Although San Diego Comic-Con 2023 wasn't exactly what we were expecting this year, all the new SDCC toys and action figures that were announced still managed to impress. Or weird us out. Often at the same time, actually.

Everything from Marvel Legends to Funko delivered cool collectibles for this year's event, and while some were to be expected (more additions to Star Wars The Vintage Collection, for example), others took us totally by surprise. SDCC toys of Steven Spielberg shooting Jurassic Park? A Magicarp made up of Mega bricks that flops about? I mean, sure. Why not? 

Because a lot was unveiled, I've whittled the list down to my favorite SDCC toys, collectibles, and action figures right here.  

New X-Men '97 figures

Hasbro's been gradually delving deeper into the X-Men Animated Series roster, and now it's created a new wave for the upcoming X-Men '97. And dear lord, these action figures are good-looking. Along with classic 1990s Gambit and Rogue (read: the best ones), Wolverine, Magneto, Storm and Bishop all look incredible. From shots on the show-floor, they're just as handsome in person too.

Unfortunately, we don't know when these are hitting shelves or how much they'll cost. However, Marvel Legends marketer Dan Yung noted in a reply on his Twitter account that we could get more info next week.

Mega Magicarp

Mega is a rival to those classic Danish bricks seen in the best Lego sets, and it's been used to create kits for everything from Gyarados to Charmander. Now comes a quasi-sequel (or should that be prequel?) to the former - Magicarp. It's a gloriously goofy idea and comes with a handle on the base so that you can make the Poke-fish flop around. Wonderful.

You can pre-order it direct from Mattel for $65. 

Star Wars The Vintage Collection Ghost

While the new Vintage Collection Imperial Officers from the original trilogy (available from Hasbro Pulse for $59.99) are cool and all, they're overshadowed both literally and metaphorically by the new Ghost. This massive figure recreates the ship from Rebels and Ahsoka in painstaking detail, so it's no surprise that HasLab's crowdfunding campaign for it succeeded. It may be $499.99 at Hasbro Pulse, but when you look at the extensive detailing both inside and out (extending to a detachable extra craft and a cockpit with each character's personalized seat), that's no surprise.

Steven Spielberg (Jurassic Park 30th Anniversary)

There's something gloriously absurd about getting an action figure of Steven Spielberg filming Jurassic Park this SDCC. I mean, don't get me wrong. He's one of the greats and this is a really cool way of honoring him. The fact that it's sold out at Mattel already is another indicator of how in-demand it is. But seeing toy-Spielberg set up in dioramas 'filming' other action figures shooting the movie tickles me. 

You can see it on Mattel's store where it would go for $30... but for now, it's out of stock.

Knightfall 30th Anniversary Batman

One of the few villains to ever break Batman was Bane during the Dark Knight's Knightfall storyline, and this action figure by McFarlane harkens back to that era with a premium, seven-inch take on the character's '90s costume. Unfortunately, it was only sold at SDCC 2023, so anyone who didn't make it to the show might be out of luck in terms of picking up their own version.

AMC has finally unveiled a first look at the upcoming Rick and Michonne focused spin-off series, newly titled The Walking Dead: The Ones Who Live, which sees Andrew Lincoln and Danai Gurira reunite on-screen for the first time in almost five years.

The trailer debuted during the show's panel at San Diego Comic-Con on Friday, July 21. Lincoln and Gurira were unable to attend the event, due to the ongoing SAF-AFTRA strike in the US.

Teasing an "epic love story" between its two leads, the new horror-drama's logline reads: "Kept apart by distance. By an unstoppable power. By the ghosts of who they were. Rick and Michonne are thrown into another world, built on a war against the dead... And ultimately, a war against the living. 

"Can they find each other and who they were in a place and situation unlike any they've ever known before? Are they enemies? Lovers? Victims? Victors? Without each other, are they even alive – or will they find that they, too, are the Walking Dead?"

The last time viewers saw Rick and Michonne, it was right at the very end of The Walking Dead series finale – and the pair were certainly not together. Heck, they weren't even on the same timeline. You see, in Michonne's side of the epilogue, she appeared to be writing to Judith (Cailey Fleming) by a campfire and, more crucially, in the possession of some of Rick's belongings; an engraved iPhone and some boots. 

In his scene, Rick is held up by a Civic Republic Military helicopter on a muddy bank on Bloodsworth Island, the place where Michonne found said belongings back in The Walking Dead season 10. With that, we could assume that Rick's scene happened in the past, while Michonne's is taking place in the present.

Also at SDCC, it was revealed that AMC has ordered a second season of other spin-off shows Dead City and the upcoming Daryl Dixon series. The news was announced at San Diego Comic-Con, with the official Walking Dead Twitter account releasing a video. "Thank you all for making Dead City a hit," the text reads. "AMC Plus's most-watched series ever... So, we thought you all... might like to know... Dead City will be back for season 2."

The Walking Dead: The Ones Who Live is expected to premiere in 2024, but it currently doesn't have a release date. Meanwhile the season finale of Dead City airs on Sunday and Daryl Dixon is set for release on October 10.

Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania merchandise has revealed the first proper look at Marvel villain MODOK's MCU debut. The character was confirmed to be part of the film back at SDCC, but the footage featuring him hasn't been released to the public just yet. 

As you can see in the picture below, MODOK's MCU design is distinctly metallic, with the villain gold all over. He has some fierce-looking red eyes and bared teeth, and his chair is floating on a jet of air. The look is fairly comic accurate, with the same purple limbs and pink stone in his forehead; though, in the source material, MODOK's face is usually uncovered. 

The merchandise also reveals another look at Kang the Conqueror, set to become the MCU's new Thanos-level big bad, as well as Scott Lang and Hope van Dyne in their costumes.

This isn't the first time MODOK (which stands for Mobile Organism Designed Only for Killing) has been brought to screen – Patton Oswalt voiced the character in a Hulu stop-motion series, but the show was cancelled by the streamer.  

New Quantumania footage debuted at Brazil Comic-Con, revealing Scott in a sticky situation. The clip reportedly saw Scott and his daughter Cassie in separate cells, being held in some kind of prison, with Kang asking Scott to steal something in exchange for his freedom. But, Scott says no, which angers Kang. 

Paul Rudd returns as Ant-Man, while the rest of the cast includes Evangeline Lilly as Hope, aka the Wasp, Michael Douglas as Hank Pym, Michelle Pfeiffer as Janet Van Dyne, Kathryn Newton as Cassie, and Bill Murray in an unknown role. There's also no word on who's playing MODOK just yet.

Maggie and Negan’s spin-off from The Walking Dead has got a new title. Previously called Isle of the Dead, AMC has decided to rename it The Walking Dead: Dead City. There doesn’t seem to be any specific reason for the change, other than that Isle of the Dead was just a working title for the show.

The spin-off was confirmed back in March for a six-episode first season. It will follow the two central TWD characters, played by Lauren Cohan and Jeffrey Dean Morgan, traveling to post-apocalyptic Manhattan, which has been cut off from the mainland. According to AMC, what they’ll find is a crumbling city that has been taken over by walkers.

Filming recently got underway in New Jersey with the show set to be released in 2023. As of yet, it’s not clear what the reason behind Maggie and Negan’s team-up is. It’s fair to say that the characters do not see eye-to-eye in the show, given that Negan made his introduction to TWD when he bashed Maggie’s husband Glenn’s head in. 

Since then, the pair have had uneasy tension so it’s likely the remaining episodes of The Walking Dead may find time to set up their new spin-off. The show will return to AMC with its final run of episodes on October 2. The news was confirmed during TWD’s panel at San Diego Comic-Con back in July. 

