There's no studio more secretive than Marvel. Case in point – Spider-Man: Brand New Day star Sadie Sink reportedly wasn't given a script until she landed in London to shoot the Spidey sequel.

In a new conversation with Nylon, the culture brand claims that despite being offered the (still mysterious) role in Spider-Man: Brand New Day without an audition, the Stranger Things alum "didn't receive a script until she landed in London."

It's not clear if Sink read a script prior to receiving her own copy, as Sink isn't quoted directly on the matter in the piece, but either way, it's further evidence that Marvel is taking no chances in letting the secrets of Brand New Day slip before it releases at the end of the month.

Despite the second Spider-Man: Brand New Day trailer leaking a week before it eventually dropped online, Marvel Studios and Sony have done a good job keeping the movie's finer details in the shadows. We still don't actually know who Sink is playing in the movie. All the signs point to future member of the X-Men, Jean Grey, but we have our own theories as well.

Sink, not realizing how much speculation there would be, has spent the bulk of the Spider-Man: Brand New Day press tour so far on deflection duty, fending off questions about the identity of her mystery character. Over eight years on Stranger Things at least prepped her for the responsibility of staying schtum, with Sink telling Nylon that the key to keeping a secret is: “You just don’t share the secret. It’s not that hard.” Tom Holland, take note.

With less than a month to go till Brand New Day releases, Holland recently revealed that the movie's ultimate villain is still a secret. "The villain that we have in this new movie, which is still very much a secret, is, I think, unlike anything we've seen in one of these movies before."

X-Men '97 season 2 is almost upon us, and we can definitely expect another high-stakes, heartbreaking, and action-packed season.

After the X-Men were left stranded across time at the end of season 1, a new threat was introduced: Apocalypse. The ultra-powerful mutant is robotic in appearance but god-like in his abilities, to the point where it almost hits immortality. How did we get here? Well, a lot happened in X-Men '97 season 1. And, if you don't have time to go back and watch all 10 episodes, we've made a handy-dandy list of the most important things to know before diving into season 2.

Scroll on down for the five biggest things to remember before watching X-Men '97 season 2, but be warned: there are massive spoilers for X-Men '97 season 1 below.

1. The X-Men are stuck in three different timelines

And it's all because of Magneto. It's also why everyone on Earth thinks that the X-Men are either dead or missing. At the end of X-Men '97 season 1, Magneto manages to wipe out all of the Prime Sentinels (while killing thousands of people in the process) and retreats to his little mutant haven, an orbital space station known as Asteroid M. Bastion, still yet to be defeated, decides to crash Asteroid M into the earth... which would effectively blow up the planet. Xavier manages to help Magneto launch the asteroid into space, but it still explodes, and presumably takes the X-Men with it.

A six-month fast-forward shows us that Bishop and Forge are still in 1997, but Nightcrawler, Beast, Xavier, Magneto, and Rogue are sent to somewhere in Ancient Egypt circa 3000 B.C., while Cyclops, Jean Grey, Storm, and Morph are sent to a dystopian future circa 3960 A.D. X-Men '97 season 2 picks up right where season 1 left off.

2. Scott and Jean sent their son Nathan into the future because of his condition

In the X-Men '97 season 1 finale, when Cyclops and Jean are sent to the future, they meet a mystic mutant named Mother Askani, who is leading a desolate planet of hopeless people. This also just so happens to be the same future that their son, Nathan, was sent to as an infant. Shortly after he was born, Sinister injected him with a techno-organic virus with the intention of making him immortal, but it ended up almost killing him.

Realizing that there is no cure on Earth, they send him into the future with Bishop in the hopes that they can find a timeline with a cure. In the finale, Nathan is a teenager and seems pretty healthy... though we know that his cyborg-esque mutation remains, given that he eventually becomes the X-Men hero known as Cable. It's Cable who appears in X-Men '97 season 1 episode 5 and tries to warn them about Bastion's genocidal attack on Genosha.

It's important to remember that Nathan eventually becomes Cable, though it's a little confusing that Cyclops and Jean go into the future and encounter a teenage Nathan, rather than an adult Cable – meaning they've entered an alternate timeline of sorts.

3. Gambit died in the Battle of Genosha

I'm still not over it, but Gambit died during the Battle of Genosha in X-Men '97 season 1 episode 5. He throws Rogue out of harm's way before launching himself at Master Mold, the most powerful of the Prime Sentinels, which explodes and takes Gambit with it. Because of Marvel Cinematic Universe rules (though X-Men '97 is not canon to the main Earth-616 storyline), a lot of us sat and waited for him to miraculously return someway or another... but he still, sadly, seems pretty dead.

A popular theory among fans is that the show will take a page out of the comics and see Gambit brought back from the dead to become one of Apocalypse's Four Horsemen. The X-Men '97 season 1 post-credits scene gives this further credibility, with the final moments of the season seeing Apocalypse pick up one of Gambit's playing cards in present-day (1997) Genosha.

X-Men '97 season 2 episode 8 is titled, 'The Dead Man's Hand,' and I'm pretty sure that's a reference to Gambit... so we'll just have to wait and see.

4. Magneto pulled the adamantium out of Wolverine

Though Wolverine seems alive and well in the X-Men '97 season 2 trailer, it's important to remember that he was on his deathbed when the first season ended. In case you forgot, X-Men '97 began with the X-Men and the world assuming that Xavier had died as a result of Gyrich's assassination attempt (which happened in the series finale of X-Men: The Animated Series, which aired on TV in, you guessed it, 1997). In his last will and testament, Xavier leaves the X-Men and the X-Mansion to Magneto, which causes a rift amongst the entire group.

Magneto tries his best to be an upstanding citizen, but is captured by Bastion. It's Dr. Cooper who finds Magneto and unleashes him, figuring that he's the only being powerful enough to kill Bastion and the Prime Sentinels. She's right, but it destroys most of the world in the process. After Magneto flees to Asteroid M, Xavier, alive and well after hiding out on an alien planet, finds him and tries to get into his mind. Magneto retaliates by almost killing Xavier, which prompts Wolverine to attack. Magneto then uses his freaky-deaky magnet powers to rip all of the adamantium from Wolverine's skeleton, leaving him in a half-dead, feral state where he can really only use his bone claws. X-Men '97 season 2 episode 5, titled 'Weapon X, Lies, and DVDS,' will likely focus on Wolverine.

5. The future where Apocalypse reigns is inevitable

I can't tell you exactly why this is important to remember, other than that Apocalypse is the primary focus of X-Men '97 season 2, but you'll just have to trust me on this one. In the X-Men '97 season 1 finale, we meet not one, but two versions of Apocalypse. In Ancient Egypt, where Xavier, Magneto, Rogue, and Nightcrawler are trapped, they encounter a mutant named En Sabah Nur. En Sabah Nur is the birth name of Apocalypse, and this particular timeline is one where he hasn't transformed into a supervillain just yet. We see Apocalypse in his present-day form in the post-credits scene, when he picks Gambit's playing card up off the ground.

In the season 2 trailer, Apocalypse makes it clear that his mission is to destroy the X-Men... in every timeline. It's important to note that he more or less can't be killed, which is what makes his reign of terror inevitable throughout time.

Before creator Tony Gilroy got involved and turned Andor into a thrillingly rich, thematically nuanced masterpiece, the Star Wars show was initially in the hands of Disney animation boss Jared Bush, and a new art book has revealed the Zootopia director's original take on the material.

As spotted by Cinelinx, new coffee table book The Art of Star Wars: Andor contains Bush's original pitch for the Star Wars show, taken from his 2018 series bible, and it reveals a radically different version of Andor that never was.

“The fledgling Rebellion experiences a crippling setback when an Imperial mole hidden within its ranks decimates a series of rebel bases. Cassian Andor, a young intelligence operative, is one of the few who survive, only to be falsely accused of being the mole himself. Out in the cold, Cassian discovers the only way to clear his name and find the mole is to infiltrate an Imperial planet which holds the key to uncovering the mole's identity.”

While this concept for the show retains the core idea of Andor being an espionage-powered story set in a galaxy far, far away, Bush's Andor would have been very different from the two-season show we got under Gilroy's stewardship. Instead of a simple mole hunt, Gilroy shaped Andor into a show about political oppression and resistance that mirrored real-world events to an almost eerie degree.

Andor was originally revealed in November 2018 after roughly a year of development. Initially, The Americans' executive producer Stephen Schiff was brought on board as showrunner, after Bush contributed a pilot script and series bible. Gilroy, who reportedly oversaw Rogue One's extensive reshoots, later shared his own vision for Andor with Kathleen Kennedy by penning a letter to the former head of Lucasfilm. Kennedy was evidently impressed, as Gilroy officially came on board in 2019.

The two-season show ran from 2022 to 2025 and is widely considered one of the high points of the Disney era of Star Wars. We even named Andor season 2 the best show of 2025. Gilroy provided some insights into the beloved show in our season 2 post-mortem, and even dispelled a fan theory around one of the finale's most ambiguous moments.

As for Bush, Andor may have slipped through his fingers, but the filmmaker had a pretty good 2025 too – he was the director of the highest-grossing Hollywood movie of the year, Zootopia 2, after becoming the chief creative officer of Disney Animation in late 2024.

I never really saw Mickey Mouse as a gearhead, but the new Disney F1 collection proves that he's ready to get onto the track. Or at the very least, boot up a session of Mario Kart. (He'd be a menace with red shells, I can tell.)

Because the company's mascot doesn't do things by halves, there's a fleet of goodies included in the Disney F1 merch collection; Mickey's racing our way with more than a pitstop's worth of hats, shirts, pins, and plushies. Seeing as there's much of it, and I spend a lot of time hunting down the best toys or collectibles (particularly Disney gear), I've rounded up my favorite bits here. I'm a big fan of the Velocity Mickey Mouse Crossbody Bag at the Disney Store and its accompanying baseball cap, for instance. While the price is a little higher than I'd like (something that's true of the range in general, but to be expected from such a high-profile crossover), the shimmering material is beautiful with its reflective shades of orange and blue. Actually, it reminds me of the rainbow-esque, iridescent look oil or gasoline can have in certain lights.

Anyway, there are plenty of other goodies with a similarly enchanting design on the Disney Store, including Disney Store UK - and I say that as someone who's not even the biggest fan of F1. In much the same way, the F1 store is crammed with gear that's genuinely taken me aback with how nice it looks; it doesn't just feel as though Mickey's been slapped on a bomber jacket. A lot of care seems to have gone into the collection, which is what I like to see from crossovers like this.

