Longstanding Raw watchers know WWE’s ‘Four Horsewomen’ crew as Charlotte, Becky Lynch, Sasha Banks and Bayley – but there’s an MMA quartet who call themselves by the same moniker, all of whom are now contracted to WWE. Ronda Rousey and Shayna Baszler have already claimed gold on Raw and NXT respectively, and stablemates Duke and Shafir look set for a similarly dominant future.

Shelton Benjamin

A three-time Intercontinental Champion and two-time tag-champ, Benjamin is a strong hand in the real ring – and just as accomplished in the digital equivalent. He holds the Guinness World Record for the most THQ Superstar Challenge wins, where WWE grapplers would face off in a videogame tournament.

Sting

We've come a long way since Sting was one of the major players in the dreadful TNA Impact videogame alongside AJ Styles, Kurt Angle and Samoa Joe. Retired from in-ring competition since a 2015 match with Seth Rollins, this will nonetheless mark his sixth consecutive 2K roster appearance.

Steve Austin

Like John Cena, the man known as Stone Cold should still be going strong when WWE 2K35 rolls around – so long as past flare-ups, such as the 2002 incident where Austin quit without warning, don't re-emerge. Long retired, for now the Rattlesnake seems highly content with his current-day ambassadorial role.

Tamina

A name of particular interest to lapsed 1980s fans: Tamina is the daughter of groundbreaking high flyer Jimmy 'Superfly' Snuka. She's had a quiet year in WWE, but did briefly capture the 24/7 Championship in October - only to lose it again on the same night.

After spending much of the PS4/Xbox One generation as a manager-only NPC, 2K finally restored the Million Dollar Man to playable status last year. What we need next is Money Inc tag partner Irwin R Schyster, but there's no place for 'IRS' this year.

Tommaso Ciampa

He's back! Staggeringly, Ciampa was omitted from WWE 2K19 despite being the reigning NXT Champion when its roster was announced – a monstrous PR gaffe which provoked a thunderous backlash. There was never any chance of that mistake being made again.

Toni Storm

NXT UK's influence on the 2K series grows again this year, with Storm and (most likely) Trent Seven joining Pete Dunne, Tyler Bate and Noam Dar from the class of WWE 2K19. The NXT UK women's champ is actually Australian, but nonetheless proven an instant hit on British shores.

Ultimate Warrior

Just two entries remaining with Warrior confirmed - and it's bad news for The Ascension and The Colons, who miss out despite being contracted to WWE and on the main roster. As mentioned earlier, Aiden English and Jason Jordan surprisingly summer the same WWE 2K20 fate.

Velveteen Dream

The WWE 2K20 trailer released in August featured a collection of established and/or legendary stars of the squared circle, with one exception: NXT upstart Velveteen Dream. Styled on rock star Prince by way of some grap favourites from the '90s, his spot in the video was much deserved, and he'll go stratospheric in 2020.

X-Pac

We've already covered Chyna, Shawn Michaels and Triple H - and now the DX crew is expanded further with the return of Sean 'X-Pac' Waltman, for his first series appearance since WWE 2K16. Hands up if you'll be giving him 1-2-3 Kid ring gear on day one…

I'm GamesRadar's sports editor, and obsessed with NFL, WWE, MLB, AEW, and occasionally things that don't have a three-letter acronym – such as Chvrches, Bill Bryson, and Streets Of Rage 4. (All the Streets Of Rage games, actually.) Even after three decades I still have a soft spot for Euro Boss on the Amstrad CPC 464+.
