The Fortnite map changes introduced for the current season may not be as substantial as those for the start of a new chapter or the OG event, but there are still some interesting additions to take note of. These are in keeping with the Myths & Mortals theme for Season 2, so expect to see Ancient Greek architecture and mythological settings appear in Fortnite. There's also an exciting addition of underground bunkers, after years of teases and unexplained hatches appearing around the island. If you want to get up to speed, then here are the major Fortnite map changes in Season 2 of Chapter 5.

As you can see from the full Fortnite map above, not much has changed since the previous season and a lot of the existing points of interest remain intact. The two biggest changes are to the northwest and southeast, where the landscape has been updated in keeping with the Myths & Mortals theme of Season 2. This has involved expanding the island somewhat to incorporate the new Underworld area, while some of the snow has thawed to reveal a much brighter area underneath.

The Underworld and Grim Gate

To the northwest of the Fortnite map, the island has descended into the Underworld and taken on a dark appearance. If you touch the green 'water' in this area then you'll gain three Underworld Dash charges, which you can use to quickly zoom a short distance. Two of the Olympic legends are here – Hades in The Underworld and Cerberus in Grim Gate – and if you summon then defeat either of them you can gain a Fortnite Aspect of the Gods.

Mount Olympus and Brawler's Battleground

In the southeast of the Fortnite map, the snow has thawed and revealed a much sunnier area full of Ancient Greek buildings and statues. There are another two Olympic legends here – Zeus in Mount Olympus and Ares in Brawler's Battleground – who again can be fought and defeated to gain their Aspect.

Restored Reels

As the name suggests, Ruined Reels at the center of the Fortnite map has now been fixed up, so you can now enjoy Restored Reels in all of it's amphitheater glory. If you look nearby, you can also see the remains of the Titan arm and Pandora's Box in the river, which emerged during the last Fortnite live event at the end of Season 1. You'll need to head here to complete the Fortnite Test of Agility as part of the Snapshot quests, and it is likely to feature more as the current season rolls on.

Other Fortnite map changes

There are several other new features around the Fortnite map for this season, which you should track down and investigate. There are a number of Fortnite Scrying Pools across the island, which you can interact with to speak with the gods and will help you progress through the Snapshot storyline quests. There are also plenty of Fortnite Weapons Bunkers that will only open a few storm circles into each match, which contain high-level weapons and a Fortnite Weapon Mods bench to make further improvements to your guns.
