Sonnenfeld Promises Three Quirky New TV Shows
Having successfully launched the genre-defying Pushing Daisies, Barry Sonnenfeld (director of the Addams Family movies) is to executive produce three new US TV shows, one of which is a live-action, hour-long comedy about a family of superheroes called the Nelsons, which is being described as a mix between The Incredibles and The Simpsons. According to The Hollywood Reporter , "it is a metaphor of what it is like to be a supermom and overworked dad in modern times." The others shows are an adaptation of a Argentinian show called The Pretenders (which sound a bit like Hustle) and a half-hour comedy called My World and Welcome To It. "All the shows have a certain amount of tonal quirkiness to them, which is where I come in," Sonnenfeld says.
Time Traveller’s Wife Meets Bourne Identity
New Line has snapped up the rights to a time travel novel described as a cross between The Bourne Identity and The Time Traveller’s Wife. The as-yet-to-be-published The Thirteenth Hour by Richard Doetsch will be turned into a film produced by Michael De Luca, who reckons, “It has a great cinematic structure that unfolds in reverse.” According to Variety the book "follows a man accused of brutally murdering his wife who is given a chance to save her by going back in time, in one-hour increments. He puts together clues to figure out not only who killed her but why."
