Spider-Man: Brand New Day hits theaters in less than a week, but that didn't stop Kevin Feige and Punisher star Jon Bernthal from taking to the famed Hall H stage at San Diego Comic-Con to debut a new clip from the movie.

The Comic-Con exclusive clip was introduced by Bernthal, the only Brand New Day cast member to appear on the panel. After a gently amusing, only slightly awkward bit of pre-rehearsed banter between Bernthal and Feige, the clip revealed a Punisher-centric moment in the movie.

In the clip, Spidey and the Hulk are going toe-to-toe when Punisher enters, repeatedly shooting Hulk in the head with an automatic rifle, but the bullets simply bounce off big Green's head. Spidey tosses a web grenade at Hulk, and the professor is briefly suspended in the air by it.

"What are you doing here?" asks an irate Spidey. "What do you think I'm doing here? Saving your ass" replies The Punisher. "This is way above your pay grade," adds Spidey. All of a sudden, the Hulk breaks free and jumps towards them. Spidey, thinking quick attaches a web to Frank and slides him under Hulk. Frank tosses Hulk a bomb. "Really?" asks Professor Hulk. Frank shoots the bomb, exploding it and knocking Hulk back.

Frank and Peter take cover, and Peter learns that someone has sent Frank, "She tells me I gotta come watch you," Frank says. "Did she actually say that to you?" asks Peter. "Are you blushing, daffodil?" says Frank. The footage ends with Spidey attempting to get an inhibitor device back on the Hulk, and Frank doesn't want any part of it. "Are you just trying to get out of fight the Hulk," asks Spidey. "I gues so," says The Punisher.

Somehow, we still don't know who Sadie Sink is playing, but Holland recently claimed she isn't playing Jean Grey.

More Avengers: Doomsday footage has been shown at Marvel's Hall H panel during this year's San Diego Comic-Con.

Those worried about the lack of Fantastic Four connection to Doctor Doom can rest easy. The behind-closed-door teaser, which GamesRadar+ was in attendance for, features Vanessa Kirby's Sue Storm narrating.

Opening with a lingering shot of Doom sitting on his throne, Sue Storm narrates the roughly two minutes of footage. "Victor was always the smartest guy in every room. He used to be different. Used to be kind. Used to be caring. Everything he loved was taken from him. I knew he was lost, but I did not realise that he was broken."

She's speaking to a room of assembled Marvel heroes and mutants, including Shang-Chi, Gambit, the Thunderbolts, Thor and more. Magneto, Professor X and Steve Rogers are also seen in glimpses. As Sue speaks, we see Doom looking up longingly at the image of his wife and child featured on the Doomsday poster.

Cut to a distressed-looking Reed Richards who asks Victor, "Did you do this?" Quick cuts reveal new images of Johnny Storm holding Franklin close in a bright environment, Steve Rogers cradling his baby, Shuri in Wakanda, Thor looking at his daughter Love, Cyclops looking battle-worn, and more.

Cyptically, Doom says: "All of you have lived stolen lives and now you must give them back."

Suddenly, something flies out of a window at the top of a towering building. It's Doom, who lands with impact. "Did you do this?" asks Reed again, shouting now, looking up at Victor. Thor enters the fray "I swear you will beg for hell long before I grant it." He jumps, but as in the film's first trailer, Doom blocks the axe with two fingers, and easily bats it away with magic, blasting Thor back in the process.

The footage ends with Doom placing his hand on the ground and resurrecting a number of broken Sentinels. "Hell answers to me. For I am Doom."

Our next real taste of Avengers: Doomsday will likely be as part of Avengers: Endgame Encore, the re-release of Marvel's greatest cinematic success, this September. Director the Russos have already promised fresh footage which will narratively bridge the gap between Endgame and Doomsday.

That wasn't all from Marvel. Black Panther 3 has been announced for December 15, 2028, with David Jonsson playing T'Challa's son in the threequel.

Ghost Rider, starring Ryan Gosling, is also slated post-Secret Wars in 2028. Deadpool and Wolverine's Shawn Levy will helm the project.

At the San Diego Comic-Con 2026 panel, Marvel Studios revealed some new details about Black Panther 3.

Kevin Feige officially confirmed that Ryan Coogler, fresh off his Oscar win, will direct, and the film is set for a December 15, 2028 release.

Most crucially of all, however, is the news that a new Black Panther has been cast. The Long Walk's David Jonsson will be taking up the mantle, playing the character of T'Challa's son, who was introduced in the Wakanda Forever post-credits scene. It's not quite clear how that works out on the Marvel timeline, considering T'Challa II was a young child when we met him. However, Coogler did sort of acknowledge this on stage. "In this next film, he grows up, comes of age, and we had to find an incredible actor," he shared.

"I want to say thank you so much," Jonsson told the crowd. "Thank you, Ryan. Thank you, Kevin. Thank you to this amazing family that I have the honor and the privilege of blessing to join. I actually don't want to say too much because I want to let this screen do the talking. But believe me, the honor is entirely mine. Thank you."

Black Panther 3 has been in development for some time, following on from the success of Black Panther 2 back in 2022. Denzel Washington was long rumored to be part of the cast after he revealed that Coogler had written a role specifically for him.

"Ryan Coogler is writing a part for me in the next Black Panther," Washington told TODAY during the Gladiator 2 press tour. He then listed off roles as Othello, Hannibal, in a mystery film with Steve McQueen, and King Lear before concluding: "After that, I'm going to retire."

We won't be waiting too long to see the Black Panther cast either as they are confirmed to be a part of Avengers: Doomsday. The Wakandans appeared in an early teaser and again as part of the main recently released trailer. It's not clear at the moment what role they'll play in the upcoming film, but new Black Panther Shuri, M'Baku, and Namor will all be involved.

His job is bike. In a shock SDCC announcement, Marvel Studios has announced that Barbie and Project Hail Mary star Ryan Gosling is joining the MCU as Ghost Rider.

During Marvel's Hall H panel, Kevin Feige brought Gosling out to announce a standalone 2028 movie with Deadpool and Wolverine's Shawn Levy on-board to direct. Levy also helmed the upcoming Star Wars: Starfighter, also starring Gosling.

First debuting in the pages of 1972's Marvel Spotlight, Ghost Rider has been the moniker given to several heroes who have become the flame-spewing Spirit of Vengeance. He has been played on-screen by Nicolas Cage in two live-action movies and by Gabriel Luna in Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.

Gosling had done little in the past to pump the brakes on speculation surrounding a Marvel superhero role.

"Some discussions have been had. It’s a complicated situation," Gosling said on Happy Sad Confused earlier this year. Previously, he had shut down reports that he was attached to a Nova project, instead suggesting that he wanted to play the chain-wielding, hellish Ghost Rider in the MCU. A separate Nova movie is in the works, however.

Next up in the MCU is Spider-Man: Brand New Day, which sees Tom Holland's wallcrawler team up with Jon Bernthal's Punisher to take down an unknowable threat. It may or may not be Sadie Sink's mystery character, who is largely thought to be X-Men's Jean Grey.

Then, Avengers: Doomsday arrives this December. A first trailer was released earlier this month, though fans are split on Robert Downey Jr.'s Doctor Doom voice.

Spider-Man: Brand New Day won't include Daredevil's Claire Temple after Rosario Dawson confirms her character's scenes were cut.

Speaking at GalaxyCon, Dawson said she "shot a scene" for Brand New Day but it "got cut out."

One attendee said there was a "collective gasp of excitement" at the reveal, followed quickly by "a collective groan" when it dawned on fans that Temple – a nurse operating in New York who finds herself in close proximity to many Marvel street-level heroes – wouldn't be appearing in the fourth Spider-Man MCU movie.

Claire Temple, though, wasn't just Matt Murdock's healer and confidant in Daredevil. Rosario's healthcare worker also became the connective tissue between all of Netflix's Marvel projects, going on to make an appearance in Jessica Jones, Luke Cage, Iron Fist, and, ultimately, The Defenders.

Despite Dawson's absence from the project, Spider-Man: Brand New Day at least brings Jon Bernthal's Punisher onto the big screen. There has been plenty of speculation about Daredevil arriving, not least of all because of The Hand's presence, a curiously-edited trailer shot, and a prison-set scene in the wake of Daredevil: Born Again season 2's ending.

Those disappointed not to see Dawson reprise one franchise role can rest assured that she's still in a galaxy far, far away as lead of Ahsoka season 2 – which is expected to release next year on Disney Plus.

The Marvel panel at San Diego Comic-Con 2026 featured a whole host of big surprises. Marking the studio's return to Hall H for the first time since 2024, the main focus was on upcoming movies. Marvel boss Kevin Feige took us through some of the major upcoming slate, announcing a Ghost Rider movie with Ryan Gosling and giving some big updates on Black Panther 3.

Avengers: Doomsday was the main focus though, and was given the most time. Attendees in Hall H were treated to some exclusive footage as we edge closer to the end of the Multiverse Saga. Not all of Marvel's upcoming slate was covered though with VisionQuest mentioned only briefly and Avengers: Secret Wars and the upcoming X-Men movie not getting a look in.

Below we get into all of the major announcements from Hall H, as they happened at the SDCC 2026 Marvel panel.

How to watch the Marvel SDCC 2026 panel

As we get closer to the panel's start, you'll likely be wondering how you can watch the Marvel SDCC 2026 panel. The short answer is, you can't. San Diego Comic-Con doesn't livestream their panels so you have to be in the room to be able to watch it as it happens.

Luckily for you, GamesRadar+ is in Hall H and we'll be keeping you updated every step of the way. Follow along here, as well as on our social media (Twitter, Facebook, Instagram, and TikTok) so you don't miss a moment.

Just a reminder too about timings: the panel begins at 5.30pm PDT. If you're on the east coast then that's 9.30pm and if you're in the UK then that's 1.30am. We expect it will last about an hour or so, depending on what's announced.

In terms of what we're expecting to be covered tonight in the Marvel panel, we don't yet have anything confirmed. Marvel has released no guests, no agenda, and Kevin Feige has been keeping tight-lipped. Speaking to Collider just last week, the Marvel Studios head said: "Listen, you probably know as good a tease as I do in terms of the fact that when we go to Hall H, it's for a reason, and it's to have some surprises and show a few things. It's our home away from home, Hall H, so I'm very excited to be heading back."

One thing we are expecting to have a big presence at SDCC this year is Avengers: Doomsday. If you'd asked us a week ago, we would have put good money that it would be in this panel when we'd finally see the full trailer. However, Marvel actually dropped that on Monday (read our Avengers: Doomsday trailer breakdown here)...

This means we're not expecting to see any more footage released widely, but that doesn't mean no news. The Russo Brothers will likely be there with Robert Downey Jr. and we might even get a scene shown exclusively in Hall H, which we'll share a description of with you.

Doomsday has already been appearing all around SDCC too, with new costumes being showcased and a special installation in the middle of town. Check out a closer look at Doctor Doom's costume below.

Avengers: Secret Wars is also about a year and a half out too – and we still know relatively little about it. We're not expecting to hear too much about the plot details given they're likely very dependent on what goes down in Doomsday, but we could hear some casting news. At the moment, Doomsday has a few big omissions, including Spider-Man, Doctor Strange, and the Hulk. Could we get confirmation about their return?

What happened the last time Marvel were at San Diego Comic-Con?

It's been a few years since Marvel Studios has been at SDCC, but the last time they made quite an impact. After Deadpool & Wolverine got its own showcase on Friday night, Saturday night belonged to Marvel Studios' upcoming slate. The biggest surprise of the evening was the announcement that Robert Downey Jr. was returning to the MCU, not as Iron Man but as a new character: Doctor Doom.

He appeared on stage in a Doom mask to mark the occasion and subsequently surprised just about everyone. We were in Hall H when it happened and the atmosphere was electric. Here's a little recap of how that all went down…

Traditionally these Marvel panels have also focused on the upcoming slate. This means that VisionQuest, which is the conclusion to the WandaVision trilogy could also be a focus during the presentation. We've still not seen a trailer for the upcoming Disney Plus show, despite it showing behind closed doors at CinemaCon earlier this year. It's out on October 14 too so we're more than overdue a first look...

