The Forza Horizon 6 Sky Lanterns are an elusive bunch of bright balloons that only appear near the stadium at night in the Autumn season. It's a very specific set of conditions to meet, but there are two ways you can get this Photography challenge done in Forza Horizon 6 to bag yourself 100 Discover Japan points – being in the right place at the right time or using an EventLab cheese. It doesn't matter which method you use, so I've explained both below, including the specific conditions and exact location of the Sky Lanterns in FH6.

Sky Lanterns can be found above a field just outside the Horizon Stadium, which is in the Shimanoyama Region on the most westerly point on the map. However, they will only appear at night during the in-game Autumn season.

Head over to the spot on the above map and wait until the sun sets. Eventually, a large cluster of sky lanterns will appear, at which point you just need to switch to Photo Mode and take a picture with the lanterns clearly in view.

However, if you (understandably) don't want to wait ages to for the in-game day/night cycle to do its thing, you can use an EventLab challenge to put you in the right spot at the right time.

Open the Creative Hub menu, then select the EventLab submenu. From here, choose 'Play Challenges', follow the button prompt to search, then type in 'sky lantern' in the Title slot. This will bring up many custom-made challenges that should help you get this challenge done – the one I tested had the share code '136 800 478' and it worked a treat!

The Forza Horizon 6 Bamboo Bash challenge is a very easy part of the Autumn season of the Horizon Decades Festival Playlist Series. All you need to do is crash through 30 bamboo plants, and the best place to do this is in Forza Horizon 6 is the virtual replica of the Arashiyama Bamboo Forest on the border of Minamino and Ito. I've explained where you'll find this bamboo forest below, which will help you get this challenge done in less than a minute.

The best place to find bamboo in FH6 is the bamboo forest that the Arashiyama Run Speed Zone runs through. It's a dirt track that goes across the border of the Minamino and Ito regions and is roughly east-northeast of Shirakawa-Go, north-northwest of Ito Airfield, and west-northwest of Kitayama Big Daisugi – check it out on the above map.

Use Forza Horizon 6 fast travel to zip over to the road, then just drive through bamboo until you complete the Bamboo Bash challenge – you need to destroy 30 which will take you less than 30 seconds in this spot. Once you've completed the challenge, you'll instantly get three Festival Playlist points to help you unlock this week's exclusive cars and a Super Wheelspin, potentially letting you get some great cars or large sums of Forza Horizon 6 Credits.

It's an incredibly easy FH6 challenge that also has some pretty solid rewards, so it's well worth doing as soon as possible. Especially since Bamboo Bash is exclusive to the current Autumn season of the Horizon Decades series, so you've got until 2:30pm UTC on July 2 to get it done, then it'll be gone forever!

There's even less time to find the Forza Horizon 6 Temple of Nachi Falls for a summer challenge! Autumn also has the 'Parklife' challenge, which sends you back to the Forza Horizon 6 Evolving World Car Meet, and make sure you don't miss out on snapping a photo of the Forza Horizon 6 Sky Lanterns.

The Forza Horizon Temple of Nachi Falls is hidden away in the northern half of the map, specifically on the western edge. It's very easy to miss, but you won't forget it once you've been there, and you must head over if you want to complete the Temple of Zoom daily challenge for the summer season. There's not much time to get this Forza Horizon 6 daily challenge done, so I've explained the precise location of the Temple of Nachi Falls in FH6 below.

The Temple of Nachi Falls is on the western edge of the Takashiro region, which also happens to be the western edge of the map. It's not that close to any other landmarks but it's roughly northwest of the Shikisai-No-Oka flower gardens and directly west of Soni Circuit. It's quite easy to spot on the map due to the distinctive winding road that ends with a small loop, which is where you'll find the temple.

Drive up there in any Ford from the 1980s, then switch to Photo Mode and snap a quick photo by pressing RB, ensuring that your car and the temple are clearly in view. That's all you need to do to complete the Temple of Zoom daily challenge, bagging you an easy 5,000 Credits and one point towards the summer season of the Horizon Decades Series. Since the season has already been and gone, this might not help you get any new cars, but if you just missed out, that one point might be all you need.

But time is of the essence as you've only got until 2:30pm UTC on June 27 to get this done. While you can still complete this summer challenge even though it's autumn, you should look at getting the much more rewarding Forza Horizon 6 Bamboo Bash challenge for the autumn playlist done instead!

Star Wars: Galactic Racer aims to bring consequence back to racing games, offering the kind of white-knuckle thrills you can only get when your life is on the line with every corner you take. That's why its campaign is built on a roguelike-style, run-based structure and after an hour of hands-on time at Summer Game Fest, I can say that the combination has produced some spectacular results. This is a game that feels incredible to play, offers a real sense of danger, and captures the Star Wars vibe impeccably.

"We were trying to push the genre forward by looking at some things that we might have done and used to do in the past that have been missing," Matt Webster, founder and CEO of developer Fuse Games explains. The team aims to create the feeling that "when I crash, when I hit something, there is a consequence to that, and I feel like that's been a little bit missing out of the racing genre."

The deadliest sport in the galaxy

Certainly, I felt those consequences in my hands-on time. Each run sees you follow a tree of events, choosing at each branch whether you'd prefer to, say, take on a standard race, an eliminator challenge, or a mystery event. Fail to finish in the required position – or crash three times in one event – and you're out, left to start all over again.

"We think that that structure and racing is a match made in heaven, because racing thrives on replayability. Let's have a progression system that encourages replayability and mastery, and feels a lot, I suppose, more contemporary. That's a way in which we can breathe some new life into racing by using a more contemporary progression system that's very well in sync with the choices you make and the decisions that you take along the way."

I'd describe myself as a roguelike skeptic – there are entries in the genre that I enjoy, but I generally prefer a more crafted experience. That said, playing with that roguelike structure in a racing game instantly clicks for me. As Webster suggests, the replayability inherent to the racing genre is a perfect fit, and the choices I get for new upgrades between races feels all the more impactful when a mistake could force me back to the start of the tour.

Of course, none of this would matter if the racing didn't feel good to control. Thankfully, Galactic Racer has sublime fundamentals. You choose one of three types of craft to pilot through the races – the all-around landspeeder, the boatlike skim speeder, or the small, darting speeder bike – each of which feels distinct, complete with unique drift mechanics to help you take turns more efficiently.

The thing all vehicles share is a pair of boost mechanics. There's an afterburner that recharges over time, which you can naturally activate for a quick boost, as you'd expect to see in any arcade racer. There's also the riskier ramjet, which separately charges over time and has to be primed with a separate button press before use. The ramjet will shoot you off at out of control speeds with such force that you can shunt opposing racers off into walls in spectacular crashes, but if you use it too long your engine will overheat and blow your own vehicle to smithereens.

"We've spent time making Burnout games and making Need for Speed games, and it's great to bring some of that inspiration and influence into a new expression of this sort of racing," Webster explains, and if you've ever played a Burnout game before, you will absolutely recognize that influence in the slow-motion cutaways that let you indulge in the vehicular carnage for a few seconds before getting back to racing.

There's also a bit of MotorStorm – another sadly long-dormant racing series – in the way that each race sees several different vehicle classes all competing together, but there's one thing missing from the standard tracks: podracers. The opportunity to drive these vehicles is presented as a special treat, which you can access either from the main menu or as part of the campaign in a "fun and interesting way" that Webster was not willing to spoil.

My time in a podracer feels like going from street racing in a coupe to screaming down the highway in a McLaren supercar. The difference in speed is immense, and even after an hour of getting to grips with Galactic Racer's basic mechanics I'm struggling to go an entire lap without one of my twin engines smashing directly into a rock wall. But those few stretches where I'm able to keep it on track are extremely satisfying, especially playing as Sebulba and getting to unleash his racer's flame jets on nearby opponents.

There are so many more cool things in Galactic Racer, like the tactile little minigame where you start up your vehicle, or the paddock where you can chill out between races and chat with NPCs. It all feels like a complete package, and out of everything I played at Summer Game Fest, this is the one I'm most looking forward to. It's a tried and tested concept molded with a structure that makes it feel fresh, and I can't wait to be zooming around the galaxy far, far away once again this October.

The Forza Horizon 6 Evolving World Car Meet is a temporary Car Meet in the Hokubu Region that you'll need to visit for several daily challenges over the course of the Horizon Decades Festival Playlist Series. They're not the most rewarding Forza Horizon 6 challenges, but they are at least very easy, requiring you to park up in the Car Meet in cars from the 1980s, 1990s, 2000s, and 2010s. Once you know where to find this Evolving World Car Meet in FH6, all these challenges will be a doddle, so here's where you need to look.

The only Evolving World Car Meet currently in Forza Horizon 6 is on the east side of the Hokubu Circuit in the Hokubu Region. The circuit is in the eastern half of the region, very close to the coast of the bay that's split across Hokubu and Ito. The Car Meet itself is just north of the Irabuohashi Bridge landmark sign on the map.

So, to complete any daily challenge that tasks you with heading here, such as 'Parklife' or 'Just waiting for a Mate', all you need to do is head to the Hokubu Car Meet and park any car from the required decade in one of the spots by following the button prompt.

If you need an appropriate car, open the 'Change Car' menu, press X to bring up the sorting options, then select 'Year'. This organizes your collection cars into decades, so you can jump to the right section of your collection – Forza Horizon 6 Treasure Cars and Forza Horizon 6 Barn Finds will have you covered for the 1980s, 1990s, and 2000s! Then just drive it into any of the Car Meet spaces and follow the button prompt to join the meet and complete the challenge.

For completing the 'Parklife' challenge, you'll get a rather insignificant 5,000 Credits and one Festival Playlist point, but they're at least very quick to complete, and you'll need every point you can get if you want the free Festival Playlist cars. Just remember that these challenges aren't around forever and expire with the end of each season at 2:30pm UTC every Thursday.

For the current autumn season, you can also find the Forza Horizon 6 bamboo forest to complete the much more rewarding Bamboo Bash challenge. There's also still a bit of time to complete the Temple of Zoom challenge where you need to head to the Forza Horizon 6 Temple of Nachi Falls.

The Forza Horizon 6 Nangan Treasure Hunt offers the usual 100,000 Credits, so long as you can find it lying on the beach that overlooks Tokyo City. The problem is, there's quite a lot of beach to comb in your car for this Treasure Hunt, and it doesn't help that the provided photo in the Festival Playlist is short on obvious Forza Horizon 6 landmarks to help you. That's where I come in, as I've pointed out the precise location of this FH6 Treasure Hunt in Nangan below.

The Forza Horizon 6 Treasure Hunt in the Nangan Region is located on the eastern beach on the little peninsula bit in the southern half of Nangan. It's essentially the easternmost point of the region and is northeast of the space center, directly south of Daikoku Parking Area in Tokyo City – it's also very close to the location of the Ford GT Forza Horizon 6 Treasure Car.

Use one of the many roads (or just drive off a cliff) to get onto the beach, then drive to the right spot described and shown on the map above – Forza Horizon 6 fast travel can't get you to the exact spot but close enough – then crash through the treasure chest to get 100,000 Credits.

These treasure hunts are an incredibly easy way to get Forza Horizon 6 money, but since they're part of the weekly seasonal Festival Playlist activities, they only stick around for a week (as will the Forza Horizon 6 Evolving World Car Meet challenge!). This Nangan Treasure Hunt, which is part of the Horizon Decades Festival Playlist Series, will become unavailable from 2:30pm UTC on June 25. At this time, the season will change to autumn, bringing new challenges, but a Treasure Hunt won't be one of them. You'll have to wait until the winter season the following week (from July 2) for the next one, which is in the mountains of the Sotoyama Region.

My hands-on demo of Stuntman: Hollywood was only 15 minutes long, but it was the best 15 minutes I spent at Summer Game Fest. I've never played the original games, but even without the rosy tint of nostalgia this is a fantastic arcade driving game that already has me eager to revisit its stages again and again to complete the perfect run.

As the name suggests, Stuntman: Hollywood puts you in the driver's seat of a car performing stunts for various action blockbusters. Your director shouts out instructions to you alongside visual indicators along the track, prompting you to, say, drift around a corner, launch off a ramp, and narrowly squeeze past an oncoming car. It's a bit like having a rally co-driver warn you of upcoming turns, just with a lot more explosions along the way.

Each run is just a minute or two long, which prevents repeated attempts from getting exhausting. None of the five levels I play are difficult to complete, but getting perfect marks on every stunt along the way is a real challenge, and one that keeps me hitting that restart button over and over. (Producer Tim Lohrenz, who was overseeing the demo, jokes about how glad he is that current-generation consoles have effectively eliminated loading times.)

It's the excellent controls that really put Stuntman: Hollywood over the top. The car physics are by no means realistic – this is an arcade-style driving model through and through – but that just means you have a lot of leeway to get your drifts and corners just right. On the first run through a level, I feel like I'm just on the edge of control of my vehicle. By the second or third attempt, I'm already starting to build my flow toward that perfect run.

The big gimmick with Stuntman: Hollywood is that the game now features an array of courses licensed from actual car-focused action films and shows, ranging from Fast & Furious to Miami Vice – with more unannounced collaborations to come, Lohrenz teases.

I play through one of the Back to the Future stages, recreating the scene where Marty McFly escapes the terrorists in the mall parking lot. It's not exactly a one-to-one match for the scene as it's shown in the film – there are a lot more terrorists here, for example – but it nails the vibe, especially with the original soundtrack blaring in the background throughout the ride.

