SFX and Blizzard are official SCI-FI-LONDON partners

The UK's only annual festival of science fiction and fantastic film is working with SFX magazine and the makers of StarCraft

Running from 28 April to 3 May 2010 at the Apollo cinema just off Piccadilly Circus, the 2010 SCI-FI-LONDON festival is shaping up to be another corker. We're pleased to announce that Future Publishing (SFX's mothership) is working with the always-excellent event as official 2010 media partner. The premier games company Blizzard Entertainment is also on board as a sponsor.

In the deal with SCI-FI-LONDON, Future and SFX will be promoting the event and taking part to help out. We'll also be supporting the Arthur C Clarke Award, the ceremony for which traditionally takes place on SCI-FI-LONDON's opening night.

Festival Director, Louis Savy, said “We are delighted to be working with Future. They are a great supporter of the festival and this is a good relationship for us. Our audience are smart people with a range of interests and a publisher like Future can really provide the right mix of enthusiast media to promote the festival.”

Look out for a page about the event, and news from the Arthur C Clarke Award, in the next issue of SFX magazine. We'll also be blogging regularly on the festival, and publishing a con report afterwards in our Event Horizon pages.

Meanwhile, just today SCI-FI-LONDON has announced that Blizzard Entertainment will be the official games sponsor this year. The company will showcase its highly anticipated real-time strategy game, StarCraft II: Wings of Liberty.

Savy continues: "Every year we aim to bring the vanguard of global sci-fi to a dedicated audience of UK film fans. StarCraft definitely rates as one of most recognised science fiction game series in the world, and we’re delighted that StarCraft II: Wings of Liberty will be presented alongside our programme of movies and events.”
