When will Best Buy's early Black Friday Halloween sale end?

Best Buy's "DoorBOOsters" sale will ultimately come to an end this Sunday, though now that we're fully into holiday sales season, you can expect many of these record-low prices to hold out for a little while yet (stock allowing). Plus, we often see retailers rotating through savings in the lead-up to the main Black Friday event. If you miss out now, there's likely another opportunity in the wings.

How we find the best early Black Friday deals

We're not just looking at price cuts in the holiday months, we check these fluctuations in cost all year round. Not only that, but we've spent years road-testing all the accessories likely to make their way to the discount shelves by the time November rolls around.

This year's Black Friday PS5 deals are in a bit of an awkward situation. Sony's announcement that it's ditching physical discs from January 2028 put a bit of a damper on this holiday's deals, as it doesn't feel quite the same picking up physical games when it's highly probable the PS6 is not going to come with a disc drive in tow and we're heading toward a digital-only future. Not to mention, anyone who has yet to grab a PS5 might feel reluctant to do so if they're a physical game fan, and that's before you account for the price hike, which has made the PS5 Pro a $900 console.

For me, that makes Black Friday and this year's savings more important than ever, as I fully plan to use it as an excuse to sweep up any physical games I've yet to play. That way, come 2028, my back catalog will be bursting at the seams, and I'll still have plenty of physical discs to get through. In my last few years covering Black Friday, PS5 game sales are typically where the best deals are found, and I suspect that will be the case this November. A lot of heavy hitters were released this year, from Resident Evil 9 Requiem to Pragmata, and it's those that all eyes should be on. There's every chance that even recent releases like Marvel's Wolverine or Silent Hill Townfall could receive their debut discounts ahead of this year's sales.

If you're not really fussed about physical games, accessories are always prevalent during Black Friday and beyond. Since last year, the best PS5 headsets have been shaken up with the launch of the SteelSeries Arctis Nova Omni, and I'm keeping my fingers crossed that its AU$879 will be taken down a notch, especially as GTA 6 is incoming. Black Friday is kicking off the same month as GTA 6, and so having the best cans at your disposal will go a long way toward enjoying the game's new soundtrack. As will having some extra storage to tackle the game's estimated 130GB, or even a flashy new controller. How much should you pay for a PS5 in 2026?

If you're new to the word of Sony's current-gen console and want to pick one up for GTA 6 this Black Friday, or for a wealth other reasons (I'm pretty privy to PlayStation Plus Premium myself) than you have to come to terms with the fact that you're going to pay far more than launch prices That's unfortunately just the reality of the current gaming climate, particularly as we're still dealing with the ramifications of the RAM Storage Crisis.

In Australia, you can expect to find a PS5 Slim Disc and Digital Edition for AU$999.95 / AU$919.95 respectively, while the PS5 Pro will have a full price of AU$1,399 These are the new prices that went into effect starting April 2, earlier this year. Anything below these prices this November (or on the lead up to) will technically be a deal, although they're unlikely to drop to prices that would have been considered big savings when you factor in the console's launch prices. That's just the reality of things.

Black Friday 2026 is due to take place on November 27 (AKA the day after Thanksgiving). However, don't assume the discounts are limited to one day. As evidenced by the early offers already flying around, the discounts begin far sooner than that.

When do Black Friday Warhammer deals end?

Although Black Friday offers officially finish at 00:01am the next day (Saturday 28 November, in this case), that's not always the case. Sure, the best discounts may have dried up by then, but most roll into roll into December... at which point they become 'Cyber Monday' deals.

Does Games Workshop run Black Friday Warhammer deals?

You're unlikely to find Black Friday Warhammer deals at Games Workshop, because the company doesn't traditionally offer sales. 2026 could be the year I'm proven wrong, of course, but if previous years are anything to go by, we won't be seeing price cuts there. Rather, they more commonly offer bonuses such as the 'Earn as you Spend' promotion for anyone signed up to the GW newsletter.

The best place to find actual Black Friday Warhammer deals would be smaller, independent stockists. The likes of Miniature Market in the US or the UK's Magic Madhouse are always discounting GW products, and there's no way in hell they won't be doing the same thing again for this year's sale.

Black Friday MTG deals officially kick off on November 27, 2026, but they'll actually start way before that. We tend to see price cuts appearing from a mid-November onwards, so keep an eye out as Thanksgiving approaches.

The discounts won't end after Black Friday itself, either. They usually cling on into December as we move to Cyber Monday.

What will the best Black Friday MTG deals be?

Many Magic products get discounted for Black Friday, but some enjoy better reductions than others. MTG's most popular format - Commander - always enjoys a deal or two when the sale rolls around, for example. Although you're less likely to get a bargain on brand-new, fresh-off-the-press sets, most Commander decks will be a few months old by the time the sales arrive. If previous years are anything to go by, that means we should be able to expect $10 off the sticker price (or beyond, if it's an older release).

Booster boxes also enjoy huge price cuts. You can typically save $40 or more on these collections if you're lucky, providing far better value for money than you'd usually find.

Black Friday Pokemon card deals may not be the first thing that comes to mind where the sale is concerned, and that's fair enough. You're more likely to find everyone fawning over TV and tech discounts, after all. But November strikes with some genuinely good offers on the TCG, from accessories to tins.

According to Walmart, this is down from $100... but that simply shouldn't be the case. This box should retail for a fraction of that, but thanks to demand, costs have gone up. It's not a deal per se, but this is far cheaper than I've seen the same bundle elsewhere. Black Friday retro deals won't always make the rounds, but I see that as a challenge. Rather than waiting for discounts on handhelds, consoles, and accessories like controllers to fall on my lap, I like to dive into the murky waters of the modern-tech-focused sale and emerge with a big classic system salmon in my mouth. That is to say, if you're really only interested in playing the oldies this year, I more than have you covered.