Spider-Man star Tom Holland wants to see Miles Morales make his MCU debut.

While Miles is the main character of the animated Spider-Verse movies – and his uncle, played by Donald Glover, appeared in Spider-Man: Homecoming – he has never appeared in the live-action MCU.

"I think at this point in time, we're being really open minded about what the future looks like," Holland told Hobby Consolas. "I know that I have aspirations to bring Miles Morales into the universe, however that works out. We've got a lot of work to do to bring that to life.

"But, yeah, I feel really strongly about – I feel incredibly grateful for the way I was introduced into this world and that I was shepherded by RDJ [Robert Downey Jr.]," he continued. "And I would love to kind of return that favor to the next generation of people that get the luxury of making these movies. So, that is definitely something that I'm really working towards."

This isn't the first time Holland has shared such a sentiment, either. "For whoever's next, whether that is a Miles Morales or a Spider-Gwen or a Spider-Woman or something like that, I would love to be a part of setting up the next chapter," he previously commented. "Whatever that looks like, I don't know. But if I could do what Downey did for me, then I would be so content swinging off into the sunset."

Holland will next play Peter Parker in Spider-Man: Brand New Day, starring opposite the likes of Jon Bernthal's Punisher, Mark Ruffalo's Hulk, and Sadie Sink's mystery character (though Marvel fans are convinced she's playing Jean Grey).

Good news Marvel fans, it sounds as though you won't have to wait two plus years for X-Men '97 season 3, as you did for season 2.

"Luckily, the production problems won’t occur again. There was a huge gap of time between [season] one and two. They’ve learned their lessons," said producer Larry Houston in an interview with The Direct. "So with [seasons] three and four, that won’t happen again… That was a one-off."

Season 1 landed on Disney Plus in March 2024 to glowing reviews, scoring a pretty much perfect 99% score on Rotten Tomatoes. In our X-Men '97 season 1 review, we awarded the freshman season 4.5 out of 5 stars, calling it "a seamlessly connected revival season that serves as a near-perfect reintroduction to one of Marvel’s best superhero teams."

The animated show was quickly renewed after that. But X-Men '97 Season 2 won't air until July 2026. That's over two years to wait for an animated series. However, Houston, who directed the original X-Men animated series back in the '90s, says the wait will be well worth it. "Trust me, as a fan, you will enjoy it," stated the producer. The second season has not hit Disney Plus just yet, but we have awarded it 4 stars in our X-Men '97 season 2 review.

Picking up from season 1's cliffhanger, X-Men '97 season 2 finds Cyclops, Jean Grey, Rogue, Beast, Nightcrawler, Charles Xavier, and Magneto scattered across time. But as the mutans must find a way home, back in the '90s, suspicious foes and new strains of mutant intolerance are on the rise in the wake of the X-Men's absence.

Beyond that, season 3 is already in production, and X-Men '97 season 4 has already been greenlit. But how quickly will Marvel be able to deliver the new seasons to the small screen? Whilst on The Escape Pod earlier this year, Head of Marvel TV Brad Winderbaum confirmed that both X-Men '97 and Your Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Man will get new seasons "every year moving forward."

Live-action Ezra Bridger actor Eman Esfandi has posted a cryptic tease for Ahsoka season 2.

Esfandi made his live-action debut in the first season of the show, and he'll soon be returning when the show airs on Disney Plus early next year.

"'The pain you're feeling cannot compare to the joy that is coming' I tell myself as I await season 2," Esfandi wrote on Twitter.

The tease is so mysterious that even the official Star Wars account doesn't seem to know what to make of it, simply replying: "Eman"

Esfandi had a response, however: "Should've left that in the drafts my b"

At the end of Ahsoka season 1, Ezra safely made it back to the main galaxy by stowing away on Grand Admiral Thrawn's ship. But, Ahsoka Tano and Sabine Wren were left behind, along with Baylan Skoll and Shin Hati.

So far, Ahsoka season 2 is shrouded in mystery. What we know for sure, though, is that Hayden Christensen will return as Anakin Skywalker, Admiral Ackbar will face off against Thrawn, Rory McCann is taking over as Baylan from the late Ray Stevenson, and there will be battles across two galaxies.

"Anybody who saw the sequels knows that there's a First Order coming in, like, 20 years from where we are now in the storyline," The Mandalorian and Grogu director Jon Favreau has teased of the second Ahsoka season. "And then Ahsoka season 2 is coming out – which I've seen all of – and that's definitely more dealing with the larger [picture], a higher level. That's about the officers and we're the enlisted men – this is more of a ground-level experience of what's going on. You're seeing the backdrop – which, by the way, is what the first Star Wars started off as."

Spider-Man: Brand New Day may not be far away from arriving in theaters but a lot is still unknown about the latest entry in the webbed franchise. Understandably, this has led to a whole load of theorizing from Marvel fans, keen to try and work out what exactly the Marvel Phase 6 movie's big surprises are – and it turns out some of them are actually right.

"Some of the wildest fan theories are like weirdly accurate to what is happening in the movie," Holland told Vanity Fair France. "I feel like I don't want to give any fuel to the flames before the movie comes out." Holland, who has given away some pretty big reveals in the past then added when he was pushed on which ones, "I can't my lips are sealed."

Zendaya agreed, adding to the publication that some fans have been absolutely "spot on" with their ideas. "What Tom and I enjoy is looking at people's fan theories and thinking some are spot on, some are really far off and some have really great ideas," she added. "I'm not sure I can think of any off the top of my head but people are very creative. "

Now, we're racking our brains about what theories Holland and Zendaya might be referring to here as a lot of mysteries still exist around the movie. Chief among them are two questions: who is Sadie Sink playing and who is the movie's main villain?

A lot of speculation, ever since the Stranger Things star was announced, have suggested that Sink will be playing X-Men star Jean Grey. However, the latest trailer only showed a glimpse at her character and it's still not entirely clear who exactly she is.

Meanwhile, Holland recently confirmed that the movie's final villain still has not been confirmed. "The villain that we have in this new movie, which is still very much a secret, is, I think, unlike anything we've seen in one of these movies before," Holland teased to ProSieben.

There are plenty of adversaries that have been teased, including The Hand, Scorpion, Tombstone, Boomerang, Tarantula, and Ramrod. However, it seems none of these will be the main big bad that Holland's Spidey will face.

Back in 2020, The Mandalorian season 2 broke the internet when it brought back Luke Skywalker in the finale. The cameo was a total secret, even to the actors on set, bar Pedro Pascal.

But, Ming-Na Wen, who plays Fennec Shand in the Star Wars universe, has revealed she knew the truth the whole time.

"Oh, I knew it was Luke. How could you not? The glove, the lightsaber, the R2-D2 that they painted freaking green," Wen said in conversation with Katee Sackhoff, who plays Bo-Katan Kryze (and had no idea they were dealing with Luke Skywalker). "I just turned to Jon [Favreau] and Dave [Filoni], I'm like, 'Are you kidding me?'"

The cover story was this mysterious Jedi was none other than Plo Koon, who died during Order 66 – a story Sackhoff apparently believed.

"I'm like, 'Come on. It's R2-D2.' They're like, 'No it's not,'" Wen added, confirming no one would tell her the truth in the moment. Check out the conversation below.

In the finale, Luke Skywalker showed up to save Mando, Grogu, Cara Dune, Bo-Katan, Koska Reeves, and Fennec Shand from the Dark Troopers.

"But even when they didn't admit it, I didn't know how they were going to present it," Wen added. "So, I was very surprised, because I didn't see all those other stuff… It was amazing. I still cried and freaked out."

Luke Skywalker showed up again in The Book of Boba Fett, but hasn't been seen since – though a Star Wars fan spotted a background detail in The Mandalorian and Grogu that might have hinted at his presence on Adelphi Base.

The Mandalorian and Grogu is currently in theaters, and, right now, we don't know what's next for Din Djarin and Baby Yoda. The next Star Wars release is Ahsoka season 2, which is arriving in early 2027.

More details about Avengers: Endgame's upcoming re-release have been revealed – and it sure sounds like it's tying into Avengers: Doomsday in a big way.

As per Deadline, those watching Endgame in Disney's new 'Infinity Vision' large format will be treated to 'a custom introduction, additional new footage, and a special end tag exclusive to Infinity Vision and IMAX releases.' As if to really hammer home the freshness, Mjolnir-style, Avengers: Endgame's re-release comes with its own special title – Avengers: Endgame Encore.

So, those watching in a regular screening (it's currently unclear as of writing which screens will carry Infinity Vision) won't have the end tag included. Hopefully that doesn't mean audiences will be missing out on what appears to be a major link to the upcoming Avengers: Doomsday.

Speaking at Sands Film Festival in April (also via Deadline), Doomsday co-director Joe Russo explained that the re-release would be an "opportunity to create a bridge from Endgame to Doomsday in a very unique way."

Russo added, "You don’t always get the chance to re-release because it costs money, so the fact that we can enhance the story of Doomsday by bridging it to Endgame and these characters that we worked with for years that we love so much, and continue their story: It's a really unique opportunity."

Avengers: Doomsday is under six months away and, so far, we've seen precious little of the crossover that will introduce Robert Downey Jr.'s Doctor Doom to the MCU.

Four teasers were attached to screenings of Avatar: Fire and Ash across January and December, while a CinemaCon trailer was released behind closed doors. Since then, however, we've had little to go on – except a bizarre coffee pop-up event. Expect San Diego Comic-Con in July to provide the goods. We hope.

If not, it might be a long, long wait until Avengers: Endgame Encore hits cinemas in the fall.

Ahead of his return to the MCU, Robert Downey Jr. has shared some insight into Alan Silvestri's theme for Avengers: Doomsday. The former Iron Man star will be playing the new role of villain Victor Von Doom in the upcoming Marvel movie, and has shared how important the character's theme was for getting into character.

"We're on day 4 of production, Joe Russo's like, 'Come here.' And he plays me Doom’s theme. I was like, 'Oh, yeah. Okay, it’s that. And it even affected that day of shooting and every day since," Robert Downey Jr. said, according to reporter Brandon Davis, who quoted some of CBR's interviews with the actor.

We're not surprised as Silvestri is behind some of the most iconic movie scores of all time and has brought magic to Marvel many times before too. His work with the directors, the Russo brothers, on the Avengers movies has been especially stand-out too. Who can ever forget 'Portals' in Endgame?

We also heard a snippet of what might be Doom's theme at the end of Fantastic Four. Could it be the same one? Only time will tell...