Another potential point of focus could be Daredevil: Born Again season 3. While it might not seem like the most exciting announcement for the Hall H slot, timing might be in its favor. The third season of the Disney Plus show has just finished filming and there have been a lot of leaks. Marvel might use the opportunity to announce some of the casting we already know about officially and there may even be some footage. We'll bring you updates as they happen with that.

Probably the most exciting potential announcements will be around the upcoming X-Men movie. Kevin Feige has made no secret that the next stage of the MCU will be all about mutants and director Jake Shrier is behind an upcoming reboot film. Currently, we don't know much at all about it, apart from that it won't be linked to any of the X-Men movies we've seen before. Screenwriter Lee Sung Jin told Deadline earlier this year that Feige "just wants to take a big swing and start anew, not be beholden to any of the movies that have come before."

Given that it's going to be so key to the future of the MCU, we might get some casting announcements. Rumors have been swirling around everyone from Adam Driver to Bill Skarsgård, and then there's the persistent speculation that Sadie Sink will debut as Jean Grey in Spider-Man: Brand New Day. Watch this space...

30 minutes to go!

We're now just 30 minutes away from the start of the Marvel panel at San Diego Comic-Con 2026! GamesRadar+ is seated in Hall H and ready to bring you the news as it happens.

Just a reminder on timings. The panel kicks off at 5.30pm PDT, local time. This means it starts at 8.30pm EDT and 1.30am BST. We're expecting it to last about an hour as Marvel tends to keep a pretty tight ship with their SDCC appearances.

We're seated in Hall H now ahead of the panel's start in 15 minutes, but the panel before is currently still happening. Just a reminder too, the Marvel SDCC 2026 panel will not be live-streamed. Follow along with us here for everything that happens as well as on our Twitter.

The Marvel Studios panel is almost certainly starting late as the panel before is still overrunning. There's no word yet on when it will begin but we're expecting a quick change around when the previous panel stops.

Almost 30 minutes later, the Marvel 2026 panel has begun. Kevin Feige is now on stage to kick off the announcements. He's wearing a Doomsday hat...

Kevin Feige has announced that they'll only be showcasing movies at the panel today. So no VisionQuest or Daredevil: Born Again then...

Avengers: Endgame Encore

First up on the agenda is Avengers: Endgame Encore, which will be heading to theaters on September 25, 2026. Hall H was treated to a trailer for the rerelease as it was confirmed it will feature an exclusive look at Doomsday.

Ryan Gosling will play Ghost Rider in the MCU

Some big news to kick off the Marvel panel. Ryan Gosling will play Ghost Rider in the MCU in a new movie directed by Shawn Levy. Gosling is on stage now.

The movie will come out in 2028, just a year after Gosling and Levy's Star Wars movie, Starfighter. This will also mark Levy's MCU comeback after directing Deadpool & Wolverine.

Here's a look at Gosling on stage, who seems just as surprised as we are by the news.

Spider-Man: Brand New Day

We may be just a week out from the release of Spider-Man: Brand New Day but that doesn't mean we can't still have new footage. Punisher star Jon Bernthal is on stage to introduce a new clip from the Marvel movie, featuring Spider-Man fighting the Hulk.

Avengers: Doomsday

The Russo brothers are now taking the Hall H stage to share some news from the upcoming release of Avengers: Doomsday. They've also brought out some of the cast of the new movie.

"Two years ago, we asked you to trust us when we tasked RDJ with doing a 180 from going from playing the greatest hero of all time to playing the greatest doll, and we knew we were going to have to assemble the greatest hero of the past ever to try to stop him," they told the crowd. "You'll see on December 18th, whether it can or not."

Robert Downey Jr. is now on stage and he's taking a selfie with all everyone dressed up as Doom in Hall H.

That's not all either. It's been confirmed that Hayley Atwell will be returning as Peggy Carter in Doomsday, opposite Chris Evans' Steve Rogers.

Ryan Reynolds has appeared in Hall H as Deadpool, but not the one we know and love. This version of the character is blue/grey... Maybe we'll find out soon why Thor was crying? Reynolds asks the cast and Paul Rudd replies: "He’s a Wrexham fan". Ouch...

It's not yet clear if he'll be in Doomsday though.

Pedro Pascal has also confirmed that Reed Richards and Victor Von Doom have history in Doomsday...

Hall H is now being treated to some exclusive footage from Avengers: Doomsday. This shows the rivalry between Doom and Richards in a clip narrated by Sue Storm. "Victor did you do this?" Reed asks him. "All of you have lived stolen lives and now you must give them back," Doom responds. Elsewhere we hear Sue say, "I knew he was lost, I didn’t realise he was broken." The footage ends with Doom bringing an army of Sentinels back to life.

Black Panther 3

Up next is Black Panther 3, which will be released in theaters on December 15, 2028. Check out the official logo below.

The new Black Panther has also been revealed. He'll be played by Alien: Romulus star David Jonsson, who is the son of T’Challa now grown up. Jonsson appeared on stage with the announcement.

"I want to say thank you so much," Jonsson told the crowd. "Thank you, Ryan. Thank you, Kevin. Thank you to this amazing family that I have the honor and the privilege of blessing to join. I actually don't want to say too much because I want to let this screen do the talking. But believe me, the honor is entirely mine. Thank you."

And that's it! No X-Men after all... and no reveals from Secret Wars.

Still, plenty of big announcements from the Marvel SDCC 2026 panel, including the introduction of Ryan Gosling to the MCU and the casting of David Jonsson in Black Panther 3.

San Diego Comic-Con 2026 has brought plenty of surprises thus far... and Marvel seems to be using it to hide some pretty big plot details about Avengers: Doomsday in plain sight.

Several Doomsday costumes have been on a rotating display at the Marvel Studios booth ahead of their big panel in Hall H. The first saw three separate "Latverian witch" costumes... each with its own separate color. But before we get into that, we have to talk about the symbols on the new Doctor Doom costume that Marvel has put on display.

In the photo, which can be viewed below, Doctor Doom's costume has two distinct symbols on either shoulder. And no, your eyes aren't deceiving you: On the right, we see Thor's hammer etched into a gold circle. On the left, we see the symbol for none other than Captain Marvel. Uh, what?

Brie Larson was absent from the big Avengers: Doomsday live-streamed casting, but hasn't confirmed nor denied that she'll be featured in the upcoming pic. We've seen Thor fight Doom in the Doomsday trailers, but Captain Marvel has been completely MIA.

As for those color-changing Latverian witch costumes, fans think they're pointing to the return of Wanda Maximoff. The first costume, which you can see below, was green. Then it was replaced with an orange costume, followed by a purple costume, before they eventually brought out Doctor Doom's costume. It's worth noting that there are no "Latverian witches" in the comics. There is, however, a storyline where Doctor Doom kidnaps Wanda and manipulates her into working for him. The colors also may or may not represent the Infinity Stones... remember those?

If Marvel is indeed following the Hickman Avengers storyline, then the Infinity Stones do play a major part... especially when it comes to the end of the world.

The MCU Spider-Man trilogy

The most obvious three films to watch before Spider-Man: Brand New Day are the three that make up the MCU Spider-Man trilogy. Homecoming, Far From Home, and No Way Home tell the story of Tom Holland's Peter Parker so far. If you're pressed for time, No Way Home is the most important to (re)watch, since that film covers how and why the world forgets Peter Parker. But, if you have more spare time on your hands, you could also go back and watch Spidey's MCU introduction, which came in Captain America: Civil War, though we doubt it will be relevant for this movie.

Punisher: One Last Kill

Jon Bernthal's Frank Castle has a role in Brand New Day, and, for the latest on Punisher's antics in the MCU, his own standalone special is the place to go. One Last Kill focuses on Frank's mental health and his mission to avenge his family, as well as a new crime boss threatening his neighbourhood. It tees up a vigilante Punisher who has moved beyond his revenge mission, which could make his dynamic with Spidey very interesting in Brand New Day.

Avengers: Infinity War and Avengers: Endgame

While Spidey does appear in both of these Avengers movies, these actually provide great background for Mark Ruffalo's Hulk, who looks to have a hefty role in the new movie. These Avengers films give context to Bruce Banner's struggle with his Hulk persona, as well as the Smart Hulk that allows him to keep his head when he goes green. For even more context, you can check out She-Hulk on Disney Plus, too. The show focuses on Bruce's cousin Jennifer Walters, but Bruce has a supporting role.

Daredevil

Spider-Man: Brand New Day's villain is a mystery, but some signs point towards the Hand. Netflix's Daredevil show is no longer MCU canon, but the Hand is the main villain of Daredevil season 2 – so it could be worth checking out this show's version of the group before Brand New Day. You can also find the Hand in Iron Fist, if you really want to do your homework.

As well as Marvel's big return to Hall H this weekend at San Diego Comic-Con 2026, the studio has kicked off celebrations a little early at the Marvel Comics to Screen panel, where it has been announced that X-Men '97 season 3 is officially complete.

During the panel, Marvel TV head Brad Winderbaum said X-Men '97 season 3 is finished and ready to hit Disney Plus in 2027. Better yet, the SDCC audience got to see the first clip from the animated show's junior season, which showed Magneto's the Brotherhood of Evil Mutants fighting the mutant robots known as the Sentinels.

Beyond that, the panel confirmed that X-Men '97 season 4 is officially in production at Marvel Animation, with 4 scripts already being worked on. This is good news indeed, as fans were not too happy with having to wait two years between seasons 1 and 2. However, earlier this year, Producer Larry Houston told The Direct that the delay was a "one-off" and "won't happen again" with seasons 3 and 4.

X-Men '97 season 2 is currently midway through airing, with X-Men '97 season 2, episode 6 titled 'Danger.Exe' hitting Disney Plus on July 22. The animated series' sophomore season will wrap up on August 12, with the finale cryptically titled 'The Survival of the Fittest'. So far this season we have seen our favorite mutants scattered across decades, whilst Scott and Jean desperately try and save their son, and the threat of OG mutant Apocalypse continues to loom over our heroes. Plus, this week delivered the Wolverine episode we had all been waiting for.

This week, we're anticipating a hefty Avengers: Doomsday news dump on the horizon, what with the Latverian leader set to make his presence known at SDCC this weekend.

One other MCU legend that could also be making an appearance, though, is the lawyer-turned-lawbreaker, Matt Murdock (Charlie Cox) aka Daredevil. After the events of season 2 and behind-the-scenes footage of Élodie Yung back in action as Elektra, it's clear that the Devil of Hell's Kitchen will have a lot on his plate when he's back on our screens, and we might see some this weekend. If you can't wait that long, well, don't worry. The snoops of the internet have revealed more leaked images hinting at how he'll be looking when he returns.

A batch of images of gifts the crew was given on production have appeared online, with the most noticeable item showing Matt dressed the same way he was when he was put in prison during comic writer Chip Zdarsky's run from 2020. That artwork, from Marco Checchetto and Matt Wilson, can be seen on a poster for the show's SPFX department, who are also labeled the "Gate Keepers of Cell Block D," referencing the Ed Brubaker-penned arc from 2006. Besides wielding a great, big bushy beard and the traditional orange prison jumpsuit, Matt also dons an orange rag to make a balaclava similar to the black one we first saw Cox wear in the original Netflix series.

For the more keen-eyed fans, though, there's an even greater detail to take away from these photos, and it's the one spread across Charlie Cox's back. The T-shirt he's wearing for Born Again season 3 shows the "Daredevil" lettering, which is composed of various different comic book issues, some of which seem crucial to next season's story.

Firstly, there's a Zdarsky issue, followed by "Defenders" #2 from 2017 (no surprise there given the gang are getting back together). There's also an image of the female Muse, Morgan Whittier, from "Daredevil: Unleash Hell" #1, who was the inspiration for Matt's unhinged ex, Heather (Margarita Levieva), and her trajectory in the show's next chapter. In the comics, that Muse also went up against Elektra when she took on the mantle of Daredevil herself. Could this suggest that two of Daredevil's very lethal exes are going to throw down with one another while Matt is behind bars? If so, then perhaps it's better that our legendary lawyer stays there and lets his former lady friends air out their issues. That is, as long as an old fan-favorite assassin doesn't get to one of them first.