Many of the best retro consoles, including modern remakes like the Atari 2600+ and retro handhelds like the Super Pocket, will undoubtedly pop up this Black Friday. Whether the prices will actually hit record lows remains to be seen, as even hardware for playing the classics hasn't been safe from RAMageddon this year. But, if there is a time to grab gadgets for playing old games, it's during the sale season, and if you're savvy, you can find savings ahead of time.

My personal strategy involves focusing on the Black Friday deals that will make a difference to your classic gaming experience, rather than gunning for the biggest discounts. As a retro gaming journalist and enthusiast who's also experienced more than a few Black Friday events in my lifetime, I'm always wary of the sales event. Yes, you can find new console contraptions, emulation handhelds, and accessories for less, but there's no guarantee you'll either find exactly what you're looking for or be able to grab gizmos for their rock-bottom prices.

I also want to stress that you shouldn't go hunting for original retro consoles from decades ago this Black Friday. That will only lead to either disappointment or potentially being scammed by third-party sellers who are pretending to discount vintage tech in line with the event to make out like you're getting a deal. If you're just starting your classic console journey, your best bet is to look for your desired platform second-hand and weigh up going rates, and the sale will be there for when you need accessories and add-ons.

Ultimately, even retro console remake deals are becoming a rarity during Black Friday, and even when I do see systems like the Atari 7800+ discounted, you're not getting a lowest-ever price. It's for that reason that I usually advise friends, family, and readers to focus on the smaller buys that add up to a bigger overall discount, with retro controllers, adapters, and cheaper handhelds usually serving up the more meaningful savings.

For instance, if you've been looking for a way to enhance old visuals on a modern display, the sale could be an ideal time to consider an HDMI upscaler, and my go-to options like the OSSC and the GBS-C (an absolute must if you're looking into how to play PS2 games), usually get meaningful discounts. If you'd rather stick to an even tighter budget, passthrough HDMI adapters will be in abundance too, but I'd check back here for advice on which dongles to go for.

While I've already highlighted retro controllers as a Black Friday highlight, you'd be surprised how a simple gamepad swap can freshen up your setup. While that's a specific homebrew solution for N64 players, there are plenty of similar gizmos for consoles across all generations. Recently, I picked up a PSxMemCard Gen2 for my PS2, and not only does it have the power to act like 8,000 virtual memory cards (no, really), it comes with FreeMcBoot all set up and ready to go, just in case you fancy running DIY projects or bypassing pesky region locking.

As a sort of "nice if it's there", I'd also keep an eye out for HDMI plug-and-play systems and mini arcade machines. In a year that saw the best gaming laptops plagued with price increase after price increase, where even the previous year's releases weren't immune to inflated rates, and configurations with more than 16GB RAM suddenly shot up to a premium, you'd be forgiven for losing Black Friday optimism. 2026 has seen component scarcity on another level, with RAM shortages and SSDs shooting up the price scale leaving manufacturers, retailers, and ultimately us the players to pick up the pieces.

What does that mean for 2026 Black Friday gaming laptop deals? We'll likely still see the same level of discounts, but with starting prices so high it's unlikely we'll get near to the lows of previous years. Gaming laptops are, on average, roughly 38% more expensive at the time of writing compared to Black Friday last year (see below). That's nearly double the 20% we'd usually expect to see taken off in the holiday sales (Adobe).

It's not all doom and gloom, though. Yes, we're going to be paying more for Black Friday gaming laptop deals this year but if you need an upgrade there are still discounts to be found. Average prices are going to look a little higher but there are also ways to mitigate these increases. Gaming laptops with 16GB RAM, rather than the 32GB we saw creeping into a lot more listings last year, are more common these days and will still see you through the vast majority of modern releases (avoid any 8GB RAM models that may pop up). Opting for a FHD display rather than a QHD upgrade can also keep those numbers lower, as can putting off that OLED upgrade for another few years.

Walmart has Alienware's cheapest gaming laptop down to $899 this week. You're not going to get the full grunt of a chunkier rig here, but the RTX 4050 under the hood will handle lighter titles at 1080p and you're still getting the all-important 16GB RAM.

MSI Vector 16 HX AI (RTX 5070 Ti): was $1999 now $1599
The MSI Vector is often pitched under average selling prices, but with $400 off at Newegg it's looking particularly competitive in the RTX 5070 Ti space right now. It's a shame this GPU is paired with a FHD display, though, as this is really QHD territory.

Black Friday gaming laptop deals are due to hit their peak on November 27, however this year (like the years before), we're expecting discounts to run all the way through the month. Official sales could start even earlier. Last year Amazon ran its own Prime-only week that essentially kickstarted the entire holiday event in mid-October.

How much should you pay for a gaming laptop in 2026?

I've been watching gaming laptop deals closely over the course of the year. Back in March, I dived into the actual value on offer between each mobile GPU to find the best upgrade. From Best Buy's listing pages, that revealed that the average selling price of an RTX 50-Series gaming laptop (as sold at the time of writing) was as follows:

RTX 5090: $4,646.08
RTX 5080: $2,974.64
RTX 5070: $2,239.01
RTX 5060: $1,514.94

Taking the RTX 5070 as a sweet spot, I followed up in July when discussing Nvidia's new 12GB model in a Lenovo Legion 7a listing. The average price of an RTX 5070 (with discounts taken into account) then was $2,209.05 with an RTX 5070 Ti looking to run you $2,491.46 on average at Best Buy.