Ahead of the new movie, the directors of Avengers: Doomsday have been hyping up their return to the MCU. According to the Russo brothers, the Marvel Phase 6 film is not going to be what audiences are expecting at all.

"That serial shifting and changing and surprising you and then reinventing itself and then shifting and changing and then surprising you... that’s exciting, and I think you’re going to see some shifting and changing [with Doomsday]," Joe Russo said at SXSW earlier this year.

"So, get ready for it. Look, we were with Rob [Downey Jr.] earlier today. We were both talking about this concept that we are back to phase zero. This is starting over from scratch. We want to make sure everybody feels like this isn’t leaning on anything from the past."

After the success of Maul – Shadow Lord, Darth Maul voice actor Sam Witwer says he wants Star Wars to take more risks, because if not, the sci-fi franchise won't grow.

"You have to take creative risks. It’s like the Maul character – if you’re not going to take risks with the Maul character, do something really new with him, you should not be taking the character out," said Witwer on the Pause for Thought podcast. "I think it’s the same thing with Star Wars in general… Certain things are gonna hit with certain audiences – everyone has their favorite. But without that spirit of experimentation, you don’t get anywhere."

Maul – Shadow Lord is quite out of the ordinary for the franchise. Using noir-inspired animation style with real paint strokes mixed with computer-generated visuals, the series looks different from anything we have seen before in Star Wars and shines a more positive light on a once-hated villain. However, doing something different paid off. Shadow Lord sits at a near-perfect 98% score on Rotten Tomatoes, and we awarded it 4 out of 5 stars in our Star Wars: Maul – Shadow Lord season 1 review.

The same goes for Andor. Differing from traditional Star Wars movies and shows, which adopt typical space-fantasy themes, Andor gives fans an insight into the reality of living under oppressive Imperial rule. Andor has a 96% score on RT.

Witwer says Star Wars should be taking these risks more often. But fans are feeling it too. Just last month, Star Wars fans were complaining about the number of projects set between the prequels and original trilogy, wondering if now is the time to move on.

However, it seems as though the tide is turning. As well as Maul – Shadow Lord season 2, which is already in production, the franchise is ready to tell some fresh stories, starting with Shawn Levy's Star Wars: Starfighter starring Ryan Gosling. Levy has also shown interest in making a Star Wars horror movie, which we are well overdue for.

The Spider-Man: Brand New Day villain is so far a matter of mystery – but Tom Holland has teased that it'll be unlike anything we've seen before in the MCU.

"The villain that we have in this new movie, which is still very much a secret, is, I think, unlike anything we've seen in one of these movies before," Holland teased to ProSieben. Watch the moment below.

So far, trailers have teased Spidey going up against the Hand, while teaming up with the Punisher and Bruce Banner – and battling a strange illness that affects his powers. Sadie Sink's mystery character is also part of the line-up, and fans are pretty convinced she's playing Jean Grey.

While Holland remained tight-lipped here, though, he might have let a spoiler slip elsewhere. "I think no one remembers that I'm Spider-Man apart from one," he teased in a recent interview.

When his MJ co-star Zendaya said, "Nobody remembers that you're Peter Parker. They know Spider-Man. Spider-Man is Peter Parker," Holland then added: "They know Spider-Man. They just don't know... one person [knows]."

During the Spider-Man: No Way Home ending, Doctor Strange performed a spell that erased the memory of Peter Parker from everyone in the multiverse. That means even MJ and Ned have forgotten Peter, as we see in the trailers. The identity of the one single person who remembers Peter is another of the movie's secrets for now.

It's time to discuss the Star Wars prequels like it's 1999.

Speaking on the Class Clown podcast (H/T Variety), Peter Serafinowicz – who voiced Darth Maul in Star Wars: The Phantom Menace – recalled his displeasure with the experience.

"The design of it… I wasn't that into it," Serafinowicz said of Maul's Dathomir look. "When I saw the film, it was the biggest disappointment of my life at that point. It really was."

Serafinowicz, who was replaced as the voice of Maul by Sam Witwer in future projcets, even revealed how Star Wars creator George Lucas compared him to Darth Vader's voice actor, James Earl Jones. It didn't seem to go down that well.

"Suddenly there I was with George Lucas, and he was like saying, 'Well, Peter, you're the new James Earl Jones,' and I was like, 'Fucking hell, am I? Then why are you paying me such shit money, George?'"

Whatever Serafinowicz's opinion, it can't be doubted that Darth Maul emerged from the prequels as one of its most iconic aspects. The twin-blade lightsaber-wielding Sith went on to play a key role in Star Wars: The Clone Wars before starring in his own Disney Plus animated series, Maul – Shadow Lord.

Recently, fellow Star Wars villain actor Ian McDiarmid has revealed that Lucas once had plans for a Palpatine TV show, seemingly charting his life from Chancellor to Emperor. But that's not a story Disney will tell you.

Going into Spider-Man: Brand New Day, you may have a few questions. Namely, just who is the villain?

After all, the movie's official synopsis has teased a "powerful villain no one can even see", which only deepens the mystery further. There's been plenty of talk about Stranger Things star Sadie Sink playing Jean Grey, but she (typically) is on the side of Spidey and co. with the X-Men.

So, what gives and who could the webhead and The Punisher be up against in Spider-Man: Brand New Day? Below, we run the rule over the most likely candidates to be the movie's main villain, taking in fan theories, our own expert opinion, and other outsiders from the pages of Marvel's comics. Who is Spider-Man: Brand New Day's mystery villain?

Jean Grey

Let's start with the red-haired elephant in the room. Marvel hasn't officially confirmed that Sadie Sink is playing Jean Grey, but a recent shot of a psychic blast in the latest Brand New Day trailer has eerie parallels to the mutant who would be Phoenix from animated series X-Men: Evolution.

In the trailers, we've also seen members of the public being mind-controlled by an unseen force.

Given Jean Grey's powerful psychic abilities, that certainly puts her in the frame to be the one fighting Spider-Man and pulling the strings – even if there could be more to all this than meets the eye.

Typically, Jean Grey is a foundational part of the X-Men, who haven't yet been introduced in the mainline MCU. With an X-Men movie on the way, though, it makes sense to put the building blocks together here with a tremendous show of what she's capable of – and why the public might fear her and be running scared of mutants in the near future. Is this Marvel's worst-kept secret? Possibly. But we think, if she is Brand New Day's main villain, there might be another power player lurking in the shadows. Which brings us to…

William Metzger

Not exactly a household name, William Metzger is someone who will still be well known to veteran X-Men fans.

A staunch anti-mutant campaigner, Metzger made his name as a hardline activist during the 1999-2000 Children of the Atom X-Men arc. There, he pushed ethical boundaries to further his agenda, even trying to put together an anti-mutant weapon. Ultimately, that ended in failure and led to a brutal death at the hands of Magneto.

Much like Jean Grey, we don't know if Metzger is officially in the movie, but Tramell Tillman's unnamed character has been given the name 'Bill' in multiple subtitled trailers now.

Given Tillman's starmaking rise through the ranks in Severance and Mission: Impossible – The Final Reckoning, it stands to reason that he could be the one to kick off the Mutant Saga in a meaningful way in the MCU in Spider-Man: Brand New Day.

Mister Negative

Jean Grey and William Metzger are two of our picks, but there have been plenty of whispers elsewhere about other Spider-Man villains coming out to play in New York.

Chief among them is Mister Negative. Those rumors started when a devilish logo was spotted during filming for Brand New Day. Fans quickly put two and two together and, at the risk of getting five, concluded that Spidey would be swinging into battle against Mr. Negative and his band of 'Inner Demons'.

First introduced during 2007's Free Comic Book Day, Mister Negative was a product of the Darkforce and Lightforce, which manifested itself as two distinct, wildly different personalities: the crime boss Mister Negative and the F.E.A.S.T founder Martin Li.

Most famously, Mister Negative was a crucial part of Insomniac's first two mainline Spider-Man titles. Since then, his momentum (and popularity) has only grown. Could that amount to an MCU appearance in Brand New Day? We'd certainly love to see it.

Jackal

Perhaps not one of Spider-Man's most famous villains, but you know his work: Jackal – real name Professor Miles Warren – proved the catalyst for the controversial 1990s storyline the Clone Saga, which saw a copy of Peter Parker brought to life.

Fans have already spotted a 'Green Jackal' Easter egg during the house party spied in the first trailer, with others speculating that Keith David (who has been heard but not seen so far in marketing) could be playing the villain.

Mister Sinister

Now, this is a little more out of left field. First introduced by legendary writer Chris Claremont in Uncanny X-Men #221, Mister Sinister has long been a thorn in the side of the X-Men, with Jean Grey often being in the supervillain's sights thanks to his belief that she could help create the ultimate mutant.

With the X-Men movie just a few years away, setting up a larger story here through Mister Sinister – is he manipulating Jean or William in some way? – would pay dividends down the line. Curiously, Jon Hamm had been set to play Mister Sinister in The New Mutants. While he's unlikely to reprise his role, the idea could still be on the minds of those calling the shots at Marvel Studios.

Spider-Man: Brand New Day thwips into cinemas on July 31, though there are early screenings planned in the US for Prime members on July 29.

Tom Holland has revealed how he found out that Robert Downey Jr. was returning to the MCU. In a new interview for Spider-Man: Brand New Day, he shared the story, as well as teasing his excitement for appearing in the upcoming Avengers movies.

"He just called me and I caught up with him a couple of days ago on the phone and we'll just have casual catch-ups every now and then," Holland said to Cinemania.es. "He checks in and he just told me and it's really exciting."

However, Holland went on to admit that the Russo brothers, who are directing Avengers: Doomsday and Avengers: Secret Wars, are not keeping him in the loop with all the details.

"I don't know a lot about those movies, by design," he added. "I have a reputation for spoiling certain things and I think the studios are keeping me from the juicy details but when I do get to grace that set, I'm so curious, 'What does that mean for Peter and how does that work?' I'm very excited about whatever it is."

Holland was busy filming The Odyssey when production was underway for Avengers: Doomsday so it's not clear if he'll appear at all in the first movie. However, as he hints at here, it is widely expected that Peter Parker will play a significant role in Avengers: Secret Wars.

Downey Jr.'s Iron Man had a very close relationship with Holland's Spidey on screen, and while we don't know how his return in the new role of Doctor Doom will be handled, it's certainly something we expect to see developed in the new movies.