Perhaps the most noticeable comic issue on this t-shirt is in "Daredevil" #181, which any fan of old Hornhead will know saw Bullseye (played by Wilson Bethel) kill Elektra with her own sai.

Regardless of seeing Poindexter head off to parts unknown at the end of season 2, leaks confirm that Bethel will be back in an upgraded costume that looks more in line with the very set Bullseye wears in the comics when he kills Elektra. With that in mind, could Yung's return to Hell’s Kitchen be a brief one?

The supersized cast for Avengers: Doomsday features plenty of returning Marvel stars, including the Fox-era X-Men.

Rebecca Romijn is back as Mystique, alongside the likes of Ian McKellen as Magneto, Patrick Stewart as Professor X, and Alan Cumming as Nightcrawler. But, according to Romijn, this might be a slightly different version of her X-Men character to the one we're used to – at least when it comes to makeup.

"First of all, it was a call that I was not expecting at all. And it was my very first question: 'Let's talk about the makeup process.' It is a slightly different take [in Doomsday]," she told Inverse. The makeup used to take a whole nine hours, so it's understandable that might have been a sticking point.

"And of course I jumped at it; I couldn't wait to do it again," she continued. "It was also interesting because when I played her the first time, I didn't have ownership. At the very beginning, I had impostor syndrome. I was young. Like, I was really young, and I was like, 'Oh, maybe I was just the girl who happened to be available.' I had to audition, but I really was like, 'This is a fluke. They're about to find out that I have no business being here.' But that was just me in my youth. We've all gone through that. I didn't have that at all this time going back. I went back in with so much ownership of her this time, and that was delightful."

In the first trailer for Avengers: Doomsday, we see Romijn's Mystique face off against Florence Pugh's Yelena Belova – and even take the Black Widow's face.

"Nine hours every day, yeah," Romijn said of the old Mystique makeup in the same interview. "I'd go in at midnight to be ready at 9 a.m., and then I would want to shoot as much as possible. I would end up shooting like maybe 15 hours, and then it would take another three or four hours to take everything off."

"So I'd work like 24 hours straight, and then I'd have to have 24 hours off in between so that my skin could breathe because underneath all those prosthetics – which was on roughly 75% of my body – there was nowhere for the sweat to go when I was doing all the action stuff. And so I would blister underneath my prosthetics, and I would have to take 24 hours off in between with healing salves."

"But it was worth it," she added. "I'm telling you, that makeup process and that costume was the most beautiful costume I've ever seen. Every time we were finished with it, I would look in the mirror and go, 'Wow, guys, it's really beautiful.' But there are parts of it that made me irritable and put me in the perfect headspace to play somebody like Mystique."

As the world waits to see Tom Holland slip back into the Spidey suit, one thing he seems determined not to slip up on is Spider-Man: Brand New Day spoilers.

Plot details and rumors might be scattered about online, but the star who first swung onto the scene an unthinkable ten years ago is being very careful about what he's sharing, with the movie only a few days away from release. That includes the identity of the mystery character played by Stranger Things' star, Sadie Sink, which everyone and their mutant-loving aunt expects to be Jean Grey. According to Holland, though, the future X-Men member won’t be making an appearance here. Honest.

In an interview with Brazilian TikToker Natalia Kreuser, the star behind Spidey discussed more details regarding the fractured relationship between Peter Parker, his former best friend Ned (Jacob Batalon), and most importantly, the lost love of his life, MJ (Zendaya). "I hope that there are moments in the theater where the audience is just screaming at the screen, just telling him to tell her how she feels." With that, Kreuser suggested, "Jean Grey can help," hoping to catch Holland out regarding the long-gestating theory. "She's not in this movie, but it would be pretty cool," Holland replied.

Is he telling the truth, or has the longtime MCU star's spoiler avoidance training finally paid off? Whoever Sink is, we know that her time in this comic book world won't end with Brand New Day, as she's been confirmed to be making an appearance in Avengers: Secret Wars. Surely the follow-up to Avengers: Doomsday won't be making space for some small-time Spidey foe when the fate of a bajillion realities are at stake?

Thankfully, we won't have long to wait given that Spider-Man: Brand New Day will finally land in theaters on July 31.

Spider-Man: Brand New Day composer Michael Giacchino has sent a chill down all of our spines by teasing the tone of the new movie – and now I'm really worried for Peter Parker.

"Well, I guess I'll just say a little bit about this new Spider-Man," Giacchino shared at the Musical Anatomy of a Superhero panel at this year's San Diego Comic-Con. "I love the new Spider-Man movie. It's really great. I'm so excited. I can't wait for you guys to see it. Tom Holland is great – everyone. But it was really fun because at first I thought, 'Wow, I've never done four of anything. This is the first time I've done four movies of doing the same thing.'

"So, I wasn't sure what I was going to be able to bring new to the table for this, and I just sort of had this idea, that I asked Destin [Daniel Cretton], the director who did an incredible job, was, 'What if we just start removing all the extraneous notes from his theme in the way that could represent pulling away all the pieces of his life that he doesn't have anymore?'" Giacchino shared.

"I know, it's so sad," he continued, when the crowd aww'd. "I was like, 'I want to make a sad Spider-Man movie.' Everyone wants to see a sad Spider-Man, you know, because we're all sad and we can be sad together, it's great. But it was really fun to see what happened when this – I was curious if it would even hold up in that sense because now it is down to its base roots. And I look at it now, and I was like, 'Hmm, maybe you should have done that like three movies ago.' But we live and learn."

Spider-Man: Brand New Day certainly looks like an emotional installment in the quartet, mainly because, at the end of No Way Home, Peter Parker was erased from the memories of everyone in the multiverse. That means MJ and Ned no longer remember him, and he's pretty much all alone. So, having a different theme certainly seems fitting.

San Diego Comic-Con 2026 has kicked off, and it's already brought with it some interesting details about Avengers: Doomsday. On the opening preview night, the costumes for the upcoming Marvel movie were on display, including a character that we are yet to meet.

As you can see from the image below, one of the costumes is for a "Latverian Witch". This looks very similar to what we've seen of Doctor Doom's costume so far, complete with another distinctive mask.

We've not seen this character in any of the promotion for Avengers: Doomsday yet. She didn't appear in the recently released trailer nor has she been announced as part of the cast. As you might imagine then, Marvel fans have been having a field day speculating about who she might be.

Posting on Reddit, several fans think this could spell the return of Wanda Maximoff, the MCU's most well known witch. This has been fuelled by a comic book run called Avengers: The Children's Crusade where Doctor Doom kidnaps Wanda.

"The first thing I thought of when I saw the costume and the word 'witch' was Wanda from that Children’s Crusade comic," wrote one, while another suggested: "Perhaps even a secret Scarlet one? (Wishful thinking)."

Others have wondered if this may finally be how Clea is reintroduced after Charlize Theron's character made a brief appearance in Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness post-credits scene. "It might be Clea - seen some theories that her and Strange actually end up helping Doom," wrote another.

Others have been wondering whether the witch may actually be Doom's mother, who does seem to be a part of the poster and was mentioned during the pop-up a few months ago. "Could also be Doom's mother, his first love Valeria (not Richards), Morgan Le Fey (maybe renamed) or Lady Victorius as well. Will wait and see. Of course I'd love if it were Wanda, but not gonna get my hopes up," another theory suggested.

Marvel boss Kevin Feige says there's plenty more Spider-Man on the way.

"The good news is, Sony has the Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse series, which are very popular and excellent, and Beyond the Universe is coming out next year," Feige said in an interview with Shanghai media outlet Watching Hollywood. "But yes, we definitely have plans, and I think a live-action Spider-Man movie has this destiny: to add Miles sometime after the Spider-Verse series ends. We've been thinking and discussing more Spider-Man adventures, regardless of agreements or contracts. My production partner, Amy Pascal, is already working on it, and we've had in-depth discussions about what the next two, three, four, and five Spider-Man movies might be about."

Fans have been demanding a live-action Miles Morales movie since Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse was first released. It didn't seem like a possibility until Spider-Man: No Way Home introduced the possibility of more than one Spider-Man co-existing in the MCU, albeit living in different universes.

There's also a nod to Miles in No Way Home: In one scene, Electro (Jamie Foxx) finally sees the Spider-Man from his universe, Andrew Garfield, unmasked. In a funny but touching way (that was apparently improvised), Electro says, "You're from Queens, you got that suit, you help poor people... I just thought you was gonna be black." Garfield's Spidey apologizes, to which Electro says, "There's gotta be a black Spider-Man out there somewhere." Spidey's enthusiastic nod and smile in that moment led a lot of fans to believe that a Miles Morales movie was inevitable.

There are also some rumors that Stranger Things star Caleb McLaughlin has been cast, or at least is in the running, as Miles Morales due to the fact that he refuses to do the classic Spider-Man web-slinging pose at conventions. Other popular fan-casts include Miles Brown, who led the show Black-ish from 2014-2022, and Myles Truitt, who had a recurring role on Stranger Things season 4.

The official trailer for Avengers: Doomsday is here, and some eagle-eyed Marvel fans have pointed out what they believe to be the final shot (or one of the very last shots, at least) of the new Marvel movie.

The two-minute trailer sees the Avengers, New Avengers, Fantastic Four, and X-Men all face off while the looming presence of Doctor Doom hangs over them. In one specific shot, Johnny Storm is seen holding his sister Sue while a (rather nuclear-disaster-looking) flash of light encompasses them. Twitter user NebsGoodTakes took the liberty of lowering the brightness on the trailer, which allegedly reveals debris from what appears to be a fatal explosion happening behind them. You can check it out below.

Neb went on to clarify: "Assuming the movie ends like in Hickman's Avengers run, the debris on the left is the final incursion wiping out 616." This is in reference to Jonathan Hickman's 2012-2025 Avengers comic book run, which sees Tony Stark and Captain America assemble a super team of Avengers (spanning heroes all across the globe) in order to defeat a villain conglomerate known as the Beyonders... of which Doctor Doom is a part of. To sum it up: "incursions" are coming to destroy the Earth as they know it, and the only way they can stop it is by destroying another world. They ultimately decide against this, and Earth-616 goes kaboom.

It's very possible that the movie follows these events... In fact, anything is possible given that we still don't know the true meaning behind Doctor Doom's arrival, or what his true endgame really is. It's also possible that an incursion is what destroyed the X-Mansion in the trailer as well. Only time will tell.

Kevin Feige has opened up about his plans for the future of the MCU – and it's looking like it's not stopping any time soon. The Marvel Studios head shared some insight with a Chinese publication called Watching Hollywood recently, confirming they have plans for another two decades of movies.

"We were just in a Marvel Studios meeting room, planning movies all the way up to 2042," he told the publication in a transcript shared on Weibo, which has been translated. "Whether we can make it to 2042? Who knows? Will it be those movies? Who knows?"

Speaking of the next stage of the Avengers movies, Feige added that they are a "beginning" of a new era for the MCU, and it sounds like the X-Men will be at the heart of that.

"It will establish a streamlined, simplified, single universe that we can keep up with," he explained. "Some things will be familiar, but many, many things will be entirely new. Going back to what we mentioned earlier about attracting young people and connecting with a new generation of audiences, that's exactly what the next universe will be about. And fundamentally, the X-Men will be at its core."

Feige went on to say that "fundamentally, it's a universe, a multi-stage saga. Much of that is what we're working towards." He even confirmed what the next stage of the MCU might be called, adding: "We're constantly changing, constantly evolving, but having some guidance helps us act more purposefully… especially with X-Men – it's already had 10 movies, some very, very good, some I think haven't lived up to expectations – how do we plan the 'mutant saga' in a very grand way?"