Where do we stand today?

At the time of writing (September 2026), Best Buy's current average gaming laptop prices split by GPU look like this:

The Black Friday gaming laptop deals we reported on last year were all, obviously, much cheaper than this. From our recommendations 12 months ago, you'd be paying less than $1,000 for an RTX 5050 machine, an average of $1,214.89 for an RTX 5060, $1,599.99 for an RTX 5070, $1,842.99 for an RTX 5070 Ti, and $2,633.32 for an RTX 5080. Our top recommendation for RTX 5090 big spenders last year topped out at $3,099.99.

In general, gaming laptops typically take around 20% off their prices over Black Friday, but we're seeing price increases averaging 38% across RTX 50-Series machines compared to last year's offers. That means we're not going to return to last year's rates. In 2026, you want to be aiming for somewhere between last year's average deal prices and today's average rates. Obviously, we've still got some wiggle room on those discounts to go yet but when the heat is on I'd be expecting to pay the following for a gaming laptop.

What should you look for in this year's Black Friday gaming laptop deals?

Knowing the model and spec you're on the hunt for is sometimes half the battle when it comes to big sale events. Prices will drop quickly once we get into October, so it's important that you're crystal clear on exactly what you want to get out of your machine. That way you can make a decision fast, and speed is often a crucial factor when competing in the higher quality flash sales.

If you're after an entry level system to play smaller titles or indie games, it's worth pitching your spec at an RTX 4050 or RTX 5050 graphics card and 16GB RAM. You might not need to invest too much in a larger SSD for this use - your games will be smaller and you've got more room to be efficient in your storage use. Do make sure, however, that you're getting a nice 1080p screen with a refresh rate of at least 120Hz to make sure you're future proofed up top.

If you're looking to sprinkle some larger Triple-A releases in there, it might be time to upgrade your watchlist. The extra cash will steer you into RTX 5060 / RTX 5070 territory - the sweet spot for generalist use. You'll be able to get clean and smooth gameplay on larger titles with this kind of configuration, with performance holding up even with the same 16GB RAM under the hood. A 1TB SSD is a must here.

Looking to blast through newer releases on Ultra settings without breaking too much of a sweat? It's time to boost your spec. An RTX 5080 GPU will see you through here. You'll be spending between $2,000 and $3,000 on an RTX 5080 rig day to day, with higher prices reserved for machines with luxury displays and more RAM.

Those after an RTX 5090 machine will be the real heavy-hitters. You'll be looking to use demanding ray tracing features constantly and with High or Ultra settings enabled. Do make sure, though, that you're not picking up a gaming laptop particularly cheap just because it's skimping on the screen, though. You'll want a QHD+ or UHD display at around 240Hz to really make the most of your investment in that graphics card.

The MSI Katana is my go-to budget gaming laptop but its sturdy build quality and QHD display configurations don't let it down. I tested an RTX 5060 model, but if I was putting my trust in an entry level GPU I'd seek this chassis out.

RTX 5060: Lenovo Legion 5

For the RTX 5060 value sweet spot I always recommend the Lenovo Legion 5. It's a little more difficult to find at the truly right price day to day at the moment, but if you can scoop up that OLED display and slimline chassis you'll have a gaming laptop that feels far more premium than it should in the hands.

RTX 5070: HP Omen Max 16

The HP Omen Max 16 (or the HyperX Omen Max 16 if you opt for 2026's refresh) is my top-tested gaming laptop and if you're investing in a slick chassis to match that RTX 5070 juice it's particularly well positioned.

RTX 5080: Razer Blade 18

Yes it's expensive but every RTX 5080 gaming laptop worth its salt is going to hurt the wallet at the moment. If you're serious about investing a wad of cash, the luxury experience of the Blade 18 is well worth the extra pennies and the performance of the RTX 5090 version I tested nearly bested the most powerful rig I've had on my desk so far.

Big spenders want big performance and with a 4K display, the highest benchmark scores I've seen in testing, and a turbo-charged Gen 5 SSD the MSI Raider A18 HX has you covered.

Is Black Friday a good time to buy a gaming laptop?

I see gaming laptop deals landing year-round - and some of them may beat Black Friday's prices. However, the vast majority of record low prices we see come from these November sales. That's because retailers and brands are readying for a new wave of releases to be announced in January, and need to shift a good amount of the previous year's stock before that happens. Black Friday gaming laptop deals' placement at the end of the year primes even newer configurations for particularly special savings. On top of that, this is the most popular savings event of the year, which means there's plenty more competition driving prices even further down.

I've been watching the Neo Geo mini over the entire sale season, and its price hasn't budged much. That's unsurprising given it has already fallen pretty far from its original MSRP, but I'm pleased to report that the tiny cabinet is now sitting lower than ever, and I'm not giving Cyber Monday the credit.

The current Neo Geo Mini offer knocks the compact arcade machine down to $51.90 from $59.90. That latter price tag is fairly typical, but you've got both an on-page discount and a coupon bringing the collectable retro console down to a new record low.

Save $8.69 - This looks like a smallish discount, but what you're actually getting is a plug-and-play fighting game machine that has already dropped from its original $129 MSRP. It normally sits at around $60, but it's now closer to $50 in what is a record low deal. Best of all, it's not even a Cyber Monday retro deal, which just goes to show its just worth looking for random discounts without themed filters.

