Will Anthony Hopkins play Alfred Hitchcock in new biopic?

Only a few days ago, news broke that Anvil! director Sacha Gervasi was lining up a movie about legendary director Alfred Hitchcock.

Well now it appears that the project may also have a leading man in the form of Anthony Hopkins.

The new project will be based on Stephen Rebello's non-fiction book Alfred Hitchcock and the Making of Psycho , with script from Black Swan 's John McLaughlin.

The book focuses on the hostility Hitch received from the studios when he decided to make pulpy horror Psycho , and looks at his relationship with his wife and longtime editor Alma Reville.

While Hopkins lacks Hitchcock's considerable 'carriage', it's hard to think of anyone better suited to the role. He was set to play the auteur in a different movie for Glee 's Ryan Murphy a few years back, before that project stalled.

Helen Mirren was attached to the role of Alma back then- will she get back on board for this project?

It sounds like it could be an absolute Oscar-magnet. If Gervasi can make this true story as engaging as he made his Anvil! doc, this could be a real treat.
