AI-generated episode of Doctor Who.

"Everyone’s got the ability in their hands – or six billion people have – to create content at the standard of a Hollywood studio," Brittin shared at the Royal Television Society conference, as reported by Variety.

"Somebody sent me a 50-minute episode of Doctor Who that was AI-generated the other day. It's pretty good," he added. "I mean, it's not going to replace humans, and we'll come on to that. So everyone's a creator. Not all the creativity is bad."

The future of Doctor Who is currently uncertain. Ncuti Gatwa left the show after just two seasons, and a cliffhanger ending that saw the Doctor regenerate into Billie Piper now seems unlikely to ever be resolved after it was revealed the planned Christmas special will not be happening and showrunner Russell T Davies has exited the show. The BBC is also putting Doctor Who out to tender.

"This decision was not taken lightly, and we know it will be disappointing for fans, but in order to set the show up for future series, it was decided that rather than bridge the gap with a one off special, we are choosing to push forward to invest in the long-term future of the show which ensures that when the TARDIS lands once more, it does so in all its glory," the BBC said in a statement.

The Apothecary Diaries is returning. When I first heard that season 3 was kicking off on October 2, I was elated, as I've been waiting patiently to see what Maomao and Jinshi have been up to for months. However, as much as I love the series (Hyakka Ryouran by Lilas Ikuta is always on repeat in this house), the show's return has reminded me that I don't yet own any merch.

As it stands, there's no Maomao representation amongst the best toys in my collection, and that simply cannot stand. To rectify this poisonous omission and prepare myself for the series' return, I've gathered some of the best Apothecary Diaries merch I've spotted across US retailers, from Good Smile's adorable posable Nendoroid figures to the Season 1 and 2 Blu-rays, so I can re-watch the series in the lead-up to its return with plenty of plastic and plush Maomaos in my vicinity.

Lanterns is set to bring its season to a close this Sunday, but DC boss James Gunn seemingly isn't ruling out a second season.

"I've seen Lanterns 500 times and even I'm excited for next week's finale," the DC Studios co-CEO wrote on Threads.

When a fan asked for clarification on whether it was a series finale or season finale, Gunn followed up: "Season finale, correct."

The first season of Lanterns has followed Kyle Chandler's Hal Jordan and Aaron Pierre's John Stewart as they investigated a mystery of cosmic proportions in the sleepy town of Rushville, Nebraska.

But at its (crystalized) heart is another mystery: who killed Hal Jordan? As of episode 7, we're still none the wiser – but it's good to know that bumping off one half of the Lantern duo hasn't harmed our chances of a second season. It's worth remembering, too, that Guy Gardner (Nathan Fillion) is still waiting in the wings, bowl cut and all.

Lanterns co-creator/showrunner Chris Mundy has also addressed the chances of a second season. While there's no official green light for the project, pre-production work is well underway for a follow up.

Mundy told The Hollywood Reporter, "The question is whether [season two] is a story people are interested in. "If that's the case, then we'll get to do another one. We'll tell it in a slightly different way, so that it feels fresh, with characters you know and care about."

Mundy added, "We're about six weeks into laying out a season, and then we'll talk to folks about it really soon."

The Lanterns finale trailer is here – and it appears to be paving the way for John Stewart to be the DCU's Green Lantern.

The trailer, which you can see below, sets up next Sunday's episode in decidedly cryptic fashion, but focuses first and foremost on John Stewart coming face to face with disgraced former Lantern Sinestro on an alien planet.

"The Lantern Corps thinks that fear makes you weak," Sinestro begins. "They couldn't be more wrong."

Those with even a passing knowledge of Lantern lore will know that Sinestro became a Yellow Lantern after wielding a Power Ring that tapped into the power of fear. Worse still, that energy – an entity known as Parallax – would later take over Hal Jordan's body, causing untold destruction and death across the galaxy.

Are we looking at the first steps towards DCU Chapter One's Big Bad right here? Sinestro's next line certainly suggests so: "Fear can be the most powerful force in the universe."

Then there's the small matter of uncovering who killed Hal Jordan. Mercifully, the Lanterns finale trailer has gone light on the spoilers, only sprinkling in a few shots from the upcoming episode. But it does seem like the mystery will be solved come Sunday night – but what it means for the Green Lanterns after that is anyone's guess.

Whatever comes next, Lanterns season 2 appears to be happening.

"The question is whether [season 2] is a story people are interested in," showrunner Chris Mundy told The Hollywood Reporter, adding that he's several weeks into mapping out the next season.

"If that's the case, then we’ll get to do another one. We'll tell it in a slightly different way, so that it feels fresh, with characters you know and care about."

Aaron Pierre's John Stewart will also appear in Superman sequel Man of Tomorrow. On shifting from television to film for the first time in the role, Pierre told GamesRadar+, "For me, what was an enormous gift was having those eight hours of HBO [television] to live with before going onto Man of Tomorrow."

"I was on the phone to [showrunner] Chris Mundy the other day. He was like, 'Congratulations, man. You filmed for 106 days out of 112.' Just on that note, to have 106 days with a character before going on in the DC cinematic universe is a gift. That is not a given. I am very grateful I had that. That's just the way it worked out. I don't know how intentional it was or wasn't, but I'm forever grateful for that. It allowed me to step onto the Man of Tomorrow set with a deep understanding of who my man John is."

Lanterns is currently airing weekly on HBO Max.

After almost 1200 episodes, One Piece is taking a lengthy break.

The hit anime won't return until 2027, marking one of the longest breaks for the show ever. "The final TV anime of the year, "ONE PIECE" Thank you for watching!" reads a Tweet on the official account. "Next time will air in 2027! Please stay tuned for further details on the broadcast schedule."

For over 25 years, One Piece released an episode a week – but, in 2025, it was revealed that the anime would instead pivot to a production schedule that is "capped to maximum 26 episodes per year starting in 2026."

The Elbaph Arc, the latest release, ran since April 2026. So far, no specifics on when the show will return have been confirmed, but it's a gap of at least three months. A movie, One Piece: God Valley, is on the way in summer 2027, however.

One Piece has taken breaks before, including a break from January to March earlier this year, as well as a brief hiatus during Covid, and a six month break from October 2024 to April 2025. Anime fans will have to get used to more breaks as the new schedule continues.