There are only eight episodes left in the final season, which the show’s chief content officer Scott Gimple said would finish the story, rather than focusing solely on setting up the numerous spin-offs on their way.

"The finale is about completing The Walking Dead story, not setting up spin-offs," Gimple said at SDCC. "There's room for those spin-offs, but full-on, The Walking Dead finale concludes the story of this 11 years. We didn't want the spin-offs to get in the way of that satisfaction. They live together, I think, very nicely."

Writer Tom Taylor and artist Trevor Hairsine will return to their zombified version of the DC Universe for what the publisher calls the "final chapter" of the DCeased saga in DCeased: War of the Undead Gods.

War of the Undead Gods will run for eight issues starting in August, and will focus on the fallout from the return of the DCeased universe's version of Darkseid, who was resurrected at the conclusion of DCeased: Dead Planet. 

Batman, Superman, and Wonder Woman will have to unite with "the most powerful surviving hero from the first DCeased series" who may be the world's "only hope."

DC has previously published four DCeased series, starting with the original (simply called DCeased, of course), as well as DCeased: Dead Planet, DCeased: Unkillables, and DCeased: Hope at World's End. DCeased: War of the Undead Gods is billed as the finale for the entire epic tale - though who's to say a zombie story couldn't be resurrected again at some point?

DC revealed an extended look at DCeased: War of the Undead Gods at San Diego Comic-Con and now they've released some fully-lettered pages from the debut issue:

DCeased: War of the Undead Gods will feature a variety of covers, with series artist Trevor Hairsine providing the main covers, Francesco Mattina providing horror-themed variants, and Kael Ngu creating special edition acetate variant covers. 

DC also debuted covers for issues #2-3 at SDCC. See them all below, alongside the covers for issue #1.

Meanwhile, Batman/Superman: World's Finest artist Dan Mora will provide a series of four interlocking covers that combine to pay homage to Jim Lee's cover of X-Men #1, a popular reference point for several recent homage covers, and one of the best selling comics of all time.

DCeased: War of the Undead Gods #1 goes on sale August 8. 

Should DCeased have a place among the best horror comics of all time?

For All Mankind has been renewed for season 4, it was announced at the show's San Diego Comic-Con panel. Season 3 is still releasing weekly on Apple TV Plus, and production on the fourth installment is due to start next month.  

The series tells the story of an alternate history where the Soviet Union beat the US to land on the Moon first and the space race doesn't end. Season 1 opened in 1969, while the latest installment brings up to the '90s with the focus of the space race shifting to Mars. Co-creator Matt Wolpert revealed to Deadline at SDCC that season 4 will take place in the 2000s. 

"I’m thrilled that we get to keep going forward in this amazing story," co-creator Ronald D. Moore told the publication. "Right from the beginning it was my hope that it would be a long, multi-year journey. It’s gratifying to see what we’ve done and I’m looking forward to seeing what we can do in the future."

The series' cast includes Joel Kinnaman as NASA astronaut Edward Baldwin, based on Apollo 10 commander Thomas P. Stafford, Shantel VanSanten as Edward's wife, and Jodi Balfour as a former astronaut and president of the US, Sonya Walger, along with Krys Marshall, Cynthy Wu, Casey Johnson, Coral Peña, and Wrenn Schmidt.

For All Mankind season 3 is currently streaming on Apple TV Plus, with the season finale premiering on July 29. While we wait for season 4 to get a release date, check out our picks of the other best new TV shows coming our way this year.

The Black Widow movie has been announced at San Diego Comic Con 2019. the movie has been filming in the UK for some time and is just one of a handful of new properties to arrive as part of Marvel Phase 4,.

Scarlett Johansson is back as the eponymous ass-kicking Avenger, having previously appeared as the character in multiple other MCU movies. She will be joined by Midsommar actress Florence Pugh as Yelena, a "sister figure" to Natasha Romanoff, Stranger Things acotor David Harbour (who will play the character Alexi), Rachel Weisz, and O-T Fagbenle. It was revealed that Black Widow will face off against the villain Taskmaster.

The Black Widow movie will be directed by Cate Shortland, and will debut in cinemas on May 1, 2020, the first of the Phase 4 movies.

Of course, there’s also the small matter of where it all fits into the timeline (and if you thought the Marvel timeline was confusing before, just you wait). Despite being a Marvel Phase 4 addition, the Black Widow movie will take place between Captain America: Civil War and Avengers: Infinity War. 

"They've known each other for a while and there's a complex history there," Harbour told IGN. "This movie happens right after Captain America: CIvil War, and so those events do factor in."

Thor: Love and Thunder has been announced at San Diego Comic Con 2019. One of a handful of new properties to arrive as part of Marvel Phase 4, Thor 4 will continue the story of Chris Hemsworth's God of Thunder post-Avengers: Endgame and also introduce a female Thor - played by none other than Natalie Portman. Tessa Thompson will also return as Valkyrie.

Taika Waititi will be back to direct the film, having also helmed Thor: Ragnarok. Waititi apparently moved on from his live-action adaptation of Akira to get to work on Thor 4. 

Thor: Love and Thunder, which will take inspiration from Jason Aaron’s Mighty Thor run, will reach cinemas November 5, 2021.

Also at the Hall H panel, Marvel head Kevin Feige confirmed The Eternals, Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings and Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness will also make up part of Phase 4. The head of Marvel also announced a Blade movie, starring Mahershala Ali, and teased that the Fantastic Four are coming to the MCU. Read all about the Marvel SDCC panel here.

Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness has been announced at San Diego Comic Con 2019. One of a handful of new properties to arrive as part of Marvel Phase 4, Doctor Strange 2 will continue the story of Benedict Cumberbatch's Sorcerer Supreme.

While details regarding the plot remain thin, we do know that Elizabeth Olsen will return as the Scarlett Witch in the movie. Considering she will later appear in WandaVision, we expect she may go about trying to save Vision.

Despite Doctor Strange’s powers proved more than a match for Thanos in Avengers: Endgame, expect him to be getting knocked into the fifth dimension by Baron Mordo, who betrayed Strange during the first movie. Scott Derrickson is back to direct, and C. Robert Cargil will be penning the script.

Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness will reach cinemas May 7 2021.

 Shang-Chi: And the Legend of the Ten Rings has been announced at San Diego Comic Con 2019. One of a handful of new properties to arrive as part of Marvel Phase 4, Shang-Chi - also known as the Master of Kung Fu - will be Marvel Studio's first lead Asian superhero, and will be played by Simu Liu.

Destin Daniel Cretton (who worked with Captain Marvel herself Brie Larson on The Glass Castle) has signed on to direct the movie. Tony Leung will play the villain The Mandarin in the movie, with Awkwafina playing a supporting role

Shang-Chi will reach cinemas February 12, 2021.

San Diego Comic Con is the biggest pop-culture event on the planet and this year looks set to be extremely exciting. Unfortunately, unless you have shelled out a few hundred bucks (and in some cases, flown halfway across the world) to be there, there’s a good chance you’re going to miss out on the best bits from each panel, booth, and special experience San Diego Comic Con has to offer. 

That’s where we come in. Here’s our guide on how to get all the latest news from San Diego Comic Con 2019 without having to leave the comfort of your own home.

First, a word of caution: a lot of the exclusive panels, including the iconic Hall H, are not officially streamed, and while the panels usually end up on YouTube, the quality is often awful as Comic Con wants to ensure the exclusivity of the event. As such, it's hard to pin down exactly where and when you can watch every event – but we’ll do our best to help you avoid the missing out. And don't worry if you're busy/asleep while everything is going on as the GamesRadar, Total Film and SFX crew will be reporting on any and all of the big news, footage, and reveals coming out of Comic Con, so you won't miss a thing. 