No trailer is out yet for Doomsday, but it will be heading to theaters on December 18 this year. Before that, Holland is swinging back onto our screens as Spider-Man in Spider-Man: Brand New Day. The fourth movie in the franchise is out on July 29 in the UK and July 31 in the US.

In the Toy Story 5 post-credits scene, we're treated to the ending of the storyline involving the army of Buzzes. They drift down from the sky into a playground full of kids, who happily grab the toys. But, there's a problem – one kid has an Emperor Zurg action figure in his backpack. Uh oh…

Then, at the very end of the credits, the toys come together and sing Lilypad's song together over the rolling credits.

So, neither of the post-credits scene set-up a sequel or hint at anything further, beyond a quick gag about Buzz and Zurg's legendary rivalry.

Long before the current Disney Plus era of Star Wars, it turns out George Lucas wanted to make a TV show centered around Ian McDiarmid's Emperor Palpatine.

McDiarmid himself revealed the news at Spacecon San Antonio 2026, via The Popverse.

"[George Lucas] was talking about, I think I can tell you now, a television series," McDiarmid shared. "At the time we didn't think about Star Wars in terms of television series. Very speculative. We had lunch one day, and he said I've got this idea, and I hope you might want to be involved. We could sort of follow the Emperor's progress, like Hitler's, some of that. There might be an assassination attempt, and of course it wouldn't succeed. It sounded really exciting. And he also said that maybe you could direct one, and then I fainted. But sadly, that didn't come to pass."

While this does sound like a separate project, especially since McDiarmid says it was "speculative," it's possible this could have been part of the Underworld TV show, which would've been set between the prequel and original trilogies and focused largely on Coruscant's criminal underworld. However, it really does seem Lucas had an entirely separate, Palpatine-focused project in mind.

Of course, while Andor season 1 and 2 never actually featured the Emperor on screen, they did deal heavily with Imperial politics, which might be the closest we get to seeing a project like the one envisioned by Lucas. McDiarmid, meanwhile, returned as Palpatine for a cameo in the Obi-Wan Kenobi series.

Next up for Star Wars is Ahsoka season 2, which has a confirmed release window of early 2027. The Mandalorian and Grogu, meanwhile, is in theaters now.

The latest trailer for Spider-Man: Brand New Day might have given away which comic run the Marvel Phase 6 movie is adapting.

An eagle-eyed fan spotted that, at one point in the trailer, Punisher is standing on a boat named Golden Girl. This same boat features in Gerry Conway's Spectacular Spider-Man run, specifically debuting in issue 141.

Another fan agreed that this run must be the inspiration for some of the movie: "They're definitely adapting elements from SSM 141-142 the action in Atlanta story arc and I'm confident the that final battle will involve Spider-Man vs Tombstone ripped straight from these panels"

Tombstone will indeed feature in the movie, played by Marvin Jones III. These issues see Punisher and Spidey team up to take on Tombstone together.

Still, Marvel movies often put a twist on the comic runs they adapt, so don't expect an exact recreation of Conway's run. Most likely, these issues inspired a small part of the film.

The rest of the trailer features Spidey grappling with his mystery illness, enlisting Bruce Banner for help, and meeting up with MJ and Ned, who no longer remember him after the Spider-Man: No Way Home ending.

Plus, a very brief moment in the trailer has convinced everyone that Stranger Things star Sadie Sink really is playing Jean Grey… though whether that turns out to be true or not remains to be seen.

Following that mysterious leak, a new trailer for Spider-Man: Brand New Day is here... and I haven't been this excited for a new Spider-Man movie since Sam Raimi's Spider-Man 2.

In the new trailer, which you can watch above, we see Peter Parker crash a university science lecture taught by none other than Bruce Banner. He asks Bruce for help with his Spidey powers, who warns him that you can't control what's good or bad when it comes to nature.

We cut to Severance's own Tramell Tillman telling Spider-Man that the city is faced with a new threat they can't control, one they "can't even see," and we immediately cut to that figure in a yellow hooded jacket that may or may not be Sadie Sink. The mysterious threat is able to control everyone – and their powers – but Spidey appears to be immune.

Remember: Brand New Day sees Tom Holland return as Peter Parker for the first time since 2021's Spider-Man: No Way Home, which had Doctor Strange wipe him from everyone's memory. This explains why, in the trailer, Ned has a creepy board dedicated to tracking Spidey's real identity, and MJ has a new boyfriend (who looks a whole lot like Peter, of course). We also see Frank and Peter butt heads, and plenty more of Peter fighting the Hand, the red-clad ninjas last spied as part of Netflix's The Defenders Saga.

Recently, the movie's synopsis has thwipped its way onto the internet, teasing an unexpected villain lurking in the shadows.

"It's a BRAND NEW DAY for Peter Parker," the synopsis, found on the movie's official website, begins. "Fighting crime full-time as Spider-Man in a world that doesn’t remember him—and the pressure of seeing his old friends move on without him—sparks a change in Peter he may not have the power to control. But that transformation might also be the only thing that can stop a shocking new threat to the city and those he loves - a powerful villain no one can even see. The world may have forgotten Peter Parker, but he hasn’t forgotten them."

If that wasn't exciting enough, Holland himself is shouting from the (Manhattan) rooftops about how great the next Spidey adventure is.

He told Esquire, "The movie is already the best Spider-Man movie that we’ve ever made."

Prior to the trailer's unveiling, we even got a taste of what Ned Leeds is up to in the fourth MCU Spider-Man installment, with Peter's former BFF integrating a 'Spidey Tracker', tailing the webhead's daily sightings and crimefighting exploits.

We don't need a Spidey Tracker to count down the days until we can see it in cinemas. Spider-Man: Brand New Day arrives in theaters on July 31, with early screenings for Prime Video members on July 29.

Robert Downey Jr. is returning to the MCU in Avengers: Doomsday as an entirely new character, and he's revealed how he's dealing with the pressure. The Iron Man star isn't only taking on a hugely important comic character in Victor Von Doom, but he's also following in the footsteps of previous Avengers villain Thanos, without a lot of set-up.

Speaking to Comic Book Reporter, Downey Jr. explained that he's been channeling the approach of his directors, the Russo brothers, to stay level-headed with it all. "I'm quite odd in that I try to stay as removed from a subjective experience of things as I can," he explained. "So I try to think like the brothers. I try to feel like I'm in the writing room. I try to feel all that stuff. But eventually, there are so many big shoes to step into that I just have to go, 'What hasn't been done as well as it can be done yet?' We're always looking for that opportunity."

The actor explained that they're doing something different with this character, which feeds into the same details we've had from the Russos so far that this Avengers will be "starting over from scratch". As Downey Jr. puts it, "A lot of it has been… there's some experimentation. We've had our moments of, 'Let's shift here.' But we landed in a place that I think will more than suffice. And it's not even about how I executed it. It's about the way it's been structured, and the other characters."

It seems like everyone involved is very aware of the pressure coming from the previous Avengers movies too. But according to the Doom actor, they're hoping to strike gold once again.

He added: "There's something going on in Doomsday and forward that is literally the only antidote to, 'How do you not have these films be let down after an Infinity War and an Endgame?' And boy, have we labored long and hard to bring that down."

Avengers: Doomsday is "the most emotionally complex" Marvel movie yet according to its co-director Joe Russo.

Speaking to CBR about the escalation of Avengers movies – we have already seen half the universe snapped out of existence before a daring time travel heist, after all – Russo hints at a how Doomsday (and Secret Wars) will layer on plenty of emotion to help resonate with audiences who can't possibly fathom how Doom might top Thanos' run in the MCU.

"The stakes keep going up. But, emotional complexity is always the answer," Russo said. "You bring emotional complexity to anything, and it enriches it. It makes it a fuller experience for the audience. It surprises you."

As you might expect from a director who has delivered some of the biggest movies ever made with his brother Anthony, Joe Russo has plenty of big talk about what to expect – and how it stacks up against the rest of Marvel Studios' output.

"There are a lot of surprises in this. And I think [Doomsday is] the most emotionally complex of all of them," Russo teased. "And in a lot of ways, the most mature of all of them.”

Excited? You should be. Whatever you think of the MCU's current state, the Russos have always delivered with their big event pictures.

Throw in the wildcard of Robert Downey Jr.'s Doctor Doom and the nostalgia factor of several legacy Fox X-Men actors returning, and it has all the ingredients for a blockbuster unlike any other.

While we're still waiting on the first Avengers: Doomsday trailer to be released to the public (July's San Diego Comic-Con seems the safest bet), fans can rest easy knowing we are getting a sliver of fresh looks later this year – in the shape of new footage bolted onto an Avengers: Endgame re-release.

Marvel's upcoming X-Men movie will start the franchise afresh, according to screenwriter Lee Sung Jin. Instead of bringing in lore from previous movies, the first mutant-centric MCU film has the mandate to start from scratch, thanks to Kevin Feige's vision.

Beef creator Lee, who is writing the script, shared the update in a new interview with Deadline, saying there aren't many parameters put on them for what the film has to be. "I'd say there were actually more parameters on Thunderbolts because it was plugging into an existing arc and existing characters, whereas with X-Men, Kevin [Feige] just wants to take a big swing and start anew, not be beholden to any of the movies that have come before," he explained.

Lee worked on Thunderbolts with director Jake Schreier, who will be directing the new X-Men movie as well. The writer says they've been in the writers' room with Marvel producers Feige and Louis D'Esposito dialled in as they "blue-sky" as many ideas as possible.

"I’m such a big fan of that IP of the comics," he added. "My dad and I, every Saturday morning, used to watch the show on television, so to be able to look around this Marvel conference room and have every X-Men character on the board and be able to spitball and freestyle on, 'What about this person?', it’s so emboldening, because you’re like, 'Oh, wow, this isn't going to be a safe movie. This is actually going to be a really exciting new take.'"

That certainly sounds like an exciting approach and one that has surprised us a bit too. This is because Avengers: Doomsday has announced several of the original X-Men stars are set to appear in the big team-up movie, which is arriving ahead of Schreier's standalone film. Some had thought that may have been a way to introduce these characters in the MCU before weaving them into this new story.

However, given that the plan is to "start anew", we're not expecting many of these characters to make it out of Doomsday alive. It's also exciting to see Marvel still willing to take big risks, this far into the MCU.

The X-Men movie doesn't currently have a release date, but Marvel has reserved several slots post-Avengers: Doomsday and Avengers: Secret Wars in 2028, so we could see it arrive at some point then.