"The anime is based on the manga, and historically, 11-12 episodes would encompass 4-5 volumes of the manga," Toei said when announcing the schedule change. "Going forward, under the two cours structure, new episodes will incorporate more content, tempo, and pacing of the manga while continuing to leverage the unique storytelling that is only possible with animation."

Comic backstories are usually in a state of flux, with pieces of history picked up and deployed at a writer's whim to suit whatever story they're trying to tell.

But there are (usually) hard and fast rules: Superman landed in Kansas, Bruce Wayne watched his parents die in Crime Alley, and Hal Jordan watched his father die in a test flight.

While Lanterns keeps the latter intact, it offers up a key tweak that not only reframes the character – but the entirety of Kyle Chandler's excellent performance so far.

In the penultimate episode of Lanterns' first season, we – and Aaron Pierre's John Stewart – discover the 'Jordan Boys' Legacy'.

Far from being a DC MacGuffin or interstellar trinket, it is, in fact, evidence of generational trauma passed down from one Jordan male to another. Hal's father actually wanted to die on that test flight, while Hal has been struggling with his own mental health issues ever since.

In one moment, the Halogram – Hal's AI backup – neatly summarizes it: "I'm not fearless because I'm brave; I'm fearless because I'm broken."

When discussing the change with The Wrap, showrunner Chris Mundy and co-creator Damon Lindelof were acutely aware of not wanting to mess with established comic history too much.

"When you're playing around with the canon, you have to treat it like you're handling plutonium," Lindelof said. "But at the same time, there's kind of no fun and creativity and originality in that, so you simultaneously sort of have to start to kind of iterate."

Of the reasoning behind the change, Munday stated, "It's more to build into the character. It's more history. It's more darkness. It's more pathology of the character."

Of course, that puts the mystery of who killed Hal Jordan into even sharper focus. The finale will hopefully provide some answers, even if the spectre of the Jordan Boys' Legacy looms large.

The crowdfunding campaign for a Lord of the Rings RPG has proven to be so popular that it's needed to create all-new stretch goals to keep up.

Earlier this week, publisher Free League launched a Backerit page for a couple of new books along with a rules update to The One Ring, the popular Lord of the Rings RPG it's been running since 2022. However, the campaign was so popular that it smashed its crowdfunding goal by 32 times in less than a day, and has now reached $2 million in pledges. Because it only provided stretch goals up until the $1.4m mark, the team has had to create a host of new ones – and even those look as though they'll be surpassed before long.

"As the initial stretch goals were unlocked quicker than we could imagine, we have now added five more goals, trying to strike a good balance between what has been requested and what is doable without jeopardizing the timeline of the entire project," Free League writes in an email to anyone that's followed the campaign. These new stretch goals range from bonus maps to an all new location.

The latter is probably the most interesting; it will take us to The Tower of Triumph in Umbar. This is a place we've only ever heard about in passing, so being able to go there is tantalizing. That's because it's a stronghold of humans that serve Sauron where "seers and sorcerers of the city keep watch upon Gondor, and work many dark designs".

The most recent stretch goal to be unlocked is optional rules for setting up camp. These are made to complement instead of replace the existing travel mechanics, and "can be used to enliven shorter traveling sequences, or whenever the Company’s choice of campsite and preparations for the night are likely to matter."

Two more stretch goals remain: a digital art compilation unlocked at $2.2m, and a map of Bree in the new Core Rules book that becomes available at $2.4m. Considering how quickly we hit the previous marks (the pledge number has literally jumped several hundred dollars while I've been writing this story), I doubt it'll take long to reach them.

While we're on the subject of Middle-earth, these new Warhammer Mordor Orc models are reeling me back into the Lord of the Rings wargame again.

After The People Vs. Gorilla Grodd star Skyler Gisondo claimed last week that the upcoming DCU true-crime mockumentary takes place before the events of Superman sequel Man of Tomorrow, DCU boss James Gunn has taken to social media to clarify its place on the DCU timeline.

Responding to a report on Threads, Gunn said: "Overall in continuity, it's after MoT (and won't come out until then)." This certainly makes sense as, for the most part, the DCU is unfolding in chronological order as each new project releases; though, notably, Clayface is set to take place before the events of Superman.

However, there is one small wrinkle that Gunn notes when it comes to The People Vs. Gorilla Grodd: "I mean it's a true crime series, so it jumps all over the place." Expect the show to jump around in time, in other words, which could mean we learn a lot about the state of the DCU over the years. In all likelihood, this helps explain the many Gorilla Grodd leaks that have popped up online in recent weeks, which show Gorilla Grodd attending college (and singing acapella).

The People Vs. Gorilla Grodd is one of the more unusual projects on the DCU Chapter One slate. Starring Gisondo's Jimmy Olsen, it'll see the Daily Planet journalist and rizzed-up ladies' man investigating the 2021 conviction of Gorilla Grodd, who was sentenced to a stint in Stryker's Island Penitentiary after murdering his father, the King of Gorilla City.

Created by Dan Perrault and Tony Yacenda – the brains behind hilarious Netflix true-crime mockumentary series American Vandal – The People Vs. also stars Jimmy Tatro as Gorilla Grodd. Tatro previously appeared as the accused in the first season of American Vandal, and most recently popped up during Scream 7's bloody pre-title sequence.

Speaking to GamesRadar+, Gisondo discussed his appearance in buzzy A24 drama Primetime, starring Robert Pattinson, and the process of returning to play Jimmy Olsen soon after. "It's quite a change-up," Gisondo said. "I actually went straight from – not straight, [after Primetime] the next thing was Focker-in-Law... which is just, tonally, a very different movie.

"Now being back doing Jimmy Olsen, and [The People v. Gorilla Grodd] is like a mockumentary, true crime thing, so it's very Lance [Oppenheim]-adjacent, and it is funny." Rob said something in one of our interviews where, in The Odyssey, he hears a little bit of Chris Hansen's voice sometimes, and you're like, 'Oh right, [...] I gotta shake that off...'

Days after Daredevil's last hurrah was announced, Kingpin star Vincent D'Onofrio has spoken out on Daredevil: Born Again ending with season 3.