When can I watch San Diego Comic Con 2018?

Thursday July 18 is when things kick off properly, starting with a panel on the forthcoming Terminator movie. That’ll be followed by plenty more exciting panels and the rest Comic Con has to offer every day up until Sunday July 21.

How can I watch San Diego Comic Con 2018?

This is a tough one. There aren’t expected to be any official live streams of San Diego Comic Con 2019, with the majority of clips coming after the fact. 

Marvel are likely to debut a few trailers from their upcoming Marvel Phase 4 announcement online following the event on Saturday. And AMC is bound to be showcasing The Walking Dead season 10 online as well.

The best thing you can do is make sure you're tuned into the GamesRadar, Total Film and SFX Twitter feeds. We have journalists on the ground who will be tweeting along with events, and news writers working their hardest to get you the news when it happens.

Aquaman

At long last, we’ve finally got our first proper glimpse at James Wan’s Aquaman and boy it does not disappoint. Taking us back to Arthur Curry as a youngster to the moment he realises what he’s destined for, this looks like the movie that could put the DC Extended Universe back on the map.

Shazam!

Finally, a touch of genuine humour appears to be taking place in Warner Bros’ DC universe. Our first look at Shazam! highlights the film’s amusing Big-esque premise, as the young Billy Batson figures out how to transform from his typical teenage self into the spandexed adult superhero, played by Zachary Levi.

Godzilla: King of the Monsters

In case the 2014 Godzilla didn’t quite make this point, Charles Dance does in the first trailer for its sequel, Godzilla: King of the Monsters. This scaly beast is the KING. But if he’s the king, what the hell are the rest of the beasts he’s destined to tussle with? To be honest, that doesn’t even seem to be the biggest question I have after watching this trailer. That would be: err, so the world’s survival depends on scheduling a kaiju playdate?

Fantastic Beasts: The Crimes of Grindelwald

Fantastic Beasts: The Crimes of Grindelwald  may sound like some *epic* Potter fanfic, but it’s actually the sequel to last year’s spin-off, Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them. This deep dive trailer gives us a glimpse at what’s next for Eddie Redmayne’s Newt Scamander in the Wizarding World. As expected we’re shown a smattering of flashback scenes signaling the young Newt’s first dalliances with magic and Jude Law as the very dapper and youthful Albus Dumbledore.

Glass

The first trailer for Glass shows Split's Kevin Wendell Crumb and Unbreakable's David Dunn and Mr Glass being questioned by psychiatrist Dr Ellie Staple (played by Sarah Paulson), who considers them to be delusional. Prepare for the return of The Beast, and to see how Dunn's super powers help when he has to take him on. "A lot of people are going to die," says Mr Glass, ominously. "Are you ready?"

The Walking Dead

Even long time viewers weren't too excited about The Walking Dead season 9 after last season... that is until it dropped one hell of a Comic Con trailer! With the war now (mostly) behind them, Rick and co. seem to thriving and building a new world... until some sort of civil war kicks off between the different settlements. Oh, and did you notice the tease for the season's 'big baddies' The Whisperers at the end?

Star Trek Discovery

Star Trek Discovery season 1 was a wild ride, boldly going where the franchise had never gone before, and season 2 looks to continue that streak with a flashy and exciting Comic Con trailer. As well as teasing the main plot for season 2 - what are those signals about? - it looks like the second season will bring in some familiar Star Trek faces, including the one and only Spock. As Captain Pike says, hit it!

Star Wars: The Clone Wars

We've waited a long time to get our first proper look at the new Doctor and while this teaser may be short, it's definitely maintained our hype levels as Jodie Whittaker's Doctor asks Graham, Ryan, and Yasmin to be her new BFFs. Awwww. The teaser promises "new faces, new worlds, new times" and features some pretty beautiful landscapes in its 40 seconds as well.

Fear the Walking Dead

As well as a trailer for the new season of The Walking Dead we also got a Comic Con trailer for Fear the Walking Dead season 4, which seems to be teasing some sort of extreme weather! Plus, check out The Walking Dead crossover character Morgan who puts in a significant appereance in this teaser too.

Iron Fist

Despite Iron Fist season 1 getting... 'mixed' reviews, season 2 is well on its way and the first trailer has been released at Comic Con. It seems to be teasing a distinctly darker Danny Rand, which might imply that the show is heading in a different direction this time around, but either way Iron Fist will be back kicking ass soon. 

Better Call Saul

Breaking Bad spin-off Better Call Saul will soon return for its fourth season and fans of the original show will spot a reference to a character from the series in the Comic Con trailer above. Tony Dalton will play Lalo, a character referenced in season 2 of Breaking Bad, but unseen until now.

Nightflyers

Game of Thrones fans, get ready to fall in love with another George R. R. Martin TV show! Nightflyers - based on the author's other book - debuted its first trailer at SDCC and it teases an intense series, which appears to mix sci-fi and horror in a similar way to the original Alien movie.

Good Omens

Less of a trailer and more of a behind-the-scenes sneak peek at the making of new Amazon Prime Original Good Omens, the above Comic Con teaser shows us just how much has gone into adapting the book of the same name by Neil Gaiman and Terry Pratchett. With the interviews with some of the cast, including David Tennant and Michael Sheen, it appears to be an incredible elaborate TV show. 

Disenchantment

Here we get our first look at the new series from The Simpsons and Futurama creator Matt Groening. Disenchantment looks to be continuing Groening’s love of jet black comedy, this time set in a Medieval world where we meet Bean, a princess desperate to take control of her life, and Elfo, an elf eager for bigger and better things, and Luci, who’s a demonic sprite. All in all, it’s a promising tease for what could be your new favourite show, that’s set to debut on Netflix next month.

The Purge

We've just had the most recent Purge movie, but The Purge TV show is coming very soon as well and we got out first look thanks to the above Comic Con trailer. It seems to have captured the gory terror of the movie franchise, but time will tell if the series can maintain that level of fear over multiple episodes. 

Preacher

If you’ve been keeping up with AMC’s other bonkers comic book adaptation, you’ll be excited to see the trailer for what remains of Preacher season 3. It appears to be continuing down its path of insanity, as the tale of Jesse Custer, a drunken, chain-smoking preacher, gets all the more irreverent when the Allfather makes an appearance.

Arrow

Sometimes it can take a while for a comic book show to really pay homage to its roots. For fans of Arrow, one of those elements is coming to the small screen. Well, I say elements, when what I really mean is: Oliver Queen’s comic beard will at last make an appearance in Arrow season 7. Oliver’s stint in SuperMax will at last see the do-gooder don his iconic goatee… 

Supergirl

With the season 3 finale dropping somewhat of a big reveal, we’ve now got a glimpse at Supergirl season 4 in the first-look trailer that dropped during the show’s panel. And, while a majority of the footage is recycled from old seasons, we get a look at Kara wearing a new armored suit toward the end. 

The Flash

The Flash is about to get every weirder than usual as the Comic Con trailer for the new season reveals how Barry and Iris' handle their daughter's arrival from the future. It also give us a sneak peek at the upcoming season's new big bad, Cicada and he does not look like someone to mess with.

The Orville

Wearing its genre stripes proudly, Seth McFarlane’s comedy that doesn’t involve satirical animations is an absolute blast that’s somehow not yet hit the mainstream. Hopefully things will change for The Orville in season 2, as its latest trailer hints at more sci-fi homage excellence to come. We’ll find out when it debuts December 30, 2018.