But honestly, I think the original courses might be even better. My favorite came at the end of the demo, featuring a collapsing stretch of highway covered in falling boulders, ruined cars, and even crashed airplanes. The undulation of the broken road creates a great sense of verticality, and drifting through the danger is even more exciting when you're sliding across a 70-degree slope.

Even the simpler tracks are still thrilling, however, thanks to the precise controls and fast-paced action. During my brief demo, I was already getting the urge to go back through each one to perfect my line and nail every stunt, and I can only imagine that urge growing once I've got the final game and all its checklists and trophies.

The Forza Horizon 6 Space Port Photo Challenge for spring has the extra requirement of snapping a picture of a Track Toy too. Assuming you've played quite a few races in Forza Horizon 6, there's a good chance you've visited the Irokawa Space Port already but you might not have one of these high-performance cars. If you need some pointers to get this AstroToy' Photo Challenge done, here's where the Space Port is and how you can get a Track Toy car.

This Forza Horizon 6 Photo Challenge has two elements to it as you need to take a photo of a Track Toy car at the Space Port in the Nangan Region in the very south of the map. Getting to the Space Port is easy as you can use Forza Horizon 6 fast travel to quickly teleport over to the general area of the launch facility as shown on the map above.

As for the car, open the 'Cars' menu and select 'Change Car', then sort by 'Car Type'. From here, scroll all the way across to the Track Toys section and choose one of the cars you own from there. If you don't own one, you'll need to head to the Autoshow at either of the Horizon Festival sites and buy one.

With both those conditions met, you just need to open Photo Mode by pressing D-Pad Up and take a quick shot with your car in view. Unlike the picture shown in the Festival Playlist page, you don't even need to have the rocket in view, so long as the photo is taken in the general area of the space port.

For your efforts, you'll get the Forza Link "Beam me up!" line and two points towards the spring season, the last of the Welcome to Japan Series. Make sure you complete the current Forza Horizon 6 Treasure Hunt too while there's still time as you've got until 2:30pm UTC on June 18 to complete both. After that, the season will change back to summer, ushering in a new Festival Playlist Series and even more challenges.

Maverick Games is confident that Clutch can cut through the noise. When Forza Horizon 5 director Mike Brown exited Playground Games with a cadre of the studio's senior leadership team in 2022, the intention was to create a different type of open-world racing game. Now, little over three years of development time later, and with Maverick having been the victim of publisher Amazon Game Studios' shifting priorities, the newly independent team is finally ready to reveal its work to the world.

Clutch makes an excellent first impression. Maverick is walking a fine line between professional circuit racing and race-and-chase cinematic storytelling, where escalating pursuits and blistering getaway missions push you out into a lush open-world composite of the French Riviera. The presentation is absolutely sublime, built in a heavily modified version of Unreal Engine 5; Clutch can deliver the immersive visual fidelity and expansive soundscapes that came to define the Playground and Turn 10 Forza games, so that Maverick has been able to capture this feel after starting over from scratch is certainly impressive.

Forza comparisons are inevitable given the origins of the studio, but I get the sense that Clutch is trying to fill the void in the market left by the absence of new Need for Speed games. I got some Hot Pursuit and Most Wanted vibes as police presence ramped up in high-speed chases around the open-world, and the focus on single-player storytelling certainly echoes the Ghost Games era of NFS, from the 2015 reboot through Payback, Heat, and Unbound. I should note that Clutch will contain multiplayer elements and shared-sandbox elements, although Maverick isn't quite ready to get into all that just yet.

When I sit down with the studio at Summer Game Fest, the intention is to introduce the siblings at the heart of the story and highlight the way Clutch can shift its action between different styles. You'll hit the RK1 (a proving ground tournament for the world's top drivers) in slick circuit races, driving for social currency with the underground car community dubbed the Midnight Collective, and get involved in more considered storytelling as one of the two protagonists becomes indebted to a criminal element.

Maverick let me get hands-on with Clutch once this was all said and done, where I was able to take a vehicle out around a track for a couple of laps. It wasn't clear what sort of assists and settings the team had activated, but I can say that this is absolutely within the 'SimCade' genre of racing games – more forgiving than Gran Turismo and Forza Motorsport, less arcadey than Burnout, and absolutely in that NFS and Horizon sphere of influence. The driving model is impressive, challenging without being overbearing. I'm certainly keen to play more of it and see how vehicles handle once I'm able to play around with the impressive suite of customization options available.

My concern with Maverick right now is that I think this new IP is trying to do too much too quickly. It's unclear how the game will blend its cinematic storytelling ambitions within a widely scoped open-world, a massive challenge but one I'm keen to see more of in the future. At certain moments (such as key story beats and car meets) you're able to get out of your car and slowly walk around, with one example having you investigate a sprawling mansion for a way to gain access to a supercar to steal. One chase sequence had such a glacial sense of speed that I wouldn't have known we were moving beyond 30mph if the speedometer wasn't saying otherwise.

That aforementioned supercar has a harpoon gadget bolted onto the underside of its chassis, introducing a mechanic which seems wholly unnecessary. While it can't be used in RK1 tournament races, open-world pursuits with cops and robbers will let you utilize harpoon swing points to make sharp turns around corners. "If you come across a tagged harpoon swing point, you're able to connect to it, but you still have to press that button again to detach from it – there's a skill check there, so if you stay connected for too long you're probably going to crash the car," says Brown. It's a neat idea, but I'm not sure it's all that necessary when the handbrake is right there.

And then there's the Midnight Collective races, which are run by a famous in-universe podcaster. This is where Clutch lost me. The game is set in the modern day, and is exceptionally online. In an instant, you aren't driving for pole position, but for likes. "Hey chat…" is a common refrain in this arena, as valuable real estate of the screen is consumed by an in-universe sprawl of text as viewers of the live stream comment on the race in real time. Eventually, requests start flooding in – donations of in-game credits offered for pulling off near-misses and other stunts. It's a little bleak.

Clutch is a really interesting addition to the racing genre, and there's a lot to like about what Maverick is putting out into the world. This is a confident first showing, but still I have a lingering fear that it's trying to get off the line too fast. With a long stretch of road to go ahead of the Spring 2027 release window, I do hope that some of my concerns will be allayed as more is shown to the world.

I previously reported that Clutch wouldn't allow you to change your route when you're completing a story mission in the open-world. Maverick reached out to clarify that this constraint is only applicable in the prologue of the game, but that it is an otherwise open-world experience. This preview has been updated to reflect that.

Forza Horizon 6 vending machines are scattered all over the map, and you need to smash five of them to complete a Festival Playlist challenge for the winter and bag a nice new car – the 2023 Lotus Emira. If you want to be done with this challenge as quickly as possible, I've laid out some points for destroying vending machine sin FH6 below, including a good place I found that has five of them conveniently close together.

Vending machines can be found all over the Japan map in Forza Horizon 6, with them commonly appearing outside shops and gas stations.

Naturally, that means the Tokyo City Region is the best place to look for five of them to destroy in Forza Horizon 6. All you need to do is drive your car into them to break them – you'll also get 1,000 skill chain points for the 'Feed Me' Skill.

There's a particularly good spot for finding vending machines in the northwest of Tokyo City, roughly southwest of the Edogawa Baseball Stadium, which is conveniently also where this week's Forza Horizon 6 Photo Challenge is located. Under the highway overpass, there's a gas station that has two vending machines on the forecourt, with a third just around the corner against a building:

Then there are two more vending machines outside the 365 konbini on the road on the opposite side of the overpass:

There are more near the 365 konbini that's behind the gas station and diagonally opposite the across the intersection, so you'll easily find five to break here.

Whichever vending machines you destroy, once you've smashed five, open the Festival Playlist menu and you'll instantly be given three Festival Playlist points towards the winter rewards and the new Lotus Emira, an A-656-rated RWD sports car. Having RWD means it's set up quite nicely to be a good drift car, but you can already get the Lotus Evija Forza Edition, which is one the best Forza Horizon 6 drift cars in the whole game.

Stop Killing Games, the movement that hopes to see a future in which developers can't just take games offline and no longer allow those who have purchased them to play ever again, is back with a new update on its European Citizens' Initiative.

In case you're out of the loop, Stop Killing Games first took off in the public eye back in 2024 when Ubisoft decided to take The Crew offline… effectively making it a dead digital title for those who "owned" it.

The movement aims to make it so that companies can't just shut their games down as Ubisoft did, as it conflicts with consumer rights – particularly in Europe. It's been a long road, to say the least, but it's caught global attention.

Now, in a new online post, Stop Killing Games alleges that Ubisoft CEO Yves Guillemot attended "an 'invitation-only' meeting with the European Commission, hosted by VGE [Video Games Europe], two weeks before the EC planned answer to our ECI [European Citizens' Initiative]."

That's not what stands out here, though. "SKG was not invited." In other words, the group wasn't included. In response, the movement includes an open letter.

"That is the opening image of this moment: Ubisoft at the table, with its CEO at the helm, in the room with senior European Commission officials shortly before the Commission is expected to answer Stop Killing Games," it writes.

"Ubisoft shut down The Crew, one of the cases that helped turn the destruction of online-dependent paid games into an international consumer issue and helped drive this movement’s most successful petition."

It continues, referencing how a French consumer group backed by Stop Killing Games sued Ubisoft earlier this year, citing misleading ownership rules.

"Ubisoft is now facing legal action over that shutdown, including from the French consumer organization UFC-Que Choisir, has faced legal action in California over the same issue, and is also under scrutiny by French and Australian consumer authorities. The timing is impossible to ignore."

The movement concludes in its opening, "The event takes place thirteen days before the European Commission is expected to answer a citizens' initiative backed by more than one million verified supporters."

As Stop Killing Games itself evidently believes, the timing certainly is notable. Ubisoft has yet to confirm the meeting or share anything about it, but I doubt it'd give much of a fruitful response at this point.

Previously, the studio responded with a less-than-ideal statement, saying, "Support for all games cannot last forever." Ubisoft also declared "we operate in a market," which means it's not viable to keep every title online or working indefinitely.

Industry lobbyists ridicule "false premise" that "consumers 'own' digital games" amid Stop Killing Games fight

The studio responsible for The Elder Scrolls 4: Oblivion Remastered helped make the expansive Forza Horizon 6 car list.

Forza Horizon 6 sped out earlier this month to wide acclaim and an even wider player base thanks to the series' sturdy concoction of free-roaming virtual tourism and speedy, spectacle-driven races. But Playground Games had a little outside help on the project.

The Oblivion remasterers at Virtuos revealed as much in a recent online post: "The cars are at the heart of the Forza Horizon 6 experience, and we're proud to have had a hand in nearly 90% of them."

"Glass Egg – A Virtuos studio collaborated closely with Playground Games and Turn 10 Studios as an extension of their team to deliver expansive art production support for Forza Horizon 6, contributing to the development and refinement of all nine distinct biomes and roughly 90% of the vehicles in the game," it explained in a follow-up blog

"The team’s focus was on ensuring visual consistency, scalability, and uncompromised production quality across diverse, large-scale environments, helping create immersive and vibrant worlds that define the Forza Horizon 6 experience, as well as bringing the vehicle roster to life in breathtaking detail," it goes on.

This is actually Virtuos' third time working with Playground Games, the developer behind every open-world game in the racing series and the upcoming Fable reboot, after lending a hand on Forza Horizon 4 and Forza Horizon 5.

Virtuos itself is one of the most prominent co-developers in the biz, having contributed on everything from Metal Gear Solid Delta to Cyberpunk 2077 and Subnautica 2.

Forza Horizon 6 has its own community villain in the form of a driver who's griefing everyone across Japan

The Forza Horizon 6 Edogawa Baseball Stadium in Tokyo City is where you need to head for this week's Photo Challenge. Despite having completed the Edogawa Cross-Country Circuit race, I had completely forgotten that this stadium even existed in Forza Horizon 6, and it's not easy to spot on the map either – don't get it mixed up with the very obvious Horizon Stadium towards the map's western edge! Here's where you need to go to find the Edogawa Baseball Stadium in FH6 for the winter Photo Challenge.

The current winter Forza Horizon 6 Photo Challenge requires you to snap a picture inside the Edogawa Baseball Stadium, which is near the northwestern edge of the Tokyo City region. It's just north of the Tokyo City Food Delivery job icon on the map where you can see a baseball pitch with a light-blue road running through it.

Get over to this stadium, whether you use Forza Horizon 6 fast travel or drive over, then move your car onto the stadium pitch itself. Then you just need to open Photo Mode by pressing D-Pad Up and take a quick shot with your car in view.

For doing so, you'll get the Slide Whistle car horn and the usual two points towards the Winter Season rewards. This Winter season also doesn't feature a Forza Horizon 6 Treasure Hunt, but there are plenty of other challenges to take on for even more rewards.

Finally, since this Photo Challenge is only around for the winter week of the 'Welcome to Japan' Festival Playlist Series, you've got until 2:30pm UTC on June 11 to complete it. After that, the season will switch to spring and there will be a new Photo Challenge which looks like it's to do with the rocket launch facility in the south of the map. Using the best Forza Horizon 6 drift cars is essential if you want to score highly on Drift Zones and look extremely cool during Touge Races. Good drift cars can be practically impossible to drive in a straight line but that makes them perfect for going sideways down weaving mountain roads instead like something out of Initial D. Having one the best drift cars in FH6 makes achieving high scores much easier, but drifting is also a skill that requires practice. With that in mind, I've laid out some drifting tips below, as well as the best drift cars available.

