Sci-Fi Bargains Of The Week

Hello and welcome to this week’s SFX bargains round-up. It's slightly truncated this week - think of it as more of a top 10 bargains which caught our eye type of thing...

Next up we have the ever popular Alien Anthology boxed set. The set contains Alien, Aliens, Alien3 and Alien Resurrection and a plethora of extras as well. You even get both theatrical and director’s cut versions of each film. This Alien Anthology box can be yours on Blu-ray for just £8.99 .

We also spotted this Big Bang Theory DVD boxed set featuring season one to four of the hit geeky US comedy. It’s available from Amazon for £18.99 . That’s less than a fiver per season, not bad.

Universal have a range of new “Augmented Reality” film releases celebrating their 100th anniversary. The augmented bit has something to do with an app you can download to your phone which gives you access to some extra features; the films all have swanky new covers too. Included in the range are Peter Jackson’s King Kong , Pegg and Frost in both Paul and Shaun of the Dead, Jurassic Park, Apollo 13, Jaws and the classic 1931 Dracula . There are a total of 15 films (not all sci-fi) in the range and all are available on both the DVD and Blu-ray format. Amazon have the entire range on Blu-ray for £7.97 and on DVD for £5.97 . Although Asda, Tesco and HMV are selling the DVDs for £5 each and the Blu-rays for £7 each, so it’s probably worth shopping about a little.

Another TV boxed set for you next; Summer Glau and Lena Heady in The Terminator - The Sarah Connor Chronicles . Season one is available on DVD for £6.81 and on Blu-ray for the very cheap price of £6.49 . Season two is also available; the Blu-ray can be yours for £7.99 . Surprisingly the season two DVD is a little more expensive at £12.78 . But we did see a boxed set including both seasons on DVD for £17.99 which could save you a couple of pounds.

Suggestions from the forum this week include Radical Edward with this Pirates of the Caribbean four film boxed set on Blu-ray for £22.97.

We had a suggestion from Silver Fox 67 this week which took us all right back to Saturday mornings in front of the telly in our PJs. The classic Japanese puppet show Star Fleet X Bomber: The Complete Series is available on DVD for just £9.95.

Runalong also found Supernatural seasons one to six on Blu-ray for £62.57 . The set is also available on DVD for £34.99 .

Finally from the forum Buffster brought news that SFX ’s favourite American TV show Fringe is available in a three season boxed set for just £19.99 on DVD . You can also pick the set up on Blu-ray for £34.99 if you prefer the extra shiny high def experience.

Random suggestion for this week is Game of Thrones related. Over the last few weeks we’ve brought you various bits of Game of Thrones tie in products which are due to be released next month. This week we’ve decided to just link through to Play’s page of Game of Thrones related items. There’s all sorts; from fridge magnets to drinking mugs and maps of Westeros to a replica of the Hand of the King’s badge. Most of the stuff on the page is under £6 and there should be something for every Thronophile out there. Do we have a collective name for Game of Thrones fans yet? Will Thronophile do?

..

Finally this week Forbidden Planet have a sale on a whole range of Star Trek: The Next Generation books most of them are just 99p each. Check it out, you might find a book for you.

As ever, if you find anything we’ve brought you this week cheaper somewhere else please mention it in the comments section below. And remember; if you spot a sci-fi bargain you want to share then please click through to our forum and mention it in the relevant thread: this thread is for bargain films and this one is for TV bargains and finally this thread is for any random bargain you might find! Keep your eyes peeled for great sci-fi offers and maybe your find will be in the bargain list next time...
