Last minute videogame costumes

Tony Stark - Iron Man

Above: Okay, we realize this is kind of cheating since Gary already has the facial hair, but this "costume" is too easy not to post

What you'll need:
- round tap light (usually found where lightbulbs are sold)
- batteries
- belt
- heavy duty tape
- printer
- arc reactor template (PDF file)
- scissors
- black or grey t-shirt
- sunglasses

Print out the arc reactor template and glue it down to another piece of paper to make it more opaque. We used black construction paper, but anything will work. Cut the template out after the glue dries.

Above: Tap lights come in a variety of sizes and shapes depending on how big you want your arc reactor to be

Above: Don't worry if it looks messy, no one's going to see this part of your costume

Above: We taped our arc reactor to a belt that was worn diagonally over one shoulder underneath a t-shirt

Above: You guys have Link's sword and shield already, right? Right?!

What you'll need:
- green t-shirt (Carolyn is 5'8" and we used an XXL shirt for her)
- white long-sleeved shirt
- white leggings or long johns
- 2 brown belts
- brown boots
- scissors
- stapler
- official replica Link sword*
- official replica Link shield*

Last Minute Link has some leeway room to its design. Feel free to don your Link tunic over a pair of jeans and brown shoes and tell people you're Casual Link and need the pockets to hold all your rupees. Or, buy a pair of white sweatpants and brown slippers for a Lounge Link version. The possibilities are endless.

Above: The orange lines indicate where you're going to cut your shirt

Above: Save one of the cut sleeves and turn it inside out. This will become your hat

Above: Staple the cut side of the sleeve together and flip your new hat right side out

Above: You may need to pull the extra fabric of your Link tunic to the back so that it doesn't bunch up in the front when belted

* sword and shield are optional

But, GamesRadar, I don't like Iron Man or Link! Fine, try your hand at one of these ideas instead:

Sims character: Use a headband and cut out a green diamond for above your head (you can use a similar technique as the Animal Crossing Floating Present), wear a ridiculous outfit pulled from your closet, speak in gibberish.

N64 Goldeneye character: Put on your best suit, get a toy gun and wear a stocking over your entire face. Congratulations, you now look like a Nintendo 64 character.

Portal: Draw a blue circle on one side of a t-shirt and an orange one on the other. Print out and assemble the Companion Cube papercraft twice and stick one on the front of your shirt and the second on your back. You're now costuming with portals.

We hope some of the ideas we presented sparked some creativity for Halloween this year. Did you use any of our ideas? Want to show of your videogame costume from this year? Link to a picture in the comments and you may win a prize!