These are some really intriguing comments and we're betting we'll find out more about Feige's plans for the MCU at the upcoming San Diego Comic-Con panel. He'll be returning to Hall H this year as we expect to hear more about Avengers: Doomsday, Avengers: Secret Wars, and the upcoming X-Men movie too.

Kevin Feige had a very promising reaction to Spider-Man: Brand New Day, and it's only made us more excited for the Marvel Phase 6 movie.

According to producer Amy Pascal, she and Feige had a particularly exuberant reaction to the cut of the film they saw.

"Actually, it was the first time that Kevin and I stood up after a director's cut and cheered," she told Collider. "That's how good it was. That's how good Destin [Daniel Cretton, director] is."

The film is so far pretty mysterious, even though it's just days away. We don't even know who the villain of the film is, nor do we know whom Sadie Sink is playing – though Marvel fans are convinced the Stranger Things star will be Jean Grey.

"But you'll see when you watch the movie that there's a very real reason not to tell people who Sadie Sink is playing," Cretton has teased. "And I don't think you'll get mad at it. I think you'll be like, 'Oh, I'm glad I didn't know that.'"

It's an exciting time to be a Marvel fan, with the first trailer for Avengers: Doomsday recently dropping online. It reveals Robert Downey Jr.'s Doom voice and also teases more about the return of Steve Rogers, though it still doesn't give much away on what the film is actually about.

We only have one more week left to wait until Spider-Man: Brand New Day hits screens, but Sadie Sink's character is still a total mystery. However, the star has spilled on what attracted her to the role.

"I think I just really wanted to play the character and to join the world. The Spider-Man universe is amazing, I'm such a fan," said Sink to Access Hollywood. Sink landed the role without auditioning or even reading a script. In fact, she wasn't handed the script until she landed in London for filming, which is probably due to the team not wanting the character's identity to be released before they had cast the role.

But the star already knew director Destin Daniel Cretton, and had worked with him before on the 2017 movie The Glass Castle. "[Cretton] talked me through the character and what he had in mind and is obviously someone that I'd worked with before," added Sink. "I was very comfortable. So that kind of made it a no-brainer for me."

Despite the Stranger Things star being part of the Brand New Day press tour, we still haven't seen her in any of the trailers or promotional material. Sink says promoting the movie has "just kind of been boring" because she "can't talk about anything." However, the star says she has told "a few people, just close family" about who she is really playing.

Marvel fans are convinced Sink is playing X-Men mutant Jean Grey, after spotting a hooded figure in the Spider-Man: Brand New Day trailer. Plus, the synopsis hints that Tom Holland's Spidey will be fighting a villain that no one can see, who uses other villains as puppets. This fits Grey to a T, who has telekinetic powers. Plus, the hero has been known to join the dark side every now and again.

The first trailer for Avengers: Doomsday has just fallen short of breaking a major record, despite racking up a huge number of views in 24 hours.

The Doomsday trailer scored 503 million views in 24 hours according to Variety, which means it beats GTA 6's 475 million views in the same time frame. But, Spider-Man: Brand New Day drew a massive 719 million views.

The Doomsday trailer followed four short teasers focused on Steve Rogers' return, Thor, the X-Men, and finally the Wakandans. In the new trailer, we hear Robert Downey Jr.'s Doom voice for the first time, get a better look at Steve's return, and see a showdown between the Avengers and the X-Men.

However, it's still not entirely clear what the movie is actually about, though a new poster might have revealed Doom's motivation.

The supersized Avengers: Doomsday cast includes the likes of Anthony Mackie's Captain America, the Thunderbolts, the Fantastic Four, and more. Tom Holland's Spider-Man, however, is absent: though he's soon returning in Brand New Day.

"I never want to be so presumptuous as to say anything is going to be a trilogy or more than one. That would be my dream, of course, but you never know," Spidey producer Amy Pascal said recently. "Because the truth is that the rule that we set for ourselves is to take it one movie at a time. It's important to us that you don't have to see one movie to see the other movie."

Avengers: Doomsday arrives this December 18, while Brand New Day arrives this July 29 in the UK and July 31 in the US.

Spider-Man: Brand New Day director Destin Daniel Cretton says they're refusing to reveal Sadie Sink's character for a good reason... and that we won't be mad about it.

"If people are gonna get mad, I can't control that!" Cretton told Rolling Stone. "I wish everything was a secret. Some people wanna know everything, and some people don't. There are certain people like me... if I know I'm gonna watch a movie, I try not to even watch the trailers."

"But you'll see when you watch the movie that there's a very real reason not to tell people who Sadie Sink is playing," Cretton continued. "And I don’t think you'll get mad at it. I think you'll be like, 'Oh, I'm glad I didn't know that.'"

In the various Brand New Day trailers, Peter is faced with a "powerful threat" that no one can seem to defeat or even sense. The threat in question seems to be able to control minds and temporarily disable Spidey from using his powers... which are powers that founding X-Men member Jean Grey does indeed possess.

But, I ask you, why would Jean Grey be a bad guy right off the bat... unless she's playing the Dark Phoenix version of Jean Grey, or Madelyne Pryor, who is Jean Grey's 'evil' clone (and featured in X-Men '97 season 1). Either way, I will be seated.

The final trailer for Spider-Man: Brand New Day is here, and it sees Tom Holland's Peter Parker swinging onto screens once again.

The new teaser, which can be viewed above, takes us through a brief recap of the first three films, all while Peter recites the letter he wrote to MJ that he intended to give her at the very end of Spider-Man: No Way Home (and yes, I'm still crying). As we fast-forward to the present day, we see Peter take the letter out of its hiding spot before cutting to fights with Scorpion, Savage Hulk, and the Hand. And then, just in case you had stopped crying for a second, we cut to Peter as Spider-Man entering MJ's apartment and saying, "I made a promise that I would always keep you safe."

We're just a few weeks away from the release of Spider-Man: Brand New Day now and plenty of details are still being kept a secret. The biggest secret remains over who Sadie Sink is playing, but we're also not certain on who the villain is and whether there will be any impact on the story of Avengers: Doomsday.

What's more, Holland has been teasing fans about the movie's title too. In a new documentary, he said: "The Brand New Day of this movie – it isn't the beginning, it's in the last frame of this movie." Could that mean more is in store for Holland's webslinger? It seems only time will tell.

Brand New Day takes place after the events of Spider-Man: No Way Home. If you'll recall, this saw Doctor Strange wipe the memory of everyone on Earth about who the real Spider-Man is. This also meant that Parker disappeared from the memory of those closest to him.

From the trailers so far, we see that he tries to rebuild those friendships while also dealing with a new, hidden villain. He'll be helped along the way by MCU heroes Bruce Banner/the Hulk and the Punisher. We also think another major Marvel character could cameo too...

The first trailer for Avengers: Doomsday has finally arrived, and it's made one thing clear already – beloved robot HERBIE has had a redesign.

In Fantastic Four, HERBIE has a retro yet futuristic design, matching the stylized aesthetic of the movie. But, it seems that, for Doomsday, he'll look a little bit more ordinary.

Naturally, fans aren't best pleased. "They took away his cool design for a more 'modern' boring look," says one person.

"Not them downgrading herbie," says another. "The weird need to redesign everything because they’ve got more money than they know what to do with is so fucking stupid. Fantastic Four was so good, unique and hard its own sense of style, now H.E.R.B.I.E is just another Eva looking futuristic droid," argues someone else.

"I fell to the ground in despair, in tears," says another fan. "Cancel the whole fucking movie. right now. I'm serious," is another person's thoughts.

Along with the Fantastic Four, the rest of the supersized Avengers: Doomsday cast includes the Thunderbolts, the Fox-era X-Men, and the likes of Chris Hemsworth's Thor and Chris Evans's Steve Rogers. Robert Downey Jr. plays Doctor Doom, and the trailer teased the voice he's using for the villain.

Doom's motivation might have been teased by a new poster, too – in the trailer, he seems to be trying to warn someone about something.

Although Chris Evans' Steve Rogers only appears during the last few seconds of the new Avengers: Doomsday trailer, the way the ex-Captain America looks and acts has thrown many viewers off. But one Marvel fan thinks they know why he is so different.

"Long-haired Steve Rogers isn't our Steve, he's Hydra Cap. "Hydra could be working with Doom," stated one fan on Twitter, mentioning that even Thor looks "genuinely shocked" when Rogers appears in that last scene.

So, who is Hydra Cap? In Marvel comics, Captain Hydra is a version of Steve Rogers who was raised in an altered timeline created by Kobik and was converted to Hydra. Also known as the Brotherhood of the Spear, Hydra is a terrorist organization that seeks world domination. Hydra has already appeared in the Marvel Cinematic Universe in multiple Captain America and Avengers movies, and also in the Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. series.

So, what does that mean for Avengers: Doomsday? Captain Hydra may be posing as the Rogers we know so he can infiltrate the Avengers and set up a Hydra takeover. The fan also pointed out that in the comics, Captain Hydra was able to lift Thor's hammer, allowing him to deceive the Norse god, which could be exactly what is happening in the trailer.

We had our doubts about how Steve Rogers would be able to return in Doomsday after he left Earth 616 at the end of Avengers: Endgame and travelled back in time to be with Peggy Carter. At the end of the movie, we see old man Rogers pass on the shield to Anthony Mackie's Sam Wilson. The fan believes that if that is Captain Hydra in the trailer, we might see the real "short hair" Steve Rogers in Secret Wars, which Evans is also returning for.

With this, we wonder if Captain Hydra is the real villain in Doomsday. It seems odd that Marvel has given so much of Robert Downey Jr.'s Doctor Doom away in the very first trailer. The studio has yet to reveal Spider-Man: Brand New Day's villain, even though the fourth Spidey movie is due to hit cinemas in under two weeks, so why spoil Doom's voice and full suit so early on? We think Marvel is hiding a few tricks up its sleeves.

After the first trailer for Avengers: Doomsday arrived, Marvel dropped a poster for the film that might give away more information about Doom's mysterious motivation.

In the poster, which you can see below, Doom climbs some stairs below a mural that shows a woman and a child embracing, surrounded by what appear to be angels. Naturally, Marvel fans have a lot of ideas about what it might mean.

"My theory is Doom loses his family & universe due to an incursion, thanks to Steve Rogers creating an alternate timeline by living in the past," suggests one fan – Steve is back in Doomsday after returning to the past to live the rest of his life with Peggy Carter in the Avengers: Endgame ending.

"Could it be Doom as a boy with his mother? In the comics he loves his mother more than anything but she died and her soul is trapped in hell. Every year Doom goes to hell to battle Mephisto for her soul but fails," theorizes another fan.

"Looks suspiciously like Franklin + Sue or am I reaching?" is someone else's idea. "I'm assuming these are his wife and son," guesses someone else.

"My guess, either Doom and his mother or Doom's wife and son. Rumors have suggested that the Avengers may have accidentally killed said loved ones with their time travel shenanigans in Endgame," says someone else, who adds: "EDIT: The Earth coming out of the clouds also looks like Incursion imagery, there's a guy who looks like Molecule Man in the bottom left corner, there's a big battle underneath which is probably the fighting between Earths as Incursions happen"

"I'm guessing that's Doom and his mother, and a reference to Battleworld in the center. Shot in the dark... something created an incursion that destroyed Doom's world and killed his mother. Could have been Steve choosing to stay in the past, but I'm putting my money on Loki taking over the timeline as the cause," is another person's theory. "Thematically, going after the god that controls the fate of your world is absolutely something that Doom would do. And it would technically still be the Avengers' fault because they (accidentally) allowed that variant to escape with the Tesseract."

"Why is Tony doing the snap from Endgame in the tapestry?" questions another person – in the bottom right, it certainly looks like Tony Stark snapping his fingers.

In the trailer, Doom's voiceover at the beginning – which reveals Robert Downey Jr.'s Doom accent, too – seems to tease that Doom is actually trying to stop something. What that might be remains a mystery for now.

The Avengers: Doomsday trailer has arrived and Marvel fans are already convinced that the studio is being tricky with the first look. One scene in particular has had eagle-eyed viewers wondering if a character has been edited out.