Best Forza Horizon 6 drift cars

These are some of the best drift cars in Forza Horizon 6:

• Any Formula Drift car
• DeBerti Toyota Tacoma TRD 'The Performance Truck'
• Lotus Evija Forza Edition
• Toyota Sprinter Trueno GT-APEX Forza Edition

While the above cars are certainly some great choices for drifting, even without any upgrades, there are plenty of cars that can be tuned for drifting. To start, you want something with rear-wheel drive (look for RWD when looking at cars).

Then you can take it to a Horizon Festival site and look through the 'Upgrades & Tuning' menu. Go to 'Find Tuning Setups', then apply 'Drift' as one of the search keywords. Hopefully another Forza Horizon 6 player has already made a drift-worthy tune setup for your car of choice, which you can then install and then take your car to some Drift Zones.

If you want to manually upgrade your car, there are plenty of drift-compatible part, such as drift tyres and differentials, and some cars even have drift-focused body kit presets you can apply. Additionally, you should also increase your car's torque as much as possible as this will help with drifting – aim for around 800-1,000Nm at minimum.

How to drift in Forza Horizon 6 and drifting tips

Drifting in Forza Horizon 6 is a skill that takes a lot of practice to get use to as it's all about intuitive reactions to keep an out-of-control car under control during a turn – try the Drift Club Story if you're a beginner, then you can test your skills in Drift Zones and Touge Races like the Forza Horizon 6 Hakone Nanamagari.

To quickly cover the basics, you can initiate a drift by briefly steering your car sharply in one direction and then sometimes tapping the brakes to get the car sliding. From then on, it's all about being gentle with the throttle, e-brake, and steering to keep your car going sideways, ideally for as long as possible if you want to score highly in Drift Zones around the map.

With that in mind, here are some tips to help you master drifting and earn three stars in all the Drift Zones:

• Check your assists: If you're struggling with drifting, it may be that your Forza Horizon 6 assists are preventing you from doing so. Make sure you have control over your steering and braking, otherwise drifting will be incredibly difficult.
• Feather the throttle to avoid spinning out: A crucial aspect of a successful drift is finding the throttle sweet spot where you're going just fast enough to keep your momentum through the corner while not so fast that you overshoot the corner or the car suddenly snaps and spins out. If your car gets a bit twitchy, ease off the throttle to course correct. You can then get back on the throttle to carry on the drift if possible.
• Use steering and your e-brake to adjust the drift angle: For shallow corners, you need to steer a little in the opposite direction of your initial turn to keep the car sideways without changing direction all that much. For sharper turns, you want to steer in the same direction as your initial turn, and if that isn't enough, a little tap of the e-brake can sharpen the angle even more. And for some turns, you may need to use a combination of both methods to maintain a drift.
• Drift Zones accumulate points based on drift speed and duration: To maximize your points in Drift Zones and get three stars, you need to focus on performing long continuous drifts rather than lots of short ones. The point counter increases noticeably faster the longer you drift and the faster you're going while drifting.
• Use the right drift car for the right terrain: Drift Zones in Forza Horizon 6 are split between normal roads and dirt tracks, each with their own properties. I've found that larger, heavier cars are better for dirt drifting as their weight and the rough terrain seem to naturally stabilize the car during a drift, letting you score big points. For example, from the above list, the Lotus Evija is terrible on dirt, while the bulky DeBerti Toyota Tacoma is much better suited to off-road drifting.
• You can drift in a straight line: When driving down a straight section of a Drift Zone, you can keep scoring points by steering your car left and right until you reach a corner. If you're in the right car, just turning will be enough to start a small drift, and you can chain these together to bump up your score a little between long drifts.

The Forza Horizon 6 Hakone Nanamagari is a Touge Race found deep in the southern region of the Japan map that will only show up when you drive there. Based on the real Japanese road of the same name, this Forza Horizon 6 race is highly technical with lots of sharp hairpin turns that can be tricky to overtake on. You also need to win in the Toyota GR86 if you're to complete the Gazoo Race Weekly Challenge, so I've laid out the location of the Hakone Nanamagari race in FH6 below, as well as some basic tips for crossing the line first.

You also need to earn Forza Horizon 6 Speed Skills in the GR86 for this weekly challenge!

The FH6 Hakone Nanamagari Touge Race can be found in the Nangan region to the south. It won't appear on your map until you drive over to the race start point, which is at the top of the squiggly, winding mountain road in the middle of Nangan and roughly northwest of the space center – check the above map!

Once you've revealed the Hakone Nanamagari start point, you can enter the race and pick your car. Initial D fans will want to pick something drift-capable but if you're trying to complete the final challenge for the Gazoo Racer Weekly Challenge, you need to pick the 2022 Toyota GR86. You need to win this race too to complete the challenge, and since the GR86 isn't the best car for this sort of race, especially against your opponent Scott Tyler's souped-up touge racer, that's not the easiest feat.

Don't be above shunting Scott off course (if he falls off, that's his fault) or lowering the difficult and maybe some of your Forza Horizon 6 settings and assists for this race. If you want to keep things clean, bear in mind that drifting is a rather inefficient way of taking corners (though it does look and feel extremely cool on the Hakone Nanamagari), so it's best avoided if you want to win. Forza Horizon 6 players finally have a community villain that's best described as Let Me Solo Her's evil twin: a driver who's been griefing people up and down the racing game's open world, and is so prevalent that they've transcended into the realm of internet myth.

Over the last week, players online have noticed that a driver called bowieknife99 has been causing some serious damage. Whether it's in online races or solo ones that match you up with drivatars - computer-controlled versions of real players trained off their driving behaviours - bowieknife99 is seemingly on every street corner.

Multiple clips have since gone viral showing the evil festival goer crashing into players mid-race, easily securing wins, and leading races in vehicles that have no business beating the most lux machines on the Forza Horizon 6 car list. One video below even shows a mid Honda beating a 787B.

My favorite comes in the video embedded below and sums up what makes bowieknife99 such an absolute menace. A three-wheeled joke car handily outpaces some of the fastest cars in the world in a straight-lined drag race.

While drivatars lightly mimic the real-world people they're based on, usually, I've never seen it go so off the rails in all six Forza Horizon games. They usually bump into you while passing if their real-world counterpart drives a little recklessly, for example, or they might struggle to drift if that's what the data they're trained on suggests. The game's new villain is something else entirely - as if Playground Games have crafted the ultimate, motorized troll.

Whoever bowieknife99 is (a Playground Games employee, or Lewis Hamilton, perhaps), they're not naughty enough to ruin the game. A Baldur's Gate 3 lead even called Forza Horizon 6 a "perfect game" in a struggling industry.

Forza Horizon 6 sells 4.9 million copies despite Xbox Game Pass "cannibalizing" revenue, says analyst

Forza Horizon 6 has sold 4.9 million copies since its global launch on May 19, a major accomplishment for an Xbox game in 2026, according to analyst Rhys Elliott.

The head of market analysis at game data tracker Alinea Analytics explains in a new installment of The Alinea Insight Newsletter that Forza Horizon 6 has earned developer Playground Games $325 million in about a week – with plenty of assistance from the 1.7 million players who opted to buy the racing game's early access on May 15. None of that would be too surprising for a highly desired, AAA game, however, if it weren't for how many of its sales came from the Xbox storefront.

Yes, we are a place in history where the fact that a game published by Xbox Game Studios is, in fact, selling well on Xbox is a big deal. New Xbox CEO Asha Sharma is hyperaware of this – otherwise she wouldn't be scrambling to reduce Game Pass' subscription price, expand its tiers, and move into a new era for the company with the next-gen console Project Helix. Forza Horizon 6, then, might be the perfect transition.

"Our data shows that Xbox gamers across console, PC, and cloud [...] really showed up for Forza, accounting for 42% of copies sold (almost 2.1M) versus Steam's 2.8M," Elliott reports. "That's an unusually strong Xbox-side performance by any standard, but it's made even more impressive by over 3M people accessing Forza Horizon 6 via Game Pass on top of that 2.1M paid number."

Forza Horizon 6 is also generating a bit more of its total revenue on Xbox compared to Steam – 51% as opposed to 49% – due to Xbox's mostly Western audience treating itself to more expensive regional pricing.

But though it's receiving plenty of blessings in the form of big sales numbers and big regional price tags, Xbox still found a way to be its own worst enemy. Elliott says, "Game Pass is cannibalizing" some of Forza's revenue, and "both the Steam and Xbox versions would have sold better if it weren't for the day-one Game Pass inclusion, with 3M+ players accessing Forza Horizon 6 via subscription rather than purchasing it outright."

"The counterargument Microsoft might have pointed to is subscription lifetime value," the analyst continues, since 3 million players who decided to either begin or renew Game Pass subscriptions for Forza Horizon 6 make up for fewer direct sales with their promise of ongoing Game Pass payments.

"That's the kind of maths Microsoft had been doing internally until [former CEO Phil Spencer], and it's the same thinking that has justified day-and-date Game Pass releases for over five years now," Elliott says. "It's not the right call to make amid stagnating subscription growth, though."

So Game Pass might still need help to become a success. At least Forza Horizon 6 doesn't.

Driving the best Forza Horizon 6 cars for the right race can make a huge difference in how you place, as there's only so much driver skill can carry you. Obviously being a good driver is very important but choosing the cars that shine above the rest for certain race types will give you an edge in Forza Horizon 6. The variety of race types and activities also means it's impossible to find a one-size-fits-all answer for the "best" car, and you need a broad selection in your garage instead. When you consider tuning and upgrades too, and how they can radically alter a car's performance, you can make almost any car great in some way. But the cars above are the ones that should see you through almost all of what Forza Horizon 6 has to offer.

Forza Horizon 6 Speed Skills are very easy to earn, provided you've got a rapid car and plenty of room to get up to speed on a straight road. Sometimes, Festival Playlist challenges require you to earn "Great Speed Skills" and such. They're very easy to get in free roam if you zoom down a highway in a hypercar, but can be harder to earn in specific activities. If you need to get Speed Skills in FH6 for any challenges or Festival Playlist objectives, here's what you need to know.

How to get Forza Horizon 6 Speed Skills

To get any Speed Skill in Forza Horizon 6, you just need to drive fast, specifically above 100mph/161kmph for "a short distance", according to the in-game description. It works out as several seconds when you're actually driving, but the faster you drive, the faster you'll cover this short distance, letting you rack up Speed Skills quicker.

Like almost every other Skill in Forza Horizon 6, there are also multiple levels to Speed Skills based on how well you execute them. From my testing, this is how all the Speed Skills seem to work:

• Speed (100 points): Maintain a speed of over 100mph/161kmph
• Great Speed (150 points): Maintain a speed of over 150mph/241kmph
• Awesome Speed (250 points): Maintain a speed of over 175mph/282kmph
• Ultimate Speed (1,000 points): Maintain a speed of over 200mph/322kmph

Unsurprisingly, the fastest cars in Forza Horizon 6 are great for getting Speed Skills, along with some of the best Forza Horizon 6 drag cars. So, if you're trying to get Speed Skills in free roam for a Festival Playlist challenge or to get a good Skill Chain score, you should drive one of these cars at full throttle along one of the straighter sections of highway that feature on the Japan map. And while you're driving around, keep an eye out for the Forza Horizon 6 Treasure Hunt.

Driving the best Forza Horizon 6 drag cars is the only way you can zoom past your opponents and tear up the drag strip. You need a car that emphasizes speed and acceleration, and there are plenty of tuning setups for practically every car that can help with that. Just bear in mind that you'll likely be sacrificing almost every other aspect of your car for this narrow focus, so drag cars aren't good for much else in Forza Horizon 6. But if you want to try setting the fastest times, these are some of the best drag racing cars in Forza Horizon 6.

While you might think that the fastest cars in Forza Horizon 6 would also be the best drag racing cars, the Forza Edition Miata seems to be the undisputed best drag car in the game thanks to its stats and stock drag tyres, at least straight out of the box anyway. It's also quite easy to get, which I've covered further down, while the rest of these cars are harder to get, relying on random Wheelspins and luck or are quite expensive.

You can make these cars even better too by driving them to a Horizon Festival site and entering the 'Upgrades and Tuning' menu under the 'Cars' tab. From here, choose 'Find Tuning Setups', then use the search function and select 'Drag' as one of the keywords. This should bring up several setups for your chosen car that are optimized for Drag racing, and you can do the same for Drift setups to help you create the best drift cars in Forza Horizon 6.

You can also manually upgrade your car as well – just make sure you focus on boosting Speed, Acceleration, and Launch as much as possible and fit Drag tyres! It's also a good idea to get familiar with Launch Control and some of the other Forza Horizon 6 assists, so you can get off the line smoothly.

How to get the best drag car in Forza Horizon 6

To get Forza Horizon 6's best drag racing car, the Mazda MX-5 Miata Forza Edition, you need to head to the Aftermarket Car spot that's just north of the Festival Kilometre Drag Meet at the main Horizon Festival site, as the Forza Edition MX-5 Miata has a chance of spawning there – thanks MitchCactus.

All you need to do is reload the map, whether that's by participating in a race or restarting the game, until the car appears, which shouldn't take long – the car appeared for me after reloading the game three times. You can then buy it for 500,000 Credits, meaning it's not the priciest car by a long shot but make sure you know some easy ways to farm money in Forza Horizon 6 to afford it.