Iron Man had a heroic send-off in Avengers: Endgame, but it turns out the Russo Brothers almost killed him off earlier.

In conversation with CBR.com, when asked about a rumor that Iron Man almost died in Avengers: Infinity War, Joe Russo revealed that Tony Stark biting the dust was a possibility, even though Robert Downey Jr. was seemingly rooting for his character to live.

"This happens a lot in these rooms, right? We try to... I'm feeling the heat now," Joe Russo said. "We try to investigate. We try to investigate all angles, right? Everything's up for grabs. We always say, 'Best idea wins.' And a lot of the times you gotta stretch…" Downey Jr. then broke in with: "It's mine" and "mine is just, 'Don't kill me.'"

Russo then added: "We have to stretch the taffy a little bit, pull the taffy a little bit, stretch it, see where it goes. There was a moment where we thought, 'They're not expecting it. This could be the best place to possibly do it.' But then we'd have to figure out how he could potentially still participate in the next movie. And then we went, 'Fuck it, let's just do it in the next movie.'"

They did indeed kill off Tony Stark in Endgame, in a moment that might be one of the MCU's most emotional ever.

Next up for Marvel is Avengers: Doomsday, which sees Downey Jr. return – only, this time, he's the bad guy. Downey Jr. will play Doctor Doom in the Marvel Phase 6 movie, one of the best Marvel villains ever.

Toy Story is the franchise that just keeps coming back. After two apparently definitive endings in the third and fourth films, Toy Story 5 reunites us with the toys we know and love.

Woody left the gang behind in Toy Story 4, emotionally parting ways from Buzz and Jessie to stay with the lost toys in the fun fair.

"When Woody left [Toy Story] 4, he went off with Bo Peep," Tom Hanks, the voice of Woody, tells us. "And they keep finding these abandoned toys. He will do this for the rest of existence."

Hanks hopes to share that in common with his character, too. "Dare I say it, I hope the same is true for my job playing Woody," he adds with a laugh. "How much longer can we keep doing this, to be welcomed back into the fold?"

Each Toy Story movie explores a new dilemma for the toys, and the fifth film sees them take on tech, which threatens playtime. Director Andrew Stanton is clear that, for another movie to happen, this central idea has to be right. "Every new movie, we don't know there's going to be something else to say," he explains. "This took time to come into the world, for us to embrace it."

"What we looked at is the world," adds producer Lindsey Collins. "And we're like, okay, right, technology is here, obviously, and it's here with kids pretty young, and so that would be deeply affecting the toys, and so it felt like it would be naïve to have a film that didn't have that as the center. And so again, as we watch the world and time go by, that's what we wait to see. We're like, 'What's happening out there, what's happening with kids, what's happening with playtime?'"

The first film was released way back in 1995, but, as Hanks explains it, returning for more doesn't lose its familiarity. "I can't say it feels different, because we felt the gravitas of what [we were doing]. It began a thing, like, 'Can we do it at all?'" he says. "The new animation technology that went along with it, as well as the challenges of finding what the relationship here was going to be. And you think that, 'Oh, come on, don't you just go in there and say it?' Alas, no, you go in there and you, like, get to a place. And I have to say, I feel a burden of responsibility every time we begin a new one. And specifically, it's almost too bad that they have a number on it, because all I say is, 'I'm doing another Toy Story movie.' You don't say what the number is. But the very first day of walking in, it was like, 'Okay, am I up to the emotional challenge of making this happen again?' I'm glad they have some faith in me."

Tim Allen, who voices Buzz, agrees that the films all feel part of one long-running story. "It's almost like episode five," he tells us. "It's not a new movie, it's just an episode. In the same way, I don't know if we [need] the number, because it gets formidable when you see the word five there. And it is just another episode, it's just later. It's later. Andrew Stanton, the director, said it compresses time. And it just hit me what that meant. That's what this is. This is compressed time. The weird thing about it is these toys don't actually age, other than [Woody]."

Chris Evans says Steve Rogers will indeed appear in Avengers: Secret Wars, which starts filming very soon.

"I start work on the next one in a couple months, so I'm in the next one," Evans said in an interview with user ComicConMomsi (via ComicBook). "I can't tell you how much I'm in the next one, but I'm in it.”

The movie takes its name from the comic book arc that puts Peter Parker in his infamous black Spidey suit after an alien symbiote comes to Earth (which we also saw in Sam Raimi's Spider-Man 3). The symbiote fails to attach itself to Peter, however, and subsequently chooses Eddie Brock. The story is told over the course of 12 issues and centers on a villain called The Beyonder who sends the Avengers to a planet known as Battleworld and traps them in a seemingly eternal battle with other villains (and it's worth noting that Doctor Doom is indeed one of these villains).

Despite getting a pretty definitive ending in Avengers: Endgame, Steve Rogers has returned to the MCU, though we're still not quite sure how. The first teaser showed Rogers living in the past and cradling a baby he presumably had with Peggy Rogers, as he previously declined returning to the future (and being a 109-year-old man who runs for office in DC like Bucky Barnes).

Back in 2019's Toy Story 4, everyone had their hearts broken when Woody decided to stay behind at the carnival with Bo Peep and the other lost toys, and his best pal Buzz returned to Bonnie's room without him.

Seven years later, Buzz and Woody reunite once again in Toy Story 5. But, while it might seem like the duo has been apart all this time, director Andrew Stanton says that's actually not the case.

"It's been a little under a decade. People come back and visit, and it's like a nice visit. I hope you don't spend that long waiting till you see your old friend again," he jokes to GamesRadar+ when we meet in London to talk about the film. "It wasn't yesterday."

Indeed, by the sounds of things, Buzz and Woody have stayed in contact since they parted ways. "I always knew at the end of [Toy Story] 4, they'd keep in touch, they'd send a postcard, they have the walkie-talkie system," Stanton explains. "Woody says, 'It's a good thing we were in town.' It's relatives that you like keeping in touch with, you know? I wanted to believe that through all those years between that last movie and this one, they've visited."

Producer Lindsey Collins also sees Buzz and Woody as being alternative but necessary kinds of support for Jessie, who is at the heart of the new film. "Each of them play a very different role for Jessie in her life. Buzz has obviously always had this unrequited love, and he's never gonna leave Jessie. It's fun to watch that in this film, how much he's like, 'Oh my god, I love her so much,'" she says. "And then you have Woody, he's like her mentor, right? He's her confidant, and so when she's having this massive bout of insecurity, it just made so much sense that he's who she would call just to be like, 'Woody, is it me? I'm failing,' and have her seek out his counsel. Not to come back – and that's a total misunderstanding – but just to actually be the one to be like, 'Is it bad out there? Is it all going downhill?' And have him be the one to try to calm her down."

While Jessie goes off on a quest of her own in an attempt to make Bonnie some friends, she entrusts Buzz with being her deputy – something the space ranger takes very seriously, especially since he has quite the crush on the cowgirl. "She trusted him to be [deputy], that was a big deal," says Tim Allen, voice of Buzz. "Had to remind [Woody] several times, love that scene. And yes, he is smitten with her."

Allen also appreciates that Buzz and Woody get a heartfelt reunion after their farewell in the fourth film. "They added that scene, which I love, that we hugged each other," he says. "I said, 'I missed you' real quick and got it over with. But, I really wanted that, because it was real difficult to say goodbye when we were in [Toy Story] 4."

You'll be able to see Buzz and Woody together again when Toy Story 5 arrives in theaters this June 19.

There's a new sheriff in town. Back in 2019, Woody the cowboy handed over his gold star badge to Jessie the cowgirl, a literal and symbolic passing of the torch.

Seven years later, Jessie is taking center stage in the fifth installment of the beloved Pixar film series. As leader of Bonnie's room, Jessie goes head to head with the sinister Lilypad, a new technology that hypnotizes the kid from day one.

During her struggles against this new threat, Jessie also comes face to face with her past – and the lingering trauma of being given away by her first kid, Emily, as seen in Toy Story 2's most upsetting scene.

"I just felt she had so much unaddressed, that she had a deep well to draw from," Toy Story 5 director Andrew Stanton tells us of Jessie taking her place at the heart of the new movie. "Woody used to have a deep well but we drew so much from him, I just thought he needed a break.

"And we made a conscious point of passing the badge on from Woody to Jessie at the end of [Toy Story] 4," Stanton adds. "I loved, even if we didn't go to another film, we'd have that, knowing she was a leader now in running Bonnie's room. So, it just made sense when I was asked to work on this one to start there, because it would be a very different room run by her. Even though it's a similar problem of a new thing coming into the room and disrupting things, it's a different era, it's a different kind of character. And she had so much, like I said, under the hood, I knew her insecurities of abandonment would come out right away."

Toys outside Bonnie's room warn Jessie that "the age of toys is over," and indeed that grim prognosis appears to be coming true for the cowgirl and the gang. Bonnie gets hooked on Lilypad's wonders, though maxed out screen time isn't the only problem. Lilypad gives Bonnie the ability to chat to her friends virtually, except these mean girls are no true friends – a sad situation her parents are totally oblivious to, despite taking a more sizeable role in the narrative than the parent figures in previous installments.

"It's just trying to give you an opportunity to understand what can happen," says Stanton. "And they're new to it. We're talking within 48 hours, or maybe 72 hours, that happened. I mean, it's all very new. There's not a lifestyle or a way of running the room with tech that the parents have figured out. It's just suddenly they got a kid a bike, and now this is what comes with having a bike. So, we were just, in a short amount of time, trying to give you all the highs and lows that can come with it."

You'll be able to see how the struggle between toys vs. tech plays out when Toy Story 5 arrives to theaters this June 19.

The Mandalorian and Grogu star Brendan Wayne has defended the movie's box office performance – and also hinted at Lucasfilm co-president Dave Filoni's grander plan.

Wayne is one of the Din Djarin suit performers and has played Mando since season 1 of the Disney Plus show.

Speaking to Brandon Davis, Wayne was asked what makes Filoni the right man for the top Lucasfilm job. As part of his answer, Wayne explained: "Dave's understanding of like, 'Hey, we're going to tell a story, and we're going to tell it over, three movies, or this next episode, this next season of Ahsoka.' He understands that it's not all about, did we open well against Solo, or whatever it was? We were amazing because we didn't have the budget of those movies, and we still did something."

The Mandalorian and Grogu debuted to a $165 million opening weekend on a budget of a matching $165 million, and its total global gross now stands at $297 million. While it has made almost double its production budget, it is the lowest grossing Star Wars movie ever, behind Solo's $392.9 million.