The big team-up shot in the new Avengers tower features the Thunderbolts, the Fantastic Four, and the OG Avengers. However, some have been wondering if more people will actually be in this shot in the final movie.

This is because there's a gap between the members of the Fantastic Four at the back of the shot in the Doomsday trailer, between Sue and Reed Richards and The Thing and Human Torch. If you look at the screengrab below, it's pretty obvious that a space is missing, but who could be hiding in it?

Well this is where the theory gets really interesting. One fan thinks that Doctor Doom is the character that's been edited out, suggesting that he is there "as a wolf in sheep's clothing." As another suggested too, "It probably is Doom, he was in that Fantastic 4's universe, likely came with them wherever they went."

A third had an even wilder idea, suggesting that it "might sound crazy but why do I feel like it’ll be two Dr dooms and one will teach them how to defeat this more powerful Doom idk." That's certainly an interesting idea…

Others have been wondering if several characters have been removed from the moment too. Next to the Thunderbolts team, there is a shadow that doesn't seem to belong to anyone.

Marvel does have a habit of editing people out of their trailers and there are several potential characters that could be involved. In fact, we still don't actually know if Spider-Man is in Avengers: Doomsday yet…

Kevin Feige says he feels like a failure for not being able to get Marvel's indefinitely delayed Blade reboot off the ground.

"I'm feeling very excited that we got Wesley back for a time in Deadpool & Wolverine, and like a gigantic loser and failure that we didn’t get off the ground with Mahershala [Ali]," Feige said in an interview with Josh Horowitz (via Variety).

Here's the tea: a brand new movie based on the vampire hero Blade, famously portrayed by Wesley Snipes in the 1998 film that helped get Marvel movies off the ground, was announced back in 2015. After several years without news, it was officially announced at San Diego Comic Con in 2021 that the film would be moving ahead with two-time Academy Award winner Mahershala Ali as the titular hero.

Bassam Tariq (Ghosts of Sugar Land) was announced as director, but exited the film a month before production was set to begin in 2022. French filmmaker Yann Demange was announced as the new director later that year, but production was halted once again due to the WGA strike, which pushed its 2024 release date to 2025. The first iteration of the script took place in the 1920s, and was subsequently scrapped (though the costumes and sets may or may not have been used in the Oscar-winning horror Sinners). In 2023, the film was given a promising R rating. In 2024, however, it was removed from the Marvel release calendar entirely, and Ali (understandably) refuses to comment on it.

Snipes appeared as Blade in Deadpool and Wolverine, and it was one of the best things to ever happen to me. He also broke the Guinness World Record for longest career as a live-action Marvel character, totaling 25 years and 340 days at the time of his Deadpool and Wolverine cameo. It might be some time before we see a Blade movie, but it would be nice if they just let Snipes do it...

Spider-Man: Brand New Day director Destin Daniel Cretton says Insomniac's Spider-Man games inspired some of the stunts in the new movie.

"I am not a gamer, but I've played the game, but I surrounded myself with people who were obsessive gamers," Cretton told Polygon, when asked if he referenced Insomniac's Spider-Man video games while making the film. "So a lot of the people in our stunt department loved playing those video games. So they would do screen grabs of their play and bring it in and say like, 'Can we pull this move off?' So that was a great inspiration for things."

Marvel's Spider-Man is a video game franchise created by Insomniac Games and published by Sony Interactive for PlayStation and Windows. The incredibly popular and well-received games include Marvel's Spider-Man, Marvel's Spider-Man: Miles Morales, and Marvel's Spider-Man 2... and they're fun as heck, too.

It doesn't surprise me that some of the wildest shots from the games would serve as inspiration for the new film. In the games, Spidey can launch himself like a slingshot, nose-dive from a skyscraper before activating his web, slingshot between sections of a collapsing bridge, and launch himself through a glass window. Given that Peter has some new, uh, abilities in Spider-Man: Brand New Day, we're ready for some brand new moves.

The new movie sees a down-on-his-luck Peter Parker wrestle with his new abilities while taking on a new, seemingly invincible threat while still being forgotten by his best friends and the world at large.

The official trailer for Avengers: Doomsday has arrived, and while we get some pretty sick action scenes, a better understanding of the plot, and our first snippet of Robert Downey Jr.'s accent as Victor Von Doom... we have even more questions than we did before.

The two-minute trailer sees the Avengers, New Avengers, Fantastic Four, and X-Men all face off while the looming presence of Doctor Doom hangs over them. But you might be wondering how the X-Men and the Avengers even meet, or how the Fantastic Four got to Earth-616, or if we're even on Earth-616 in the first place... No worries: that's where we come in. Below, we've put together the 5 biggest questions from the Avengers: Doomsday trailer, and given you our best answers.

How is Steve Rogers back from the past?

In one of the very first Avengers: Doomsday trailers (which were more like mini-teasers), we saw a fairly young-looking Steve Rogers cradling a newborn baby... and nothing else. In the latest trailer, we see Steve approach his old pal Thor, much to Thor's disbelief. In order to prove it's really him, Thor raises Mjölnir – and Steve is able to wield it without any hesitation (much like he did in Avengers: Endgame).

But how is Steve, who previously declined to return to the future in order to have a life with Peggy Rogers, née Carter, suddenly back on Earth-616? Our biggest clue is around one minute into the new trailer, when we see a hand holding Loki's TVA card. Though, at first glance, it may seem like Loki holding his own card... we can see, upon closer inspection, that the hand is wearing a wedding band on its ring finger. This is most likely Steve holding Loki's TVA card, meaning the good ol' Time Variance Authority is most likely responsible for Steve's time travel to the future. We don't yet know for sure, but we can also speculate that the TVA is responsible for quite a bit of the multiversal mess in Avengers: Doomsday.

Is Tom Hiddleston playing more than one Loki variant?

Speaking of multiversal mess, the inclusion of Loki's TVA card in the new trailer has sparked some confusion among fans. At the end of Loki season 2, our favorite trickster god is condemned to a life as the God of Stories, holding the literal fabric of the universe together at Yggdrasil. It's been confirmed that Loki, God of Stories, is set to appear in Avengers: Doomsday... but the TVA card has some fans (and myself) wondering if TVA Loki is also set to make an appearance, and if Tom Hiddleston is indeed playing more than one Loki variant.

The actor previously told Men's Journal that Loki's journey in Doomsday picks up right where season 2 left off, and that the movie won't "undo" any character development. It also makes perfect sense for God of Stories Loki to appear in Doomsday given that Doom's arrival threatens the entire universe and everything it encompasses. I'm sticking to the theory, however, that TVA Loki brought Steve Rogers back from the past somehow (though we don't even know how the two would've made contact in the first place).

How do the Avengers end up inside the X-Mansion?

It's exciting to see the X-Men make an appearance in the MCU, but keep in mind that these are not the MCU's X-Men. Patrick Stewart's Charles Xavier, Ian McKellan's Magneto, Rebecca Romijn's Mystique, James Marsden's Cyclops, and Alan Cumming's Nightcrawler are all part of the pre-MCU, Fox-owned X-Men franchise, and exist in Earth-10005.

Confusingly, Channing Tatum's Gambit is not from the same Earth as the Fox characters, as his standalone Gambit movie was never made, and exists in a 'temporary reality' known as Earth-TRN1401. Tatum's Gambit appeared in Deadpool and Wolverine, alongside a few other pre-MCU characters like Wesley Snipes's Blade and Jennifer Garner's Elektra.

The question is, how do the Avengers and the New Avengers end up inside the X-Mansion on Earth-10005? Again, we're going to blame the TVA somehow. It also seems that the Avengers realize they need all the help they can get to defeat Doom, so they travel elsewhere to recruit some more heroes. But if that's the case, then why are the Avengers fighting the X-Men in the new trailer?

How are the Fantastic Four in the main Marvel universe?

At the end of The Fantastic Four: First Steps, the team is still living their lives in the year 1965 on Earth-828. In the Thunderbolts post-credits scene, however, Yelena tracks their ship as an "extra-dimensional" entering Earth-616's atmosphere. We have no idea what prompted them to head to Earth-616, or how (though Reed Richards most likely figured it out given that he's the smartest man in the universe and all), but most importantly... why?

In the comics, Doctor Doom is to the Fantastic Four what Green Goblin is to Spider-Man. He's their biggest adversary, and he appears in their living room next to a young Franklin in the First Steps post-credits scene. Something had to have happened between Doom's appearance and the team heading off to Earth-616, but we don't quite know what that is yet.

What is Doctor Doom's endgame?

The X-Men and the Fantastic Four have crossed over a few times in the comics, and each time Doctor Doom had a plot to either kidnap Sue Storm or cure Kitty Pryde of her mutant powers for his own personal gain. He's also battled the Avengers, with one specific plotline involving the Young Avengers (whose appearance in the MCU we've been anticipating for quite some time now). At the time of writing, we don't know what Victor Von Doom is plotting in Avengers: Doomsday, or what his endgame is regarding destroying the universe. Because he appears in the post-credits scene for The Fantastic Four: First Steps, I think the answer lies with them... especially since, historically, he's their main adversary.

Interestingly enough, Variety posed a theory that Doctor Doom is a variation of Iron Man from another planet (which would explain Robert Downey Jr.'s casting), but Victor Von Doom and Tony Stark are completely separate characters in the comics. They do butt heads in the 2008 Iron Man: Legacy of Doom, which Downey was seen reading as part of his Doomsday prep. He was also reading Secret Wars, in which Doctor Doom is very much alive, which tells me that he won't be defeated at the end of Doomsday and that this is just the beginning for the supervillain's reign of terror in the MCU.

The first official Avengers: Doomsday trailer is finally here, giving us our first real look at Robert Downey Jr. as Doctor Doom. However, thanks to some confusing angles and a rather bizarre accent, the highly anticipated trailer has me worried that Marvel may have taken the wrong direction with this new villain. That is, unless Marvel has another trick up its sleeve.

Avengers: Doomsday hasn't had the easiest road to the big screen. Once intended to be Avengers: The Kang Dynasty, the project saw a complete overhaul followed by a series of delays. But excitement for the fifth Avengers movie soon shot up again after Marvel's famed Hall H panel at San Diego Comic-Con 2024 saw unmasked Iron Man star Downey as Doctor Doom, confirming the movie had swapped out Kang the Conqueror for the green-suited baddie.

With Doom never appearing in live-action before, I wasn't quite sure what to expect. Not to mention the fact that Downey had spent the past decade-plus playing the MCU's first, and perhaps most beloved hero, Tony Stark. With that, I wondered how Marvel would get around the fact that the new villain looks and sounds exactly like the late Avenger. However, I'm not sure that the first trailer has settled my worries. In fact, I fear it has made matters worse.

Doctor Dracula

The new Avengers: Doomsday trailer immediately delivers what we have been waiting for. As Professor X's academy burns to the ground, we hear Doctor Doom warning, "Something's coming, something we may not be able to deter," before we see the villain kneeling, wearing his iconic armour and silver mask. Later in the trailer, we get a full look at Doom as he faces Chris Hemsworth's Thor, before the camera closes in on the villain's mask and glowing green eyes.

However, I can't help but feel as though Doom's voice sounds like a bad Dracula impersonator. Yes, in Marvel comics, Victor Von Doom was indeed born into a Romani community in a fictional nation known as Latveria. I understand that having the new foe sound anything like Stark would be way too confusing, but Downey's newfangled accent sounds dangerously close to Hotel Transylvania rather than the Eastern European scientific genius Doom is meant to be.

The second issue I have with how Doom is presented in the trailer. When we first saw Downey's Doom in The Fantastic Four: First Steps post-credits scene, the villain had an incredibly dark and looming presence. Although he didn't really do anything too shocking in those few moments, his overall energy was ominous. But in the Doomsday trailer, the villain seems quite stiff and struggles to leave an impression. This differs from how Marvel Comics presents Doom as a 6-foot-7 force of nature who has brains and brawn. In short, I need him to have a similar aura to Agamemnon in Christopher Nolan's The Odyssey.

