Plot: Steve Carell ditches the comedy in favour of a prosthetic nose in this true-life drama. He plays John Du Pont, the American millionaire who was convicted in 1997 of murdering his friend Dave Schultz, the Olympic wrestler. With director Bennett Miller calling the shots (after directing Brad Pitt and Jonah Hill to Oscar nominations with Moneyball ), this looks set to be a hard-hitting drama destined for Academy glory.

Based on Laura Hillenbrand's best-selling book, Unbroken follows Olympic runner Louis Zamperini ( Skins ’ Jack O’Connell) who is captured by Japanese forces during World War II. Jolie will shoot the film on location in Australia.

Plot: Comics legend Mark Millar oversees the reinvention of one of Marvel's few modern cinematic outings to date, which bodes well for a franchise that - while doing well enough to garner a sequel - never really set the box office alight. Presumably, it's be another origin redux, following the escapades of genius scientist Reed Richards, his lover Sue Storm, her boisterous brother Johnny Storm and Reed's friend Benjamin Grimm, as they embark on a trial spaceflight. Unfortunately, it doesn't go too well - meaning they all return to earth with a few added superpowers including invisibility, super-stretchiness, pyrokinesis and a rock-hard monstrous exterior.

The plot will be written by Whedon again, so expect zingers aplenty - but this time the threat looks to be more robotic, as James Spader is definitely on board to voice one of their most dangerous comic book foes - the artificial intelligence, super bad-ass robot Ultron.