"We so enjoyed bringing Daredevil: Born Again to you all," said D'Onofrio on Twitter. "You stuck with us, and I like to think we stuck with you. We have the final Season, season 3 heading your way next year with some very cool stuff. Much love to all who have been supportive. I love that character Fisk. Always will."

D'Onofrio was first introduced as crime lord Wilson Fisk, aka Kingpin, in Netflix's 2015 Daredevil, but has since made appearances in Marvel projects Hawkeye, Echo, and Born Again.

The news broke on Monday, September 21, after weeks of cancelation rumours. But according to The Hollywood Reporter, Marvel has also quietly parted ways with showrunner Dario Scardapane, "whose contract was up and was not renewed." This means that despite filming the third installment, Scardapane will seemingly not be part of post-production.

Daredevil: Born Again season 3 wrapped filming in August, and is reportedly already in the final stages of production. Marvel has yet to share an official synopsis, but thanks to leaked set images, we know that Elektra is set to return, somehow from the dead. Plus, we'll finally get the Defenders reunion we have all been waiting for, with Mike Colter's Luke Cage and Finn Jones's Iron Fist joining Krysten Ritter's Jessica Jones.

Daredevil: Born Again season 2 ended with Matt Murdock going to prison after turning himself in and Fisk accepting a deal to leave New York City. Mr. Charles and Bullseye also seemingly left, and Jessica Jones finally reunited with Luke Cage.

Retcons are part and parcel of comic book movies, with plot changes echoing back (and often improving) past entries.

One such instance appears to be arriving in VisionQuest, the upcoming Marvel show that charts the next mind-bending chapter in the life of Paul Bettany's android.

A major moment in Vision's then-short life arrived in Avengers: Age of Ultron. There, he seemingly chose to wipe evil AI Ultron (James Spader) from existence.

According to VisionQuest showrunner Terry Matalas, however, that wasn't exactly the case.

"He actually backed [Ultron] up in that movie," Matalas told Empire (H/T The Direct). "He always felt that he didn't really want to kill Ultron. Ultron was such a threat to humanity, and he was so lost, but at the last moment, we'll find out that Vision showed mercy."

While VisionQuest continues the story of 'White' Vision, the replacement android bestowed with the original Vision's memories, it will both serve as a sequel to WandaVision and stand alone as its own story as Vision seeks for answers amid a cast filled with past Marvel AI (including E.D.I.T.H.), surprise family revelations, and the return of Ultron.

"It’s more the Vision story, just because we’re going to dig into so much of who he is in ways that the films and WandaVision couldn’t, including some deeper parts of his origin that may go back even further than what we believed," Matalas told SFX. "So it's very much its own entity, but it does obviously touch upon what has come before for this guy."

VisionQuest is released on Disney Plus from October 14.

Netflix has revealed a sneak peek at Cyberpunk: Edgerunners season 2 ahead of the season's October release.

The brief clip, which can be viewed above, sees our new crop of heroes, including the much older Weak Kingsley (excitingly voiced in the English dub by none other than Clancy Brown), as they find themselves surrounded by foes in the middle of what appears to be a job gone wrong.

Per the official tagline, the second season "presents a new standalone 10-episode story from the world of Cyberpunk 2077... a raw chronicle of redemption and revenge. In a city that thrives in the spotlight of violence, one question remains: when the world is blinded by spectacle, what extremes do you have to go to make your story matter?" Rumors of a third season abound, but CD Projekt Red has yet to confirm.

The previous trailer introduced us to some of the other new characters, including D (voiced by Koki Uchiyama and Nazeeh Tarsha), who is out for revenge, and a new protagonist named Roman Carrax (voiced by Momoka Terasawa and Valeria Rodriguez), an aspiring filmmaker who sets out to document real stories in Night City. I wouldn't get attached to these new characters for long, however, if you remember what happened to all of our favorites by the end of season 1... It's ruthless out there.

I think it's safe to say that the community is keen to play a D&D-style Lord of the Rings RPG, because a crowdfunding campaign for one is approaching $2.1million in pledges with the speed of an airborne Nazgûl.

Developed by Free League, The One Ring is a tabletop roleplaying game like D&D set between The Hobbit and The Lord of the Rings. This crowdfunding campaign provides a beginner-friendly update to a system that's been earning industry acclaim since it launched in 2022, but the overhaul also provides a full bestiary for the first time alongside a campaign expansion that takes us to Gondor and Rohan. This Lord of the Rings RPG revamp was aiming for $50K in crowdfunding, but hit $500,000 in around an hour. As I write this, the Backerit page is now sitting pretty at $2,089,055. I suspect it'll have jumped up again by the time you read this.

Thanks to this level of support, the crowdfunding campaign has already blown past all of its stretch goals (including cardboard standees for use on battlemaps, extra monsters, and previously unseen locations) so had to make new ones. These will either be added into the relevant books or, in the case of separate items like special dice, provided as rewards with certain pledge levels.

It isn't just The One Ring that's being given a new lick of paint, however. The system has already been adapted for D&D under a different name (The Lord of the Rings Roleplaying), and this ruleset is also getting the same three books… albeit with tweaked names as well as unique covers. They'll include the stretch goals mentioned above.

Here's what's featured within the campaign:

• Core Rules: No matter whether it's for The One Ring or its D&D equivalent, the new Core Rules provide re-ordered, clarified, and refined mechanics to make learning or reference easier. That includes tweaked combat and character creation, alongside a solo game mode – Strider Mode. This had been released previously, but was digital-only.
• Bestiary: The One Ring is finally getting a bestiary. Called "Creatures Strange and Foul" (or "Of Orcs and Evil Things" for the D&D version), this tome brings together all sorts of foes the party can cross swords with. While orcs and trolls obviously feature, you're also getting rules for the Nine Ringwraiths, Oliphaunts, dark powers like the Balrog, and more. Not all of the entries are villainous, of course; beings like Ents also feature here.
• Gondor/Rohan campaign guide: The game has largely focused on northern realms until now, so this is the first time we're getting rules to explore the southern kingdoms of Men. Besides offering detailed breakdowns of Gondor and Rohan, it's full of adventure hooks to hang new quests on. It's called "The White Tower and the Hall of Gold" for The One Ring, or "Realms of the South" for D&D.