The Forza Horizon 6 Tokyo City Treasure Hunt is the hardest to find of the current Festival Playlist Series, requiring you to explore the ramp-filled warehouses of the port area. Still, it's well worth going for the chest as the usual 100,000 Credit reward for smashing these chests in Forza Horizon 6 is up for grabs. But if you need some help not only figuring out where you need to go, but also how to even get up there, I've explained everything for this week's Forza Horizon 6 Treasure Hunt in Tokyo City below.

The Forza Horizon 6 Tokyo City Treasure Hunt is in the container port area on the eastern edge of the region. Specifically, it's on an exterior track attached to the northernmost warehouse near the cranes.

To get up to it, drive up the ramp on the outside of the warehouse at full speed and jump across to the track on the next warehouse, which will take you up to the roof – make sure you've got a speedy car for this, one of the fastest Forza Horizon 6 cars or one of the best Forza Horizon 6 drag cars will help.

Drive across the roof to the exterior track on the other side and follow it towards the warehouse you started at. This track will take you to an upper level of this warehouse that can't be reached any other way. From here, you need to carefully cross the steel girder bridge to the other side of the warehouse, then you can drive outside to find the Treasure Hunt chest at the end of the track. Smash into it to get some easy Forza Horizon 6 money and 5,000XP.

Since this Treasure Hunt is part of the spring week of the 'Welcome to Japan' Series of the Festival Playlist, this chest will become unavailable from 2:30pm UTC on June 18 and it's also the last Treasure Hunt of the Series. After this time, the season will change back to summer and the first week of an entirely new Festival Playlist Series will begin too! There will almost certainly be more Treasure Hunts, but make sure you also complete this week's Forza Horizon 6 Space Port Photo Challenge too.

Forza Horizon 6 screeched onto the scene earlier this week in a smoke of cherry blossoms, and it has Baldur's Gate 3 publishing director Michael 'Cromwelp' Douse's attention.

Douse says in a recent Twitter post that Forza Horizon 6 is "a perfect game," especially in what he describes as "a struggling industry." To his point, it feels like mass layoffs, spontaneous game cancellations, and a flood of uninspired remakes have all become as predictable as the sunset. But, as we note in our four-out-of-five Forza Horizon 6 review, developer Playground Games made "one of the most convincing open worlds ever."

The Japan setting in Forza Horizon 6 is huge and lucious, offering a variety of snow-kissed mountaintops, curlicue highways, and more cherry blossoms than you can count while racing the luxury vehicle of your dreams. The game's underlying narrative about being a racecar driver progressing through the competitive Horizon Festival is, admittedly, characteristically loose, and our reviewer Justin Towell calls Forza Horizon 6's story "shallow and unconvincing." But you're not playing Forza Horizon 6 for the story.

You're playing it, as Douse writes on Twitter, for the "perfect gameplay loop. Consistently joyous, energetic, and infectiously upbeat."

"It is like a familiar friend that both wants you to have a good time and knows how to show you one," Douse adds. And it's true, while the Forza franchise hasn't undergone any gigantic changes in its 21 years on Earth – the job of a racing game is, ultimately, to be a racing game – Forza Horizon 6 takes the stylish, caffeinated, indestructible feeling the franchise gives you and makes it glossy with expert visuals and oil slick controls. "A truly rare gem in a struggling industry," says Douse.

Plus, "Idk who is in charge of the Horizon Opus playlist," the Larian lead mentions, "but mans is really locked in. Clark & Max Richter but specifically November with Mari Samuelsen is an insane neoclassical get." I was personally moved by hearing my favorite harpist-princess Mary Lattimore in Spring. Watching my fiance race the little pink sports car I made him buy with Hello Kitty decals, I realize Forza Horizon 6 has something for everyone.

There's something genuinely awe-inspiring about playing a game that vividly recreates a real-life setting. The New York City of Insomniac's recent Spider-Man games is a perfect example, and now we have the Tokyo of Forza Horizon 6, a recreation so good, even locals are astounded.

Not just any local residents, either. You've got game developers, such as Keiichiro Toyama, director of the first Silent Hill and creator of the Siren series. After spending some time in the new racer from Playground Games, he stepped out into Japan's capital and found it was like stepping into Forza Horizon 6 for real.

"I was like whoa, it’s Forza Horizon 6 in real life lol!" he tweeted, as translated by Automaton. He included some pictures taken of Tokyo in the evening time, to demonstrate just how well the developers have captured the lighting and local traffic of the bustling city.

Toyama is part of a growing chorus of Japanese people who're complimenting the game as such. "The mountains, the rice paddies, the utility poles! It's Japan in every sense," a fan posted on Twitter.

"Laughing because they even included those ridiculously spacious convenience parking lots you always see in the countryside," another player states, with an accompanying screenshot. "It's so Japanese, it's almost too Japanese. It feels like everyday life.," a third person adds.

Yuta Horie, an architect from Japan who lectures at Yokohama National University and Tokyo University of Science, provided a deeper analysis on Twitter of how Playground Games has managed to recreate the logic of the country's layout. "The meticulously recreated urban areas, suburbs, and countryside props form recognizable districts," he explains, as translated by Automaton.

"And at intersections in cities, features like chamfered corner buildings packed with small businesses and pedestrian overpasses create nodes," he continues, "while in rural areas wide bypass roads branch into narrow private roads and farm paths, forming another kind of node structure."

The next time you hop into Forza Horizon 6 for a spin, have a think about just how detailed the setting actually is. It's almost enough to inspire an impulsive holiday - almost.

The Forza Horizon 6 fast travel system is easy to use from your map and, best of all, it's free. It's a vast improvement compared to previous Forza Horizon games, which featured breakable Fast Travel Boards for discounts, but Forza Horizon 6 has thankfully streamlined it all to let you get around the massive Japan map much faster than driving. Below I've laid out everything you need to know about fast travel in FH6.

How Forza Horizon 6 fast travel works

To fast travel in Forza Horizon 6, open the map and hover the cursor over any road that you have previously driven on, then press X/Square to teleport to that exact spot. If a road on the map is grey, you haven’t driven on it before and therefore won't be able to fast travel there.

Best of all, fast travel is completely free, so you can move around as much as you want without having to pay any Credits! As mentioned, FH6 also doesn't feature Fast Travel Boards or a specific house with a perk that lets you fast travel more freely – all FH6 players can fast travel from the start, so long as some roads have been explored.

Once you've driven on a good number of the roads around the map, getting about becomes very easy, making finding things like Forza Horizon 6 Treasure Cars a fair bit simpler. You can also use fast travel to quickly go from race to race, which will help you efficiently build up Forza Horizon 6 money so you can afford some of the best cars in the game – the fastest Forza Horizon 6 cars are usually the most expensive!

We are one day removed from the full launch of Forza Horizon 6, and people have already figured out a way to cheese progression. If you don't fancy grinding too much for funds in the racing sequel, there's a way of earning a lot of extra dosh, and experience along with it, and it's not too complicated either.

There are a couple of ways of getting this Forza Horizon 6 money farm, but they rely on the same fundamental principle. Essentially, you're placing certain cars on tracks designed to provide particularly high amounts of XP points and money, and then putting your vehicle on what mounts to auto-drive, and just watch those numbers go up and up.

The YouTuber XMBWesley demonstrates one way of achieving this. He uses the Impreza 22B-STI Version 1998 Subaru, because it has a number of bonuses that maximize the rewards. Then, you put the driving assists to custom, and have assisted braking, auto-steering and similar for each option.

Once you have those, you can use the code he provides for a custom track that contains a bunch of obstacles that'll rack up your XP. And that's it, in a nutshell - make your car auto-driving, put it on a track that has high amounts of rewards, and just do it over and over until you have what you want.

Streamer Tyler 'Sarthe' Robinson outlines an alternative, using the Forza edition of the Toyota Tacoma. Other than that, it's the same as XMBWesley, just with a different track code, thus slightly different results, but on the same principle.

You can't unlock everything through this method, because certain tracks and such are tied to specific modes and challenges. But you can use this to buy all the cars, and that's incentive enough.

Robinson notes that if you want to make use of this exploit, it's better to try sooner rather than later because it'll get patched. This renders regular progression almost totally perfunctory, and you can bet developer Playground Games will be remedying that. Until then, hit cruise control and relax.

Turning Forza Horizon 6 car damage off is done through the game's settings menu and will keep your car in factory-new condition, even if you crash through a bamboo forest or smash into a building in Tokyo. By default, Forza Horizon 6 has only cosmetic car damage anyway, with cars suffering dents, scrapes, and cracked windows from violent driving. But there's even a Simulation option if you want a slightly more realistic approach to crash damage. Here's everything you need to know about car damage in Forza Horizon 6 and how to turn it off.

How to turn off Forza Horizon 6 car damage

To turn off all car damage in Forza Horizon 6, you need to open the Settings menu, then open the Difficulty tab. You'll then find the Damage & Tyre Wear option near the bottom of the list of Forza Horizon 6 assists and difficulty options and can switch it to 'None'. This means crashes and scrapes will not affect the appearance or performance of your cars.

There are also no real downsides to having damage switch off either, as it doesn't affect your difficulty bonus when it comes to Credits, so you can get Forza Horizon 6 money like normal.

For those sticking to the Cosmetic or Simulation options for car damage in FH6, there are a couple of ways you can reset damage to get your car looking and driving like it's brand new. In free-roam mode, you can open Photo Mode, press LB to Reset Cosmetic Damage, the close Photo Mode. Despite the wording, this button fully repairs your cars, including any component damage that affects its driving capabilities. Additionally, entering any of your houses or the Horizon Festival site main garage will fully repair your car too.

However, there is no way to repair your car or reset any damage it has taken during a race. Your only option is to use the Rewind feature to go back to before you took damage and then take avoiding action. This works well in races against the AI Drivatars but not so much in online races as you end up losing a lot of time to other players. Turning off the Damage & Tyre Wear option entirely is by far the best option, realism be damned!

The best Forza Horizon 6 money farm methods are usually player-made eventlab races, but FH6 is pretty generous with its cash handouts anyway. You'll amass a pretty sizeable Credit fortune just by playing Forza Horizon 6, sampling all it has to offer and completing challenges. Bear in mind that the developers often try to limit the effectiveness of credit-farming exploits anyway and, let's face it, they're not exactly the most fun. However, if you're in need of Credits, here are the best things to do in Forza Horizon 6 to farm money.

Forza Horizon 6 money farm races

In Forza Horizon 6, there are plenty of player-created races designed to give you as many Credits as possible upon completion for minimal effort. All you need to do for these AFK and auto-drive-style eventlab races is turn all assists on, hold down the throttle, and let your car drive itself to the finish line, but bear in mind that the developers often crack down on and reduce the effectiveness of these races.

Here's how you can try these money races in Forza Horizon 6 for yourself, although as I've covered below, I don't think you need to:

1. Pause the game and navigate to the "Creative Hub" tab.
2. Select the 'Horizon eventlab' button, then 'Play Event', and you should see a bunch of Goliath-style long races for Credit and XP farming pop up.
3. Choose one and select or buy an eligible car. Some of them require X-rated cars with a rating of 999, and you can only achieve this rating with an appropriately powerful tuning setup, so you may have to pay Credits to install one of those as well as a car.
4. Before starting the race, turn all Forza Horizon 6 assists on, with Assisted Braking and Auto-Steering being the most important.
5. Start the race and just hold RT/R2 on controller or W on PC to accelerate.

Best ways to make money in Forza Horizon 6

You don't really need the above money farming methods as Forza Horizon 6 is pretty generous when it comes to handing out money anyway, with practically every activity in the game either giving you Credits as a reward or indirectly helping you get more through challenges and XP levelling, such as the following:

• Complete races: Finishing any race will get you a good amount of money in Forza Horizon 6, with longer races providing many more Credits. The difference in prize money from first and last place isn't as significant as you might think either, so winning isn't even essenital. So long as you go from race to race quickly, you should quite efficiently farm Credits while also making good progress with wristbands.
• Change your assists and difficulty: The Difficulty Bonus CR percentage you get from your assists and Drivatar difficulty can hugely increase your race winnings. To get the most Credits, it's best to play on the highest difficulty where you can still quite consistently win. Switching from Automatic gear shifting to Manual also increases this bonus by 15%, though it does make racing more complicated. You can of course also set the Drivatar difficulty to Unbeatable and then use the auto-driving combination of assists mentioned above to get around any race with minimal effort.
• Explore the map: As our Forza Horizon 6 tips mention, you get 100,000 Credits for every Region you fully de-fog on the map (10,000 CR for 25% cleared, then 30,000 CR for 50%, 75%, and 100%), so clearing all 10 Regions in the game is already 1,000,000 Credits. Then you also get 5,000 Credits for discovering every area and landmark on the map, of which there are 74, so that's an additional 370,000 CR.
• Get Wheelspins: Wheelspins and Super Wheelspins have a chance to award you with all sorts of Credit prizes (and even some of the best cars in Forza Horizon 6) with the highest amount I've seen being 250,000 CR. Obviously these are highly luck-dependant, but there are several ways to get Wheelspins that you should remember. You get them as you level up by earning XP, as rewards from certain Collection Journal challenges, and from Car Mastery perks on certain cars. I also recommend buying the Tokyo House to get one Wheelspin whenever you log in for the day.
• Complete a Forza Horizon 6 Treasure Hunt: These secret chests aren't always in the weekly Festival Playlist seasons but make sure you find them when they are for an easy 100,000 Credits. While you're at it, check out the Forza Horizon 6 Photo Challenge too.
• Complete Tokyo City Food Delivery jobs: While it's not the best of these money-making methods in FH6, the Raku Raku Express food delivery jobs found in Tokyo City are at least quick and simple. Completed jobs pay several thousand Credits, which increases based on the number of stars you've collected across your shift. As your delivery driver rank increases, you'll get even more Credits per job too, so it ends up being quite a useful way to get money and explore Tokyo City while you're at it.
• Destroy Regional Mascots: There are 200 of these food-themed mascots, with each one you destroy granting 5,000 Credits as a reward – that's 1,000,000 Credits in total.