Legends of Tomorrow 

The CW has dropped the trailer for season 4 for Legends of Tomorrow, which looks to be picking up where season 3 left off. With the Legends having allowed for time to crumble, the boundaries and barriers between worlds weakened, letting a whole new glut of baddies into the fray - namely? The Fugitives. Sadly nothing to do with Harrison Ford, this is a catch-all term for creatures from myths and legends. 

The Man in the High Castle

It feels like an age since Amazon dropped its last season of The Man in the High Castle. Lucky for us, season 3 will land in its entirety on October 5, but until then this Comic Con teaser which dropped today ought to tide you over. Judging by what the cast had to say at the panel, it’s going to be a compelling season, as characters discover “the anomaly” a bridge between parallel universes. And that’s not all: they’ll be trying to access it, and, along the way meet other versions of themselves. Yes, you should start watching the earlier seasons now. 

The Tick

Also, not really a trailer is this exclusive set tour of Amazon Prime Original The Tick, BUT it does show us some things from the upcoming second season, which we haven't seen before, so it's worth taking a look. Notice at the end of the Comic Con sneak peek the offices of new character Tyrannosaurus Rathbone?

Titans

The first trailer for DC's live-action take on the Teen Titans (simply dubbed "Titans") is pretty... well, grim. It's certainly a far step from more kid-friendly previous incarnations such as the 2003 animated series or the still-running spin-off, Teen Titans GO! About the only thing that's colorful here is the language, as Robin growls "fuck Batman" after murdering a group of thugs.

Young Justice: Outsiders

As well as the first Titans trailer, DC also gave us an extended Comic Con trailer for the third season of the animated Young Justice: Outsiders, which you can check out above. It teases a new challenge for the superheroes as they once again band together to protect the Earth from a deadly threat. 

Mayans M.C.

Sons of Anarchy fans rejoice - the first trailer for spin-off series Mayans M.C. is here! As you can tell from the name, it focuses on another biker gang called the Mayans who were the sometimes rivals, sometimes partners of the Sons of Anarchy. The trailer teases everything we love about SoA and more, and with a Comic Con panel planned for Sunday, fans can expect more juicy details soon.

Stan Against Evil

Prepare for a return to the distinctly cursed town of Willard’s Mill, where you’re more likely to encounter a demon, zombie or vampire than another human! Season 3 is gearing up to drop later this year, and by the looks of its teaser trailer, we’re getting more horror comedy gold in that batch of eight episodes. 

Invader Zim

There's no date attached to Invader Zim: Enter the Florpus, a TV movie continuation/possible conclusion to the cult classic Nickelodeon series, but if this trailer is anything to go by, expect lots of the same strange, gross humor that made it a hit. Now if only we could hear any of these beloved characters speak again...

Homecoming

The new Amazon Original series starring Julia Roberts, Homecoming is "mind-bending psychological thriller", which sees Roberts' caseworker try and help soldiers transition back into civilian life. It's Comic Con trailer is little more than a teaser for the new series, but it's enough to pique our interest.

Gifted

The Saturday afternoon Fox panel saw the latest trailer drop for the mutant series. The Gifted season 2 looks set to continue expanding the world established in its debut season, except this time we’ve got a glimpse at some new threats for those who haven’t succumbed to the allure of the Hellfire Club. As well as the Sentinel Services, we’ve got Morlocks on the horizon...

Roswell, New Mexico

In addition to that Buffy reboot, we’re also getting a return to another ‘90s supernatural-tinged show. Granted, this return to Roswell isn’t going to include the same characters as before, instead opting for a fresh slate to tell a new tale of extraterrestrial drama. 

Deadly Class

New Syfy series Deadly Class is based on the best-selling graphic novel centred around a school for trouble youths, which trains them to become the next generation in deadly assassins. Yes, really - check out the Comic Con trailer above. Starring Doctor Strange's Benedict Wong and a whole host of exciting newcomers, this could be your new TV obsession.

Lore

Lore is the Amazon Prime Original based on the podcast of the same name, which explores the real life tales that give rise to modern-day myths and legends. The short Comic Con trailer for season 2 promises even more gruesome and disturbing stories as it features new narratives from the podcast, as well as some which haven't appeared in podcast form yet.  

Origin

This YouTube Original series stars Harry Potter's Tom Felton and Game of Thrones' Natalia Tena and is part-sci-fi part-thriller as a group of outsiders finds themselves abandoned on a spaceship heading to a distant planet. They must rely on each for survival but - surprise, surprise - not everyone is who they say they are.

Marvel's Spider-Man

We've seen plenty of gameplay for Insomniac's upcoming Spider-Man PS4 game since it was first announced in 2016, but this new Comic Con trailer finally gives us a good look at what to expect from the story, which involves Peter Parker going up against the likes of Rhino, Norman Osborne, and Silver Sable(!).

Wonder Woman 2, AKA Wonder Woman 1984, only started filming 3.5 weeks ago, but that didn’t stop the cast and crew pulling out all the stops to bring fresh footage from the super sequel to San Diego Comic Con 2018. Director Patty Jenkins, Gal Gadot, and Chris Pine (whose mysterious return wasn’t addressed beyond Jenkins claiming “it’s a very important part of our movie”) were on hand to explain how WW84 isn’t a sequel, but “it’s own story, a different chapter”, and brought a brief look at the film with them. Here’s what went down.

The two-or-so minutes of footage opens with Wonder Woman in full costume, her attire noticeably more vibrant, leaping over a bannister on the top floor of a shopping mall. Immediately it’s clear we’re in the ’80s, from the fashion of passing punters to the garish signage and bright, clean cinematography – a clear contrast to the filmic grain and desaturated colours of the first film. Already it feels like a whole new world for Diana of Themyscria.

Arcing over the railing, Wonders lands in front of a young girl who looks up at her in complete awe, and whispers “Oh my gosh!” receiving a broad smile in return. But clearly Diana is there on business, turning around to find two armed goons closing in on her from behind. Without flinching Wonders grabs the girl, says “hold tight” and slides her along the floor into an oversized teddy, bringing the girl to a soft, safe stop with a giggle.

Her duty of care complete, Wonders immediately turns around and sets her sights on the two pistol-toting men. Dashing across the space in a familiar blink of the eye, she grabs their guns, one in each hand, and crushes them, the camera fixing on the men’s faces as they convulse in pain. But she isn’t done, latching onto the pair with the lasso of truth, and making a bee-line for another bannister in the middle of the mall, leaping over and dragging the two men behind her. Without context for the scene it’s tough to tell what was going on beyond everyday hero duties, but the message was clear: this is a Diana who loves being Wonder Woman again.

In a second, much briefer shot, we see Wonders running down a busy street, against traffic, and at a speed no human could possibly match. Despite the effect appearing a little Twilight-y (and possibly unfinished VFX-wise) it’s a clear homage to the iconic sprint of Lynda Carter’s Wonder Woman and a warm reminder that this character has a legacy beyond the DC Extended Universe.

And that was that. Plot details were thin on the ground otherwise – Kristen Wiig’s villain Cheetah didn’t get a single mention, for one. But Jenkins did explain the thinking behind the move to 1984, saying: “It really was mankind at its best and worst… so there was no better time to see Wonder Woman in a period of time that’s really us at our most extreme.” With the film not releasing till November 2019 it’s going to be a long year.

While the likes of Batman v Superman and Justice League would lead you to believe that the DC Extended Universe doesn’t understand comedy, Wonder Woman and the upcoming Aquaman suggest otherwise. We can now add Shazam! to that list, based on the cheery, delightful nature of its first trailer, which was released at San Diego Comic Con 2018.

