Bayonetta dev's next game is Max Anarchy

Platinum Games has announced its new game, Max Anarchy, in this week's Famitsu, and producer Atsushi Inaba sat down to dish out first details on the upcoming 360/PS3 action title.

Described as an “online combat game,” Inaba says that the game will let large numbers of players fight in close combat melees. From the description it sounds like an online character action game. Bayonetta meets FPSdeathmatch modes?

Possible events in the game range from co-op to free-for-all fighting. The game will also include a single-player story mode. Inaba didn't elaborate on the story too much, but he did say that Jack from the company's Wii title MadWorld will be playable, though the fiction of the two games isn't related at all.

Once someone describes an online melee action game it's hard not to wonder why no one has made one like this before. It seems rather obvious. Inaba told Famitsu that tech and synchronization problems have held the genre back for years.

No details on release date were given. Since the interview was just a small piece of a larger feature on Platinum, we're willing to bet that we won't see this game until sometime next year, at the earliest.

As Jack will be playable in the game, now seems like as good a time as any to remind you all about MadWorld... both of them:
