City of Brass is a first-person Prince of Persia with permadeath from ex-BioShock devs

We haven't had a new Prince of Persia game in more than half a decade, but maybe a new project from former BioShock devs will scratch the itch for fans of the classic series. City of Brass is a first-person roguelike inspired by Arabian Nights, and shares more than a passing semblance to Ubisoft's famous platformer. Take a look:

Armed with a whip and scimitar, you'll need to make your way through the City of Brass to steal hoards of priceless treasure. Your whip can be used to disarm enemies and grapple onto specific points so you can swing across rooftops like an Arabian Spider-Man, while your scimitar… well, it's a sword. It does what swords do.

There are plenty of pitfalls, traps, and enemies along the way of course, and you'll need to use your wits as well as your weapons to survive. There are genies that act as shopkeeps, offering upgrades and items on your run. Just keep in mind that if you mess up, it's back to procedurally-generated square one - but, that's permadeath for you.

City of Brass is coming to PC later this year, PS4 and Xbox One in 2018.