Interestingly enough, the film hails from David F. Sandberg, a director whose work includes Annabelle: Creation. While that flick is not exactly teeming with cheer or delight, it’s obvious that he’s going all-in on the light-hearted tone for Shazam! Seriously, this looks like the most family-friendly entry in the DC universe. Things kick off as 14-year-old Billy Batson (Asher Angel) discovers he can transform into an adult superhero (Zachary Levi) when he says the magic word. 

The most amusing parts of this trailer are when we see the adult Billy hanging out with his best friend, Freddy (played by the It movie's Jack Dylan Grazer). It’s basically like the Tom Hanks ‘80s classic Big, but instead of him just being an adult, he’s, you know, an adult in a padded superhero outfit with powers.

Billy encounters an ancient wizard who tells him the word he must say to become an adult… is SHAZAM! “What, are you for real?” is Billy’s retort.

We've had our first proper look at Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them sequel The Crimes of Grindelwald, courtesy of a new trailer (above), which dropped during Warner Bros' Hall H panel at San Diego Comic Con 2018. 

Not only does the trailer show us a young Newt and Dumbledore at Hogwarts, but it also gives us a good look at villain Grindelwald, played by Johnny Depp, who also turned up in Hall H. There's lots to love about this trailer - all those fantastic beasts! - but the one moment which really got me excited comes right at the end when we're treated to our first look at iconic Harry Potter character Nicolas Flamel. 

Fans will recognise the name immediately as the alchemist and only known maker of the Philosopher's Stone who is referenced throughout the first Harry Potter book. Despite being a major character in the Harry Potter universe, we've never seen him on screen before, but it looks like Flamel will have a role in Fantastic Beasts 2, which makes sense as Flamel is a good friend of Dumbledore's in the book. 

Played by Brontis Jodorowsky, he appears in the trailer quite pale, giving Jacob cause to ask: "Are you a ghost?" Harry Potter fans will love seeing this further reference to the books in the Fantastic Beasts franchise, but it remains to be seen how big of a role Jodorowsky will have or whether it's more of a cameo.

Lucky attendees at this year’s Cinema Con got a glimpse at a slapdash cut of the Aquaman trailer, and now, the rest of the world has been gifted the finished product. The first full-length Aquaman trailer has finally dropped, folks, and it’s absolutely glorious.

Fans have been longing for a glimpse into the world of Arthur Curry, a young lad who grows up to be the king of Atlantis, and James Wan has dished up a preview that’s left everyone gagging for more. Make no mistake: this is not your standard comic book movie fare.

Wan himself even told the Hall H crowd at San Diego Comic Con 2018, that it’s more of a “science-fiction fantasy film than a traditional superhero movie.” His passion for the film is clear in every single shot. His vision makes this world look like an adventure playground, a vibrant, diverse landscape that I would definitely go snorkelling in.

What makes this so exciting is that everyone involved looks like they’re having a blast. Jason Momoa was born to play this role, from Curry’s devil-may-care attitude, his ease at dispensing with wry one-liners, to his willingness to dive head first into the ocean. The playfulness between he and Amber Heard as Mera, the ass-kicking Queen of Atlantis, feels natural, which is a nice counter to the somewhat forced flirtations between Bruce Wayne and Diana Prince in Justice League.

Elsewhere, we get to see Nicole Kidman as Aquaman’s mother, and Patrick Wilson in his full aquatic regalia as the villainous King Orm. But what about everyone else in the cast? Well, we’ve seen the full trailer, but those in Hall H were shown an extra tidbit of footage, that reveals a look at those characters:

Unless you've been living under a rock for last couple of days, you'll have seen the first trailer for M. Night Shyamalan's Glass (above), which was released at San Diego Comic Con 2018. 

The third movie in a surprise trilogy, which started with 2000's Unbreakable and continued with Split in 2006, Glass sees Samuel L. Jackson’s Mr Glass, Bruce Willis’ David Dunn, and James McAvoy’s The Horde collide in a psychiatric unit run by new character Dr. Ellie Staple, played by Sarah Paulson.

The trailer itself is one of the best released during Comic Con so far, and is a real treat for fans of either Unbreakable or Split, but there's probably more connections between the two movies in the teaser than you first noticed. It goes without saying that Shyamalan has been thinking about this trilogy for a while and a lot of the references and connections are so subtle, there's no way you'd realise what you were seeing unless someone pointed it out to you.

Luckily for us, YouTuber Flicks and the City has put together an impressive analysis of the Glass trailer, which breaks down every obscure reference and cool nod for your viewing pleasure. Pretty impressive, right? It just shows how much work has gone into this film already and I can't wait to see the finished project.

Marvel Studios may be MIA, but that doesn’t mean Marvel movies are completely absent from San Diego Comic Con 2018. Chief among them is upcoming movie Venom – the Spidey-verse anti-hero with a penchant for biting people’s heads off, and soon-to-be star of his own solo feature, who made a gloopy black splash in Hall H on Friday night.

During a 30-or-so-minute panel director Ruben Fleischer, Tom Hardy, and Riz Ahmed (with a shock of blond hair) talked up the film’s comic book inspirations (“We stay pretty close to the Lethal Protector,” said Hardy), the surprisingly sweet reason Hardy first considered the role (his young son is a huge fan), and brought some exclusive new footage to show the 6,000+ attendees.

Assembled into a trailer-like sizzle reel (with VFX work still be be completed, according to Fleischer), we got some big new glimpses at Venom in all his gargantuan symbiote glory, Venom emerging tentacle-like from Brock’s body and talking to the investigative journalist, and the alien parasite repairing Brock’s broken body after a nasty injury. We also got our best sense yet of just how wicked (and juvenile) Venom’s sense of humour is - at one point he threatens to bite a criminal's arms and legs off then roll him down a hill “like a turd in the wind”.

The biggest reveal came in the form of Riot – another symbiote who, unlike Venom, doesn’t latch onto a single human, but hops between hosts in the film, meaning anyone is a potential enemy, including Ahmed’s Life Foundation figurehead Carlton Drake. Bigger, stronger, and way uglier than the lethal protector, he boasts two cleaving axes for hands and, in a dazzling slow-mo hero shot, has a pretty decent stab at ripping Brock and his symbiote apart.

But Riot wasn’t the only new symbiote on display. Though not officially confirmed on stage, it looks like Agony will also be appearing, a female security guard glimpsed transforming her arm into a blade (not dissimilar from the T-1000) and then firing prehensile hairs out of her back and killing everyone in the vicinity.

With unseen, but hinted at, moments of head-munching, and Fleischer claiming, “There are no heroes in this film,” Venom presents a very different prospect for superhero cinema, and it’s one with ambitions beyond a single feature. “We’re definitely planning a huge world with this Venom story,” said Fleischer. The panel also addressed the spider-shaped elephant in the room during the closing moments. With Venom’s origin inextricably linked to Peter Parker in the comics, is there any chance we could see Tom Holland’s web-slinger on screen again this September?

“I think we an all agree it would be pretty amazing to see Spider-Man and Venom face off in a film,” said Fleischer, confirming or denying nothing. “I have to think the studio’s thinking the same way and, at some point down the road, they’re going to run across each other’s paths.” Tom Hardy was then asked if he’d like to fight Spider-Man, a question he answered amusingly literally, “What, go toe-to-toe with Tom Holland? I’ll have a go, yeah. You’ve got to have a go, ain’t yah.” So while it’s very (very) unlikely that Spidey will swing into Venom, don’t rule out a showdown in the distant future.

