If you thought you were going to have to wait a really long time for the return of Chilling Adventures of Sabrina, well, you weren't the only one, but as it turns out Chilling Adventures of Sabrina season 2 will be here MUCH sooner than we originally thought! Even though most of us still haven't fully recovered from the shocking Chilling Adventures of Sabrina ending, Netflix has already confirmed an early 2019 release date and released a first trailer for Chilling Adventures of Sabrina - Part 2, as it's officially called.
The confirmed Chilling Adventures of Sabrina season 2 release date is April 5, 2019, which is only about four months away, and don't forget, we have the Christmas special, Chilling Adventures of Sabrina: A Midwinter's Tale, before then too, which lands on December 14, 2018. Basically, you won't have to suffer your witchy withdrawals much longer...
What else do we know about the returning series? Well, a surprising amount actually, including how many Chilling Adventures of Sabrina season 2 episodes there'll be, who's joining the Chilling Adventures of Sabrina season 2 cast, and what the "different direction" the showrunner and stars have been teasing might entail. Read on for everything we know about Chilling Adventures of Sabrina season 2 so far, but beware if you’ve not finished the first season yet, as there’s spoilers to follow.

Chilling Adventures of Sabrina season 2 release date
With both seasons of Chilling Adventures filming back-to-back, we knew the Chilling Adventures of Sabrina season 2 release date couldn't be too far off, but even we couldn't have predicated an early 2019 air date! Netflix recently revealed that the Chilling Adventures of Sabrina season 2 release date is April 5, 2019, which means we have just four months(!) until the teenage witch returns for Part 2. We'll see Sabrina Spellman back on our screens before then though thanks to the Christmas special, which hits the streaming service in a few weeks on December 14, 2018. Now is that enough Sabrina for you?
Chilling Adventures of Sabrina season 2 trailer
Unbelievably, we actually have the first Chilling Adventures of Sabrina season 2 trailer (above) already! While it doesn't feel like five minutes since the first season hit the streaming service, thanks to both seasons filming back-to-back and the popularity of the show, Netflix has clearly decided there's no point making us wait and we couldn't be happier.
While the first Chilling Adventures of Sabrina season 2 trailer doesn't give much away in terms of the plot (well, we wouldn't want it to, would we?) it does tease what life looks like for the teenage witch now she's fully embraced her witchy half. Not only does the Chilling Adventures of Sabrina season 2 trailer start with a nod to the intro from the Sabrina the Teenage Witch sitcom, but it teases a much... edgier (as Zelda puts it) Sabrina, complete with her new platinum blonde 'do.
Chilling Adventures of Sabrina season 2 cast
The Chilling Adventures of Sabrina season 2 cast list is technically unconfirmed at this point, but suffice to say, Kiernan Shipka will be back as Sabrina Spellman herself. We can also probably say with some confidence that everyone who survived the first season will also return, which includes Ross Lynch as Harvey, Lucy Davis as Hilda, Miranda Otto as Zelda, Chance Perdomo as Ambrose, Jaz Sinclair as Ros, Lachlan Watson as Susie, Tati Gabrielle as Prudence, Michelle Gomez as Madame Satan, Richard Coyle as Father Blackwood, as well as many other supporting characters.
As things stand, those who (probably) won’t be a part of the Chilling Adventures of Sabrina season 2 cast include Justin Dobies as Tommy (Harvey’s brother) and Bronson Pinchot as Principal Hawthorne as both characters met their end in season 1. Having said that, don’t rule them out completely. This is a show, after all, that deals in resurrections, ghosts, and other supernatural beings on a semi-regular basis, so there’s no saying both Dobies and Pinchot won’t turn up in season 2 in some capacity or other. Personally, I’d be very surprised if Tommy doesn’t come back to haunt Harvey either physically or metaphorically.
The hottest new TV shows you don't want to miss
No doubt we’ll get some new Chilling Adventures of Sabrina season 2 cast members too, but so far all we have are a few casting announcements regarding the Christmas special. Mckenna Grace will be playing a young Sabrina who will be "asking Santa for something special," according to her character description, while Alexis Denisof (of Buffy and Angel fame) will be playing Mary Wardwell’s boyfriend, Adam Masters. His character description reads: "Handsome and charming, Adam returns to Greendale after a stint overseas working with Physicians Without Frontiers - unaware that his fiancé has been taken over by the demoness Madam Satan." Oh dear...
Finally, Jedidiah Goodacre signs on in the more mythical role of Dorian Gray. A warlock and the owner of exclusive nightclub Dorian’s Gray Room, this "enigmatic gentleman of an indeterminate age is very good at keeping secrets, especially his own - a cursed portrait he hides from prying eyes," reads the character description. Of these three casting announcements both Denisof and Goodacre are described as "recurring guest stars" hinting that they'll be a part of the Chilling Adventures of Sabrina season 2 cast too.
Chilling Adventures of Sabrina season 2 episodes
Just like the first season there’ll be ten Chilling Adventures of Sabrina season 2 episodes to sink your teeth into once the second season finally hits Netflix. While this is generally a lot less than most American TV shows - not to mention Netflix’s own slightly bloated Marvel series - fans will no doubt be pleased with the number of Chilling Adventures of Sabrina season 2 episodes, not least, because the first season was so well balanced. What the Chilling Adventures of Sabrina season 2 episodes will be called will also give us some hints as to what to expect from the second season, but, knowing this, it will be a while before Netflix clues us in on the Chilling Adventures of Sabrina season 2 episode titles.
Chilling Adventures of Sabrina season 2 plot
What will Chilling Adventures of Sabrina season 2 be about? This is the BIG question fans will be wondering after seeing the first season. Has Sabrina abandoned Baxter High and her friends for good? Is she even more powerful than she was before? And seriously, what does the Devil want with her - because it’s obviously nothing good! We’ve discuss all this and more in our endings feature (which I’ve linked to in the intro above), but the biggest hint we have yet as to what’s in store for Chilling Adventures of Sabrina season 2 comes from Sabrina herself.
Shipka spoke to BloodyDisgusting just before the first season aired and she had this to say: “We went straight into the second season from the first and it’s been really so exceptionally fun to film, especially given the fact that I feel like we’re already in such a rhythm from coming out of the first season that to jump right into the second one was really, really fun and just a great opportunity to keep the momentum going. Sabrina definitely changes and shifts a lot. Her growth is very evident and the second season definitely has a different spin on it than the first season. They’re very different from each other.”
Considering the first season of Chilling Adventures feels very different from anything else on television right now, the fact that the second season seems to mix things up even more is intriguing. But that’s not all Shipka had to say… “I would just say that, without giving too much away, because it would be a bit of a spoiler, the way that Sabrina’s life takes certain turns and certain decisions she makes inform the second season,” she added. “The finale of the first season sets up a lot. It goes in a different direction. We see more different characters. It deals with a different side of things.”
If you’ve finished Chilling Adventures - and you really should have if you’ve already read this far - it’s clear what Shipka is hinting at. Her comments seem to suggest that Sabrina will be staying at the Academy of Unseen Arts with her new witchy friends for the majority of season 2 and meeting new magical-inclined characters. While that’s no bad thing - some of the best moments of the first season come when magic is at play - what about poor Harvey, Ros, and Susie? Will they ever see their beloved Brina again?