What's especially intriguing about Wayne's answer, though, is the concept of telling a story over three movies and the next season of Ahsoka. Whether Wayne is just speaking hypothetically, or whether there really is a plan for more movies, remains to be seen…

What is clear, though, is that Ahsoka season 2 is going to have huge ramifications for the galaxy far, far away.

"Anybody who saw the sequels knows that there's a First Order coming in, like, 20 years from where we are now in the storyline," Jon Favreau has previously teased. "And then Ahsoka season 2 is coming out – which I've seen all of – and that's definitely more dealing with the larger [picture], a higher level. That's about the officers and we're the enlisted men – this is more of a ground-level experience of what's going on. You're seeing the backdrop – which, by the way, is what the first Star Wars started off as."

Tom Holland's Spidey is swinging back onto our screens very soon, and you'll be able to buy tickets for Spider-Man: Brand New Day even sooner.

Tickets for the upcoming Marvel movie are set to go on sale this June 17 at 9am ET/6am PT/2pm BST (per British cinema chain Odeon, which says tickets go on sale 2pm BST on June 17). That means there's only a few days left until you can secure your tickets for what is near-guaranteed to be one of the most exciting of this year's summer blockbusters.

The film picks up after Spider-Man: No Way Home, which saw the entire multiverse forget Peter Parker thanks to a spell from Doctor Strange. Peter's girlfriend MJ and his best friend Ned both have no memory of him, and, judging by the first trailer, Spidey will also be dealing with some kind of mystery illness.

Along with Holland's Peter Parker, the film also stars Jon Bernthal as the Punisher, Mark Ruffalo as the Hulk, Zendaya as MJ, Jacob Batalon as Ned, Sadie Sink in a mystery role, and Ahsoka star Eman Esfandi as MJ's new boyfriend.

A second trailer for the Marvel movie has leaked online, though it has yet to be unveiled to the public.

If you're in the US and a Prime member, you can also sign up for screenings on July 29, which is two days before the Marvel Phase 6 film's general release.

Jon Favreau says The Phantom Menace inspired a tiny detail in The Mandalorian and Grogu.

In the in-theater director commentary, Favreau revealed that the red laser barriers in the stadium where Din Djarin is forced to fight Rotta the Hutt (voiced by Jeremy Allen White) were inspired by the Duel of the Fates sequence in The Phantom Menace (H/T Laughing Place). Remember those laser gates on Naboo in the infamous fight scene where Obi-Wan Kenobi faces off against Darth Maul? It's a subtle reference, but a cool one nonetheless.

Favreau also revealed that the video game Star Wars: Jedi - Fallen Order was used as a reference for what the inside of an All Terrain Armored Transport, aka an AT-AT walker, looks like. The worlds depicted in various Star Wars graphic novels also helped the art team figure out what the planet of Nal Hutta should look like.

The director commentary is available in over 6,000 US theaters via the TheaterEars app, and is currently only available in the United States. The commentary itself, and more, will likely arrive with the later streaming and VOD release of the film. As the movie is still in theaters, we likely have quite a while to wait before that happens.

The Mandalorian and Grogu director Jon Favreau has shared which scene from the Star Wars movie was filmed first, and it's my favorite moment.

In the director's commentary currently available to moviegoers via the TheatersEars app, Favreau revealed that the very first thing shot for the film is the plate of the ocean at Adelphi Base, where Grogu and Rotta the Hutt play in the tides together (via Laughing Place).

Now, if you're not up on filmmaking lingo, a plate shot is something filmed to be used in a VFX shot. So, this means the ocean itself was filmed, and Grogu and Rotta added later.

The scene is my favorite in the whole movie – which might come as a surprise, considering all the action, or that beautiful sequence involving Grogu fending for himself. But, the brief, adorable moment acts to emphasize the growing friendship between Rotta and Grogu (one of the reasons Rotta is my MVP of the movie), and, as Din Djarin watches on, it's a sweet reminder that these two get to play in the surf because they have a protector willing to save them from the galaxy's villains.

The director's commentary has revealed all kinds of fun behind the scenes facts about the Star Wars movie, including that Favreau sought George Lucas's permission for one part of the film, Edgar Wright had some advice regarding Embo the bounty hunter, a Luke Skywalker reference was added last minute, one of the best lines was improv, the Droid Gotra were inspired by a scrapped Star Wars game, and Jedi: Fallen Order helped with one action sequence.

A potential Marvel LEGO leak might have revealed a new look at Robert Downey Jr.'s Doctor Doom in Avengers: Doomsday.

In the pictures, which you can see below, we see Doom's silver and green suit. He has that cape and hood from the Fantastic Four post-credits scene, as well as his long, armored boots, and silver detailing on the chest plates.

However, this leak is far from official, so take it with a pinch of salt. For one thing, LEGO rarely uses stands like the one in the picture, so this could be a fake. But if this leak was real, we'd wager a guess that this minifigure could accompany a rumored Doom bust, or the unannounced $109.99 set.

A Hasbro toy leak has also given us a good look at the Doom suit, too, along with accompanying red energy accessories, which could be a hint at Doom's powerset in the movie.

Despite anticipation for Doom only getting higher every day, we still don't have a very good look at him in live-action. So far, four trailers have been released for Doomsday, but none of them featured Doom himself. We saw him from the side in the Fantastic Four post-credits, so hopefully a full look isn't far away.

A new trailer for Doomsday screened behind closed doors at CinemaCon, though it still hasn't hit the internet. Sadly, a teased announcement from the Russo Brothers that raised hopes the trailer would debut at SXSW London turned out to simply be coffee beans.

The big reveal at the end of Thunderbolts that the group of heroes will now be known as The New Avengers is a lot of fun to watch. None of the team really know how to react, but as one Marvel fan noticed, if you look at John Walker's face, it's clear to see that he's especially not loving the news.

"I love John Walker’s reaction to the 'New Avengers' moment," the Redditor wrote. "He definitely had flashbacks to being Captain America, along with his struggles with public backlash and imposter syndrome."

Indeed, John Walker has had a tricky past in the MCU to date. We first met Wyatt Russell's character back in The Falcon and the Winter Soldier when he was chosen as Steve Rogers' successor. However, after publicly murdering a surrendering Flag Smasher, he was stripped of his title and became something of an antihero. Thunderbolts* helps redeem him somewhat, but it's clear that a step back into the public eye isn't exactly what Walker was after.

As the Redditor went on to add, it's interesting to compare these two Marvel projects as well. "I came to realize that the ending of 'Thunderbolts*' shared a lot of parallels with when Walker was first announced as the new Captain America in 'Falcon and the Winter Soldier,' they continued.

"It’s a very similar moment – a newly government-funded hero being publicly introduced to the world through media, as they adopt a very familiar & prestigious title. Yet, John’s attitude contrasts greatly between the two separate moments. He had a prideful demeanour and cocky wink as Cap, but seemed more distant and jaded in 'Thunderbolts*'."

It's definitely an interesting comparison – and it's something I hope we'll continue to see Walker dealing with in Avengers: Doomsday. Already in the Thunderbolts* post-credits scene, he reveals that he's been reading "nasty" memes as they struggle to work out their place in the Avengers line-up.

The Mandalorian and Grogu may be a standalone movie, but the Star Wars film includes a flurry of nods to the franchise and has brought up many discussions within the fan base, including how powerful the Hutts are.

Over on Reddit, one fan pointed out how the new movie shines a new light on the Hutts after Jabba made a rather weak first impression in the original trilogy. "For the longest time, I've heard about how Legends paints the Hutts of Old as these great warriors," said the fan, "I never really believed it when my only point of reference was the likes of Jabba and the Hutt Council… Then I saw how Rotta was moving in the new movie and completely understood all of it."

Let's face it, when we meet Jabba in Return of the Jedi, we see a bloated, idle crime lord who, yes, has immense power, but he is not exactly a warrior. The sluggish villain made it hard to understand how he got into such a position. Enter Rotta the Hutt in The Mandalorian and Grogu. The new movie gives us insight into what the Hutts can do at the peak of their power, which is demonstrated in the arena scene, where we see a jacked Rotta, voiced by Jeremy Allen White, show off his talents.

"Sure, he's still probably not beating anything in a foot race," added the fan, "but the sheer intimidation factor of this Slug Hulk charging at you like a demon, followed by the strength to lift some of the most deadly creatures in the galaxy and toss them around like toys… Combine all of this with the aforementioned blaster-resistant hide, and I can finally understand why these guys are so feared even before their empire."

Other fans seem to agree, as one replied, "Hutts are like tongues, pure muscle, but leisurely life makes them fat," and another added, "Honestly, Rotta has become one of my favourite new characters just because of how he makes people realise how dangerous Hutts are when they aren't fat and lazy."

When the movie first hit screens, our writer singled Rotta out as the real MVP of The Mandalorian and Grogu, writing, "from the moment Rotta is introduced in the film, it's obvious he's going to be a ton of fun."

The Marvel community has been rallying around X-Men star Tyler Mane following the actor's announcement he has cancer. The Sabretooth actor posted a video on Facebook sharing his diagnosis with breast cancer and his treatment plan.

"I have some bad news, I start chemo today," he began. "One in 750 men will be diagnosed with breast cancer in their lifetime, and I'm one of them. Because it's rarely talked about it's usually found in later stages and has worse outcomes. I want to change that." He then asked his fans to share his video, telling them to come along with his journey "to kick this thing in the ass."

In a written statement shared alongside the video, he wrote: "I'll be honest, my first reaction was to keep it secret. I mean it’s kind of embarrassing. But then I found out that men are more likely to be diagnosed in advance stages BECAUSE it's not talked about and not looked for. In fact, my doctors all dismissed it and it was only because my wife pushed me to get the lump removed that I got in early."

Marvel fans have been rallying around Mane, who returned to his Sabretooth role in 2024's Deadpool and Wolverine after starring in 2000's X-Men.

"Prayers for Tyler. I am wishing him nothing but the best in his recovery," one wrote on Reddit. "His Sabretooth was always cool and incredibly menacing even though he only got to play the character briefly. Glad he at least the chance to return after two decades. He’s a kick-ass, larger-than-life dude who will surely beat cancer’s ass. LFG."

"Best wishes to him! I can’t imagine how difficult and scary this is for him. He’s amazing. His portrayal of Sabretooth is iconic," another replied, as a third wrote: "I just met him recently at a con. Such a good-humored dude. He gave me so much crap for wearing my Wolverine shirt, but I deserved it lol. Hope he kicks cancer’s ass!"