Star Trek Discovery season 1 was one of the best TV shows of 2017, so it's safe to say that its second season is hotly anticipated. While there were a few worries after the showrunners were reportedly fired and replaced, the Star Trek Discovery Hall H panel at San Diego Comic Con 2018 seems to have silenced any concerns with a spectacular first look at what fans can expect when the show returns. Watch the trailer above or here if you're in the UK. 

Eye-watering action sequences, new aliens, iconic characters... the trailer seems to have it all, but it does raises a few questions we'd like answered please. 

What is Michael looking at?

You know the bit I'm talking about. It's right at the beginning of the trailer when Michael is in her spacesuit and looking towards something in awe as we hear her voiceover. Whatever she's seeing must be pretty important to hold her interest like that, but we only see a vague, blurry shape in the trailer. Considering how she and the shape are both drenched in red light though, I'm going to make an educated guess and say it's whoever - or whatever - sent the red signals Pike goes on about later in the trailer. New aliens perhaps?

Why is Pike and his crew wearing different uniforms?

It can't have escaped your notice that when Captain Pike and his crew board the Discovery they're wearing a version of the more traditional Star Trek uniforms from the Original Series. They look incredible and will no doubt please fans, but it does raise the question, why are their uniforms different to the ones we saw throughout the first season? As a prequel, Discovery always made a big deal about being completely separate and different from other Star Trek series, so why introduce the more traditional uniforms now? interestingly, Pike does appear in a Discovery uniform later on in the trailer... 

Who is the woman in red?

Is it just me, or does the young woman who accompanies Pike onto the Discovery seem a bit different to everyone else? Her outfit is much less formal than everyone else's - although this may just be the skirt - and the way she very casually walks around the ship looking at everything makes me feel like she's not a Starfleet officer. Who is she? A civilian? A guest of Captain Pike's? Or just a Starfleet cadet in unusual garb?

Where is Spock?

Spock is only referenced in the trailer and doesn't put in an appereance, but we know from the Hall H panel that he will be in Star Trek Discovery season 2. So, where is he when Pike joins the Discovery and his foster sister? Pike tells Michael that Spock took leave because he found something in the signal he couldn't explain, and then Michael tells Saru that Spock and the signal are linked and that he needs help. Could he have gone to investigate the signal without his crew? It doesn't sound very Spock-like, but either way, we know he'll cross paths with Michael at some point. 

When will we get Star trek Discovery season 2?

Because that trailer was so amazing that we want it now! Unfortunately, we didn't get a specific release date for Star Trek Discovery season 2 along with the trailer, but we do know that it'll be at some point in 2019, with Alex Kurtzman teasing early on in year, perhaps around January. We'll just have to be patient I guess.

AMC dropped the first trailer for The Walking Dead season 9 during its Hall H panel at San Diego Comic Con 2018, and to say it has fans hyped would be a bit of an understatement. It's no secret that the show has experienced somewhat of a down turn in recent years - in quality as well as viewers - and The Walking Dead season 8 saw a lot of fans give up on the series completely... supposedly never to return. Until now that is, because the incredible first look trailer has them tuning back in!

Admittedly, the trailer released at Comic Con is impressive - you can watch it above or here if you're based in the UK - featuring over five minutes of amazingly intense footage, which showcases everything from Negan's imprisonment to civil war breaking out between the various settlements. 

There's also plenty to see in terms of the time jump - where is Maggie's baby? - as well as a tease to the 'big bads' of the season, The Whisperers. No wonder fans are excited. It seems like the last season has been all but forgotten if these Twitter reactions are anything to go by...

With a new showrunner, Rick on his way out, and this kick-ass trailer, it looks like fans have high hopes for The Walking Dead season 9. Let's just hope it can live up to them when it returns to our screens on October 7, 2018.

Star Trek Discovery's first season left us wanting more, and now - thanks to a panel at San Diego Comic Con 2018 - we're starting to find out what might be in store for the crew in season 2. Andrew Lincoln took to the Hall H stage at San Diego Comic Con 2018 to confirm what's long been rumored - that his character Rick Grimes will exit the show during The Walking Dead season 9. *sob*

In an emotional announcement, which had many fans in Hall H booing the news, he said: "This will be my last season playing the part of Rick Grimes." He went on to ask fans to hear him out as he explained how much he loves the show and how grateful he is to all the fans, and well, it was all a bit emotional!

Oh Rick! After playing the main character in such a popular TV show for so many years, it's unsurprising that Lincoln feels a certain amount of emotion when talking about leaving the show behind. 

Interestingly, I actually asked him if he thought The Walking Dead could survive without its main character, Rick, at San Diego Comic Con 2016. "Absolutely, I think that was always the intention," he told me. "I mean, I’m speaking on behalf of Robert Kirkman, but it was sold to me by my agent that it was seen through the eyes of Rick and then it would turn into an ensemble." Now the question is, how will Rick leave the show? Death seems like the most likely option, but the showrunners might surprise us and just have him walk off into the sunset...

Lincoln also had plenty to add about the upcoming season, saying: "We’re deeply, deeply proud of the work we’ve done this season." And a trailer, as well as a October 7, 2018 release date, were revealed during the panel too. You can watch the trailer below:

I've got good news and I've got bad news. The first trailer for Nightflyers - the new TV show based on George R. R. Martin's other book - has been released at San Diego Comic Con 2018 and the good news is that it looks really, really promising. The bad news is that it looks nothing like Game of Thrones. Or maybe that's good news too, depending on your viewpoint... 

If you were hoping for a replacement for the fantasy series once Game of Thrones season 8 ends, you probably won't find it in space thriller Nightflyers. Don't discount the show just yet though, because the first trailer makes it look like a cross between Interstellar and Alien and I'm so here for that. 

Set on a spaceship (which will look very familiar to casual and hardcore sci-fi fans alike), the passengers are looking for a new and fertile land because the Earth is dying. So far, so very familiar... but then there's a ship malfunction and people start dropping dead, hallucinating, and generally not having a great time of it.

There's a very The Expanse look to the trailer, but the content has more of a horror feel to it than other popular sci-fi series. The screaming passengers, the fiery silhouette, the creepy girl that clearly isn't really there... something is out to get the people aboard this ship. Is it an alien, or perhaps something else?

San Diego Comic Con is the biggest pop-culture extravaganza on the planet and this year will be no different. But, unless you’ve shelled out a few hundred bucks (and in some cases, flown halfway across the planet) to be there, there’s a good chance you’re going to miss out on the best bits of each panel, booth, and special appearance Comic Con has to offer. That’s where we come in. Here’s our guide on how to watch San Diego Comic Con 2018 from the comfort of your own home.

First, a word of caution: a lot of the exclusive panels, including the iconic Hall H, aren't filmed live and while the panels usually end up on YouTube a few days later, it's incredibly hard to watch them as it's all happening as Comic Con wants to ensure the exclusively of its event. As such, it's hard to pin down exactly where and when you can watch every event – but we’ll do our best to help you avoid the FOMO. And don't worry if you're busy/asleep while everything is going on as GR will be reporting on any and all of the big news, footage, and reveals coming out of Comic Con, so you won't miss a thing. 

When can I watch San Diego Comic Con 2018?

Wednesday July 18 is San Diego Comic Con 2018’s Preview Night, but the action properly kicks off on Thursday July 19 with 20th Century Fox’s panel on upcoming movie The Predator. That’ll be followed by plenty more exciting panels and the rest Comic Con has to offer every day up until Sunday July 22.

How can I watch San Diego Comic Con 2018?

