Two more authors join in the fun at the Weekender

Will the SFX Weekender ever stop growing? It just can’t stop swallowing up guests, any bigger and we’ll have to contact Guinness to let them know we have the world’s fattest convention on our hands! Until then we’re pleased to announce that two more exciting authors will be joining us in Camber Sands on 5-6 February 2010, Paul Kane and Jonathan Oliver of 2000 AD fame.

His story “Dead Time” was developed by Lionsgate for the US network show Fear Itself, while his hardback non-fiction book The Hellraiser Films and Their Legacy featured an introduction by pinhead himself Doug Bradley and was nominated for a BFS Award in 2007.

Most recently he co-edited the Hellraiser short story anthology Hellbound Hearts and published part two of his post-apocalyptic reworking of the Robin Hood legend Broken Arrow for Abaddon/Rebellion.

Jonathan Oliver

Jonathan Oliver is the editor-in-chief of Abaddon Books and Solaris, the prestigious sci-fi and fantasy imprint. He is also an author in his own right, his stories having appeared in a variety of magazines and anthologies on both sides of the Atlantic. He has an MA in Science Fiction and, for a while decided to be a stand-up comic, but for some reason decided writing books was a far easier path to choose.

The Call of Kerberos, his first novel, is available now in the UK and will be released in the States in 2010. Oliver describes his novel as “good old Sword and Sorcery with a big dollop of Lovecraftian horror”. It tells the tale of Silus, a fisherman with a destiny who is forced to go on the run when an ancient and evil race burst from the sea to claim Silus as one of their own.
