Why Red Dead's Undead Nightmare co-op is as good as Left 4 Dead or COD's Nazi Zombies

Overrun’stools of deatharen’t just more varied than the weapon set you’re given in Valve’s zombie apocalypse. They’re also insane. Like 'having an imaginary friend who’s a cowboy called Cletus' insane.

Take the holy water. In single-player, it’s merely a handy, Jebus-approved projectile you can burn zombies to decomposing ashes with. But if you survive enough waves of old timey undead Americans in co-op, it eventually morphs into a lightning strike that’ll fry any poor bugger (including your team-mates) that are unlucky enough to get stuck in its burny path.

You can also be really tactical with how you use weapons as a team. Say one of you has bait. Throw it down to attract a heaping helping of zombies to one place, then sit back and laugh when a mate throws a stick of dynamite into the unsuspecting, shuffling crowd. And that’s before we even talk about the bog standard range of pistols, rifles and semi automatic shotguns that are all brilliant fun to blow the undead to bits with.

His dulcet, eerie tones ring out every time one of you bites it, a new weapon spawns andwhenever a new wave spawns in. It’s B-Movie brilliance.

Above: Prepare to put the undead out of their misery in the least humane way possible on October 26

So yeah, turns out Undead Nightmare is kinda a big deal. Add Undead Overrun together with the story mode (which I also got to play and loved, during my hands-on), and I’d say it could well be the best value DLC Rockstar has ever released. It launches on XBL and PSN on October 26 for 800 points/$9.99, with a disc-based version, including all Red Dead’s other DLC, also setto shuffleinto shops at a later date.
