Metroid Prime 2: Echoes (Gamecube, 2004)
The Metroid series has always had good music and this example is possibly the best. Who'd have thought that pinched harmonics on heavily distorted electric guitar could sound so calm simply by burying it under synthesizers? The melody is haunting too and although it's not the sort of thing you'd stick on at a party, it would probably work well as one of those 'calming' tapes some people put on before they sleep. Imagine the weird dreams that would bring...
