Top 10 Sci-Fi Bargains Of The Week

They came from the future. At first they only watched. Arriving at key sales offers in human history. We called them “Bargain Hunters”. But in 2012 they stopped watching and started buying. Citizen complaints proved futile. Those who survived became known as “consumers”. The original SFX Team fought the “Bargain Hunters” but were quickly defeated. They were allowed to continue in a much reduced capacity. The resistance was quickly overcome.

1 BEING HUMAN COMPLETE BOXED SET

First off this week we have all the Being Human episodes so far. That’s series one to four available in a DVD box-set. If you haven’t seen the show yet this is the perfect chance to get caught up before series five arrives.

The box-set is on sale from Amazon for just £19.50 . That’s less than a fiver per series. Not bad.

2 CLAYMORE COMPLETE BOXED SET

We have big sword fighting anime action for you in this choice. Think Highlander with anime babes. All 26 episodes of Claymore can be found at Play on DVD for £8.99 .

3 THE HUNGER GAMES BOOK TRILOGY

Next we have the Hunger Games book trilogy from Suzanne Collins. The first book has already been made into a hit film with part two coming later this year. You can get all three books, The Hunger Games , Catching Fire and Mockingjay , from the Bangzo store on Play for just £6.98 . Read ’em all now and you can sit in the cinema saying “The book was much better” when the new film comes out.

4 THE THING

You can pick up John Carpenter’s brilliant original film and the 2011 remake/prequel in a double Blu-ray for £9.75 . If you’d rather have DVD then that’s available for exactly the same £9.75 price tag. You can complete your set of all things The Thing and grab the 1951 original The Thing From Another World film, also from Amazon, on DVD for just £6 . 5 TEENAGE MUTANT NINJA TURTLES T-SHIRT

Asda has this lovely charcoal TMNT shirt available both online and in-store. The shirt features Leonardo, Michelangelo, Donatello and Bob, sorry, Raphael all striking dramatic action poses and will cost you £7 from Asda Direct . Be warned there’s a £2.95 delivery charge for this item. There’s no extra for nipping into Asda and picking it up though…

We always love a bit of tat shaped like the TARDIS. Who doesn’t? This item has been in bargains before but it’s dropped down in price even further since then. It’s now available from Play for just £12.69 . The cookie jar even has cool TARDIS sound effects.

7 SONIC SCREWDRIVER UNIVERSAL REMOTE

Staying with Doctor Who , and another item we’ve featured before, we have the 11th Doctor’s Sonic Screwdriver universal remote. Originally priced at £59.99 this lovely gadget is now featured in the Firebox sale with a 40% price reduction. The screwdriver is now selling at £35.99 . With authentic lights and sound effects this gorgeous looking remote can be programmed to control TV, DVD or Blu-ray players and stereos.

8 MERLIN SERIES 5

Our pre-order of the week this week is series five of Merlin . The box-set features all 13 episodes of this the last series of the BBC’s hit sword and sorcery show. You can pick it up on Blu-ray from Sainsbury’s for £22.99 . If you’d prefer the DVD then they also have that, priced £19.99 . It’s due out on Monday.