It's also worth noting that paying to be a Forza Horizon 6 VIP comes with benefits that will substantially boost your Credit gains. Firstly, Credits you get as race rewards are doubled, massively improving your payouts, and you get one Super Wheelspin every week, which can help you get big cash prizes. That Tokyo House I mentioned earlier is also given to you for free!

But bear in mind that becoming a FH6 VIP is an optional extra that costs real money for $/£19.99. Or it can be purchased as part of the Premium Upgrade Bundle, which also includes two post-launch expansions, a couple of Car Packs, the Car Pass, and more. This bundle will set you back $/£59.99, so it's quite an expensive way to boost how many Credits you can get.

Whether you decide to buy VIP membership or not, using all the above methods to some extent should help you rake in Credits to buy some of the fastest Forza Horizon 6 cars.

Forza fans have found a sneaky Pokemon reference within Forza Horizon 6's radio stations, with the game giving a cheeky nod to its history of lawsuits.

As posted by Twitter user wxrry, in Forza Horizon 6, the Hospital Records Radio station in-game – which has been a series staple since Forza Horizon 2 – features a bit of host banter about the game. The hosts encourage players to "grab your camera and snap 'em all" before saying, "it's like that Japanese collecting game we're not allowed to name for legal reasons."

Nintendo's legal team has been the subject of many a joke thanks to its strict approach to its IP, with it really kicking off around a decade ago with the DMCA strikes for Pokemon Uranium and AM2R (which stands for Another Metroid 2 Remake) and the subsequent removal of them at The Game Awards. And in recent years, The Pokemon Company has been another name people have been prone to joking about thanks to its ongoing lawsuit against Palworld developer PocketPair.

Granted, I don't really think this Forza joke is that deep. It's more than likely just a joke about making the reference to the game in the first place, rather than a direct jab at Nintendo's litigious history.

As far as I'm aware, the somewhat unintentionally hilarious "Mario and Princess Beach" line in Death Stranding never had any issues from Nintendo's camp, and I can't imagine a throwaway line would either. But at the very least, we got a good take on the classic Austin Powers in Goldmember Godzilla joke that I'm sure some will take very seriously.

Former Xbox exclusives have been jumping ship to rival consoles for a few years now - from Starfield and Grounded to upcoming PS5 ports of Forza Horizon 6 and Halo: Campaign Evolved - but, now, Xbox fans are using the company's new community polling tool to tell Microsoft they don't want to share their toys.

This week, Microsoft debuted Xbox Player Voice - excuse me, ahem, XBOX Player Voice - an online page that lets players submit feedback directly and vote on community suggestions. Almost immediately, thousands of fans voted for more games to become backward-compatible, for free online play, and for physical compatibility for Project Helix.

Easily the most popular suggestion on the page was a call to bring exclusives back. "XBOX was built off of great game exclusives, you cannot sell any consoles without a reason to buy the console compared to your competition or even sending your tentpole games over to your competitor," the request reads. "BRING THEM BACK PLEASE !!!"

Upon announcement, Microsoft made clear that Player Voice "doesn't mean every piece of feedback will turn into a feature or result in change," because the company still needs to weigh every option to make sure the profit lines keep going up, "but better visibility helps close the gap between what you tell us and what you see happen next on XBOX."

Essentially, don't expect Xbox to start recalling games like Halo or Forza just because thousands of fans are upvoting an option on the site. At the same time, it's definitely not too late for Xbox to turn around.

Xbox CEO Asha Sharma said the company "will reevaluate our approach to exclusivity" just last month, and also hinted that plans were always subject to change upon taking the job as head of the gaming division.

Console exclusives are definitely still a draw for hardware, as well. Nintendo has practically built its name around games that are synonymous with the brand, and PlayStation is reportedly putting an end to its single-player games coming to PC. With Xbox hardware revenue continuing to fumble, perhaps Microsoft will go down the same route.

Xbox has changed its name and backtracked on Game Pass prices, but is it too little too late?

Xbox owners are moving to New Zealand en masse ahead of the Forza Horizon 6 release time on Xbox Game Pass. For reasons I'm sure you know well enough by now.

For those who own an Xbox and have somehow missed it, the New Zealand trick refers to players changing the location on their Xbox console to make it think they're in New Zealand, which in turn allows them to play games that are set to release at 12am local time at the earliest possible moment – aka the New Zealand timezone. It's been a thing for years – and while technically possible on other platforms, it's far easier to do on Xbox, as the likes of PlayStation require you to buy the game from the New Zealand storefront too.

And despite Forza Horizon 6 being playable before now thanks to its early access launch – not to mention a very prominent leak on PC – the actual launch still has some who can't wait. As spotted by PureXbox, people searching for the game on Google have been flooding the search engine with the likes of "When does Forza Horizon 6 come out in New Zealand."

Looking to the Forza Horizon 6 subreddits, it sure does back up that a lot of people are making the same trip at the same time.

It's understandable why people are keen mind you, given that Forza Horizon 6 has already beaten Pokemon Pokopia, Mewgenics, and Resident Evil Requiem to become 2026's best-rated game of the year, not to mention it's off the back of the massively popular Forza Horizon 5 and the first entry in just under five years – and as someone who hates the "pay more for early access" trend, I'm proud to see some are playing early the old fashioned way.

Plus, Xbox doesn't seem to mind, as the Australian Xbox account acknowledged this when Forza Horizon 5 launched, saying, "Kia Ora to all the people who moved to NZ last night!"

Forza Horizon 6 won't release in full until May 19, but over one million people have already taken to the driver's seat with the game's more expensive Premium Edition.

Day One reports that one of Forza Horizon 6's early-game mandatory events, called River Split Speed Trap, has a leaderboard tracking the performance of more than 1,191,886 players, according to a screenshot sent in to the outlet's Discord channel.

What makes those numbers kind of shocking is that Forza Horizon 6's Standard Edition doesn't come to Xbox Series X|S and PC until a few days time. Although players who are willing to dish out $120/£110 on the Premium Edition can jump into the open-world racer four days early and eventually get access to the game's two upcoming expansions - Game Pass Ultimate subscribers can instead spend $69.99/£59.99 on the more expensive version.

Despite those lux hurdles, well over one million people and counting reportedly decided to drop the extra cash and hit the road a little early in the game's virtual recreation of Japan.

Forza Horizon 6 also immediately beat Forza Horizon 5's Steam record with 130,000 concurrent players jumping in within hours of launch - that's since sped to a 178,000 player peak, which will likely stretch even higher once the barrier to entry gets cheapened slightly.

Xbox's premiere driving series has always been mammoth sales magnet, but hype seems to have reached a fever pitch online. Perhaps those stellar Forza Horizon 6 reviews pushed it over the edge - the game dethroned Pokemon Pokopia to become 2026's best-rated game of the year, after all.

There are 15 Forza Horizon 6 Barn Finds in need of rescuing, mainly classic Japanese motors, such as Nissans, Mazdas, and Hondas. These collectible Barn Find cars will be familiar to anyone that's played a previous Forza Horizon game - unlock a rumor, find the relevant barn, then restore the car to add it to your collection - but they work a little differently in Forza Horizon 6, requiring you to earn Discover Japan points and Stamps to get those rumors first. So, to help you unlock and find them all as smoothly as possible, I've laid out everything you need to know about Barn Finds in Forza Horizon 6 below.

How to find all Forza Horizon 6 Barn Find cars

To get each of the 15 Forza Horizon 6 Barn Finds, you must unlock the relevant rumor first. If you happen to find a barn but don't have the rumor, nothing will happen.

These rumors are tied to Discover Japan Stamps, which you get by earning Discover Japan points as you play the game. Unfortunately, you need a lot of points for the later Stamps, which means unlocking every Barn Find takes a while. To speed things up, you should focus on completing and winning all Touge and Street races around the map and earning all three stars in every Story chapter. Buying houses, customizing garages, and smashing into Regional Mascots also helps.

After earning a Stamp, Mei will reveal more Barn Finds for you on your map as follows:

Once you have a Barn Find on your map, drive over to the large, purple circle and search the area for the barn – as our Forza Horizon 6 tips say, Drone Mode can be very useful for this, but I've obviously explained where they all are below anyway.

Drive over to the barn once you've found it and a cutscene will play where you, Mei, and Yuji recover the car for restoration. After that, you must wait until the car has been restored before you can drive it, unlike Forza Horizon 6 Treasure Cars which are ready straight away. This can take several hours of playing, but Mei will notify you when a Barn Find car is ready to drive, and you can always spend Credits to speed things up via the Barn Finds menu. As with previous Forza Horizon games, these barns then become Gift Drop locations to send and receive cars to other players.

Here are the locations for all Forza Horizon 6 Barn Finds. In the map images below, the white player icon is positioned at the start of the dirt track that leads to the barn, so you can fast travel to those exact positions to easily reach the barns:

Honda NSX-R GT, 2005

The barn that holds the Honda NSX-R GT is found in the Ohtani Region, northwest of Mei's House and southeast of Kinkaku-Ji Temple. You can reach it via the dirt road east of the temple.

Ford Sierra Cosworth RS500, 1987

This barn is very close to the western border of the Ito Region with Tokyo City, specifically where there's a little triangle cutout in the region border – it's west-northwest of Sekibe Circuit and south of Inakadate Tanbo Rice Art. You reach the barn using the unmarked track that heads west off the north-south road.

Toyota 2000GT, 1969

Barn Find 3 is in the northern half of the Ito Region and very near the east coast. From the Ito Day Trip Story, head southbound down main road, then take the second dirt road on left. This road leads directly to the beach, but on the way down, there's a left turn you can take to get to the barn.

Nissan Skyline 2000GT-R, 1971

The barn containing this old Nissan Skyline is on the southwestern side of the Nangan Region, which is right at the bottom of the map. Drive south down the westernmost main road in the region, until you reach the last of the farm fields. The barn is at the end of a long dirt track that leads into the woods.

Nissan PAO, 1989

Barn Find 5 is in the Minamino Region, just east of the orange dirt road that runs along part of the region's western border with the Ohtani Region and is northwest of the golf course.

Lincoln Continental, 1962

The Lincoln Continental barn is just southwest of the Shikisai-No-Aka flower fields in the middle of the Hokubu Region. Follow the orange road that cuts through the fields, heading southwest, then take the next left onto a dirt track. There's an obvious unmarked path on the right that leads directly to the barn.

Nissan #23 Pennzoil NISMO Skyline GTR, 1998

This Barn Find is in the western half of the Takashiro Region. Drive north along the white mountain road that's directly east of the waterfall and shrine (it's where the Waterfall Trail dirt race is, if you've unlocked that) and you'll come across a gravel road and car park on the right with a building at the end. Behind the building is a track that leads to the hidden barn.

Porsche 911 Turbo 3.3, 1982

Barn Find 8 is a Porsche 911 and it's in the south of the Ohtani Region, very close to the border with Tokyo City. From Mei's House, head north, then immediately go left at the intersection onto a white road that heads roughly southwest. You'll eventually spot a gravel track on your left which leads to the barn.

Peugeot 205 Turbo 16, 1984

The barn that holds a Peugeot 205 Turbo 16 is in the Shimanoyama Region, near Narai-Juku in the north. From Narai-Juku, drive west down the main road until you reach a dirt track on your right. It's roughly in the middle of the Mountain Pass Speed Zone and leads right to the barn.

Lamborghini Diablo SV, 1997

Barn Find 10 is in the Ito Region within the logging area that cuts through the forest between the airfield in the west and the east coast. Get an off-road car and drive east through the logging clearing. There's a dirt path off to the right that leads up a small hill and towards the Lambo barn.

Mitsubishi Montero Evolution, 1997

This Barn Find is on the eastern side of the Shimanoyama Region, near the winding road that makes up the Bandai Azuma Skyline Drift Zone. Follow this road northbound beyond the Drift Zone and shortly after the road turns, you can spot a dirt track leading to the barn on your right.

Mitsubishi #1 Sierra Sierra Enterprises Lancer Evolution Time Attack, 2005

Barn Find 12 is on the north side of Narai-Juku in the Shimanoyama Region, accessible via the dirt road that runs around the hills north of the town.

Nissan R390 GT1, 1998

This Barn Find car is right on the southwestern border of the Ohtani Region, roughly northwest of the Matsumi Great Bridge and southeast of the Bridge Underpass Trailblazer Start Gate. Head to the Bridge Underpass Trailblazer Start Gate and you'll spot the dirt track that leads straight to the barn.

Mazda #55 Mazda 787B, 1991

To reach this Barn Find, you need to look roughly northeast of the tea farm and northwest of Soni Circuit in the Takashiro Region. Going northbound along the orange road that leads out the tea farm (this is the same road as the Tea Farm Speed Zone), you'll come across a gravel road on your right that leads to the barn containing this ancient racing Mazda.

