Scorsese scores Directors Guild of America award...

Last night Martin Scorsese was finally rewarded for his directing skills by a stuffy old body of film people who’ve previously nominated him, but never given him a trinket, by taking home an award he’s been waiting years for.

No, don’t worry, you didn’t fall asleep for too long like Bruce Campbell in Army Of Darkness, missing the Oscars and your mum’s birthday – Marty’s nabbed the top feature award from the Directors Guild of America for The Departed.

Scorsese fan and fellow beard Steven Spielberg presented the award, to his relieved friend. “I just wanted to make a good film and people would go see it and enjoy the film and God willing I'd get another picture and that's it,” Martin said. “I did not think I'd be standing here tonight, I'll tell you that.”