UK: £62.15 at AmazonView Deal

This offer on what is one of my favorite easy ways to play a bunch of great fighting games proves that Cyber Monday deals aren't the only discounts worth watching for. It also demonstrates how hard Amazon is to navigate during sale seasons, as there's actually an entirely different listing for this arcade machine sitting at full price. That means if you've got that one bookmarked, you'd end up missing out on this random coupon.

Even then, though, I actually bought this mini arcade machine at full price, and I think it was worth every penny. I am admittedly a sucker for tiny versions of things, and I had been debating picking up the minaturised Neo Geo MVS cabinet for quite a while. Nevertheless, if you're into the idea of having a quick all-in-one way to play some excellent SNK classics and the option to use it as a console on your TV, this is well worth grabbing.

The only real caveat with this machine is that its controls are a bit "meh". Rather than using authentic switches like its Sega Astro City mini counterpart, this little cab uses a big analogue stick and membrane buttons. Not idea if you care about authentic controls, but the good news is that it's TV and external gamepad abilities make up for that.

I do use the built-in 3.5-inch screen to play some arcade romps, but I largely use the Mini with my TV and 8Bitdo's Neo Geo controller (currently $26.99 at Amazon, FYI). The latter gamepad just so happens to be one of the most authentic takes on the Neo Geo CD controller out there, and I've had a blast playing everything from The King of Fighters to Samurai Shodown using its immensely clicky joystick.

I own most consoles, but there's a sizable Neo Geo gap in my collection. If you've got similar woes, this mini arcade machine will help you authentically play 40 SNK releases on something that feels like a console remake. The cabinet's HDMI output looks great on my LG OLED C4, even at 720p, and I do think using the 8Bitdo gamepad makes all the difference.

I highlight plug-and-play consoles and arcade machines like this throughout the year, and I often find they eventually vanish. That's because they're technically discontinued, and once sellers at sites like Amazon have limited supplies, they'll drive their prices up to collector levels. It's got to the point where I almost feel bad highlighting discounts like this, so I wouldn't deliberate too much on picking the retro system up if it sounds like your jam.

One of the most popular items every Cyber Monday is iPads, with even the smallest percentage discount on these expensive tablets saving you loads of money. But as we enter the final day of these annual sales, time is ticking down on the discounts, and so it's time to take stock of what's left.

Loads of earlier iPad deals I've seen have sold out, or worse: risen slightly in price so they still seem like a discount but aren't as good as they were. Plus, on the best-discounted iPads, certain color options and storage sizes are rapidly going out of stock even if some items still remain.

But there are still some really great iPad deals out there, so with only a few hours left of Cyber Monday in which to grab a bargain, let me run through you my favorite discounts. These run the gamut from cheap to pricey iPad, as I've tried to choose from a spectrum, and many of the retailers I've picked still have tablets for a tiny bit less than the competition...

The Cyber Monday retro deals are technically over, but there are still big savings right now on some mini arcade cabinets, handhelds, and more. While many prices will jump back up to full, and some discontinued consoles could even end up more expensive if supplies are depleted, there are still some remaining discounts for anyone seeking ways to play the classics.

It's not an exaggeration to say that Pokemon cards can be an absolute nightmare to get your hands on, so any kind of discount can feel like finding a shiny version of your favorite pocket monster. That's why this Black Friday offer made my eyes pop a little bit.

You can currently pick up the Phantasmal Flames Charizard ex Ultra Premium Collection for $174.99 at Walmart rather than the store's listed price of $250-odd. Which may not feel like a very reasonable price, seeing as that MSRP is drastically inflated. But I've been covering Pokemon cards for a while now and can safely say that it's far, far cheaper than I'm seeing elsewhere. Indeed, the pack has proven incredibly difficult to find as is, so it's well worth considering if you're a fan of one of the best card games.

Phantasmal Flames Charizard X Ex Ultra Premium Collection | ~~$249.95~~ $174.99 at Walmart
Save $74.96 - Even though that's still above MSRP, it's far superior to any price I'm seeing elsewhere. With that in mind, I'd actually recommend going for this if you were at all tempted or would like a good starting point for Phantasmal Flames. You may struggle to find anything better in the near future.

So, what are you actually getting in this pack of Pokemon cards? It's pretty stacked, all things considered, and serves as a solid starting point for anyone wanting to kick off the Phantasmal Flames set in style. To start with, you're obviously getting the foil promo card featuring Mega Charizard X ex - no surprises there, seeing as it's shown very prominently on the cover. However, you're also getting a foil promo card with Oricorio ex, 65 card sleeves showing Mega Charizard X, a Mega Charizard X playmat, a Mega Charizard X metal coin, six damage-counter dice, and 18 booster packs. Oh, and don't forget the code card for Pokemon TCG Live.

Does it suck that we have to pay over the odds for the privilege of this, even during the Black Friday Pokemon card deals? Absolutely. But unfortunately, that's just the reality of the situation right now. Unless you're incredibly quick and/or lucky enough to find the cards at launch price via the Pokemon Center or indie sites (which is easier said than done, seeing as they sell out almost instantly), we've got no other choice.

Normally, I'd be loath to suggest paying over the odds for something like this. But considering the average cost of the pack is around $213 according to price-matching software, $175 is actually pretty good by comparison.

With all the big-ticket discounts, it's easy to forget how many video game deals there are over Black Friday. Titles new and old, big and small, and on all platforms see discounts of varying amounts.

You could very easily spend the entire Black Friday weekend hunting down all sorts of discounts on video game, window shopping to your heart's content, but you don't need to. That's because I've found several great deals per (modern) console, on titles you need to play. While the most flashy Black Friday TV deals are on expensive sets with specs like micro-LED, QLED, 120Hz and 8K resolutions, you don't need to spend a lot to get a lot. I've picked my five favorite discounted sets, which all cost under $300.