Marvel's main man

Complaints aside, let's not get ahead of ourselves and judge a book by its cover right away. As I mentioned earlier, Doom's initial appearance in Fantastic Four did leave a lasting effect, so letting the first Doomsday trailer put a dampener on the whole project would be a mistake. We know that Downey is a capable actor and has been put in quite a difficult position in practically saving the fifth Avengers movie from being delayed indefinitely. Let's also remember that the movie is still in post-production, meaning any kinks can still be, ahem, ironed out.

I do think it was a mistake to give so much of Doom away in the very first trailer. Just look at Spider-Man: Brand New Day. The upcoming Spidey installment is less than two weeks from hitting the big screen, and we still don't know who the main villain is. With this, I wonder why Marvel has chosen to show so much of Doom. Could he be a red herring? I have had my doubts about whether Doom really is the main villain in Marvel Phase 6's Doomsday.

Another detail in the trailer, which I feel as though many people are skipping over, is that Doom seems to be warning the heroes that an Incursion is coming to destroy Earth-616. Why would he do that if he wanted to put an end to the Avengers? On top of this, the new Doomsday synopsis from Fandango teases "Beloved heroes from three distinct universes will be set on a deadly collision course and ultimately face an existential threat unlike anything they've ever encountered." But fails to mention Doom by name.

The rest of the synopsis suggests anything goes in Doomsday, as the movie marks the Multiverse Saga's "final chapter" and "will lay the foundation for the future" of the MCU. I do think that Doomsday will change Marvel's Cinematic Universe as we know it, including killing off many of the heroes it is bringing back in its stacked cast list. I just hope that Doom's lackluster reveal is part of a bigger plan, and that we haven't just seen all of what Avengers: Doomsday's villain has to offer way too early.

Doctor Doom's warning

The trailer begins with a voiceover from what sounds like Robert Downey Jr.'s Doctor Doom. Strangely, he's not issuing a threat, however, but a warning. "Something's coming," he says. "Something we may not be able to deter. Before this day is done, we shall be faced with an unthinkable decision." What does that mean? Well, we have no idea, but it suggests he's not going to be a straightforward villain. Probably, like Thanos, he'll have a twisted idea of how to save the universe (or, perhaps, multiverse).

The X-Mansion

We already knew the X-Mansion was in danger thanks to the brief teaser that showed off the mutants' involvement in the film. But we see more of the situation in this trailer, including Shang-Chi and Gambit facing off, Professor X looking out the window at a huge flare of light in the sky, and Sam Wilson's Captain America, Reed Richards, and Yelena Belova in the fight (and HERBIE). Plus, Mystique morphs into Yelena mid-tussle. We know it ends with Cyclops screaming on his knees, unleashing his powers, and the school in ruins, so it seems things will escalate dramatically from what's shown in the trailer.

New Avengers Tower

Earth's Mightiest Heroes gather in the New Avengers Tower as Thor warns them of the magnitude of what they're facing. Ant-Man, Sam Wilson's Captain America, Bucky Barnes, the Fantastic Four, and the Thunderbolts are present. Thor also arrives with the Fantastic Four, interestingly, suggesting he goes off to find them.

Wakanda

When Shuri and M'Baku meet with The Thing, Sue Storm, Ghost, Falcon, and Bucky Barnes, it looks like the ocean is being held back by some kind of force behind them. In Wakanda Forever, Namor didn't have any ocean powers of his own, unlike in the comics, and, in this trailer, he has a throne on land that appears to be nearby (you can see the ocean wall through the windows of the building). So, what's happening here? Perhaps a threat to the sea would be enough to get Namor, who had no interest in human affairs previously, involved. What is clear, though, is that there is still understandable tension between the Wakandans and the Talokanil, since they look seconds away from fighting.

Plus, in the comics, Namor and Bucky fought in World War 2 together, and they finally meet (or are at least in the same place) in live-action in this trailer. Namor and Sue Storm also share the screen here, and they have a very complicated dynamic in Marvel's source material.

Thor vs. Doom

Thor and Doom go head to head in what appears to be ruins of some kind. It's not clear if this is the X-Mansion or someplace else, but what can be seen is a statue. Frustratingly, it's not giving away any clues at where they're fighting.

But, what is clear is that Doom can easily stop Thor in his tracks, hammer and all. Considering Thor is one of the most powerful characters in the MCU (a god, no less), this spells serious trouble for Earth's Mightiest Heroes.

The Falcon

Danny Ramirez's Joaquin Torres can only be seen in the background of two scenes in the trailer, in Wakanda and in the X-Mansion. We're now very worried about the fate of the new Falcon. Could he be an early death? But Bucky Barnes can also only be seen briefly, so maybe we need to worry about more than one person. After all, Marvel fans are already convinced Bucky is not long for this world after Sebastian Stan's casting in The Batman 2.

Loki

Loki is back! He still has his TVA pass, despite becoming the God of Stories in the Loki season 2 finale. Interestingly, the tree – Yggdrasil – is etched on the back of his pass. Is this a get-out-of-tree-free card? Otherwise, something huge must've happened to release him from his duty of holding the multiverse together. Could this be linked to Doom's warning?

Steve Rogers

Also making a triumphant return is Chris Evans's Steve Rogers. He's bearded with longer hair, somewhat like his Infinity War look (and Thor resembles his Infinity War look, too, if that means anything). Most importantly, though, Steve is still capable of wielding Mjolnir. How he has returned and why remains to be seen, but his comeback was given away in the very first teaser for the movie. Sadly, we don't see in this trailer if he gets to have a reunion with his old pals Sam Wilson and Bucky Barnes, but here's hoping.

The first Avengers: Doomsday trailer has finally released online after months of fevered anticipation, and with it the first snippet of Robert Downey Jr.'s performance as Doctor Doom. But despite the many thrilling teases (Loki! Mystique! Herbie!), all anyone can talk about is RDJ's 'Latverian' accent.

The trailer opens with an ominous bit of Doom narration: "Something's coming, something we may not be able to deter. Before this day is done, we should be faced with an unthinkable decision," delivered in pseudo-Eastern European speech. While it's only two sentences, it gives a pretty clear sense of what Downey Jr. is going for with Doom, and it couldn't be more different from his iconic Tony Stark delivery.

"RDJ's Doom voice is actually really good," one fan began on Reddit. "It's like people forgot that RDJ is an actual, serious, versatile, Oscar-caliber actor and not just Tony Stark," added another – a damning statement given it's only 2 years since he swept awards season for his role in Oppenheimer. "His heavy accent made me so happy because I was worried they're just gonna pull a Stark mk.2," notes another, a fair point and one Marvel should get credit for.

Not everyone is convinced, though. "Bro is giving his best Nandor the Relentless," says one fan, landing a near-fatal blow. Nandor, if you don't know, is one of the comedy vampires from What We Do in the Shadows. Let's just say the comparison isn't meant as a compliment. Plenty of fans don't even seem to have realized that is RDJ speaking, which may be a good thing or a bad thing depending on your perspective.

Either way, Downey Jr. and Marvel are clearly taking a big swing with Doctor Doom, who's leading the villainous charge in both Avengers: Doomsday and Avengers: Secret Wars. Tickets for 'Infinity Vision' screenings of the 39th Marvel movie are now on sale, and there's a new Avengers: Doomsday synopsis as well, teasing "an existential threat unlike anything ever encountered" and a film that will "lay the foundation for the future of the Marvel Cinematic Universe."

Alongside Robert Downey Jr., Doomsday's stacked cast includes Chris Hemsworth as Thor, Chris Evans as Steve Rogers, and several Fox-era X-Men, including Patrick Stewart's Professor X, Ian McKellen's Magneto and James Marsden's Cyclops. The new Fantastic Four and Thunderbolts will also appear, as well as the Wakandans and Loki, who is notably not sitting at the base of Yggdrasil in the trailer.

After months and months of waiting, the first official Avengers: Doomsday trailer is finally here, and it looks like a thrilling return to form for the MCU after years of wheel-spinning post-Endgame.

The trailer, which appears to be identical to the one shown behind closed doors at CinemaCon earlier this year, opens with the voice of Doctor Doom himself ominously intoning: "Something's coming, something we may not be able to deter." Clocking in at 2 minutes and 25 seconds, the extensive first glimpse features the Fantastic Four meeting the Wakandans, Yelena facing off against shapeshifting mutant Mystique, Gamit going toe-to-toe with Shang-Chi and, of course, the return of Steve Rogers, who is still worthy of wielding Mjolnir despite hanging up the shield.

Although this isn't the first we have seen of the new movie, after a string of teasers were released earlier this year, the new clip gives us our first real look at the battle against the MCU's newest villain. It seems fitting that the first official Doomsday trailer would hit the internet the same week as San Diego Comic-Con 2026, marking two years since Robert Downey Jr. was unmasked as Doctor Doom. Marvel is due to take over Hall H yet again this year, where we hope to see more of the new Avengers movie.

The trailer arrives not long after the new synopsis appeared on Fandango, teasing the Multiverse Saga's "final chapter" as "beloved heroes from three distinct universes will be set on a deadly collision course and ultimately face an existential threat unlike anything they've ever encountered." The listing states that the new Avengers movie "will lay the foundation for the future of the Marvel Cinematic Universe."

If news of Avengers: Doomsday tickets imminently going on sale and a possible Avengers: Doomsday trailer dropping today weren't enough, Ryan Reynolds has confirmed that "another Deadpool film" is coming, suggesting it will draw closely from "a few deep cuts" from the comics.

Speaking on stage at Fanatics Fest (via @hobbynonsense on Instagram), Reynolds teased an inevitable fourth Deadpool film. "There's a few really deep cuts that are missing from the movies, I think there's a few deep cuts missing from some of the comics," Reynolds said, going on to name-check two comic writers in particular.

"There's certainly some stuff that I love that Fabian [Nicieza] wrote that is incredible. Gerry Duggan is a friend and an incredible comic book writer. There's stuff coming, there eventually will be another Deadpool film." Check out the full clip below (warning: the audio is rough).

That seems pretty cut and dry: while it's yet to be officially announced, according to Reynolds, Deadpool 4 is on the way, and it'll take its cues from the comics. The question, of course, is when we're likely to see the Merc with a Mouth back on screen after a smash-hit trilogy. There was only a two-year gap between Deadpool and Deadpool 2, but Deadpool and Wolverine took 6 years to reach screens, meaning we could be waiting till 2030 for Deadpool 4.

There's every chance we'll see Deadpool on screen again well before Deadpool 4, however. If not in Avengers: Doomsday, then potentially in Avengers: Secret Wars. Doomsday is already bringing several Fox-universe X-Men into the fold, including James Marsden's Cyclops, Patrick Stewart's Professor X, and Ian McKellen's Magneto, so it's not outside the realm of possibility that Wade Wilson could pop up in the movie, which recently revealed an intriguing, universes-colliding synopsis.

Deadpool and Wolverine set up a still unanswered question about Deadpool's future in the MCU: why was Thor crying in mysterious footage from the future? Ryan Reynolds and Chris Hemsworth both know. Could the truth finally be revealed in a future Avengers movie or Deadpool 4? One thing you can bet on: Hugh Jackman will return (probably) as Wolverine, with the actor noting he'll "never say never" to returning as the adamantium-clawed Logan for a 12th time.

As movie theaters prepare for their sites to be crashed by Marvel fans trying to buy Avengers: Doomsday tickets, one chain has posted a brand-new synopsis.

The new Doomsday synopsis, as per Fandango, reads, "Universes collide and the Multiverse Saga begins its final chapter in Marvel Studios' Avengers: Doomsday. Beloved heroes from three distinct universes will be set on a deadly collision course and ultimately face an existential threat unlike anything they've ever encountered. This epic film will lay the foundation for the future of the Marvel Cinematic Universe."

The new description is just cryptic enough, but it reinforces the notion that Doomsday will mark the end of the MCU as we know it and usher in a new age for Marvel cinema. The "threat" in question is seemingly referring to Doctor Doom, played by Robert Downey Jr. But just as Spider-Man: Brand New Day is keeping its villain under lock and key, we suspect Doomsday has something else up its sleeve other than Downey's green-suited baddie.