Don't be fooled though. While it's not quite one of the fastest Forza Horizon 6 cars, it's still a high-performance racer with an R-rating and excellent handling and braking, so I reckon it's still one of the best cars in Forza Horizon 6.

Nissan #11 Tomica Skyline Turbo Super Silhouette, 1983

Barn Find 15, the final one in Forza Horizon 6, is directly south of the Kitayama Big Daisugi landmark in the Ito Region. Drive along the orange road directly south of the landmark and you'll find a dirt path that leads downhill towards the barn.

And that’s all the Forza Horizon 6 Barn Finds! Overall, they represent a tiny portion of the Forza Horizon 6 car list but all these classics are worth adding to your collection for some variety.

Forza Horizon 6 will launch in full May 19 after enjoying its currently ongoing early access period, and then everyone will be able to crash through its idyllic Japan setting like Godzilla in a Ferrari. The racing game lets you crumble nearly everything under your tires, but no matter how hard you hit the gas, the fluffy cherry blossoms will remain pristine. Developer Playground Games decided they were too important to destroy.

As design director Torben Ellert tells The Japan Times in a new interview, Playground wanted to respect Forza fans' highly requested Japan environment by recognizing the cultural sacredness of shrines and sakura, or cherry blossoms, the country's unofficial national flower. While the tissue-paper fragility of sakura is part of what makes them so special in Japan, which treats the spring blooms as a symbol of both renewal and impermanence (and a great photo opportunity), Playground was simply not going to let you wreck their trees with a truck.

Ellert says, "Almost all trees in the game are smashable to ensure that traversing the world map is both fun and rewarding," since you can earn experience points through destruction. But "several tree types are not – for example, the cherry blossom trees – because they're an iconic element of Japanese culture." Playground also decided to protect "certain temples or other cultural elements" like shrines, according to Ellert.

In terms of gameplay, this poses no problem. If anything, our four-out-of-five Forza Horizon 6 review is more conflicted about how the game handles everything that is breakable. Like the past few Forza entries, a lot of Forza Japan reacts as if it were built from bags of flour, and even other cars feel like they disintegrate during collisions. Writer Justin Towell says, "by this sixth entry, I can't help but feel the flimsiness is hurting the game. Even at low speed in a Mini Cooper, 90% of the trees here are no barrier at all." But not the sakura trees!

Instead, their blossoms react calmly to your blustery horsepower, shaking down gently from thin branches and topping your car like powdered sugar. Driving over a blossom-covered path stirs up the pink petals and sends them fluttering in every direction, so Forza Horizon 6 at least values realism in this way – the pretty way.

Valve is once again in the limelight thanks to its generosity – a generosity I know very well as a Steam sale frequenter myself – after apparently granting a fan any free "standard-edition" game of their choice due to a misdelivery.

It's been a pretty positive week for Valve, judging by the reception its new Steam update has received and big launches on its storefront like the long-awaited Subnautica 2 release – and it's also seemingly been a good week for users, too… even those who didn't get their orders from Steam, amusingly enough.

As one person reports on Reddit, they ordered a neat Steam Controller only for it to never arrive. So, what's good about that?

Well, Steam Support's response to the user in question is. "We're very sorry for the issue with your shipment," it reads. "The carrier has informed us that a small number of packages were mistakenly routed to the UK. They are actively working to redirect your shipment to the shipping address you provided. ​​To thank you for your patience, we would like to offer to add a game to your library."

Yes, that's right – Steam apparently offered them a game.

Any game, too – albeit not some super expensive ultra mega edition, of course. "Please pick any standard-edition title available for purchase in your region and reply here with your selection," Steam's message concludes.

That's a pretty solid deal, if you ask me, and it means that the Redditor would get both their controller (eventually) as well as a fresh game to play. You might be wondering – as is every commenter – what game they'd like.

Well, according to the user, they "got the new Forza game." In other words, Forza Horizon 6, which is a nice choice. I mean, our own Forza Horizon 6 review describes it as "sublime," and it appears other folks think it was a brilliant option as well – the upvotes speak for themselves, after all.

Although, if I'm honest, I'd have probably gone for something like Final Fantasy 7 Remake myself… not just because it's, erm, expensive, either.

Obviously, there's no confirmation from Steam or Valve that this story is true, anyway, but I'd argue there's a very good chance it is. The poster does include a screenshot of the interaction, and it feels silly to fake – plus, I'm a fan of the positive vibes.

Forza Horizon 6 has already far surpassed the peak player count of its predecessor on Steam, and that's just from people who paid $120 to play early.

Microsoft's premiere racing franchise is always a bit of a low-key heavy hitter. Forza Horizon 6 has already beaten Pokemon Pokopia, Mewgenics, and Resident Evil Requiem to become 2026's best-rated game of the year, but the series rarely gets the recognition it rightfully deserves when it comes to awards. But, clearly its stock is rising somewhat within the community, as the games are performing better every time a new one launches. Forza Horizon 5 was one of the best-selling PS5 games when it finally came to the platform.

And, despite the game having a leak so prominent that the developers had to respond, with players already modding the game before it was officially out, Forza Horizon 6 is off to a massive start from players who really wanted to play it early. The official release date for Forza Horizon 6 is next Tuesday, May 19, but for those who sprung for the £110 / $120 Premium Edition version of the game, you can start playing it today. And it looks like a massive amount of players did.

At the time of writing, Forza Horizon 6 is sitting at a peak of 135,081 concurrent players per SteamDB, and that number has kept growing the entire time I've been writing this, so there's no telling where it's actually going to end up landing. However, it's a notable number regardless, as Forza Horizon 5 only peaked at 81,096 players when it launched back in 2021. Plus, keep in mind a lot of players will be playing the game through Xbox, too.

Obviously, Japan has been a highly-requested setting for the series since it launched – as it is for any open-world series that changes setting with each entry (just ask Assassin's Creed) – but the choice to finally do it has clearly paid off. And I can only expect that number of players to grow after the full game launches next week.

"It's a sea change": Forza Horizon 6 is leaving the Xbox One behind, and it's a better game because of it.

Forza Horizon 6 keeps the series' hot streak alive and speeds to become 2026's best-rated game of the year so far, dethroning Pokemon Pokopia and bumping Resident Evil Requiem down a spot.

Reviews for the open-world driving game started chugging along earlier today, and to no one's surprise, they were just as pristine as you'd expect from the Playground Games series. On Metacritic, Forza Horizon 6 averages a score of 92 based on 62 critic reviews and counting - it ties with FH5 and FH4, while FH3 has a 91 score on the site.

Forza Horizon 6's glistening debut also means it's comfortably in the top spot for the year. Cutesy life sim spin-off Pokemon Pokopia and action-horror mutation Resident Evil Requiem both have a still-respectable average score of 89, but even Leon Kennedy can only do so much when faced against the might of 550 or so cars. GamesRadar+'s Forza Horizon 6 review called it the "best Forza Horizon game yet, delivering an astonishingly vast and detailed open world, filled with incredible features" that's only held back by playing things a little too safe.

Eurogamer agrees that Forza Horizon 6 doesn't reinvent the wheel, but that's not exactly necessary when the wheel is polished enough to reflect the road blurring by: "The latest open-world racing behemoth from Playground Games instead rethinks and reworks the five titles that came before, trimming the fat and reintroducing the best bits to make Forza Horizon 6 the cleanest, buzziest, and most engrossing experience it can be."

IGN calls it a "gundamn masterpiece" and the series' best-looking, best-sounding game yet, partly thanks to Japan's stunning vistas and iconic car culture that's mentioned in pretty much every write-up about the game.

And Polygon also notes that "it's justifiable to ask how much longer it can follow the smooth grooves of its long-perfected formula without settling into a suffocating routine" after six full games and a handful of expansions.

Sounds like your Forza Horizon 6 mileage will probably vary based on how much you've enjoyed the breakneck pace of the series formula in the past, whether you've had your fill, and if the new Japan map is enough of a draw.

1. Slow in, fast out

Applying the principle of "slow in, fast out" is practically racing 101 – not just for Forza Horizon 6 either – and will massively help with cornering. Essentially, you want to approach a corner at a slower and more gentle speed, allowing you to smoothly turn and then hit the gas as you begin to straighten up for a rapid exit. Getting the right braking point and approach speed for any corner takes practice, and it's not just about driving the best Forza Horizon 6 cars either, so you'll have to dedicate some time to mastering cornering. Practice makes perfect for the next two tips as well!

2. Use the racing line

Making the most of "slow in, fast out" in FH6 relies on you also following the racing line as best as possible. You can use its blue, yellow, and red color shifting to gauge braking points as you approach turns and corner apexes (the point where you're closest to the inside edge of the corner) so you know when to get back on the throttle. The line is on by default but if you're a bit more experienced, you can switch it to Braking Only, which means the line only appears when you're approaching a corner at too high a speed. There are plenty of other Forza Horizon 6 settings and assists you can change too!

3. Don't slam the brakes or the throttle all the time

If you play using a controller, it's very easy to get into the habit of just slamming the triggers whenever you need to brake or accelerate, but this can be quite ineffective. Punching full throttle can cause wheelspin, bad launches, and a loss of control (this is especially common for the fastest Forza Horizon 6 cars), while hitting the brakes as hard as possible can severely impede your steering and lead to spinning out. Get used to pressing down the triggers more slowly and sometimes partially for smoother driving and better racing. Depending on the corner, sometimes a quick tap of the brakes can be enough or even just releasing the throttle and coasting a little.

4. Use Auto Upgrade to easily upgrade your car

If you want to give your car a performance boost without dipping into the overwhelming world of tuning, the Auto Upgrade option is good enough. Take your cars to any of your garages or the Horizon Festival sites and use Auto Upgrade to boost it to the maximum performance rating for its current class – for example, you could boost a C-class car to 500 or an S2-class car to 900. These upgrades are rarely that expensive and can make a noticeable difference. You can of course upgrade your car to an even higher class too, but sometimes it's better to just buy a better car than pay for the considerable upgrades.

5. Check your collection journal often for rewards

Your Collection Journal is one of the main options on the Campaign menu and shows your progress across the Horizon Festival and Discover Japan. Both have tons of challenges to complete and rewards to collect, including Credits, cosmetics, and even cars to fill out your Forza Horizon 6 car list, so check in often to claim your prizes.

Participate in races and other events to rack up points for Festival wristbands, letting you access more events and therefore get even more rewards. Otherwise, explore the map and complete Stories to get Discover Japan points and Stamps which will help you unlock the same sorts of rewards and even Forza Horizon 6 Barn Finds. Stories can also help you learn about certain aspects of the game – for example, you can join the Drift Club if you want to learn more about drifting.

6. Prioritize buying houses

For a game all about racing, worrying about houses more than cars seems odd, but each property you own in Forza Horizon 6 provides its own perk, from a free daily Wheelspin to increased Credit payouts in certain events, it's well worth having these to help you bolster your progression and car collection.

7. Take photos at the start of a race

The Horizon Festival Promo feature, where you take pictures of every car possible, is a great way of quickly and easily earning point towards your next wristband. If you see a car with a camera icon above it, that means you've not added it to your Promo and can take a photo of it. Every car you snap awards you 10 points, which can quickly add up and boost your Festival progress. To make the most of this feature, enter Photo Mode (D-Pad Up) as soon as a race starts, then snap some Quickshot pictures with RB/R1 of all the cars on the grid!

You can also use Photo Mode in free roam to remove car damage in Forza Horizon 6.

8. De-fogging the map gets you lots of XP and CR

As well as revealing new races and activities, driving around the map to clear the fog also gets you large chunks of XP and Credits for every 25% of a region you clear – in total, you get 100,000 Credits per Region. That means clearing every region will give you one million CR - a great way to get money in Forza Horizon 6! Importantly, it’s also a much less daunting task than it seems since the game will completely clear a region for you once you've cleared roughly 70%-80% of it – the exact number varies by region.

9. ANNA's Auto Drive and Drone Mode options are really handy

The navigation assistant robot ANNA now lets you easily use Drone Mode and a new Auto Drive feature to help you get around. To access either option, press D-Pad Down then Up for Drone Mode or Left for Enable Auto Drive.

Drone Mode is great for searching Barn Find areas and even looking for the new Forza Horizon 6 Treasure Cars and has always been buried in menus in previous Forza Horizon games. Meanwhile, Auto Drive is good for helping you get around if you don't want to drive or fast travel, or you need to quickly put your controller down to do something else.

10. Fast travel is much simpler now

Speaking of fast travel, it's now much easier to use compared to previous Forza Horizon games. Fast Travel boards and Credit fees are gone, and now you can fast travel to any point on a road that you've previously driven on for free – in other words, you can't us Forza Horizon 6 fast travel to reach grey roads. Hover the map cursor over the point you want to travel to, then press X/Square.

Forza Horizon 6 Treasure Cars are prized motors hidden far and wide that you must find based on a single photo and a small description. You'll gather these clues just by driving around the Japan map, so they're much easier to uncover than Barn Find rumors, but gleaning the real location in Forza Horizon 6 from the photo isn't always so simple. With that in mind, I've detailed the locations of all nine Treasure Cars in FH6 below to help you find them all with no fuss.