Because I don't want you to feel like you've wasted your money, the sets I've picked are all from known and reliable brands. They come with a variety of specs and software, but they're all under $300 with their discounted price. Most are 55-inches, because that size when discounted comes just under the price threshold, but if you want a smaller panel, those are discounted too. Oh, and they're all 4K, because you deserve nothing less.

TCL Q6-series 55-inch | ~~$449.99~~ $279.99 at Target

Save $170 - I picked this TV because of how that 38% price cut brings this otherwise-pricey panel to well within my stated budget. Plus it's a QLED screen which is unusual for the price.View Deal

Why did I cap the price at $300? Well generally, I'd say $400-$450 is what you have to pay, to make sure you're getting a set without any annoying limitations or compromises. However over Black Friday, that threshold lowers to roughly $300. I'd buy any of these sets and would be perfectly happy with them.

The best Black Friday soundbar deals in 2025: upgrade your audio for less

It's hard to appreciate until you've tried it, but buying a soundbar can be the one purchase that palpably upgrades your gaming experience. These TV- or PC- compatible speaker bars offer much greater sound fidelity than screens' built-in panels, and over Black Friday they can also be subject to some heart discounts.

If you didn't know, Black Friday is now and so the soundbar deals are live now. Currently, we're seeing major price cuts in audio products from a range of major companies like JBL, Amazon, Roku and Bose. If you've already picked up a Black Friday TV deal, this will be the perfect accompaniment to it.

Just a note, on something that confused me before I covered audio. When you see a soundbar billed as 2.0, or 5.1, or 7.1, those numbers aren't some arbitrary grading system.

They in fact refer to the number of channels, and its ratio of full-range ones to subwoofers (the latter used for bass). So 5.1 means 5 normal speakers, one bass one. Generally, more is better, but most audio fans want some bass too, and only cheaper options are .2.

I've been digging into this pack myself and, as someone who adores both Stranger Things and D&D, it's making my nerd heart very happy. While it doesn't necessarily continue or kick off the Vecna campaign we saw play out during season 4, it's pitched by Eddie through in-universe notes as a good starting point for Dustin's first try as a Dungeon Master once Eddie has graduated school (eesh, little did he know). These are all themed around Eddie's homebrew world of Greyhawkins (a double reference, thanks to the Stranger Things town, but also the D&D setting of Greyhawk), but someone's clearly let slip about the Upside Down because some very familiar monsters have been included in the line-up as adversaries. Maybe Dustin, Mike, or Lucas passed them off as their own creations? Either way, it's a fun method of getting Upside Down shenanigans into play without it feeling forced.

Just like the 'standard' beginner box (which I think might be the best D&D Starter Set we've ever had), this has an abundance of user-friendly tools to help newcomers get going. Hand-drawn maps and tokens that look like Eddie made them using Sharpies are included to visualize combat; there are monster cards for easy reference, and you get item/spell cards to use rather than having to remember all those stats off the top of your head.

My favorite feature would have to be the adventure booklets, though. These have been weathered and made to look like official '80s-era sourcebooks, so they absolutely look the part. This is true of the entire pack, actually; it really doesn't feel like a cheap tie-in with a slap-dash Stranger Things overlay. A lot of thought and care has been put into it, and I'm totally in love with that original art style present throughout.

I'm a fan of how it takes you through how to run and play sessions step by step too; D&D can be intimidating to get into, but not here. Because it's so accessible, there's an argument to be made that it could be a good game to add to your collection this Holiday season...

When it comes to controllers, I'm a bit too monogamous for my own good. By that, I tend to get too comfortable with a specific gamepad and forget to branch out. However, the Gulikit Elves Pro 2 recently entered my life, swept me off my feet, and has prompted me to essentially ditch most other gamepads I used to use, including the Switch Pro controller.

Truth be told, the Gulikit Elves 2 Pro is the only controller I'd personally buy for PC and Switch this Black Friday. Luckily, it is down to $39.99 from $49.99 at Amazon, so that'll save me full price if I end up buying a player two pad for my partner. But, even without a discount, I'm pretty head over heels for this pad and its premium perks, which include hall effect thumbsticks, a 1,000Hz polling rate, and HD haptics.

Gulikit Elves 2 Pro controller | ~~$49.99~~ $39.99 at AmazonSave $10 - This is frankly an absolutely solid controller under $40, and it's only the second time it has dropped to that price point. The Gulikit Elves Pro 2 might look like a retro gamepad, but it's boasting plenty of premium perks and a sleek design that make it a full-fat, travel-friendly accessory for everything from PC to the Switch and Steam Deck.

Before getting my mitts on the Elves 2 Pro, I figured it'd end up just being one of my retro controller alternatives, or at least something I'd use with the best retro consoles and an adapter. While it more than fills that brief, its compact Sega Saturn-inspired shape, d-pad, and full-size thumbsticks make it one hell of a PC controller that will work with just about every device you can think of.

Look, I get it - the Elves 2 Pro looks weird. Upon showing the gamepad to our in-house reviewer, Duncan, he dunked on it by saying, "It looks like what a non-gamer would sketch if you asked them to draw you a gaming controller. One of my retro console-collecting pals also described it as a "Sega Saturn pad on steroids," which honestly sounds like an accidental compliment.

I've spent enough time testing the Elves Pro 2 to know Gulikit shouldn't lose any sleep over those comments. Its controller feels ridiculously comfortable in the hands for something with a '90s shape, and every button press feels fantastically tactile. I've been using it to play everything from Mario Kart World on Switch 2 to even outings on Steam Deck, and I haven't once felt like I'm using something with an antiquated design.