This is a tough one. There aren’t expected to be any official live streams of San Diego Comic Con 2018, with the majority of clips coming after the fact. Expect the BBC’s Doctor Who YouTube page to carry some of what will be Jodie Whittaker’s first public outing as the Time Lord, for example.

In addition to that, Ryan Reynolds’ Twitter account could be a gold mine as he’s around this weekend to showcase the Deadpool 2 Super Duper Cut. 

Marvel, if they follow last year’s showing, could also be streaming a bunch of cool SDCC stuff on their Marvel Entertainment YouTube channel. And AMC is bound to be showcasing The Walking Dead season 9 across its Twitter and YouTube channels as well.

Your best bet, however, is to take stock of the full SDCC 2018 schedule and plan accordingly. Expect journalists and other attendees - including our own - to break news as and when it happens, so stay tuned to social media for any and all trailer releases and big breaking news.

What can I expect from San Diego Comic Con 2018?

This year, it’s more about what not to expect. Marvel Studios and HBO are giving it a miss, so don’t expect any Game of Thrones season 8, Westworld season 3, Avengers 4 or anything else on any other new Marvel movies. Instead, we’re getting the likes of a big Warner Bros. panel featuring Aquaman, Wonder Woman 2, and more, a huge Doctor Who debut, Halloween and Glass reveals, a Marvel Games panel, and the traditional The Walking Dead panel. Forget Cannes, forget the Oscars. For us, San Diego Comic Con is the biggest event of the year. When it comes to finding out about the upcoming films, TV, and games we love, San Diego is the place to be, but if you weren’t lucky enough to get tickets to Comic Con International 2016, we’ve got the next best thing. We’ll be covering everything right here on GamesRadar+ so you know about all the new footage, announcements, and interviews at the same time as everyone else. Comic Con is still over a week away so for now, let’s talk about everything we hope to see at the convention. Some movies we know will be there spilling details about what we can expect (Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2), while others we just hope to find out a bit more about (Spider-Man: Homecoming). And let’s not forget that our TV addictions will be making an appearance in the form of The Walking Dead and Game of Thrones (I’ll try and find out who Negan killed. I promise). Plus, some of this year’s biggest and most interesting games will be making an appearance and dropping more than a couple of announcements, from Overwatch’s new hero to some fresh Gears of War 4 reveals. Read on and find out what we hope/pray/predict we’ll find out from this year’s SDCC.  

James Gunn recently confirmed that the Guardians of the Galaxy sequel will be making an appearance at Comic Con and with shooting recently wrapped, expect plenty of tidbits. Will we see some first footage? I really hope so. When the first Guardians made an appearance at SDCC 2014, it was only a week into shooting and we still saw a pretty impressive teaser reel, so hopefully we’ll get even more this time around. It would be rude otherwise, right? Personally, I’m also hoping the director will drop some hints as to what’s made it onto the soundtrack of the sequel as well. I’m still listening to the first one on repeat... 

Marvel skipped last year’s Comic Con, but they have confirmed they’ll be returning this year, which means we can expect to find out more about their upcoming movies. Obviously, everyone’s excited for Spider-Man: Homecoming but with the 2017 release date still some way off, we might be in for a disappointment. Then again, he’s already caused quite a stir with his Captain America: Civil War debut, so surely Marvel won’t keep us waiting for another look at Tom Holland’s web-slinger? For my own part, I’ll be trying to track down someone who can tell me about the cast. There’s been so many new cast announcements recently but we actually know very little about who they’re all playing. 

Another Marvel movie which will probably put in an appearance at SDCC is Doctor Strange and given that it’s a lot closer to release than Spider-Man we’ll probably get a second trailer. Not everyone loved the first one so will we see some changes made to the tone and style of the movie in the new footage at Comic Con? Maybe. Either way, I’m not passing up the opportunity to meet Benedict Cumberbatch. And yes, I’ll ask about Sherlock too.  

With Game of Thrones finished for another season, it’s time to turn our attention back to the other TV show we’re obsessed with - The Walking Dead. AMC’s zombie-killing series will be at Comic Con and if it follows the patterns of previous year, we should get a look at the first trailer for season 7 (*squeals*). I think it’s too much to hope that it will give away that cliff-hanger ending, but I will be watching every single moment like a hawk to make sure you know every hint, tip, and suggestion about the upcoming season. Plus, Fear the Walking Dead should also be making an appearance if you’re a fan of the spin-off show. 

The third movie in the Star Trek rebooted franchise - Star Trek Beyond - will be holding its premiere at Comic Con this year, so expect plenty of ooo-ing and ahh-ing at what will no doubt be an impressive spectacle. I’m hoping to bring you plenty of pictures from the star-studded red carpet and will even try to talk to some of the cast so let me know what you want to find out. I also suspect that there will be a fitting tribute to Anton Yelchin who sadly passed away recently, and possible the legendary Leonard Nimoy as well. 

While most of the big news about Star Wars will be at Star Wars Celebration (just a week before Comic Con), I still expect Rogue One to make an appearance. SDCC is kinda a big deal after all. So what will they show us? Frankly, your guess is as good as mine. Some new footage would definitely be a welcome treat after that incredible first trailer, and hopefully the cast and crew will be in attendance to talk about their characters and the story. I promise, I will do my absolutely best to tackle Felicity Jones to the ground (if she’s there) and interrogate her about Jyn Erso. 

I know what you’re thinking. Game of Thrones will be there? To announce what? What will we find out about season 7? Nothing I’m afraid. Tradition tells us that the Thrones cast probably will be at Comic Con, but, if they are, they basically won’t be able to talk about anything. I’m still going to turn up armed with the big questions season 6 left us with, but don’t hold your breath. The best we can hope for is that I get a selfie with Kit Harington... which would actually be kinda awesome, but only for me really. Sorry.  

On a more exciting note, we’ll probably, most definitely, maybe see some first footage from the Justice League movie. After Batman v Superman, I can’t say I’m exactly on-the-edge-of-my-seat-thrilled to see Zack Snyder’s next DC movie, but it’s still the Justice League, right? Which means we do want to see a bit more of the new Flash, Cyborg, and Aquaman, how Superman will ‘return from the dead’, and, perhaps most importantly, what lessons have been learnt from the rather underwhelming Dawn of Justice. Stay tuned and I promise to dish all the details as soon as they travel through my eyeballs.  

The biggest known quantity at ComicCon this year - the unannounced, er, announcements may be bigger, but who knows? - we’re 99% sure that we’ll be getting an in-depth look at Overwatch’s first post-launch roster addition. Beyond that, we know little - though all clues currently point to a previously named character called Sombra - but all details will indeed drop (including, hopefully, a launch date) on Thursday, June 21. 

Carrying on from the Justice League, one member we should be seeing a lot of at Comic Con is Wonder Woman, who’s solo movie hits cinemas in June 2017. We’ve already had plenty of teaser images, set photos, and even a little footage so could it be time for a trailer? If we’re lucky... but if not, we’ll definitely be seeing footage of some kind. Perhaps it’ll feature more from the supporting characters, which we’ve seen very little from so far. I for one, really want to know what’s going on with Princess Diana’s fellow Amazons in Themyscira. 

Honestly, I'm not sure how much we'll see of Thor: Ragnarok given that its 2017 release date is still some way off, but considering that it is filming at the moment (with Chris Hemsworth teasing us almost on a daily basis) there's a good chance we'll see some teaser footage at Comic Con. If the cast make an appearance as well, I'm going to see if we can get some specific figures on how much Hulk will be in Thor 3 - 30%? 50%? 80%?! We need to know! 

