The Witness walkthrough & puzzle guide

Orange Trees (Shady Trees)

By the side of the lake you'll spot a forest of orange trees.

Head through to find an orange gate you can open and start the next series of panels.

Hint: Pay attention to the shadows.

Hint: Consider what is blocking the light.

Open the gate then quickly return to solve this panel. This will also open the entrance to the Quarry, but we'll return to that later.

Hint: Think about which shadows are important.

Ignore the shadows of bars for these panels.

Hint: Don't overcomplicate the solution!

At this point the wire branches out (no pun intended) in two different directions. Head left first to continue the shadowy panels.

Hint: Consider your perspective and where the light/shadows fall.

After this last panel you'll hear a gate creak open, but you're only halfway to unlocking the final panel for this area. Head back to the branching wire and follow the second strand.

Hint: The rules have have switched around.

Follow the shadows instead of avoiding them for this series of panels.

Hint: Don't overcomplicate the solution!

You'll hear another gate creak open, allowing you to tackle the final panel in this area.

Hint: Combine both sets of rules for this area.

Solving the final panel will activate the laser, unlocking the Shady Trees trophy.