Wonder Man is one of Marvel's most delightful surprises, and the cast has teased what they would like to see when the story continues in season 2 – and director Destin Daniel Cretton and writer Andrew Guest have also hinted at what to expect.

The Disney Plus show revolves around the odd couple friendship between Ben Kingsley's Trevor Slattery and Yahya Abdul-Mateen II's Simon Williams, and it sounds like that will continue to be at the forefront of Wonder Man season 2.

"There's so much fun to be had in whatever crazy journey they're going to go on next together," Cretton says in a video shared to Marvel's Twitter account. "But I also think there's a deep well, both in Simon Williams but also Trevor Slattery, to get to know them more and to understand their past."

While that sounds like a very grounded extension of the first season, Kingsley has a different idea for Trevor. "I would love Trevor's story to go into outer space," he shared. "But I probably find that a bit of a stretch." Later in the video, he adds: "But I'd love to have him visit other planets."

Guest, creator, writer, and executive producer, says: "More Simon and Trevor, more entertainment stories, and also, some new things that we didn't quite get to explore. And I know I'm being vague, but I don't want to get in trouble with any of my bosses."

X Mayo, who plays Janelle Jackson, had one particular open plot thread in mind. "One thing that I'm excited is to see, where is Josh Gad? Where is he? He's somewhere just floating. So, I'm excited for that, and to see how Simon's character, Wonder Man, progresses."

"Truthfully, if you are going in to watch this show expecting a superhero show that is typically like something you've seen before, I think you will not like the show, if that's all you want," Cretton previously told us. "But I also think you'll probably, if you watch it all the way through, surprisingly, fall in love with these characters and find that this show, even though it's not a typical superhero show, to me, uses the genre in a way that is so much more exciting and interesting than just watching two people fight."

Spider-Man: Brand New Day has added a third writer to its screenplay as Challengers and Queer scribe Justin Kuritzkes is getting a credit on the upcoming Marvel movie. He'll be joining original writers Chris McKenna and Erik Sommers after he helped revise the screenplay.

The Wrap reports that news of Kuritzkes' involvement came from Tom Holland's recent appearance on Good Hang with Amy Poehler. When he appeared on the show, he spoke of an incident where he and Zendaya felt a scene wasn't working so they reworked it with a screenwriter called Justin.

"He said to the crew, 'Everyone can go home. We’re going to sit down, and we’re going to rewrite this scene with the writer, Justin, who is such a talent,'" Holland said to Poehler of director Destin Daniel Cretton's approach to the situation. "We came in the next day, we reshot the scene, and I’m so glad we did, because it sings in the movie. It really does."

Kuritzkes is best known for his collaboration with director Luca Guadagnino, having worked on two of his latest movies, Challengers and Queer. He also wrote the script for Guadagnino's abandoned DC movie Sgt. Rock, so he has comic book movie priors. Challengers stars Spider-Man star Zendaya as a former tennis star-turned-coach who navigates an upcoming match between her husband and her ex-boyfriend.

Challengers in particular has an excellent script, full of sharp writing and dialogue between its characters. As a result, it's definitely exciting to hear that he's been involved with working on Spider-Man 4's script.

Holland has been open about how hard he's been working on the next movie in the Marvel saga. In another recent interview, he revealed that he'd been calling his producers from the set of The Odyssey to impart filmmaking wisdom learned from Christopher Nolan.

Star Wars stories in a galaxy far, far away often take inspiration from wider media in the iconic franchise. But we didn't expect this.

As Jon Favreau revealed during a cinema-exclusive director's commentary on The Mandalorian and Grogu, the cancelled Uncharted-like Star Wars 1313 was influential to the droid group guarding the Nal Hutta palace.

As per Laughing Place, the Droid Gotra were 'borrowed' from the scrapped LucasArts title, which would have centred around Boba Fett on Coruscant.

Perhaps the most famous Star Wars video game that never was, 1313 was dropped after Disney's acquisition of Lucasfilm and the shuttering of LucasArts. Perhaps it's no surprise that remnants of the project live on, however.

Ex-Lucasfilm boss Kathleen Kennedy told Slash Film back in 2015 "we don't want to throw any of that stuff away" in regards to 1313 or George Lucas' ambitious TV show Star Wars: Underworld.

The Mandalorian also has previous history with repurposing 1313 concepts. So, even if we never get to play as Boba Fett in a fully-fledged rampage through the galaxy's criminal underworld, some of the game's legacy stretches out into streaming and big-budget blockbusters.

The curious case of the in-cinema director's commentary, meanwhile, has thrown up several gems for those listening via the TheatreEars app – including why director Edgar Wright gets a thank you in the credits and how a Luke Skywalker reference was added on the day of filming.

Toy Story 5 brings the beloved Pixar franchise back to the big screen, reuniting viewers with Woody, Buzz and Jessie. This time around the story sees the toys dealing with a new threat: the rise of technology.

Voiced by Greta Lee, a new tablet called Lilypad has joined playtime and the now eight-year-old Bonnie is obsessed. Jessie and Buzz must bring Woody back as they try to overcome Lilypad and bring back traditional toys. Tom Hanks, Tim Allen, and Joan Cusack all return in the voice cast alongside newcomers like Conan O'Brien and Craig Robinson.

Early reactions have started pouring in for the new movie, and they seem to be extremely glowing. GamesRadar+'s own Molly Edwards was a big fan, writing on Twitter: "I loved #ToyStory5! It made me laugh, it made me cry, and it was so wonderful seeing Jessie take the spotlight. The army of Buzzes is also a DELIGHT."

Meanwhile, Variety's Jazz Tangcay called it "magical and pure perfection" in her first reaction. "It is a fantastic entry into the franchise. Jessie finally gets the story she deserves! It's emotional, funny, genuinely warm, and perfect in every way. Loved the new addition of characters. I laughed and cried at how marvelous Toy Story 5 is."

Podcaster Daniel Baptista was even more effusive in his take on the new movie, writing that it's a "generation-defining experience" and "exactly the story we need right now". Critic Scott Menzel agreed, comparing it with the franchise to date. "Toy Story 5 ranks right alongside the first three films, delivering a perfect blend of humor, heart, and that signature Pixar magic," he wrote on Twitter.

Filmmaker Edgar Wright had one key note after watching an early screening of The Mandalorian and Grogu, and it has to do with the movie's evil bounty hunter, Embo.

According to the director's commentary provided by Jon Favreau, which movie-goers can listen to in-theater thanks to the TheaterEars app, Wright suggested that the best way to introduce Embo in the film was to have him appear earlier (H/T The Holo Files). Initially, our live-action introduction to Embo was when he breaks into Din and Grogu's house to capture Din on the orders of the Hutt Twins. Having him subtly appear in the corner of the screen when Din and Grogu fly back to Nevarro makes things a little more ominous (especially with his overall sinister appearance), and sets up the danger to come.

We first met Embo in The Clone Wars season 2 episode 17, and his arc ended with him and his anooba Marrok joining the Fett syndicate. It's also worth noting that Embo has a different anooba (his wolf-like hunting partner) in The Mandalorian and Grogu.

The director commentary is only available to United States fans (at least for now), as the TheaterEars app is available in over 6,000 US movie theaters. The commentary itself, and more, will likely arrive with the later streaming and VOD release of the film.

A Luke Skywalker reference in The Mandalorian and Grogu was added during filming, Jon Favreau has revealed.

The Mandalorian and Grogu is still in theaters, and now you can listen in on Favreau's director's commentary with the TheatersEars app. As you might expect, the commentary is revealing all kinds of interesting details about the film.

During the movie, when Mando is injured and Grogu must fend for himself, we see Baby Yoda seated on a tree trunk and meditating. It's a call back to Grogu's stint training as a Jedi Padawan with Luke Skywalker, as seen in The Book of Boba Fett: in episode 6 of that show, we saw Luke and Grogu meditating together.

According to Favreau (via Laughing Place), he had the idea for the meditation scene in The Mandalorian and Grogu on the day of filming, and he used some spare time to capture the moment. He explained that he thinks Grogu learned to meditate from Luke, and the former-Padawan could be "continuing Jedi training on his own."

During The Book of Boba Fett, Luke gave Grogu the choice to either continue his Jedi training or return to Din Djarin. Grogu chose Mando, and now Grogu is officially a Mandalorian apprentice.

"He's not on the typical Jedi path of a youngling, but he has trained with some of the best Jedi teachers that there are," Favreau told us of Grogu's Jedi journey before the film's release. "We know for sure he's studied with Luke Skywalker. There's implications that he may have crossed paths with Yoda, because he does recognize the name, is what we imply. And he also was there at the Jedi Temple before Order 66.

"So, it's a big part in talking to Dave Filoni, and by extension, to what he learned from George [Lucas], which is that the Force is about training," he continued. "It's about refining, just like an athletic ability or any skill. And we do see that, although Grogu is not serving under somebody who is teaching him, he still clearly is meditating and going through some version of the Jedi discipline. So, I think that his Force use has definitely leveled up a bit. Luke Skywalker didn't study under Obi-Wan for very long, but still refined his skills. So, I think that that's part of the path that's available to Grogu, as per what we've already learned from the previous Star Wars films."

This might not be the only reference to Luke in the movie, either: one fan spotted what could be R2-D2 being lifted from an X-wing in the background of the movie's opening credits.

In the same director's commentary, Favreau also revealed that he sought George Lucas's permission for a specific aspect of the film, Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order provided inspiration for a major action sequence, and the movie's best line was improv.

It seems as though some Marvel fans just can't wait, as months after weekly Avengers: Doomsday teaser leaks, the new Spider-Man: Brand New Day trailer has found its way online.

The second Spider-Man: Brand New Day trailer has been leaked on Twitter, with watermarks and all. We won't link it here, but the new trailer gives us a completely different look at the fourquel, as well as more Bruce Banner and an insight into Spidey's close relationships. Hopefully, it won't be too long until Sony releases the full trailer officially, as it was age-rated on May 28, so it should be ready to go.

As soon as it became apparent that a second Brand New Day trailer was on its way, Marvel fans were champing at the bit to see it, which resulted in a ton of AI-generated trailers appearing online. However, this one does seem to be real.

The first Spider-Man: Brand New Day trailer was released almost three months ago, on March 18. Sony turned the trailer launch into a 24-hour event, with many different influencers dropping snippets before Tom Holland released the full trailer via livestream from the top of the Empire State Building.