Forza Horizon 6 Treasure Car locations

There are nine Treasure Cars to find in Forza Horizon 6, one for each of the regions on the Japan map besides Legend Island. As soon as you drive roughly near a Treasure Car, Mei will conveniently give you a photo clue that shows the location of that car, which you can then use to find and collect it.

Other than simply driving around, there are no requirements to meet to get all the photo clues, unlike Forza Horizon 6 Barn Finds. Additionally, you can collect these Treasure Cars and add them to your Forza Horizon 6 car list collection in any order, with no need to wait for repairs. Since most are quite old cars, make sure you've got the right Forza Horizon 6 settings and assists for smooth driving too.

Here's where to go to unlock each of the nine FH6 treasure cars:

Nissan Figaro, Tokyo City near the Rainbow Bridge

You can find the Nissan Figaro in a car park in Tokyo City off the southern road that runs along the water bank. It's roughly northeast of the white Rainbow Bridge and northwest of the Daikoku Parking Area map marker.

Dodge Charger R/T, Minamino golf course

This Dodge Charger FH6 Treasure Car is tucked behind the convenience store and clubhouse buildings on the east side of the Minamino golf course, which is right in the middle of the region near the Airfield Trail dirt race.

Mazda RX-7 GSL-SE, Ohtani radio towers

You'll find the Mazda RX-7 GSL-SE next to some radio towers by the western border of Ohtani where it meets the Shimanoyama Region.

Porsche 959, Shimanoyama corner shop

The Porsche 959 is just outside the convenience store on the southeastern side of Narai-Juku, the small town in the north of Shimanoyama.

BMW M1, Hokubu railway bridge

Under the railway bridge section surrounded by crop fields in the north of the Hobuku region is where you'll find the BMW M1 Forza Horizon 6 Treasure Car. It's roughly northeast of the colorful Shikisai-No-Oka flower fields and northwest of Hokubu Circuit.

Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution III GS, Takashiro waterfall and temple

Head towards Nachi Falls in the northwestern corner of the Takashiro Region and you'll find this Mitsubishi Lancer Treasure Car on the dirt road in front of the waterfall.

Lancia Stratos HF Stradale, Sotoyama near Tateyama Kurobe Alpine Route

The Lancia Stratos is next to a lone café building along the east-west main road across the mountains in Sotoyama, which is the Tateyama Kurobe Alpine Route.

Ford GT, Nangan coastal trail

You can find the Ford GT Treasure Car in a beach car park at the end of an unmarked dirt track on the easternmost point of the Nangan Region. Drive all the way down the coastal road, then onto the dirt road that comes off it to get towards the correct beach.

While this isn't one of the fastest Forza Horizon 6 cars, it's easily one of the best Treasure Cars in the game and is well worth collecting!

Nissan Safari Turbo, Ito Wind Farm

The Nissan Safari Turbo. Can be found around the summit of the Ito Region's northernmost mountain dirt road. This Forza Horizon 6 Treasure Car is parked in front of one of the many wind turbines in the area.

Getting the right Forza Horizon 6 assists and settings for you is crucial for the best racing experience, both in terms of your comfort and even in your race performance. Most of the driving assists in the game serve as accessibility options that some will be absolutely essential for some players, helping with things like steering and braking in Forza Horizon 6, but for other players these assists can end up causing problems. I've put many hours into the Forza Horizon series and here are the assists and settings I always use when playing with a controller, geared for giving you plenty of driving control without overcomplicating things.

Best assists for Forza Horizon 6

To change your FH6 assists, you need to open the Difficulty menu, which can be done either by pressing X on the game's main menu or by pausing the game to open the 'Campaign' menu, then selecting 'Settings', followed by 'Difficulty':

• Drivatar Difficulty: Start on Average and see how you get on. If you win consecutive races, the game will offer to bump the difficulty up a level or two to provide more of challenge and more Credits.
• Braking: Anti-Lock On
• Steering: Simulation
• Traction Control: On
• Stability Control: Off
• Shifting: Automatic

With these Forza Horizon 6 assists, you'll be getting 25% more Credits thanks to the difficulty bonus. You can increase this bonus substantially, helping you get even more Forza Horizon 6 money, by upping the Drivatar Difficulty and switching to Manual Shifting but this will obviously make driving more complicated.

The rest of the assists are cosmetic only and don't affect your Credit payouts, so you can set them however you want. New players should keep Driving Line on full, set Damage & Tyre Wear to None or Cosmetic (this is how you turn off car damage in Forza Horizon 6), and keep both Rewind and Launch Control on.

Best settings for Forza Horizon 6

There are a few other options you can adjust in the FH6 Settings menu outside of the assists to make driving easier:

• HUD & Gameplay:
  • Proximity Radar: Turning this on is far from essential but you may find it useful for avoiding collisions with other cars during races. You can also change the radar's on-screen position and whether it provides audio warnings too.
  • Camera: Chase Far. If the 'Chase' camera angle is your preferred angle for controller, the far version gives you a wider field-of-view letting you see more of what's to the left, right, and rear of your car, which helps you see cars attempting overtakes during races.
  • Time Splits: On. This is set to 'Multiplayer Only' by default but I think it's useful to see time splits in any race.
  • Time Splits UI Size: This is set to 'Expanded' by default but you may want to switch to 'Mini' so that it takes up less space on your screen.
• Video:
  • Graphics Mode: Performance. Increases the game's frame rate at the cost of a lower resolution. The higher frame rate makes things feel much smoother, especially at high speeds.
  • Motion Blur: set to 'Short' or 'Off', particularly if using Performance mode.

With Microsoft finally admitting your TV is not an Xbox, the time is absolutely right for Forza Horizon 6 to demonstrate what the Xbox brand always stood for: kick-ass gaming on a kick-ass console (and PC, alright). And for the most part, Forza Horizon 6 absolutely delivers that. This sleek, Japan-set open world arguably makes for the most 'AAA' racing game ever made, even pipping Gran Turismo 7 in terms of technical prowess. Playing on my Xbox Series X, I'd go so far as to say I've never seen a better racing game engine. While I have some reservations about elements of its play, which we'll get to, fundamentally this is a product that would fit nicely into anyone's game library. It's the best Forza Horizon game, and a quite remarkable feat of software production.

The most important part of any driving game is how the car moves, and Forza Horizon 6 is almost too smooth. Drive a real car after playing this for a few hours and you will conclude that the game is very little like real driving. Off-road, there are moments where it feels like the sublime early rally stages in Gran Turismo 3, with the car's wheels rolling convincingly over smoothly undulating dirt roads. But on tarmac, everything feels a little too sanitized. The closest modern comparison of feel would be Dirt 5: glorious trackside vegetation, plenty of physics objects to disturb, but all a bit 'nice' and inoffensive compared to the genre's best.

On default settings, the car handling actually owes more to 1995's Sega Rally than Forza Motorsport, as turning into a slide doesn't correct you – it immediately starts turning your whole car towards the direction you pressed. Even on 'Simulation' steering, correcting a slide doesn't feel right here. Now, I'm personally all for a driving game that knows it's a video game and eschews realism in favour of playability, but I am tired of hitting walls on the exit of corners because I tried to straighten up. The game therefore sits somewhere between arcade and simulation and never truly convinces on either front.

Rooting out

Since Forza Horizon 2, we've been able to straightline it through a field without worry, smashing through fences and armco barriers as if they're made of balsa wood. It was novel back then but, by this sixth entry, I can't help but feel the flimsiness is hurting the game. Even at low speed in a Mini Cooper, 90% of the trees here are no barrier at all. Heading straight for a forest of scary, towering timber? Don't sweat it. Just floor it and cut a swathe through the whole thing. I understand that destruction of physics objects is part of the skill system, and therefore a game in itself, but when I'm driving around one of the most convincing open worlds ever made, I can't help wishing it reacted more realistically. The same goes for traffic collisions too. They are, quite frankly, rubbish.

Nonetheless, developer Playground Games has perfected its skill system here. With the next race entry some 6km away, you start E-drifting by pulling the handbrake, grazing the rear of your car along the barrier, knocking individual segments off the flyover and down into the exquisitely-modelled valley below. You 'thread the needle' by passing through oncoming traffic – some civilian, others a mix of AI or real-world drivers, depending on your Game Pass subscription status. Keep the combo going and you win skill points to spend on your car's own skill tree, allowing you to level up your favorite ride. I did it all the way in several cars, including my Ferrari F50 which unlocked another, even better Ferrari F50. How cool is that?

While you're doing this, you might notice a rival racer with a camera icon above their Gamertag/Drivatar name. This means you can take a photo by pushing up on the d-pad, adding the car to the fictional Festival promo material, and essentially filling out an automotive Pokedex. Gotta snap 'em all. While you're at it, you can photograph tourist attractions in Japan, all the while boosting your Festival XP.

Forza Horizon 6 is superbly paced for the first 20 hours or so, as you complete races and smash bonus boards in free roam. As you fill stages of your progress bar, you get to take part in Horizon Rush events, which are familiar, one-off showpieces. The irony is not lost on me that the few times you don't get to choose your vehicle the game is at its best, as the experience becomes expertly curated, designed around fixed parameters – something games of this scale don't normally deliver.

The race against the giant mech is the clear standout, though the first Rush event is a superb test of pure driving skill. Sadly, these special events peak too soon, diminishing in spectacle until the last one is arguably only going to excite longtime fans. And even then they may feel disappointed.

A marathon, not a sprint

Trouble is, the XP bar you have to fill up in order to win the Golden Wristband (still only around 50% of full completion) takes much longer to fill than the others, and after 20 hours you may run out of things you really want to do. Having completed the vast majority of the Horizon Festival races, I was left to try to beat speed traps, ace danger sign jumps, take photos, and hunt bonus boards for a few hours before I could finally declare myself a Horizon Legend, which sounds varied and fun but started to grate. If you prefer to play games quickly to finish them and move on, the pacing in Forza Horizon 6 might frustrate you. But, without time constraints, you could easily spend weeks immersing yourself in this virtual Japan and deep diving into the side content before you ever get near Legends Island.

Case in point: your Home. After a while you get the opportunity to buy a property to act as your base of operations, but it's so much more than that. You get acres and acres of open land in which to build your dream track, able to go wild like it's your very own life-size Hot Wheels. You can share your creation with the world, download other people's, and you even gain credits when people play or like your creation. Someone's already made Mario Circuit from Super Mario Kart on the SNES, which got a Like from me. The potential for further gameplay here is essentially unlimited.

Then there's the online integration. Forza Horizon 6 is wonderful and feature-rich without inviting the world to play with you, and there's a dedicated 'Solo' mode where you don't need an active online subscription to play. But, when I did go online, loads of additional gameplay flowed in, refreshing and expanding the experience. There are races restricted to single vehicles, group activities like hunting petrol pump characters, and loads more. You can challenge anyone you meet in free roam to a quick race, or ask them to join you. There's even preset chat options mapped to the d-pad (which I bet gets translated into different languages like Phantasy Star Online did back in the day).

All this and I haven't even mentioned the 'Discover Japan' side of the single-player mode. This takes you on tourist trips to special locations, explaining the island's history and letting you try some classic cars on the way. There are expeditions to pick up rare cars and give them to your modding friend Yuji, who soups them up. He also deals with barn finds. There is quite a lot of dialogue between the characters, and while the script is solid enough, it doesn't quite hit home. It's all very family-friendly while also trying to channel modding culture cool, which doesn't quite gel. Similarly, the characters don't look anywhere near as convincing as the cars. It's funny to see your car cross the line in a blaze of pyrotechnic glory, only to glimpse your avatar's emotionless mug through the windshield.

I have to talk about the visuals in general, however, as they are exceptional. We've seen several great open world locations over the past few years, but Forza Horizon 6's recreation of Japan is simply superlative. Some of the views you get over the Danger Sign jumps are incredible. You feel a mile up in the air, looking down over a forest of 3D trees stretching away to the ocean in the distance.

On Xbox Series X, it does all of this at 4K, 30fps by default, or alternatively 'performance' mode uses lower, dynamic resolution scaling and slightly reduced effects to maintain a rock solid 60fps, which I would recommend. It's glorious. And all this with dynamic weather, day/night transitions, and even calendar-locked seasons too (unless you race online where you might get an early glimpse of another season).

Turn on, tune in

The festival radio stations offer a mix of rock, J-pop, dance music, and more. A few tracks do start to repeat and may jar if you don't like them, but a quick push of right on the d-pad cycles stations so there's always something cool to listen to. The quality of the audio is arguably just as impressive as the visual quality. It sounds super-deluxe.

Difficulty is often an area of concern in Forza, but Forza Horizon 6 recognizes when you're winning too easily and offers to raise the difficulty level in exchange for higher winnings. Even so, I did find some events way harder than others, particularly earlier buggy races where everyone else seemed to have twice as much grip as me. But then you will win by a mile on the next dirt race. That said – at last – this is a Forza game where one driver never dashes off into an unassailable lead. Imagine that! I only saw it once, and even then I was able to catch them. Amazing scenes.

I can't think of another racing game besides the previous Forza Horizon where there was so much to do, and never so convincingly. Every element feels polished. Rewinding the action works well, Photo Mode is glorious as always, some cars are ludicrously fast… you even see actual people in the Tokyo streets thanks to clever partitioning which means you can never crash into them. Oh, and for that matter, I've never seen so many people on-screen as there are at the Horizon festival itself. There are hundreds, if not a thousand people enjoying the music.

