The Dark Knight returns without Holmes or the Penguin

It’s the news we’ve all been fearing. Katie Holmes is officially no longer in the Batman Begins follow-up, with producers actively seeking her replacement, according to a casting call sheet discovered by LatinoReview .

Which is obviously sad. Holmes might not have been the best thing in Begins, but she was certainly the hottest. But far worse is the casting call confirmation that The Penguin isn’t in the flick either – which means we won’t get to see Philip Seymour Hoffman waddle about making weird noises, which, frankly, saddens us. But, hey, we’ve always got Capote.

At least future Two-Face Harvey Dent’s made it in – not that Christopher Nolan and his mates have decided who they want to play him; reportedly, Matt Damon’s already turned it down, with Jamie Foxx and Edward Norton in the running to say ‘no’ next.

Producers have met with Josh Lucas for the Dent role, but we reckon that’s only because they haven’t seen Hulk or Poseidon.