Controllers are pretty subjective, so I completely get if you'd rather have something with modern grips. The gamepad's color palette might also be lost on those of you who've never actually seen an original Japanese Sega Saturn pad, but believe me when I say Gulikit has nailed the look and the feel of that now 30-year-old accessory. Even the texture of the d-pad is spot-on, which is funny given even exact replicas I've tried aren't quite right.

Before it starts to sound like the Gulikit Elves 2 Pro, I want to highlight some drawbacks. The first is a biggie if you're into racing games, as this gamepad doesn't use analogue triggers. Just like the Switch Pro controller, they're digital, so no pressure sensitivity or variable input. It's certainly not a dealbreaker for Ninty's console, and I would argue that unless you've got a specific preference for shooters or you love driving games with acceleration, it's not going to be a huge con.

I am still testing the Elves Pro 2, so I'll be sharing full thoughts after the Black Friday storm blows over. That said, I'm willing to call it the best controller for Steam Deck at the very least, as it's travel-friendly without compromising on full-feeling controls. For under $40, I can't think of a gamepad I've tested with better build quality, perhaps other than the 8Bitdo N64 controller that's designed to pair with the Analogue 3D, but even then, I could use this pad for every single system I own (and I do own a lot of them).

And yes, there are plenty of other controllers out there that the rest of my team will recommend this Black Friday. This just happens to be the only one I'd buy that's discounted right now, especially given the value it packs for under $40.

Should you buy the Crucial P310 4TB Internal SSD for the PS5?

I actually needed 4TB worth of every space, so this drive was a perfect fit. If you prefer physical games online, don't play online games like Fortnite that take a nasty chunk of your onboard console storage with every update, and are not an active PS Plus member, you likely won't have the need to have 4000GB at your disposal.

For me, it's been a relief as I've been able to focus purely on what I want to play, and have been able to spend less time in my console settings picking out what games to delete. In fact, because of this drive, I reinstalled Fortnite as I finally had the over 90GB worth of space to keep it around, and as a result, I've been able to enjoy the latest Simpsons crossover, which is a big deal as I'm pretty obsessed with the residents of Springfield. I've enjoyed it so much that I rejoined Fortnite Crew too, something I'd not have bothered with had I been stuck with the storage-demanding needs of the game.

While its 4TB storage is all well and good, this drive is definitely not as speedy as the Samsung 990 Pro mentioned earlier, but it's not too bad either. According to its on-the-box specs, the Crucial P310 4TB Internal SSD can reach average sequential reads/writes up to 7,100 and 6,000MB/s, which is pretty much what you'd expect. The recommended sequential speed for a PS5 dive is at least 5,500 MB/s, so you're not going to have any issues loading or running games straight off the Crucial P310 SSD at least - it'll get the job done.

Of course, if money is no issue and you'd rather have the best of the best, you can still grab the 2TB Samsung 990 Pro for $199.99 at Amazon right now. Just don't come crawling to me when it drops back down to the $170 mark after Black Friday is over and done with.

Should you buy the Seagate Storage Expansion?

If you've not faced any storage problems with your Xbox Series X or Series S, you don't need the Storage Expansion Cards. Keep on as you were. They also don't work for Xbox One or older consoles; only for the Series X or S.

But if you find yourself having to uninstall your favorite games to play new ones, or bumping up against the hundred-plus GB space of current titles, then you should seriously buying one of these cards. They can be plugged into your Xbox really simply, and games will run off of them just fine.

Admittedly, they're a little expensive at MSRP, especially the monstrous 4TB one, but that's what sales are for, right?

The Storage Expansion Cards will be particularly useful to owners of the Xbox Series X. Since that disc-free console can only play digital games, getting several terabytes of extra space will add so much space for new titles.

They'll also be great buys for people who use Xbox Games Pass, so you can download multiple titles from the subscription at once instead of juggling one or two at any time.

But many like them, just for the assurances that you won't need to constantly play Tetris with your storage space to make sure you can play new games when you get them.

After struggling through the Black Friday deluge like Obi-Wan Kenobi in a Kamino downpour, I think I've finally found the ~~bounty hunter~~ Lego Star Wars deal we're looking for.

The UCS Jango Fett's Firespray-Class Starship set came out earlier in 2025, and like many of the best Lego sets, has stubbornly clung to full price for the majority of its time on shelves. That's all changed in time for Black Friday, though, and the kit just got slashed in cost for Walmart's Lego Star Wars sale, dropping down to $268 instead of the usual $300. It's certainly one of the better Black Friday Lego deals I've seen as a result.

Save $30 - I'm pretty sure this is the cheapest price we've seen for the high-end 2025 set. As with all UCS (Ultimate Collector Series) models, this one is very rich in detail. At 2,970 pieces, it's a massive kit that crams in more than most of its peers; this one has the usual ramps and opening compartments you'd expect from a Lego vehicle, but opts for a to-scale cockpit, adjustable cannons, landing and flight modes, and a compartment from which to release a seismic charge. You know, just in case you get tailed by pesky Jedi.

There are a couple minifigures along for the ride too; you of course get Jango Fett himself (with helmet or maskless) and little Boba Fett, decked out in his Kamino tunic.

If that feels a little pricey, even as part of the Black Friday Lego sale, don't worry. The smaller, cheaper version is also available for less than usual, and you can grab Lego Jango Fett's Starship for $55.99 at Walmart instead of the normal $69.99 MSRP. This one is basically the UCS model's smaller brother; it shares the same design but is shrunken right down, serving as much as a playset as a display piece.

