Goosebumps author R.L. Stine already has one movie based on one of his novels in the works , and now the one and only Sam Raimi has been knocking on his door looking for another.
Raimi, who is set to get busy himself soon directing Oz: The Great And Powerful, has snapped up the rights to Stine’s 2003 horror novel The Sitter .
Being retitled The Au Pair (is that more en vogue these days? Maybe they’re concerned the movie will get confused with 1991 made-for-TV movie The Sitter , about “the female urge to torture young children”), Dana Stevens will write the script adaptation, having paired with Raimi previously in 2003 with For The Love Of The Game.
The plot follows a young woman who takes a summer job as a nanny at a posh Hamptons house, only to discover dark secrets – and has to contend with a four-year-old who seems to be Satan’s spawn.
Though it's doubtful Raimi will direct, his tried and true horror hand should act as a sure guide for whoever is picked to get behind the camera.