We’ve seen Gears of War 4’s multiplayer. We’ve had a long, promising chat with director Rod Fergusson. We’ve seen some great campaign footage at E3. Footage that implies that yes, things are indeed going in the right direction. All of the big reveal stuff now out of the way, it’s time for the inevitable drip-feed of info in the run up to the game’s October launch, and the first stop is ComicCon. Fergusson will be there, alongside Xbox publicity-trumpet Major ‘My name is really Larry’ Nelson. Expect some surprises. 

This panel will only be in black… or maybe very, very dark grey. Sorry, I’m just really excited that The Lego Batman Movie will be making an appearance at this year’s SDCC. After what can only be described as a badass teaser trailer, I can’t wait to see more of Will Arnett’s dark knight, and with this movie set in Gotham, could we see a more traditional Batman story than the one from The Lego Movie? Probably not, but that’s a good thing. Fingers crossed, they unveil the big bad (or three) who will be causing trouble. Also, Wyldstyle cameo? 

The tenth series of Doctor Who is currently filming and while we’ll have to wait until 2017 to see it, we’re pretty sure the Doctor and co will make an appearance at Comic Con. This is the perfect chance to get to know new companion, Pearl Mackie, so let me know if you’ve any questions for her. On top of that, could we be getting an announcement that Peter Capaldi will be stepping down as the Doctor after season 10? 

 With its latest update just launched and the roster of characters for its first ‘season’ of DLC known, it’s uncertain exactly what reveals this Street Fighter panel might impart. But surprises, nonetheless, are promised. We’ll also get some updates on the ongoing Capcom Pro Tour, and - possibly, shamelessly, most exciting of all - a look at the latest wave of SF merch in production. Because who, in the world, can truly have too many chibi M. Bisons?  

You’ve probably seen the teaser images and set photos that have dropped online for Nikolaj Arcel’s adaptation of Stephen King’s The Dark Tower, and word is, the movie will be in attendance at SDCC. Starring Idris Elba and Matthew McConaughey, this is one dark gunslinging western we want to know more about. Fingers crossed for a footage reel! 

Get ready to meet the third Defender, because Marvel’s Luke Cage is attending Comic Con. Well, technically you’ve already met him if you’ve been watching the superb Jessica Jones, but with Marvel getting ready to launch its third TV show with Netflix, we expect a sneak peek in San Diego. After that super teasery teaser trailer, surely we’ll be getting a full trailer? Why has Luke become the superhero he was trying so hard to avoid? Who’s he fighting against? Where is Jessica? These are questions I hope to be able to answer very soon.  

Can you have an emotional breakdown from watching talking and feeling food tortured and eaten? That’s something I’ll soon be able to tell you as I’ll be watching a screening of Seth Rogen’s Sausage Party at SDCC. You must have seen the trailer. Who knew animated vegetables could make you feel so much?  

Rare’s Sea of Thieves is one of this year’s most interesting console exclusives, and easily the most ‘Rare’ Rare game we’ve seen in a very long time. As such, this panel on the game’s creative design - and the company’s obvious love of piracy and skeletons - should be a lot of fun, particularly with ‘key announcements’ on the cards.  

It’s time to meet the new Power Rangers! If you thought that blast from the past was gone for good, you were wrong because a new Power Rangers movie is coming soon starring Pitch Perfect’s Elizabeth Banks, Breaking Bad’s Bryan Cranston, and a whole host of fresh faces as the Rangers. I’ll try and nab the newbies for a quick interview, and yes, I promise to ask Cranston about a Better Call Saul cameo if I get the chance.  

It’s not all about the Justice League you know, Supergirl will be at Comic Con too and hopefully talking about the new series. With rumours flying all over the place about the storylines we can expect to see in season 2, hopefully I’ll be able to weasel some details out of the cast and crew.  

 Another DC inspired TV show that will be doing the rounds in San Diego this year is Gotham. With season 3 airing later this year, no doubt the cast will be looking to promote the new episodes but all we want to know if what the hell was that season 2 cliffhanger all about? With only a few teaser images released so far, perhaps we’ll see some footage? 

Developers and cast alike are going to hit this panel on the new RTS, with a major focus on the evolution and development of the Halo universe. New video footage is on the slate, as are those ever-present ‘surprises’, plus we’ll get to hear John ‘Bender, Marcus Fenix, and The Joker that one time’ DiMaggio talk in his own voice for once. Which is at least 80% less gravelly than you’re expecting.  

If you’re thinking we really don’t need another King Kong movie right now, you might feel a little bit better knowing that Jordan Vogt-Roberts’ adaption stars so-hot-right-now-it-hurts Tom Hiddleston. The movie reportedly features the biggest Kong yet and I expect we’ll see some footage at the convention. There’s no way I’m not asking Hiddleston about all the James Bond hype though. No way.  

If you watched the first season of The Man in the High Castle, you’ll be excited to learn that the Amazon Original will be at SDCC hopefully teasing what we can expect from season 2. If you have no idea what I’m talking about, go and watch this show now. It’s definitely an unknown gem, but probably not for long because... Comic Con.  

Have you seen that footage from the Final Fantasy 15 movie? Have you? The stuff that that is surely live-action, but is actually claimed to be CG, because computer animation tech apparently at the point where it’s about to go full-Skynet? Well you’re going to see more. A whole bunch of new footage, and the official, full trailer, to be precise.  
 

With season 4 on the horizon, the cast and crew of Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. will be at SDCC promoting the new series. How much they’ll be able to say remains to be seen, but hopefully I’ll be able to get some juicy details about which comic book storylines the new episodes are based on. Either way, I think we can expect a much darker Tremors after season 3.  

To my complete and utter surprise, people seem quite keen on the new Tom Cruise Mummy remake, so against my better judgement, I’ll do my best to find out as much as I get about the movie at Comic Con. It does also star Kingsman’s Sofia Boutella (who might be at SDCC given that we also have the Star Trek Beyond premiere) so I feel a little better about that.  

Despite the lukewarm response to Legends of Tomorrow, you can expect a second season to hit your TV screens later this year. With more superheros than you can shake a stick at, I’ll endeavour to get a breakdown on what everyone’s up to at this year’s SDCC.  

If you're heading to San Diego Comic-Con this weekend, clear out a few hours for the PlayStation booth. You (and probably an obscenely long line of other people) can finally get your hands on PS4. Sony today announced its next-gen console and three of its games will be available for public play for the first time ever in the San Diego Convention Center.

Playable demos of Driveclub, Knack, and Octodad: Dadliest Catch will be on hand to show the system's chops from racing to adventuring to secret cephalopod shenanigans. Of course, a bunch of current-gen games will be available too, like Beyond: Two Souls and Gran Turismo 6 for PS3, and Killzone: Mercenary and Tearaway for Vita.

A live concert with music from more than a dozen video game series sounds like a perfect night out for a devoted gamer, other than that whole "night out" thing. But when Video Games Live performs at the San Diego Civic Theatre next week, both San Diego Comic Con attendees and music aficionados can enjoy thanks to a live stream from Twitch.

The event begins on July 20 at 6 p.m. PDT. Its orchestras and choirs will be led by guest conducting game composers like Austin Wintory of Journey as well as principal conductor Emmanuel Fratianni. Besides Journey, new music and accompanying video from Assassin's Creed IV: Black Flag, Destiny, and Dota 2 will debut, and classics from Monkey Island, Final Fantasy, Street Fighter II, Chrono Trigger, Shadow of the Colossus, Skyrim, and more will round out the selection of more than 20 compositions.

Viewers can tune in remotely to see new cinematic snippets of the games and hear the performances on Twitch's own streaming channel. The concert itself will begin at 8 p.m. PDT and will conclude at 10:30 p.m.