Considering how far over the goal this campaign is, I think we can assume fans are excited about it. Frankly, I don't blame them. The One Ring has been one of my favorite roleplaying games for a long time, and it's got pride of place on our list of the best tabletop RPGs. Part of that is down to its accessible yet cinematic rules, yes, but the thing that really appeals to me as a Lord of the Rings nerd is how true to Tolkien it feels.

The novels have a specific vibe that's hard to replicate without getting carried away and veering into swords 'n' sorcery, but The One Ring manages to thread that needle. It's not just about emulating how Middle-earth should look (judging by Tolkien's writing, Dark Ages chic) or sticking to the rules of its world; it's about capturing the story's theme and heart. As an example, it turns the feeling of fellowship and encroaching shadow into key mechanics.

There's no release date for these three books yet, but the hardcover versions are estimated to ship in October 2027. You'll also receive PDF versions of them with most Backerit tier levels, though there's no date for delivery on those. If it's anything like other tabletop RPG campaigns or releases, it could well be sooner.

Six years after the series came to an end, Agents of SHIELD star Chloe Bennett is still annoyed that the show isn't considered canon in the MCU.

"I'm still low-key angry that they don't fully acknowledge this as canon – the real followers will understand that," said Bennet in an interview with Elle. "We were the first MCU TV show, and we did 130-something hour-long episodes. We spent a lot of time in people’s homes, and I spent a lot of my life playing this character and this young woman growing into her power. There’s a lot of symbolism in that, especially looking back now."

No matter how hard some Marvel fans may argue its case, Agents of SHIELD is not considered canon in the MCU. This is largely due to the show operating within its own set of rules outside of the MCU, such as time travel, and the fact it completely ignores the blip. The SHIELD timeline has also never really matched up with the MCU, making it hard to place in the MCU timeline.

Bennet was introduced to the Marvel on-screen universe in 2013 as the skilled hacker Daisy Johnson, aka Quake. In the comics, the superhero and spy has the power to create great earthquakes. In the show, we see Daisy evolve into a powerful Inhuman and core member of SHIELD, protecting the world from cosmic threats.

However, despite being irked over the whole canon debacle, Bennet is still open to returning to Marvel one day. When asked if she would even play Daisy again, Bennet said, "Totally. I’m obsessed with Daisy. I feel like I am Daisy. I would be so protective of her," adding, "I would love to play her with the growth that I’ve had since I’ve had a break from the role."

The issue is, we have never seen the main SHIELD characters in any MCU projects. But MCU characters have made cameos in the show, including Samuel L. Jackson's Nick Fury. Fans also spotted an Agents of SHIELD Easter egg in Daredevil: Born Again. So, there is some link there. Who knows, maybe Agents of SHIELD could get a reboot in years to come and make its way over to the MCU, just like Netflix's Daredevil did.

After the first season hinted at the Mortis gods being a major part of the story, Ahsoka season 2 will indeed feature the Force beings.

"It's definitely a thing," Filoni confirmed of the gods factoring into season 2 to Empire magazine.

Ahsoka season 1 ended with Baylan Skoll standing on a statue of the Father, which was pointing into the distance. Then, the first trailer for season 2 teased Baylan seeking a great power, presumably tied to these gods.

"What we're dealing with is: are you going to believe in this, or not? And what is the danger if it's real? And how are you going to prioritise your goals here?" Filoni explained. "What would a Jedi do, versus what would a regular person do? Those things come up through the course of the season."

The trio was introduced in The Clone Wars and represents different aspects of the Force. The Daughter is the light side, the Son is the dark side, and the Father is the balance. The Father wanted Anakin Skywalker, as the Chosen One, to take his place – however, Anakin refused.

This wasn't the end of the Mortis arc, though, as Anakin, Obi-Wan Kenobi, and Ahsoka Tano were put through their paces by the gods. It's a complex storyline that ends with the gods all dead: the Son kills the Daughter, and then the Father kills himself to weaken the Son enough for Anakin to kill the dark sider. Even more importantly, though, is that Ahsoka is killed by the Son, then revived by Anakin with help from the Daughter. "It's a challenge, I can tell you," Filoni shared of bringing the Mortis gods and the World Between Worlds from animation to live-action. "It was so surprising when George [Lucas] created these archetype god characters. What were we examining there in Clone Wars? What was the metaphor? A lot of it is about power, and what you do with power, and how you wield power. For a Jedi, I think it's a natural story path to get into these questions."

Ahsoka season 2 will feature the return of Hayden Christensen's Anakin Skywalker, along with Admiral Ackbar facing off against Grand Admiral Thrawn, and Ezra Bridger back in action in the main galaxy.

Marvel Studios is apparently still investing in Disney Plus TV shows, despite the news that Daredevil: Born Again is ending with season 3. In a new report suggesting the Charlie Cox-led show was coming to a close, it was revealed there are "three to five" live-action MCU series currently being developed.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, sources also suggest a new spy thriller is among those greenlit. Reportedly called Zodiac, it's thought it could be focused on a criminal organization from the comics led by a villain called Scorpio.

Regardless of what it's about, a new spy thriller could tread similar ground to Marvel's ill-fated Secret Invasion. As that show struggled to resonate with viewers, it's a genre the MCU needs to redeem itself in.

Marvel television will be making an appearance at New York Comic Con soon with a panel set for October 8. We could hear more about future MCU plans here or it may focus on the already announced animated projects (including X-Men '97 and Your Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Man) and the upcoming VisionQuest.

However, the news of more shows comes amid a question mark about whether Marvel was slowing down its production of TV shows. Wonder Man was recently canceled after its season 2 renewal and Kevin Feige had previously announced plans to streamline MCU releases in the coming years.

We'll have to wait and see what happens next for Marvel on the small screen. In the meantime, we have Avengers: Doomsday and Avengers: Secret Wars both confirmed and on the way.

Four years after it was announced, Game of Thrones star Kit Harington says he can see his shelved Jon Snow sequel series moving forward despite previously being reluctant.

"I still think there’s a world in which something could work. I wouldn’t have gone into it in the first place if I didn’t," said Harington on the Happy Sad Confused podcast. "Now I’ve gone and done all these other things, and now I feel more comfortable with that character and that world again and where it sits in my life."