Honestly, now I'm curious to see if we get a repainted Boba Fett version. The ship doesn't really change beyond the color-scheme when we see it in the original trilogy, so it feels like a slam dunk for Lego; they can relaunch it with a Boba Fett minifigure, perhaps a cheeky Han Solo in carbonite, and maybe Fennec Shand and Mandalorian-era Boba so that you can use the model to represent either period.

If you just got yourself a Nintendo Switch 2 this Black Friday but aren't best pleased about the handheld's measly 256GB onboard storage, you're gonna need a microSD Express Card.

Do you need a microSD Express Card for the Nintendo Switch 2?

If you want any additional storage for your new Ninty handheld, you'll need to invest in one of the best microSD Express Cards available today. That's because only these new speedy cards can provide the faster data reading and writing speeds required to run and store your current (and future) Switch 2 games.

Older Switch SD cards are still technically compatible with your new handheld, but only to transfer screenshots and game clips.

Fortunately, not only are more brands, from Samsung to Lexar, launching new capacity microSD Express Cards on the regular, but Nintendo has an official card of its own in the form of the 256GB Samsung microSD Express Card, which features some adorable red and white Super Mario branding. Black Friday Paramount Plus deals are live, grab two months for $2.99/mo

There are loads of shows on Paramount Plus I've been meaning to catch up on — Landman, MobLand and Lioness come to mind — and so the streaming service's new Black Friday deal comes at a perfect time to fill my holiday viewing schedule.

You can save up to $10 on your first two months of a Paramount Plus subscription right now. That means the cost is just $2.99 per month for 60 days of straight viewing — I reckon with some committed watching I could make a pretty big dent in my back-catalog in that time! After that, you roll into a standard-price subscription.

There are a few big differences between Paramount Plus Essential and Premium. Perhaps most notably, the former has commercials, whereas the latter is ad free.

Premium also lets you download shows to watch offline, stream in a 4K quality and watch content from the Showtime library, none of which are supported by Essential. Given that they cost the same in the sales, I'd of course recommend signing up for Premium, and perhaps downgrading to Essential if you want to keep access to the library but without the high fee.

If, like me, you've been waiting for Black Friday deals to catch up on the Paramount Plus library, then it's an easy sign-up. The price won't be this cheap until next Black Friday, so it's the perfect time to subscribe.

If you're looking at more general Black Friday streaming deals, though, it's a harder proposition, because in some ways the Paramount Plus discount is worse than other brands, but in one way it's better.

Other streaming services are offering you far longer-lasting discounts than two months. The Disney Plus and Hulu bundle, and deals on Starz and HBO, all last a whole year, while Apple TV Plus' discount continues for 6 months of a subscription. So you're not saving as much money with Paramount.

But at the same time, you're not spending as much either, as you're not committed to a whole year of streaming. So if you don't think you need to subscribe for that long, it might be a great way to see some shows without breaking the bank.

Apple's cheapest iPad just hit a brand new record-low price for Black Friday

I've gamed on all kind of tablets, including meaty iPad Pros and giant Android tablets. But honestly, if you're on a budget, the entry-level iPad is an affordable powerhouse — and a fantastic Black Friday iPad deal has brought the newest-gen model down to its lowest-ever price.

The Apple iPad A16, which launched earlier this year, can be found for just $274 at Amazon, marking $75 or 21% off its MSRP. That's a great price on tech that isn't very old, and the savings extend to the cell models as well as various storage sizes. Even the much-pricier 512GB model has a $70 saving, for example, and these all mark the best Black Friday iPad deals of the year.

Save $75 - This is the lowest price we've seen Apple's newest standard-series tablet drop to, beating the Prime Day discount and even the pre-Black Friday saving. I don't imagine it'll go this cheap again until its successor is out, so it's worth grabbing now. The savings are on a range of color models.

To give you a quick run-down of the tablet's specs, it has an Apple A16 chipset as well as an 11-inch Liquid Retina display. The front and back cameras are both 12MP, and the tablet has Touch ID built into the power button. Like all of Apple's new tablets, it uses the modern thin-bezel design. Accessories like a keyboard folio or stylus don't come included.

The base model, which I've covered in the deal, has 128GB storage. That's enough for a light entertainment device, for watching Netflix or Apple TV Plus, but may not be enough for gamers, students or business users. The 256GB and 512GB models provide you more space but while they are on offer too, the prices are still higher.

Should you buy the iPad for gaming?

I really rate the iPad for gaming.

Partly, that's because it provides you access to Apple Arcade, the company's games hub which provides you access to quite a few great mobile games. There are over 200 titles and some of my personal picks include Slay The Spire, Balatro, Really Bad Chess and What The Golf?.

This is a paid additional subscription but new purchases of Apple tech generally include a free trial, which you can use to test out the platform.

Beyond that, there are plenty of great games on iPad and the A16 can handle them all. I have a different, slightly weaker iPad and I still easily get stuck into games like Mechanicus, Lego Star Wars, Minecraft, Tropico and several Total War titles. My particular Achilles' Heel is XCOM 2, and I find myself getting stuck into a new playthrough every few months.

Most of those games are PC or console games which have been ported over to iPad, and that's mainly my preference so I can enjoy PC games on the go, but there are plenty of other titles built for the mobile experience too.

If this has won you over to team iPad gaming, then this deal is really worth jumping on. I'd only advise avoiding it if you need a more powerful slate for work or your other hobbies, but there are deals on those too:

Starting out on your Pokemon card journey can be quite an expensive endeavour. Blister or booster packs can be relatively affordable, but the more you get, the more the price adds up over time. Adding bundles or Trainer Boxes into the mix just makes everything even pricier, but thankfully, this week's Black Friday sales can help kick-start your collection.

