The Guardians of the Galaxy will team up with the Avengers in Infinity War, according to Vin Diesel

As soon as Marvel announced the Avengers: Infinity War movies as part of their Phase 3 lineup, many assumed that it would include an appearance from the Guardians of the Galaxy. That's seemingly been confirmed by Vin Diesel, who posted a video to Facebook (as he is wont to do) claiming that Groot, Rocket and co will indeed show up in the next Avengers movie:

"The Guardians will be included in Avengers: Infinity War and that’s incredibly exciting, incredibly exciting. Incredibly exciting, and something that if you were a part of our page, you knew before everybody, or you were told before everybody".

While Guardians Vol. 2 director James Gunn has previously stated that the sequel will have no mention of infinity stones or Thanos, it was always inevitable that they'd cross paths with the Mad Titan - and therefore, the Avengers - sooner rather than later. It will be interesting to see just where the Guardians end up at the end of Vol. 2, and I'm equally curious to see how they factor into the Infinity War narrative.

In any case, the thought of the Guardians sharing the silver screen with the Avengers as well as Black Panther, Doctor Strange, Spider-Man, and Captain Marvel is, to use Vin Diesel's quote, "incredibly exciting".

Directed by James Gunn and starring Chris Pratt, Zoe Saldana, Dave Bautista, Karen Gillan, Michael Rooker, Kurt Russell, Bradley Cooper, and Vin Diesel, Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 will hit UK cinemas on April 28, 2017 and open in US theatres on May 5, 2017.

Directed by Anthony and Joe Russo, Avengers: Infinity War is due to arrive in UK cinemas on April 27, 2018 before opening in US theatres on May 4th, 2018.