The spin-off went into development in 2022, and according to Harington, was being worked on for two years. The show was set to follow Snow living in exile behind the wall after the events of the main series, broken and living alone without his direwolf Ghost or his sword Longclaw. But in 2024, Harington confirmed that the project had been scrapped because it wasn't "exciting enough," and HBO found it too downbeat.

The star says at first he was all in, but over time, he grew more reluctant to go back to the fantasy world. "I was very insistent at the start, as was HBO and George R.R. Martin. Like, 'If we don’t find the right thing, let’s not do it. It’s much better if we don’t.' After a little while of thinking about it, it kind of was me. [I said], 'This isn’t quite the right [story].'"

Not all is lost, though, as earlier this year, Drops of God's Quoc Dang Tran joined the project. The story has seemingly been refreshed, with the tale now set in Essos, with Snow's sister, Arya Stark, now reportedly involved.

However, Harington is now set to join another huge fantasy franchise as the star has been cast as Defense Against the Dark Arts professor Gilderoy Lockhart in the second season of HBO's Harry Potter series. Harington previously voiced the character for Audible's Full Cast Audio editions of the Potter books. Harington added that the Harry Potter books helped him through a difficult time in his life tackling sobriety, adding, "Lockhart is addicted to himself… It’s just a tiny step to my left [for me]."

James Gunn is standing by the decision to kill off Hal Jordan at the beginning of Lanterns. The character, played by Kyle Chandler in the HBO show, was found dead during a 2026 flash-forward at the end of episode one, appearing in 2016 flashbacks from that point onwards.

One fan took to social media to complain about this decision, calling it the "worst thing" the DCU has done so far. "Maybe you should try and at least respect the characters that made the comics popular. Killing Hal off right away after we have waited 15 years to see him on screen again was the worst thing you could have done," they wrote on Threads to the DC Studios head.

Gunn replied to the criticism, doubling down on the approach they took in the Lanterns show. "Hal's the star of TV series & he's in all the episodes so far," he wrote on Threads. "It's more live action screen time than all the live action screen time he's had combined throughout history. Kyle is amazing in the role. We more than respect him. We love him, despite his imperfections."

He went on to explain that their approach is not as simple as the fan was implying. "Us knowing the time of his death, if that's exactly what that is, is absolutely not the same thing as killing him off right away," he continued. "Hal is a big reason why the show is so popular with fans & non-fans alike; sorry if you don't like it."

It's a fair point. Hal has actually had more screen time than Superman so far, meaning that he's a huge part of the DCU. While it will likely mean he won't appear beyond Lanterns, unlike his co-star Aaron Pierre, who is reprising John Stewart in Man of Tomorrow, he is undeniably a big part of the universe on screen so far.

There is also still a question hanging over Hal's death, as Gunn hints at here when he says "if that's exactly what it is". Ever since the first episode, fans have been wondering whether Hal is actually dead or whether his body is actually a Manhunter in disguise. However, episode 6 did seemingly narrow down the potential suspects, leaving me to wonder if he is actually gone after all.

After weeks of cancellation rumors, Daredevil: Born Again season 3 will reportedly be the show's last.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, Marvel also quietly parted ways with showrunner Dario Scardapane, "whose contract was up and was not renewed." This means someone else will have to oversee the show during post-production, which is reportedly already in the final stages.

Scardapane served as showrunner for all three seasons and made a heartfelt post following the completion of season 3: "Sorry it took so long to say, but THAT'S A WRAP on production for Season 3 of Daredevil Born Again," the showrunner wrote on his Instagram story. "Thank you to Marvel and the magnificent cast and crew that made this season something very, very, very special. I'm humbled daily by the talent I get to work with. Cannot wait for you to see what all these twisted minds have come up with. #BestCrewEver"

After Wonder Man season 2 was cancelled (despite being previously renewed), fans were quick to notice that there aren't live-action Marvel shows on the release slate beyond Born Again season 3 in March 2027... making us all wonder if the age of Disney Plus MCU shows has come to an end for now. Though we do still have VisionQuest on the docket.

The third season of Born Again is supposed to give us that long-awaited MCU Defenders team-up, folding the lives of Jessica Jones, Luke Cage, and Iron Fist into one season alongside Matt Murdock's newfound journey in jail.

Lanterns showrunner Chris Mundy says it was fairly easy to include that nod to the DCU's Batman in episode 6.

"There were shockingly fewer conversations than you would think," Mundy tells GamesRadar+. "It was in [the episode] right before it. John talks about some giant squid in Metropolis. And Kerry is from Gotham, which gets name-checked in episode 2. We wanted to make sure that we were name-checking the world, just because there is a greater world out there, that we wanted to say it was a real thing for our characters, and we didn't wanna make a big deal about it, in a strange way."

In Lanterns episode 6, John and Hal meet up in 2026. At the diner, Hal complains about Guy Gardner, the present-day Green Lantern, and tells John that Guy "ripped off that Bat-guy from Gotham. Put a beacon right in the middle of the fucking town here, so people can summon him."

This isn't the first mention of the DCU's Batman, as he has a brief, non-speaking animated cameo in Creature Commandos (which is canon to the DCU), but it is the first live-action mention. As of right now, a Batman hasn't been cast (though some fans are hoping it's Reacher star Alan Ritchson). Robert Pattinson's Batman exists as part of the Elseworlds universe, meaning it's a DC property but isn't part of the actual DCU.

Following his long-awaited Lanterns episode, Guy Gardner actor Nathan Fillion has admitted that he was initially concerned about appearing in the new HBO show due to how different it is from Gardner's introduction to the DCU.

"My concern was consistency," said Fillion to Variety. "I knew there was going to be a shift in tone. What I didn’t want was for there to be a shift in the character himself." Fillion added that he was surprised he was even asked to make a cameo.

Fillion made his DCU: Chapter One debut as Guy in the much lighter 2025 movie Superman. However, the star found a way for Guy to fit into the gritty True Detective-style series. "I just likened it much to, if you were to spend a weekend in Metropolis, or spend a weekend in Gotham — you’d be the same person, but you’d have very different weekends," added Fillion.

After being absent for the first five episodes, Guy finally touches down in Rushville in episode 6. But before we saw the hero in the flesh, Fillion was able to hold onto the more comedic side of his bowl-cut-having character, as the first look came from a commercial cardboard cut-out in a grocery store. "That’s part of his schtick. He wants to not just be Green Lantern, but a famous Green Lantern," said Fillion.

