Singer May Not Direct Man of Steel

Warner Brothers has moved the release of Superman: Man of Steel from 2009 to 2010, and there's no guarantee Superman Returns Bryan Singer will be at the helm according to Variety .

The article says that the project currently has no writers on board after Return scripters Michael Dougherty and Dan Harris decided to pass on the sequel and the Writer's Strike got in the way of appointing new writers. Currently, Singer is still the appointed director on Man of Steel, though Warner Brothers demanded a rethink on where the franchise after disappointing box office for the drippy Returns - more action, less sentimentality and a super-powered villain were the stipulations for the sequel.

But, the article warns, "Superman is not on any fast track, and word is that Singer may wind up not directing it."