The upcoming Avengers movie is set to bring back a whole stack of Marvel heroes, from the original Fox-era X-Men, many of whom will be making their MCU debut, to Chris Hemsworth's Thor and Chris Evans' Steve Rogers. A few newbies have made the cut too, such as The Fantastic Four, who will be traveling in from their respective timelines after Doom paid a visit to Reed and Sue's baby. This explains the "three distinct universes" part of the synopsis.

However, the final line, teasing a new era for the MCU, all but confirms what we feared most. That Doomsday will say goodbye to the heroes we know and love to make room for new faces. Many believe the new movie is bringing back Patrick Stewart's Professor X, Ian McKellen's Magneto, and more, just to kill them off. This would make sense, as Marvel is due to introduce a new line of younger mutants in Thunderbolts director Jake Schreier's upcoming X-Men reboot.

The new synopsis has landed just days before Marvel is set to return to Hall H at San Diego Comic-Con 2026, two years after it was revealed in that very room that Iron Man star Downey would return as Doom. Marvel will have to pull something truly spectacular out of the bag this year to beat that, meaning the studio should at least release the first Doomsday trailer. The wait for Avengers: Doomsday is getting more agonizing as Marvel releases an ingenious – and ominous – new tease for the film.

Every week since last August, the Fantastic Four Twitter account has put out a video of Pedro Pascal's Reed Richards saying, "We make a point to do family dinner every week. Sunday at seven, on the dot, no matter what."

But, this most recent Sunday (July 19), the video changed for the very first time. A glitch switches the video to black, and we hear Sue Storm ask "how long do we have left?" Reed responds: "Not long."

It's a cryptic tease, but one that makes it obvious Marvel's First Family are in danger. After all, Robert Downey Jr.'s Doctor Doom was introduced to the MCU in the Fantastic Four post-credits scene, so it makes sense that they might be in serious peril. Here's hoping they can pull through…

Along with the Fantastic Four, the rest of the supersized Doomsday cast includes the Thunderbolts, the Fox-era X-Men, and the likes of Chris Hemsworth's Thor, Anthony Mackie's Captain America, and Letitia Wright's Shuri.

"There are a lot of surprises in this. And I think [Doomsday is] the most emotionally complex of all of them," Joe Russo has previously teased of the movie. "And in a lot of ways, the most mature of all of them."

If you weren't already planning on taking a trip to the movie theater this weekend to see The Odyssey, then you might want to think again, as a new Spider-Man: Brand New Day trailer has been released, but you can only see it on the big screen.

The new trailer, which has been leaked online, offers a deeper look at Tom Holland's Peter Parker as he navigates a world where no one knows who he really is, including his best friend Ned and his girlfriend MJ. The video contains a flashback to Parker's budding relationships in Homecoming, Far From Home, and finally No Way Home, when he promised MJ he would come find her after her memory was wiped. But in Brand New Day, it looks like he's still working up the courage to tell her the truth.

It makes sense that Sony would choose to show the final trailer in cinemas, as many Spider-Man fans will be going to see Holland and Zendaya in Christopher Nolan's The Odyssey, which has just hit screens. With the ancient Greek epic now out in theaters, there are only two more weeks to wait until we see Holland swap Telemachus' spacious villa in Ithaca for Parker's cramped New York City apartment.

Later in the trailer, Trammell Tillman's character warns Spidey of a new threat "that could be anyone." In the next frame, Spider-Man is fighting Scorpion and says, "Are you sure you want to do this, Scorpion?" to which the villain replies, "You think I'm Scorpion?" This confirms what past trailers have teased: that Brand New Day's villain is some kind of invisible mind-controller using other comic book baddies as their puppets.

Many fans believe that the villain in question is mutant Jean Grey, who may or may not be played by Stranger Things star Sadie Sink. Grey is one of the most powerful Marvel heroes of all time, with telepathic and telekinetic abilities. The future member fo the X-Men has also been known to shift to the dark side every now and again, becoming a hub for dark energy, as we saw in the 2006 film X-Men: The Last Stand and 2016's Dark Phoenix.

With that in mind, Grey may be the mastermind behind Brand New Day's antagonistic army, including Boomerang, The Hand, and more. However, the Brand New Day synopsis teases a villain that "no one can see," and Holland has confirmed that the villain is still very much a secret. With that on top of Sink's mystery character and Mark Ruffalo's Bruce Banner, who seems to be going full-on Savage Hulk in the new trailer, Parker really has his work cut out for him this time.

As we get closer to seeing our favorite MCU heroes once again in Avengers: Doomsday, Marvel fans are wondering how the new film will handle continuity issues regarding old Steve Rogers, brought up in the last Avengers movie.

"One thing I've been wondering about is Old Steve Rogers," said one fan on Reddit. "I'm not asking whether he'll appear in the movie. I'm more curious about what happens to his character and how Marvel is going to address him. I just can't wrap my head around his existence."

At the end of Avengers: Endgame, Steve Rogers takes the Infinity Stones back to their respective timelines. But, instead of travelling back to the present time, he goes to the '40s to be with Peggy Carter. This means that when he catches up to the present, he is an old man. At the end of the 2019 movie, we see old man Rogers pass on his shield and mantle to Anthony Mackie's Sam Wilson as the next Captain America.

With this, fans are wondering if old man Rogers will appear, as in the Rogers-themed teaser, he is young, played once again by Chris Evans. Many others said Marvel may just ignore the whole plot point, with one adding, "They barely addressed the blip." Another added, "Poor Sam is going to spend the whole movie explaining there's more than one Steve running around the multiverse."

However, one fan suggested that old man Rogers may be addressed in the upcoming Avengers: Endgame rerelease, adding, "they said they have added new scenes to 'bridge' to Doomsday." The fan is correct, as just under two months before Doomsday hits cinemas, Marvel is showing Endgame again on the big screen, with new footage, deleted scenes, and a special ending.

Although the comic book studio hasn't given anything away so far, it is thought that the new ending will lead into Doomsday and explain why certain characters are able to return. Oh, and there's also the matter of why the movie's villain, Doctor Doom, looks exactly like the late Tony Stark, due to Robert Downey Jr playing both characters, which the Russos say will be addressed.

Robert Downey Jr. had an iconic response to getting cast in Avengers: Doomsday. The actor, who famously bowed out as Tony Stark in Avengers: Endgame, was called by Kevin Feige with the news.

"His exact words were: 'I played the best hero, I can play the best villain,'" Feige revealed at the Bilibili World 2026 convention in Shanghai, China. What a response, right?

Now, we can get into an argument about whether or not Iron Man is the "best hero" in the MCU (for what it's worth, I agree), but what's got me most excited is that Downey Jr. thinks Doom will be the "best villain". There have been some iconic baddies in the MCU so far, including Thanos, Ultron, and pre-redeemed Loki.

However, ever since Marvel announced Doom as the next big bad, I've been really excited about how they'll tackle him. Not only is he an iconic comic book villain that we haven't seen in the MCU before, but casting Downey Jr. in the role is inspired.

We know the Oscar-winner will bring his talent to the role with his ease of navigating between comedy and drama effortlessly. But the fact that he'll share a physical resemblance with Stark, a character who means so much to the other Avengers, is going to add some darkness to this portrayal.

We know it will be addressed too, with the Russos teasing it will be part of the Doomsday storyline. "No better actor in the world than Robert Downey," Joe Russo said about the characters looking the same. "I'm not going to give away anything. It will all make sense when you watch the movies."

Despite Marvel's highs and lows in recent years, I'm really excited to see how this all plays out in the new movie. December 17 can't come soon enough.

Spider-Man: Brand New Day is only a few weeks out but there's still a whole lot that we don't know about this movie. There's been no confirmation on the main villain, Sadie Sink's character is not confirmed, and now it seems like the title is hiding another cryptic clue.

Speaking as part of a new documentary called 'Generations: The Evolution of Spider-Men', which is out on Disney Plus in the US, Peter Parker star Tom Holland explained more. "The Brand New Day of this movie – it isn't the beginning, it's in the last frame of this movie," he teased (via Twitter user SpiderManCD).

Right… Well, what does that mean? In our eyes, it certainly seems that Spider-Man 4 will be setting up something of a twist ending. At least, it may tease something big about Parker's future, both personally and in the MCU.

As it stands, it's not really clear what's next for Holland's character after this entry. We still don't know if he'll appear in Avengers: Doomsday and even though he is heavily rumored for Avengers: Secret Wars, nothing has been confirmed.

Speaking recently, Spider-Man producer Amy Pascal did tease that she was hoping that Brand New Day is the start of a new trilogy. "I never want to be so presumptuous as to say anything is going to be a trilogy or more than one. That would be my dream, of course, but you never know," she told SFX Magazine. "Because the truth is that the rule that we set for ourselves is to take it one movie at a time. It's important to us that you don't have to see one movie to see the other movie."

We don't have too long to wait to find out exactly what Holland is talking about as Spider-Man: Brand New Day swings into theaters on July 29 in the UK and July 31 in the US. The new film begins after Doctor Strange removed the world's memory of who the real Spider-Man is. Setting out on his own, Parker must face a new villain who he can't see in the latest Marvel movie.

After decades of superhero movies and shows dominating our screens, it's easy to forget why we fell in love with the comic book world in the first place, but a new teaser for Spider-Man: Brand New Day reminds us what the genre is really about.

In a new video created by stop motion artist Angelink Films over on Instagram, we see a Spider-Man figurine shooting webs and flying through the air before he faces off with a Punisher action figure. This is the usual kind of content the artist and superhero fan makes. But right at the end of the clip, we are treated to an appearance from Tom Holland and Bernthal, holding their respective figurines. Check out the video below.

Now, although the new video doesn't really give anything away in terms of plot details for Brand New Day, it has to be one of our favourite teasers yet. The clip captures the childlike wonder and nostalgia of the superhero genre, reminding us of when we were children and first got into Marvel comics, movies, and toys.

Marvel fans seem to agree. "My 12-year-old self is screaming with joy for this!," commented one fan, and another added, "This is quite possibly the coolest thing I’ve ever seen."

This is not the first time Brand New Day has leaned into including superhero fans in movie marketing. Sony decided to release the first Spider-Man: Brand New Day trailer in short snippets posted by a number of content creators across social media. Tom Holland then unveiled the final product at the top of the Empire State Building, where he was joined by a bunch of Spider-Man-mad kids.

However, aside from the cutesy marketing, Spider-Man: Brand New Day won't be all sunshine and rainbows. Holland's fourth Spider-Man movie finds Peter Parker in his darkest era yet. After Doctor Strange wiped the whole world's memory of who Spider-Man really is, Parker has no friends, family, or girlfriend, so he throws himself fully into crimefighting. But when a new villain poses a huge threat to the city, Spidey has no choice but to suit up and save the day once again.

Alongside Holland and Bernthal, Brand New Day welcomes back Zendaya as MJ, Jacob Batalon as Ned Leeds, and adds Mark Ruffalo as Brce Banner/ Hulk, and Sadie Sink in a mystery role, although fans are convinced she is playing Jean Grey.

Robert Downey Jr. is returning to the MCU not as Tony Stark, but as the fearsome Doctor Doom in the upcoming Avengers: Doomsday.

However, it sounds like the resemblance between Doom and Tony won't be a coincidence, but will actually factor into the movie.

"No better actor in the world than Robert Downey," Joe Russo told Soundsphere, when asked about Downey Jr., and Tony and Doom looking the same. "I'm not going to give away anything. It will all make sense when you watch the movies.

"What we love about telling these stories is that they're serialised. This is a giant experiment," he continued. "Nobody's ever done anything like this before. Marvel's unique. You're taking all these different franchises and combining them into overarching stories. If you're a fan of the comics like I was, I still have my comic book collection. I'm 54 years old and the idea of… That's shifting and changing and surprising you and then reinventing itself and then shifting and changing and then surprising you. That's exciting.