Guy finally shows up after spotting the distress signal from Rushville. There, he visits Aaron Pierre's jailed John Stewart and frees him. Thanks to Superman being set around 9 years after Lantern's main 2016 timeline, we already knew that Gardner would eventually become the Green Lantern. However, it is confirmed that Guy took on the mantle after Stewart turned his back on the ring for good.

However, Guy Gardner's worlds will collide even further when he has to share the big screen with another Lantern in 2027 movie Man of Tomorrow. Pierre's John Stewart is set to appear in the Superman sequel alongside David Corenswet's Superman, Milly Alcock's Supergirl, and of course, Fillion's Guy Gardner. Adria Arjona will also join in on the fun in a mystery role, but we are almost certain she is playing Wonder Woman.

Troy Baker may have voiced some of the most iconic names in pop culture – from Joker in Arkham Origins to The Last of Us' Joel Miller – but that didn't stop him getting his marching order much earlier in his career, all thanks to one difficult script cue.

"In Fullmetal Alchemist, the first incarnation of that show, I got brought in to play this character called Greed. And the first cue is 30 seconds of building maniacal laughter," Baker recalled in an interview with Party Chat.

"I found out very quickly the limits of my ability extend right up to 30 seconds of building maniacal laughter," Baker said. "And we tried for about 15 to 20 minutes on that one 'cause every time I laughed, it was awful. It was kind of like when you let air out of a balloon… it was not good."

Baker revealed he was "fired" from the project, with the role later going to voice actor Chris Patton.

"The director was like, 'Why don't you go and step out of the booth, man?' Well, I guess I could find what I can't do and I can't laugh. Which would be a lot of fun in a few years when I had to audition for another certain character that's known to laugh."

However, Baker managed to receive a do-over as Greed – in the form of Fullmetal Alchemist Brotherhood, a remake of the anime, complete with the manga's full ending intact.

While 2003's Fullmetal Alchemist was highly regarded in its own right, Brotherhood is widely considered one of the best anime of all time. As Baker explained, it probably helped his vocal chords too.

"I got to come back and my first question when we did Brotherhood was, 'Does he have to laugh?' [The director] goes, 'No maniacal laughter on this.'"

Fans of anime will be pleased to know there's plenty on the way this fall season. The new anime lineup includes The Apothecary Diaries season 3, Dragon Ball Super: Beerus, and Cyberpunk: Edgerunners season 2, to name but a few.

Superman standout Skyler Gisondo will soon return as Jimmy Olsen in a new show, billed as a true crime documentary set in the DC universe.

That already sounds like something brand new, but Jimmy Olsen actor Gisondo has further teased how unique the show – from Tony Yacenda and Dan Perrault – is shaping up to be.

"This show, especially, is so fun because I've never seen anything like it – the idea of a mockumentary set in a superhero world. Tony [Yacenda] and Dan [Perrault] are such masters," Gisondo told Collider. "I was such an enormous fan of American Vandal, and so to be working with these guys whose work I love, I think this show is going to be a very unique angle on all of this stuff, and very unexpected in some way, and we’re having a blast.

"Similarly to the way [Primetime director] Lance [Oppenheim] works, because it's this true-crime mockumentary thing," he continued. "It's a lot of verité stuff. It always feels very alive. We're filming courthouse sequences where it's just the CCTV cams, so it feels like a play. We're just running through. So it's been really fun. We're only a little ways into it, so hopefully it turns out alright."

The first season will focus on Gorilla Grodd, and he's already stolen hearts thanks to set photos that hit the internet of the ape at college.

The People v. Gorilla Grodd doesn't yet have a release date. Next up for DC is Clayface, while Lanterns is releasing weekly now.

Next month sees the return of Paul Bettany's hard-wired hero Vision in his own MCU television show, VisionQuest. To keep the hype going, three new posters have been released highlighting the hero, his old nemesis, Ultron (James Spader), and his estranged son, Tommy (Ruaridh Mollica), whom he'll have to reconnect with, or save from drowning, by the looks of things.

They're certainly a lovely set that shows the tone the new series will be going for, but naturally Marvel fans are trying desperately to read between the carefully placed lines. On closer inspection, they've theorized that the art is teasing three other characters who haven't appeared yet and haven't been officially announced. With Vision, Ultron, and Tommy each on a different floor in each poster, the guess is that Wanda (Elizabeth Olsen), Billy Maximoff (Joe Locke), and Agatha Harkness (Kathryn Hahn) might be on the other three.

Second-guessing things in a Vision-centric story isn't anything new for MCU fans, given the lengthy debate about whether Mephisto was going to turn up in WandaVision at some point (oof, remember those days?). That, of course, wouldn't happen, and the lord of the underworld wouldn't make himself known until the ending of Ironheart.

Of course, there's also the possibility that three more posters could make an appearance displaying the other characters that will be holding up residence in Vision's home, including the original Jarvis (James D'Arcy), Friday (Orla Brady) or E.D.I.T.H. (Emily Hampshire). For now, we'll just have to wait and see who calls the lift when VisionQuest arrives on Disney+ on October 14.

The trend of mad-capped cameos and character reveals in The Big Bang Theory spin-off Stuart Fails to Save the Universe continued this week when the gang found themselves in the DC Universe and were saved from Mr. Freeze by Jay Garrick, aka The Flash. It's a wonderfully world-breaking moment, but one that could've been considerably different with an added Green Lantern glow, if only they'd got the go-ahead.

Speaking to Deadline about their latest episode aptly titled 'We Couldn't Get The Green Lantern,' the show's co-creator, Zak Penn, recalled that when it came to making the request for a member of the Green Lantern Corps to drop in and save the day, he, along with creative colleagues Chuck Lorre and Bill Prady, got the answer they feared.

"They told us we couldn’t have him because of Lanterns, which I understood," he explained. From there, they had to pick another hero from the DC Universe, and the idea came in a flash.

''Chuck was a little grumbly about it, but Bill and I pointed out to him that Flash was actually perfect. If we needed something that's going from dimension to dimension, Flash worked even better than Green Lantern." Nailing this inclusion down, along with Mr. Freeze, was handled so well after the folks at DC Comics, including artist, writer, and CCO Jim Lee, gave notes on how to handle Garrick and this mismatched foe of Batman (which the episode jokes about).