Welcoming Holland back as Spidey, Brand New Day picks up years after Spider-Man: No Way Home, when Doctor Strange wiped the world's memory of Spider-Man's true identity, meaning his best friend Ned (Jacob Batalon) and girlfriend MJ (Zendaya) have no idea who he is. The cast also includes Mark Ruffalo as Bruce Banner, Jon Bernthal as the Punisher, and Stranger Things star Sadie Sink in a mystery role.

It turns out everyone's favorite line from The Mandalorian and Grogu was actually some genius improvisation.

That's according to Jon Favreau, who revealed the behind the scenes tidbit in the new director's commentary for the film, which is available via the TheatersEars app.

In the new Star Wars movie, Din Djarin is captured and taken to Nal Hutta by Embo the bounty hunter, and Grogu and his Anzellan pals set off on an adventure to rescue him. This involves climbing up to a pipe that leads deeper into the Hutt palace. As the camera pans down the long, dark tunnel the tiny friends will have to traverse, one of the Anzellans observes: "Big pipe, huh?"

It's a line that has taken on a life of its own online already, and Favreau shared in the commentary that it was improv from Shirley Henderson, who provides the voices for the Anzellans (H/T The HoloFiles).

Favreau has also previously revealed that he reached out to JJ Abrams about the Anzellans, since Babu Frik debuted in Abrams's The Rise of Skywalker. "When I was working with the Anzellans, I called up JJ," he explained. "And JJ came to the set. Because you want him to know that, you know, 'I appreciate what you did. Can we – do you mind? Are we handling this well? Are you happy?'"

In the same director's commentary, Favreau also revealed that he sought George Lucas's permission to use the original Red Jammer model, and Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order provided a key piece of inspiration for a major action sequence in the film.

Boba Fett actor Temuera Morrison was hoping to make an appearance in The Mandalorian and Grogu, and it actually would've made a whole lot of sense.

"I was hoping to pop in there, too, and maybe help [Din Djarin and Grogu] out with something," Morrison told a fan who said that he hoped Boba would've made an appearance. "They might want him back one day… you never know."

It wouldn't have been out of the realm of possibility for Boba Fett to appear in The Mandalorian and Grogu given that he appeared in The Mandalorian season 2, specifically in episodes 6, 7, and 8 (though his subsequent survival after falling into the sarlacc's mouth is implied in episode 1).

You might also recall that Boba's arc ends with him sitting upon the throne that once belonged to Jabba the Hutt. Given that The Mandalorian and Grogu takes place on the Hutts' planet and involves a rescue mission for Jabba's son Rotta... it would've actually made perfect sense for Morrison's bounty hunter to make an appearance, and, as Morrison said, help Din Djarin and Grogu out with something.

The Book of Boba Fett ran for just one season on Disney Plus back in 2022, with Morrison previously saying that the show's reception "seems to have impacted the future of the character in the franchise." As a staunch defender of The Book of Boba Fett and the Star Wars Christmas Special (where Boba made his first official on-screen appearance), I have full faith that we'll see the bounty hunter again.

Thunderbolts star Wyatt Russell has teased more about Avengers: Doomsday, and it sounds like he's very impressed by his co-star Sebastian Stan.

"We have finished most of the filming, and all the stuff is done," Russell told Deadline at the London Disclosure Day premiere. "It's looking awesome from what I've been able to glean. [I] haven't seen much, but I've seen some of the trailers and stuff. Just doing it was a blast.

"I can tell you Sebastian is amazing in it. I know David [Harbour]'s going to be great in it," he continued. "We worked a lot on set with everybody, and Florence [Pugh], being on set with them, and all the other people that you got to be on set [with]. It was just a cool place to be. I have had a blast and I'm happy to get to be able to see it."

All of the Thunderbolts are returning in Doomsday, and, judging by Russell's comments, it seems they'll be sharing the screen with some of the rest of the supersized cast. That includes the likes of Chris Hemsworth's Thor, Anthony Mackie's Captain America, the Fantastic Four, the Fox-era X-Men, and even more.

A new toy leak has given us our best look yet at Robert Downey Jr.'s Doctor Doom, too, and it's a fitting look for one of the best Marvel villains ever.

And, by the sounds of things, Doom will be shaking up the status quo. Speaking recently at SXSW London, co-director Joe Russo teased: "We were with Rob [Downey Jr.] earlier today. We were both talking about this concept that we are back to phase zero. This is starting over from scratch. We want to make sure everybody feels like this isn't leaning on anything from the past."

Over the past decade, Star Wars has focused heavily on the period of time between the prequels and original trilogy, so much so that fans are wondering if it is time to move on from releasing projects set in this era.

When the Star Wars prequels were released, there was no doubt that fans had a lot of questions about what had happened in the 19 years between Revenge of the Sith and A New Hope. But thanks to the ever-growing franchise, many projects have filled in the blanks and introduced lots of new characters. But when is enough enough?

"Considering the sheer amount of media we've gotten that takes place between III-IV, is there STILL some plot holes that need to be addressed? Or is it finally time to move on?" asked one fan on Reddit. Many others agree, as one pointed out, "Personally, I’m over the timeline between Ep1-6... give us the Luke Han Leia story post-6. Take some heavy swings at the lore. Dig deep and do some mythological heavy lifting."

Many fans are seeing the funny side of Lucasfilm and Disney's overexploration of The Dark Times. "There's still a dude in the back of the Mos Eisley's cantina in ANH we don't have a full 3-season show about," joked one fan, and another added, "You joke, but the Tales From Mos Eisley Cantina literally gave us the backstory of Han Solo's vest."

There are now 10, yes ten, projects set between the prequels and the original trilogy, and that's not counting Tales of the Jedi, which has episodes set slightly before. On the Star Wars timeline, Tales of the Empire, Tales of the Underworld, The Bad Batch, Maul – Shadow Lord, Solo: A Star Wars Story, Obi-Wan Kenobi, Andor, Star Wars Rebels, and Rogue One: A Star Wars Story all take place during that 19-year gap.

It doesn't look like Lucasfilm is quite finished with the period known as the Reign of the Empire, as Maul – Shadow Lord season 2 is already in production, and a third Star Wars Jedi games is expected to continue the story of Cal Kestis in this period. However, the franchise is exploring pastures new in Shawn Levy's Star Wars: Starfighter, which will take place approximately five years after The Rise of Skywalker. Starfighter hits cinemas on May 28, 2027.

The Mandalorian and Grogu might be directed by Jon Favreau, but Star Wars creator George Lucas was still involved in one specific way.

Moviegoers are currently able to listen to Favreau's director's commentary for The Mandalorian and Grogu while watching the film in theaters via the TheatersEars app, and Favreau reveals plenty of fascinating details about the flick.

In the commentary, Favreau explains that he was at Skywalker Ranch, using the parking lot to film a Razor Crest miniature, when he learned that the original Red Jammer Y-wing starfighter model was being prepped for display at the Lucas Museum of Narrative Art. Favreau then obtained the permission of George Lucas himself to use the model in the film (via Laughing Place).

The Red Jammer was created as a reference for A New Hope, but the model itself never appeared in the film. The Mandalorian and Grogu marks its first appearance in Star Wars.

"After a lengthy negotiation, George Lucas gave us permission to borrow the model," visual effects supervisor John Knoll previously told VFX Voice (via ComicBook.com). "We shot two motion-control elements of it. It's in the movie and will go by quickly. Unless somebody points it out, you won't notice it, but there are two photographed elements of a 1976 original model from Star Wars, which has never been seen onscreen before."

Lucas's American Graffiti was also an inspiration for The Mandalorian and Grogu, Favreau shared, specifically Mando wanting to boost the Razor Crest's speed by stripping his new ship of restrictors.

Spider-Man: Brand New Day's runtime has been leaked early – and it seems we're spending more time with the webslinger than ever before on the big screen.

As per AMC Theatres, Brand New Day clocks in at a bulky 150 minutes (two hours, 30 minutes). That beats out the former longest Spider-Man movie No Way Home (148 minutes).

In fact, Brand New Day's bumper length puts it squarely in the frame for one of the longest MCU movies ever made, only being topped by Eternals (156 minutes), Black Panther: Wakanda Forever (161 minutes), and Avengers: Endgame (181 minutes). We fully expect Avengers: Doomsday to join that list later this year, however.

Those hoping for a glimpse of Peter Parker's next MCU adventure can rest easy. A second trailer is purportedly imminent, while Amazon has announced early screenings for Prime members two days before its general release in the US.

Brand New Day, as the title suggests, revolves around a clean slate for the wallcrawler. With the entire planet forgetting Spider-Man's secret identity, Spidey strikes out on his own.

But as the first trailer suggests, he is struggling to leave his old life – and MJ – behind. Couple that with the emergence of Jon Bernthal's Punisher and Michael Mando's Scorpion (as well as the top-secret character played by Sadie Sink) and the wallcrawler might be hoping to clock off for the day.

We might still be half the year away from Avengers: Doomsday, but the best look yet at Doctor Doom's suit has arrived.

The glimpse at Doom's villainous attire hasn't arrived via a new trailer, however. Instead, it comes thanks to a toy leak. Images of upcoming Hasbro action figures have hit the internet (H/T Comic Basics), and they reveal Doom's green and silver get up. Check the pictures out below.

The outfit looks pretty similar to what Doom was sporting in the Fantastic Four: First Steps post-credits scene, though we only got a sidelong look at him then. On the action figure, we can see that Robert Downey Jr.'s Doom has metal boots, gauntlets, and plating on his chest, along with that swishy green cape, and a black belt of some kind. Of course, he also has that distinctive silver mask, too. All in all, he looks fairly ominous, which is nothing less than we expect from the MCU debut of one of the best Marvel villains ever.

One figure also seems to be accompanied by red fists sizzling with energy, which might hint at Doom's capabilities and power set in the movie.

The leak also reveals a slightly new look for Anthony Mackie's Captain America, too. It looks like he'll have longer red gloves in the Marvel Phase 6 movie compared to his Captain America: Brave New World suit, and the detailing on his shoulders and goggles will be more white than silver.

As for Thor, he already appeared in a short trailer for the film, which revealed he has returned to his Infinity War-era haircut. This action figure also includes his comic-accurate helmet.

Images of action figures for The Thing, Human Torch, and Beast have also surfaced online, though there are no huge surprises about the way they look.

A new trailer for Doomsday debuted behind closed doors at CinemaCon, but it hasn't been released to the public yet. Recently, a teased announcement from the Russo Brothers stirred up hope the trailer would debut at SXSW London… but it turned out to just be coffee beans.
