Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare
Explosive trailer blows the lid on series' new setting
Tired of killing Nazis? It seems that insurgents have usurped the Germans as the opponent of choice in Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare. Moving away from the franchise's traditional World War settings, the first trailer features a variety a scenarios ranging from the cabin of a commercial airplane to the streets of what looks like a Middle Eastern city.
Publisher Activision doesn't win any points for originality with the game's subtitle and new present day setting, seeing as how competitor, Electronic Arts released Battlefield 2: Modern Combat last year. Nevertheless, we think it's the right move to ensure that Call of Duty 4 won't be too derivative of its predecessors, and we're looking forward to getting our hands on a military shooter that doesn't feature the Normandy landings.
The Call of Duty series has a strong record for upping the ante in terms of graphics and gameplay with every new release. If you're ready to be shocked and awed by a bombardment of quick cuts and flashy explosions, click on the movies tab above or scroll down to feast your eyes on the new trailer below. The trailer's fast-paced editing makes it tough to drink in all the glorious details, so be sure to check out the images tab for a closer look. Also, an extended version of this trailer is currently availablehere. Expect more details as the game's release draws nearer, and expect to read about it here.