"They were great," Penn assured. "They basically said, 'How can we help? Other than we won't give you Green Lantern.'" After hitting the mark so well with a pair of brilliant DC heroes and villains this time around, there's no telling who might appear in the second season, which has now been (ahem) greenlit. There are plenty of other Lanterns to use, after all.

The first sight of crispy orange leaves always leaves me with one desire: "It's time for an Over the Garden Wall rewatch." Yet until recently, this was a pretty arduous task. And I really mean recent, as the latest Blu-ray print of the perfectly autumnal 10-episode animated series launched on April 7 earlier this very year.

Before the $17.95 / £14.99 (via Amazon) Blu-ray dropped, the existing release was stuck on random streaming sites and DVD. Even if you did manage to catch a physical copy, it was consistently listed for upwards of $100, which was too much, no matter how much I adore Wirt and Greg's adventures into the Unknown. Thankfully, stressing over sourcing the beloved series for a rewatch is no longer an issue, and I've gathered the best places to grab your copy down below, so all you have to worry about is sourcing the pumpkin spice lattes, blankets (and maybe some potatoes and molasses) for your cozy, fall rewatch.

Regardless of where you go to pick up your Over the Garden Wall copy, the contents of the disc will remain the same. Which is entirely alright with me, as that means you've got all 10 episodes in lovely 1080p to gawk over and rewatch whenever the moment calls for it. And no moment calls for it quite like the autumnal season.

While this release is pretty simple, with no fancy slipcover and no insert describing the episodes inside, there are some special features. You've got Tome of the Unknown included, which was a 2013 animated short created by series creator Patrick Hale. It was the precursor and inspiration for the entire Over the Garden Wall series, so it's a great inclusion to have a bit of its history available on this Blu-ray release.

There are also commentary tracks, alternative title cards, deleted animatics, a behind-the-scenes feature, and a "composer's cut" which allows you to play each episode without any dialogue tracks. That may seem like a bizarre inclusion for some, but having that running in the background while I put up my Halloween decorations sounds like the absolute perfect evening to me.

While that's all she wrote for this release, there is more physical Over the Garden Wall goodies where it came from. The brand-new Funko POPS are now available to pre-order starting from $15.99 at Amazon, set to release on October 25. US Amazon has both Wirt and Gregory in their adorable little red cap and teapot hat glory. My favorite detail is easily the tiny version of Beatrice perched on Wirt's hand that's so adorable I may have to start collecting POPs again, words I never thought I'd utter.

Ruaridh Mollica, who will make his MCU debut as Tommy Shepherd in VisionQuest, is playing coy about whether his character will have his superpowers or not.

Tommy first appeared in WandaVision as a child, but an older version of the character is set to appear in the Vision-centric show.

But when ScreenRant asked Mollica if his superspeed powers would factor into VisionQuest, Mollica kept his cards close to his chest and answered: "This is a mystery that I am not comfortable answering."

VisionQuest sees Paul Bettany return as the titular synthezoid, alongside a cast that includes James Spader's Ultron, Orla Brady's Friday, and James D'Arcy's Jarvis.

As it turns out, Mollica's Tommy is part of the only mandate that Marvel boss Kevin Feige gave the show.

"There's always a direct line of communication with Kevin and [Marvel's head of television] Brad Winderbaum. They're a text away. But for the most part, we had a lot of creative freedom to tell Vision's story the way we wanted to. There were no borders we needed to be mindful of," showrunner Terry Matalas explained recently.

"Kevin was very receptive to this crazy idea from the beginning. He called me and said that it's the story of Vision, he's going to meet his son, and he's like, 'The rest is up to you.'"

One person who most likely won't factor into the show, though, is Elizabeth Olsen's Wanda Maximoff. She seemingly died in Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness, a fate that Vision will be aware of in the new show.

VisionQuest showrunner Terry Matalas has confirmed that the Marvel show hasn't used any generative AI in the making of it. This is in spite of the fact that the series, which features the human versions of several AI characters who exist in Vision's head, would have had a pretty perfect excuse.

"No, not at all," Matalas confirmed to ScreenRant about not using it. "There hasn't really been a need. All the designs nod to how our current form of AI processes things... That felt like a fun way for us to comment on it."

As hinted here, production designer Will Hughes-Jones found a fun way to nod to the world of AI as we know it in the show. He's incorporated details about how AI gets it wrong in Vision's Mindspace, including stair bannisters that lead nowhere, chairs built into walls, and wonky furniture.

Marvel has used generative AI in the past, including in the TV show Secret Invasion, which used it for its title sequence. However, generally, it has not played a big role in the creation of MCU movies and shows.

VisionQuest has been described as a "sequel" to WandaVision, and picks up with White Vision at the end of that show. Restored with memories but with no emotional connection to them, the series sees him trying to understand his humanity and past as he engages with fellow AI and his creator, Ultron, in his head.

Meanwhile, he's also dealing with the very real threat of a bounty hunter on his tail and a partnership with a young man who might be his son. VisionQuest arrives on Disney Plus on October 14. When Man of Tomorrow arrives in theaters next year, it'll bring with it (presumably) fully fledged Green Lantern John Stewart (Aaron Pierre), fresh off the show Lanterns. He won't be the only character getting his own show making an appearance, though, as Superman's best friend, Jimmy Olsen, will also have one, even if it has Gorilla Grodd's name on it and not his.

The People v. Gorilla Grodd is an upcoming show set for release on HBO Max and will be shot like a true-crime docuseries, hosted by Daily Planet reporter Jimmy Olsen (Skyler Gisondo). Naturally, with the DC Universe on such a busy schedule, fans have been wondering where in the timeline it'll take place, and thankfully Gisondo has cleared things up. Kind of.

"I think it’s somewhere before the events of the movies [Superman and Man of Tomorrow]," the actor theorized to Screen Rant before seemingly correcting himself. "I think it's sort of somewhere in between the two. I don't know, I should probably know the answer. I think the idea is it's kind of like, almost adjacent to this main timeline but before the events of the second movie." So no scenes of him rushing off to interview a talking gorilla in Man of Tomorrow, then? Got it.