There's no faulting the software here. The problems are just design decisions that don't quite sit right. You've surely heard games described as 'vanilla', implying they're bland or unexciting. In ice-cream flavours, chocolate is better, amarena cherry cheesecake flavour is best. We know this. Forza Horizon 6 is like a premium tub of super-deluxe, Madagascan vanilla ice cream, made with real Jersey cream; it's delicious and absolutely worth the extra money, but it's still vanilla.

If there was a bit of personality on show from the rival drivers, more action in the racing to make it less of a procession, a little more resistance in the trackside obstacles and Flatout 4-style deformation tech for the crashes, this would likely be the best racing game ever made. As it is, while it plays the racing too safe to be essential for racing game aficionados, even they will undoubtedly take much enjoyment from the sheer high quality of this game. It is amazing.

Despite not being available officially for another day, players are already modding Forza Horizon 6 on PC.

Forza Horizon 6's PC version leaked in full earlier this week, allowing folks to start playing the game over a week before its release on May 19 (and days before its early access launch on May 15). So, outside of those who you would typically expect to be playing the game at the moment – be that reviewers or Microsoft staff – there's a large number of people driving through Japan as we speak in-game. Playground Games confirmed the leak and threatened "franchise-wide and hardware bans" for players accessing this build, but of course that hasn't stopped people.

But not only are people playing the early build, some have gone a step further and have published mods for the game before it's even released. As spotted by The Gamer, the Nexus Mods page for Forza Horizon 6 is beginning to populate with mods for the upcoming open-world driving game.

So far, there's nothing that massively overhauls the game, but a roster of quality-of-life improvements for the title such as the ability to disable HUD elements, replace the Xbox icons with PlayStation, and the ability to skip the game's training.

However, the other mod available is arguably the most important, as it replaces the intro video and music to the game with the title theme to The Fast and Furious: Tokyo Drift, which, given the game is set in Japan and features street racing, was inevitable.

The Forza Horizon 6 release time has been and gone for Xbox and Steam as it's now out on both platforms all over the world. The full launch means all players, not just Premium Edition owners with early access can now play the game, including those with Game Pass subscriptions. And if you used the New Zealand time zone trick on Xbox to play Forza Horizon 6, you can set you clock back to normal!

Forza Horizon 6 Steam release time

Forza Horizon 6 launched on Steam simultaneously around the world at 4:01AM UTC on May 19.

Forza developer Playground Games confirmed Forza Horizon 6 has leaked ahead of its scheduled May 19 launch, but denied that the leak was related to a gap in Steam pre-loads for the game.

In a post on Twitter, the studio says, "We are aware of reports that a build of Forza Horizon 6 has been obtained prior to its release and can confirm this is not the result of a pre-load issue."

Today, word circulated that a Steam listing for the full 155GB file for Forza Horizon 6 was posted as downloadable on SteamDB. However, SteamDB itself claims the game "was very likely leaked by someone with early access to the build (reviewer or similar)" in a post of its own. It also reckons the mysterious listing spotted by fans was just that, a listing, and not a way to access the pre-release game.

"At around the same time, the file list appeared on SteamDB because someone (could be someone else) used our token dumper. SteamDB does not display or share keys, nor can it provide downloads."

If you're considering a scavenger hunt for this leaked Forza Horizon 6 build, first consider this: Playground will break your digital knees with a sledgehammer.

In its post, Playground Games adds: "We are taking strict enforcement action against any individuals found accessing this build including franchise-wide and hardware bans. We encourage fans to sit tight for the game’s release on May 19."

In other words, players caught playing Forza Horizon 6 so early risk a fate worse than death: being unable to play any Forza game using their own account or even their entire system. I think I'd just wait a week, folks.

The Forza Horizon 6 PS5 release date isn't known right now, but we at least know it's coming out at some point this year. Since FH5 sold so well when it launched on PS5 in 2025, it's no surprise that Xbox wants to try and repeat that success with Forza Horizon 6, but a certain crime game that also features lots of open world driving makes guessing when FH6 may come out a tad tricky. Here's all we know about the PS5 release date for Forza Horizon 6 and when it could release.

When will Forza Horizon 6 release on PS5?

Forza Horizon 6 will release on PS5 in 2026, but a specific release date beyond that hasn't been announced yet, with the Playstation Store listing saying it's "coming soon". The racing game is out now on Xbox Series X/S and PC via Steam and the Microsoft Store, and you can even play Forza Horizon 6 on Game Pass too.

If I were to guess when Forza Horizon 6 will come to PS5, I would say that a six-month gap, putting the PS5 release in mid-November, 2026, would be a fairly reasonable answer – that's plenty of time to refine the live Xbox and Steam versions for the PS5 release and it would allow Xbox to cash in on another wave of sales in the lead up to Christmas.

The main issue is that this would put the PS5 version of FH6 squarely in the way of Grand Theft Auto 6's current November 19 release date, which practically every developer and publisher seems keen to avoid. Forza Horizon 5's PS5 release back in April 2025 was a huge success for Xbox (and Sony), selling over 5.5 million copies, so it's possible that Xbox opts for an earlier PS5 release date instead to get ahead of GTA6.

Although, to be clear, this is all just guesswork, and it might be that FH6 releases on PS5 in the summer or could even get delayed to 2027. It may even be the case that GTA6 gets delayed again first! While you wait, you can at least wishlist the game on the PlayStation Store and take a look at the full Forza Horizon 6 car list! Is Forza Horizon 6 on Game Pass? As an Xbox Game Studios-published title, FH6 is playable on the subscription service as of now, but only if you're paying for the highest Game Pass tier. Of course, your subscription means you'll be saving yourself at least $70/£60 by not having to buy the game, but there's a lot of premium add-on content for Forza Horizon 6 that isn't covered by Game Pass that might take your fancy. So, here's a rundown of everything you need to know about FH6 on Game Pass.

Can you play Forza Horizon 6 with Game Pass?

Yes, Forza Horizon 6 is now on Game Pass, but only on the Ultimate and PC plans. That means Essential and Premium subscribers need to upgrade to be able to play it.

As a Game Pass subscriber, you can also buy the Premium Upgrade Bundle for $59.99/£59.99 to get access to all the Premium Edition goodies. Those are two post-launch expansions, two Car Packs, the Welcome Pack, the Car Pass, and VIP membership – this will fill out some of your collection if you're trying to own the entire Forza Horizon 6 car list and VIP status will also quite substantially increase the amount of Forza Horizon 6 money you earn per race.

Just bear in mind that if you cancel your Game Pass subscription, you won't be able to play the game at all unless you buy the base game or resubscribe to Game Pass Ultimate.

While there's also no chance of Forza Horizon 6 leaving Game Pass any time soon, remember that almost all previous Forza Horizon games are Game Pass – at the time of writing, Forza Horizon 5 is the only previous Forza Horizon game that you can play on the service. This probably won't be an issue for Forza Horizon 6 for several years but it's something to bear in mind if you want to play the game long-term, as it won't be on Game Pass forever, assuming the trend continues.

If you've been having a bad time at work recently, take solace in the fact you're not the one who leaked your studio's game early on Steam. Forza Horizon 6 unexpectedly arrived on Valve's marketplace over a week before launch, giving players a chance to check out the racer earlier than anticipated.

It's believed the sequel's leak is somehow tied to a Steam update that contained all the files necessary to make it playable. Keen-eyed fans spotted the updated listing on SteamDB and, upon further inspection, noticed that the full 155GB game was both downloadable and bootable.

On Forza Horizon 6's SteamDB page, under Depots, you can still find the build listed. Clicking through will give you a full list of all the files therein. The Branches table down below calls this the 'public' branch, lending credence to the notion that this is indeed the full game as it was intended to be released on Steam, but over a week ahead of schedule.

Reddit posts associated with the leak are being moderated for links, but this being the internet, Forza Horizon 6 is findable if you know where to look. There's no indication of how well it runs or whether all the appropriate options are available.

Some have even taken to hoping for an early release. "Might as well ship the game now. I mean, if someone really wants to play they are going to grab the cracked version early," one player states on Reddit.

"Can they bring foward the release date for people that have paid for it then? Seems fair?" another says.

Commenters on Reddit have noted streamers and content creators posting footage, but Microsoft is likely playing whack-a-mole to suppress and delete those. Besides, these builds can be missing features or mechanics, or there could be failsafes within them that treat these copies as pirated and disable certain mechanics.

The only way to guarantee you're playing the game as intended is to get it when it's actually available to buy. So far, neither Microsoft nor Playground Games have commented on the leak. They might not, either, given how close we are to release. Forza Horizon 6 comes out on May 19, with early access for preorders starting on May 15, so there's only a short time to wait, and in situations like this, acknowledging the thing is out there may do more harm than good.

The Forza Horizon 6 car list is massive, as is to be expected for a Forza game, at nearly 400 cars spread across just over 70 manufacturers. There are a few motors making their debut in the Forza series but there are also plenty returning from previous games too. Fitting the setting of Forza Horizon 6, there are also a ton of Japanese cars on the list too from the likes of Honda, Nissan, Toyota, and more. Below, I've laid out the full list of cars in Forza Horizon 6 that we know of so far.

How many cars are in Forza Horizon 6?

Forza Horizon 6 will have over 550 cars at launch, but the published list so far has only 392 cars spread across 71 manufacturers. That puts Forza Horizon 6's launch list a cut above the Forza Horizon 5 car list, which launched with 500 cars but now has just over 900 in the collection.

Bear in mind that some of the cars on the Forza Horizon 6 list are locked behind premium Car Packs too, so while the base game has plenty of cars to collect, you'll have to fork out some extra cash if you want to bolster your collection further - and there will be more Car Packs in the future to expand the roster even more. Additionally, some cars are locked behind limited-time promotions and may not be obtainable in the future.

Star Wars: Galactic Racer already had nostalgia on its side thanks to its spiritual connections to the beloved 1999 release of Episode 1: Racer. A new trailer has finally revealed Galactic Racer's October release date, and the devs are going heavy on their appeal to your prequel nostalgia in the trailer announcing the news, showcasing some Phantom Menace skins for the Deluxe Edition on top of a teaser for a returning racer.

On October 6, 2026, Star Wars: Galactic Racer will be released across PS5, Xbox Series X/S, and PC for a price of $59.99 / £49.99 / €59.99. You can upgrade to the $79.99 / £64.99 / €79.99 Deluxe Edition for a handful of additional goodies, including a digital art book, some exclusive vehicles, and a trip of unique arcade events.

But it's the livery pack included in the Deluxe Edition that shows where Galactic Racer's heart lies. This includes a Naboo N-1 Starfighter paint job that you can apply to all of your vehicles to give them 1999's shiniest yellow-and-chrome look. As Anakin Skywalker would put it: "Yippee!"

If you want to spend even more money, there is, of course, a pricey Collector's Edition available for $159.99 / £139.99 / €159.99. This includes all the digital bonuses from the Deluxe Edition, plus a physical version of the art book, a pair of batches, a banner, and a model of the Kor Sarun: Darc X landspeeder.

Maybe the most notable thing in today's news is a very brief clip around the 11-second mark in the release date reveal trailer. There, we seem to have control of Sebulba and his racer on the Boonta Eve Classic track, while just off ahead is another racer that will be familiar to those of us who watched Episode 1's podrace scene on repeat as kids: Ody Mandrell. You know, the one with the "record-setting pit droid team."

Galactic Racer takes place during the New Republic era of the Star Wars timeline, several decades after the events of The Phantom Menace. It would be easy to assume that the racers from Episode 1 would all be dead or retired by this point in the chronology, but it seems the devs are keen to make sure some familiar faces are still in tow.

Though maybe the timeline won't play in at all. Notably, Mandrell appears here only in a Boonta Eve race with Sebulba – just the same way Ben Quadinaros, another returning Episode 1 face, appeared in a trailer earlier this year. I've got my fingers crossed that at least some of these characters, or at least their vehicles, will be playable in-game, but it's equally possible that this is just a flashback sequence where we play through the podrace from Episode 1.

I was a little worried when the first Galactic Racer trailer seemed to deemphasize the podracers in favor of landspeeders and speeder bikes, but I guess that first Sebulba tease should've been all the clue I'd need that Galactic Racer was going to pay more than lip service to Episode 1's legacy in racing games.

Episode 1: Racer's shadow is impossible to ignore when you're talking about a Star Wars racing game, especially when its sequel, Racer Revenge, is barely remembered and the kart racer Super Bombad Racing is typically forgotten entirely. I'm glad, at least, that somebody still remembers the likes of Ody Mandrell and Ben Quadinaros.

Star Wars: Galactic Racer is where the fun begins. Star Wars' galaxy far, far away is home to much sci-fi excitement, but there's always been something captivating about the CG-spectacle displays of speed in the prequel trilogy. Who among us didn't constantly rewind Star Wars: Episode 1 to rewatch the Tatooine podrace, or wear down our controls playing the tie-in game?

Developer Fuse Games promises a slick, modernized take on sci-fi racing with Star Wars: Galactic Racer. With the team including Burnout and Need for Speed veterans on staff, there's no doubt they can capture the thrill of Star Wars' high-stakes, dangerous racing. Taking part in the Galactic League, races take place across the Outer Rim on several fan favorite planets across the whole movie saga, from Jakku to Hoth and, yes, of course, Tatooine. We've jumped at the chance to speak with Lucasfilm and Fuse Games about putting together a dream experience that finally aims to put the series' greatest sport on the podium once again.
