Sci-Fi Bargains Of The Week

In the endless reaches of the universe, there once existed a planet known as Bargainite. There came a day when giant quakes threatened to destroy Bargainite forever. One of the planet's leading scientists, sensing the approaching doom, placed his infant son in a rocket ship and sent it hurtling towards the Earth just as Bargainite exploded. The rocket ship sped through space, landing on Earth with its precious cargo: Bargainite's sole survivor. A passing SFX journalist found the child and took him in. As the years passed and the child grew up, he discovered amazing bargain-hunting powers. Cheaper than a 10p mix, lower in price than a knock-off watch, able to make huge savings in a single transaction. The infant of Bargainite is now the Man Of Bargains: Captain Coinsaver! Sworn to use his powers in a never-ending battle for the Friday SFX bargains roundup…

Some Doctor Who related tat for this week’s random ideas; we spotted this TARDIS-shaped USB hub on sale for £17.99 and a Dalek-shaped clip-on booklight for £6.56 . Finally this week we’re going mention the dreaded C word. Christmas! We know, we know! It’s ages away, but we thought we’d tell you about the 2012 Lego Star Wars advent calendar . We remember how popular this was last year so we thought we’d give you a heads up. Once again you can spend December avoiding chocolate and getting a little toy each morning in the run up to Christmas. The Lego store has it for £24.99 , Amazon for the slightly cheaper £23.99 and most other places online are selling it for similar prices.