By the sounds of things, that seems like a good route to take. The People vs. Gorilla Grodd feels like perhaps one of the wildest live-action entries in the DCU, with Olsen and a team of journalists trying to review Grodd’s prison sentencing after being charged with his father’s murder in Gorilla City. Was he innocent, or was the super-intelligent fella just being a really bad ape, after all?

Joining Gisondo will be Jimmy Tatro, who will play Grodd, along with some Daily Planet familiars. Beck Bennet will star as Steve Lombard, Mikaela Hoover is Cat Grant, and Wendell Pierce will be back as the scene-chewing star and editor-in-chief of the Daily Planet, Perry White.

There's no confirmed release date set for the show just yet, mind. It's currently filming though while Man of Tomorrow has wrapped. So even if it does take place before, our money is that it will release after. Noah Hawley and Rob Mac's Far Cry series just gained a massive batch of stars to add to its cast list, and they make for a very interesting combination. Variety reports that Mac, who is both writing and taking the lead role alongside Lizzy Caplan and Steve Buscemi, will be joined by Brendan Gleeson (Spider-Noir), Jennifer Jason Leigh (The Hateful Eight), Hamish Linklater (Midnight Mass), Sam Spruell (Alien: Earth), and Jamie Demetriou (The Afterparty) in the first season.

No plot details or characters have been revealed for the upcoming series. However, it has been confirmed that the show will use the video game franchise as its blueprint and make each season a standalone story, with an entirely new cast. This creative route fits Hawley's expertise, since he used the same approach to make another well-known property his own with the Fargo series, which jumped through decades with every visit.

That similarity is what drew Hawley to the project. Speaking to Deadline about the show, the co-showrunner and writer explained, "It was an exciting idea that we could build an anthology game adaptation where each season is a different story about civilized people thrown into situations where they have to become increasingly uncivilized."

It's another impressive example of a video game being adapted and taken absolutely seriously. Just this week, Netflix announced it has signed off on a Crazy Taxi show, as well as a series based on the unreleased upcoming title, Stranger Than Heaven. Let's also not forget that Resident Evil, which takes a bite out of theaters this week, has also just become the highest-rated live-action video game adaptation ever on Rotten Tomatoes.

Currently, there's no confirmed release date for the show, but production will take place at Pinewood Studios in London. This works out nicely for Hawley, who will also be based there for Alien: Earth. Here's hoping a Xenomorph doesn't stumble off the premises and onto a tropical island or into the middle of a drug war. Lanterns fans might've spotted something in the subtitles of last week's episode that gives away a massive bit of info regarding Hal Jordan (Kyle Chandler) and his status after the attack on Rushville. In episode 5 – 'Lights Out' –John Stewart (Aaron Pierre) returns to an injured Hal buried under rubble, where the replacement finally takes the ring from his mentor. However, what was already an emotional chat between the two might've held some interesting secrets, given that the Spanish subtitles refer to Hal as “Clone de Hal," which literally means "Hal Clone."

From there, theories have emerged that the Hal John is speaking to isn't the real Green Lantern, but a Halogram created from the ring. The last time we saw one was when Hal chipped off a bit of the ring, seemingly activating the projection of his younger self, and sending him off to do recon. We don't see him again after that.

Keeping this in mind, is there a chance that somehow Hal had created a more recent projection of himself (he's definitely aged and wearing the same clothes) in order to somehow get away, leaving one behind to have the chat with John. If that's the case, though, what plans might Hal have in place, and could they include faking his death, which we know isn't too far away?

With three episodes left (as teased by the mid-season trailer yesterday), we might find out whether this theory has any weight, or if it was just a subtitle error from whoever was writing them that day. For every other upcoming DC movies and shows in development, check out our guide.

A new mid-season trailer for Lanterns has arrived online, hyping up the final three episodes of the critically acclaimed series that we’re pretty positive isn’t going to end on a bright note. For one, the closer we get to the end, the closer we are to Hal Jordan's demise, which is a real pity given how exceptional a job Kyle Chandler has done with the character.

Following the events of episode 5 – “Lights Out” – the show jumps forward ten years, when John Stewart (Aaron Pierre) returns to Rushville after leaving it in ruins and to his former mentor, who is clearly still sore about being replaced. Sometime after this incredibly tense reunion, Guy Gardner (Nathan Fillion) will finally make an appearance, and we might hopefully learn just how Earth’s newest Green Lantern and former “Athletic Director” ended up with the ring after John turned it down.

It’s also worth noting that even though Hal might be dead, someone who has an incredibly similar build looks to be accompanying John on his journey across what looks like a dead wasteland. Could the Hal-ogram be back in action, and once again give us a rarely seen chipper Hal from his younger years? Honestly, at this point, whatever gives us more of Chandler playing the greatest Green Lantern to ever live, the better.

From there, we get glimpses of John seemingly going off-world and crossing paths with the teacher who taught his teacher, Thaal Sinestro (Ulrich Thomsen), plus one shot that will no doubt get GLC fans in a tizzy. Could this all have been leading to Sinestro getting to work on a yellow ring, or indeed his own corps, just like in the comics? Or could something even worse be on the horizon, and John, who has spent years being fearless, be about to use fear as a weapon? Like Sinestro says, “fear can be the most powerful force in the universe.”

Sinners star Michael B. Jordan loves anime so much, he might just make it for the rest of his career.

The actor won the Best Actor award for his dual roles as Smoke and Stack in the 2025 vampire movie, which picked up three other awards at the same ceremony, including Best Director for Ryan Coogler.

In a new interview with Vogue, Jordan spoke about his passion for anime. The publication states he has projects in early development, and Jordan himself joked: "I might just quit it all and make anime the rest of my life."

Jordan's love for anime is very well known at this point, and he previously revealed his favorite movie ever is Studio Ghibli's Princess Mononoke. We're looking forward to seeing his anime projects someday… though we also hope he isn't really planning on quitting acting.

Anime has been having quite the cultural moment lately, with the Demon Slayer: Infinity Castle movie outgrossing Superman last year.

Sinners director Coogler, meanwhile, will be returning to Marvel for Black Panther 3, which stars David Jonsson as T'Challa II and Denzel Washington in a mystery role. That film will arrive in 2028.

"In this next film, he grows up, comes of age, and we had to find an incredible actor," Coogler shared of Jonsson's T'Challa.