"So get ready for it. We were with Robert earlier and we're both talking about this concept that we are back to phase zero. This is starting over from scratch. We want to make sure everybody feels like we're not leaning on anything from the past. This is going to be a you’ll see when you see the movie, a complete new direction," he concluded.

Added Anthony Russo: "You know what an incredible performer Robert is, and it's a brand new character that you can't even guess at."

Rumors are swirling that Adam Driver could be joining the MCU as Magneto – and Marvel fans are into it.

Now, the rumor comes from two scoopers, so take it with a grain of salt. The role of Magneto was previously played by Ian McKellen and Michael Fassbender, but the MCU will soon be rebooting with a new movie.

Whether it's true or not, though, fans like the idea. "If he's Magneto, that's a terrific choice. Adam Driver is a great actor and he's excellent at playing complicated villains. Whatever issues the Sequels had, he was never one of them. Kylo Ren was a highlight of the sequel trilogy for me," says one person on Reddit.

"If this is true, I'm super down with this. Despite the fumble that the new Star Wars trilogy ended up being, I thought he was absolutely a standout of those movies," says someone else. "I know some people didn't love the character, but I actually really liked the idea of a primadonna villain that is driven to the dark side by the fear of his own inadequacy and the fear that he can never live up to the standard of his idol and predecessor. And Adam Driver made it super interesting to watch. I bet he could make a really compelling Magneto."

"Hadn't even considered it but man Adam Driver would be an absolutely fantastic Magneto and definitely young enough to be able to carry forward the role for a good chunk of time. Really really hope he is Magneto cause that is a primo pick," is another person's thoughts.

However, some fans are hoping for a different character for Driver instead. "Sinister. Please let him be Mr Sinister. The character has been teased for so long, and there's all the time in the world to do Magneto later. Driver would be awesome as a Victorian-as-fuck evolution/mutation-obsessed mad scientist. Please let him be Mr Sinister," asks one fan.

"Mister Sinister," says someone else, while another says: "He would make a GREAT Sinister," and yet another says: "I think he'd be better as a Mr. Sinister or Trask."

We likely have a little while longer yet to find out more about the MCU X-Men reboot, considering the Fox-era cast are returning for Avengers: Doomsday, including McKellen's Magneto.

Loki and Avengers: Doomsday writer Michael Waldron is reportedly sticking around in the MCU for an upcoming Nova movie.

As per Deadline, a Nova movie will be written – and potentially directed – by Waldron, who has written or co-written Loki, Avengers: Doomsday, and Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness for Marvel Studios.

In the comics, spacebound character Richard Rider is brought into the Nova Corps, complete with powers of flight and access to the all-powerful Nova Force.

There had been previous attempts to get a Nova project off the ground at Marvel Studios, with one prevailing rumor being that Ryan Gosling was approached about starring as the character. The actor, who led his own cosmic adventure earlier this year in Project Hail Mary, shot down the rumors in 2022 during an interview on Happy Sad Confused, instead going all-in on wanting to play Ghost Rider.

News of a Nova movie also means Marvel's post-Avengers: Doomsday plans are starting to take shape. There is Avengers: Secret Wars in 2027, an X-Men movie in the near future and now, potentially, Nova taking flight in the MCU. There are currently three 2028 slots in May, July, and December being held for 'Untitled Marvel Movies'. Could Nova be one of them?

Before then, the MCU is swinging back into cinemas with Spider-Man: Brand New Day on July 31 and Avengers: Doomsday, which stars Robert Downey Jr. as supervillain Doctor Doom, on December 18.

The Avengers: Doomsday runtime has seemingly been released several months ahead of the Marvel movie's release. According to The Hollywood Reporter, the movie has a current length of two hours and 45 minutes.

The news comes as early ticket sales for the hugely anticipated MCU film are set to start next week, five months ahead of release.

It's important to note that this may not be the final runtime of the movie as it's not yet locked. However, as the trade points out, it will not be able to shift too much as it's in line with theater schedules.

This runtime means that Doomsday is clocking in at the second-longest Avengers movie in the MCU history. The first two (The Avengers and Avengers: Age of Ultron) clocked in at around the two hours and 20 minutes mark, meanwhile Avengers: Infinity War had a runtime of two hours and 29 minutes. The longest Avengers movie was Avengers: Endgame at three hours and one minute.

Marvel fans have been reacting to the news, and it's fair to say it's caused a bit of a divide among the community. "2 hours 46 minutes, that feels like a good run time imo," one wrote on Reddit as another added: "That runtime is great news, and honestly throws fuel on the fire regarding the rumors of a third Avengers film to cap the saga. Infinity War was much shorter, and there's no way Secret Wars can pack all that it needs in 3 hours."

Meanwhile others were hoping it might be a little longer. "2h 46m is too short considering all the stuff it needs to set up lol," added one as another agreed, pointing out: "Not long enough. Should be 3 hours with all these characters lol."

Indeed, the Avengers: Doomsday cast is pretty huge. Already confirmed are several of the X-Men Fox-era cast, the OG Avengers, the new era Avengers, the Fantastic Four cast, and Robert Downey Jr. as Victor Von Doom. However, before she returns to the big screen in December, it sounds as though the anti-hero may dip into the MCU a little sooner than expected.

"If you're a fan of Yelena, wait until Avengers: Doomsday, Yelena plays a big part in that. But if you don't want to wait until then, you might see Yelena a little bit sooner in the movies,” said Marvel head Kevin Feige at Shanghai Expo in China, after a fan dressed as the hero joined him on stage. The clip has since been posted on Twitter.

However, the only other Marvel movie due to be released before Doomsday is Spider-Man: Brand New Day, which will hit the big screen at the end of July, 2026. So, that means that in addition to Jon Bernthal's Punisher, Mark Ruffalo's Bruce Banner aka Hulk, and Sadie Sink's mystery character, Pugh's former spy may also be in the mix.

It is important to note that Marvel Studios has yet to confirm whether Pugh will appear in Brand New Day. But, considering the Marvel timeline, Brand New Day may lead directly into Doomsday, meaning Yelena could appear in a post-credits teaser that sets up the new Avengers movie. The only other Marvel Phase 6 title set to release before Doomsday is TV show VisionQuest.

Feige's comment adds yet another layer of mystery to the upcoming Spidey movie. Despite the film hitting cinemas in just over two weeks, we still don't know who the movie's main big bad is. The first Spider-Man Brand New Day trailer gave us our first look at baddies Scorpion, Boomerang, and The Hand, but the new synopsis teased a villain that no one can see. Who could that be? Plus, we still don't know who Sadie Sink is playing, despite fans being convinced that the star will suit up as Jean Grey.

After months of secrecy surrounding Avengers: Doomsday, Marvel Studios has revealed the first full look at the movie's lineup in costume – but we can't help but focus on those who aren't included in the debut artwork.

As revealed at Shanghai Expo, the illustration shows a masked Doctor Doom front and center, flanked by Chris Evans' Steve Rogers and Pedro Pascal's Reed Richards. Below, are the legacy X-Men characters set to appear in Avengers: Doomsday, while the rest is segmented into various groups – including the Fantastic Four, the New Avengers, Wakandans, as well as a scattering of OG Avengers like Thor and Ant-Man. Former Marvel Studios director of visual development Andy Park – who left in April after a round of Disney layoffs – tweeted, "AVENGERS: DOOMSDAY - the final full film I had the honor of leading as Director of Visual Development at Marvel Studios. This illustration commemorates that journey & reveals the characters & their looks for the first time."

Despite that, there are several notable absentees. Doctor Strange, Spider-Man, Captain Marvel, Deadpool, and Wolverine have each been major parts of the MCU, but seemingly won't factor into Avengers: Doomsday if this art is any indication.

The actors behind those heroes also weren't part of the Doomsday cast reveal last March, so we have to hope Kevin Feige is hiding more secrets and spoilers under his baseball cap before December.

Confusion reigned last year with Doctor Strange actor Benedict Cumberbatch spoiling his presence in Doomsday. Just days later, he walked it back. Instead, he "got it wrong" and would be in the 2027 follow-up Avengers: Secret Wars.

Despite that, Nightcrawler actor Alan Cumming, also returning for Avengers: Doomsday, told Deadline, there are "secret names" in each script "because they didn't want to let out that a certain character was coming back." The plot thickens…

Tom Holland's Peter Parker will soon be swinging into his fourth MCU solo movie, Spider-Man: Brand New Day.

Nothing about Spidey's future beyond this Marvel Phase 6 movie has been confirmed yet. But, by the sounds of things, if producer Amy Pascal gets her way, this could be the first of a fresh era for the wallcrawler.

"Ever since we’ve been making Spider-Man movies with Marvel and the MCU, it has opened up a wealth of opportunity for us," she told SFX magazine. "Because in the comics, he does interact with all these characters. So that's been a wonderful opportunity.

"I never want to be so presumptuous as to say anything is going to be a trilogy or more than one. That would be my dream, of course, but you never know," she added. "Because the truth is that the rule that we set for ourselves is to take it one movie at a time. It's important to us that you don't have to see one movie to see the other movie."

Spider-Man: Brand New Day puts Peter Parker up against a mystery enemy, with the help of Jon Bernthal's Punisher and Mark Ruffalo's Hulk. In the No Way Home ending, the world forgot Peter Parker, which means his friends, Zendaya's MJ and Jacob Batalon's Ned, don't remember him.

Spider-Man: Brand New Day brings Tom Holland's Peter Parker back for a new adventure. Set after the harrowing events of No Way Home, the world has forgotten who he is but that doesn't mean the threats have stopped as a new invisible villain is lurking in the shadows.

The latest movie marks the fourth outing for Holland's webslinger, who straddles the world of Sony's Marvel universe and the MCU. However, he's by no means the only Spidey-adjacent character on our screens. There are the Spider-Verse animated movies, Nicolas Cage's variant in Spider-Noir, and there's the Venom, Madame Web, and Morbius movies too.

Speaking in the new issue of SFX magazine, producer Amy Pascal teased that she thinks there are plenty more stories to tell in this universe too, but they have to be justified.

"You don't want to just keep exploiting the same character," Pascal explained. "I think that would make it unspecial for the world. So there are other things in the Spider-Man universe that I think are really fun for us to explore, because the comics were so varied and so creative. I think Peter Parker should exist in live action, and I love what we're doing with Miles in the animated movies. We just have to be really careful that we're being smart about all this."

At the moment, the only other Spider-Man movie that's confirmed is the upcoming third film in the Spider-Verse trilogy, Beyond the Spider-Verse. There are some more animated stories being developed based around Spider-Punk and Spider-Gwen and it's unclear whether Holland will be back again as Parker in the future.

It seems only time – and potentially the events of Brand New Day – will tell what's next with the character on our screens.

Do we all know who Sadie Sink is playing in Spider-Man: Brand New Day? The common consensus is that the Stranger Things star will be portraying X-Men icon Jean Grey in the MCU – with Marvel Studios and Sony largely keeping schtum on any speculation.

Of course, we've been here before. The lead-up to Spider-Man: No Way Home was filled with virtual column inches and frenzied social media chatter about Tobey Maguire and Andrew Garfield's Spider-Men swinging in from their corner of the multiverse. That, as we now know, turned out to be true.

Now, Spider-Man producer Amy Pascal has compared the two, suggesting that the spoiler lockdown on the identity of Sadie Sink's character is due to keeping the audience in suspense for as long as possible.

"When we had the three Spideys in the last movie, and it was the worst-kept secret in Hollywood, everybody sort of pretended not to know, but knew," Pascal said in the new issue of SFX magazine.

Pascal added, "I think people love to be surprised. They don’t really want to know everything. They want the experience of what movies give you, which is shock and awe and surprise. So I think in the same way that we’ve been really disciplined, I think that’s what the audience is also craving."

Sink previously confirmed that Brand New Day was completely under wraps, to the point where she wasn't even handed a script until she landed in London for filming. The actor has also been bemused by the sheer amount of chatter surrounding her role, admitting she "didn't realize" there would be such a conversation around the identity of the mystery character.