There is a Snorlax-sized amount of Black Friday Pokemon card deals in the wild today. If you're just getting started, though, we recommend grabbing smaller blister packs or battle decks. These will help you build up a collection for one of the best card games without a high up-front cost, but there are a few offers on larger options in case you want to go all in.

Word to the wise, the Pokemon TCG hobby can be pretty competitive, especially when it comes to just buying packs. I've been collecting since the 90s and can struggle to find new sets online and in person, no matter if it's Black Friday or not. If you have your eyes on any packs, I recommend picking them up as soon as you can, as you can bet they won't be in stock for long.

For most gamers who are yet to take the plunge into PC gaming or upgrade their aging computers, cost is the most commonly cited reason they don't. Consoles, handhelds, or laptops can be a smaller investment, so I don't blame people. Black Friday gaming PC deals are upon us though, and this wonderful time of the year makes it much easier to build a desktop system of your own.

Buying one of the best gaming PCs, or assembling the parts for one, doesn't need to cost as much as it usually does when you know how to use November's sales. I fully appreciate that a gaming PC is still the most expensive type of platform to invest in, but it's almost always the most futureproofed as well, and will give you better performance than more affordable alternatives.

I'm a full-tme PC gamer these days, but I know it can be daunting getting to grips with this market. As a test, and to help you decide how much you'd need to spend for a decent PC at the moment, I decided to use the Black Friday deals that are already available to assemble the parts for a 1440p gaming rig.

Now, I had a few rules while shopping. I had to use discounted parts - while a few alternatives may be cheaper than what I recommend here, I'm trying to draw attention to the sorts of savings you can make on typically pricey components at the moment. I also wanted to use exclusively current-gen components where possible. Again, I appreciate that you could build an even more affordable gaming PC with older parts, but again, I'm trying to prove my point that even the most up-to-date parts aren't completely unaffordable at this time of year.

MSI MAG B850 Tomahawk MAX WiFi | ~~$219~~ $189.99 at Amazon
Save $30 - Let's kick things off with the motherboard, since it's going to be the thing that the rest of the machine revolves around. If I were to build myself a new machine today, this would be the motherboard I'd choose. I helped a friend build his first gaming PC with this board earlier in the year, and I was amazed at the quality of life benefits it had which made building on it so easy. It's currently seeing its lowest ever price, and for its futureproofing features, I think it's a great deal.

NZXT H5 Flow | ~~$119.99~~ $89.99 at Amazon
Save $29 - Next up, the case the PC will go in, which I've chosen as the larger version of my own PC's case. I rebuilt my gaming and work PC earlier in the year in NZXT's H3 Flow, which I'd recommend for our build today, but it's not big enough to take the motherboard we've chosen. I've decided on this case because it's essentially the exact same case, just a bit bigger, and it has three frontal RGB fans installed as standard which means we'll save money on them elsewhere.

AMD Ryzen 5 9600X | ~~$279~~ $195 at Amazon
Save $84 - For the processor, I had originally wanted to go for the AMD Ryzen 5 8600G, but it's not discounted anywhere for Black Friday, and do you know what, this more up-to-date Ryzen 9000 Series model is only $20-30 more, and is discounted by a fairly large chunk, so lets go for that. I tested the 8600G (essentially the older version of this) up at 4K, so I have no problem with saying this will serve you absolutely fine in 1440p.

ASRock Challenger Arc B580 | ~~$269.99~~ $249.99 at Newegg
Save $249 - Alright, it's GPU time. Now, I haven't had any hands-on time with Intel's current generation of graphics cards, but I used to use the Intel Arc A770 as my daily driver, and that could comfortably play games at 4K with reasonable settings - and that was back when XeSS upscaling was still really establishing itself in a lot of games. From all of the critics and user reviews I'm seeing, this is a more than capable GPU at Quad HD. I understand if you'd rather look into a GPU that's got wider upscaling support though, so I've linked below to the most affordable RTX 5060 I can see right now.

Samsung 980 Pro 2TB | ~~$168~~ $166 at Amazon
Save $2 - I'm going to level with you on this. SSD prices suck right now, and this is technically breaking my rule since it's a slightly older component. In fact, the faster Samsung 990 Pro and Samsung 9100 Pro are both out now, the latter of which would be my ideal pairing for our motherboard's Gen 5 SSD slot. To be completely honest though, I think those drives are too pricey to justify at the moment, and this very small discount is only subtracting from the 980 Pro's average price at Amazon. Long and short of it is, this is still a great SSD, its price is reasonable in the current economy, and I'll hear no more about it.

T-Force Delta RGB DDR5 RAM 16GB (2x8GB) | ~~$149.99~~ $129.99 at Newegg
Save $20 - I knew going into this that finding RAM at a reasonable price would be the hardest part. Thankfully, T-Force has come to the rescue. Annoyingly, before AI drove up the cost of memory, you could have had 32GB of this RAM for a similar or less money. But as it stands, this is probably the most affordable RAM I'd recommend at present. The good news is, 16GB of DDR5 is enough for the vast majority of people.

NZXT Kraken Plus 240 AIO | ~~$139.99~~ $119.99 at Amazon
Save $20 - This is the cooler I use in my own PC, so I can attest to its great cooling performance. Arguably, you could get a much cheaper AIO than this if you wanted to. I'm recommending this purely since it's the one I personally use, and it can be a more expensive option, so seeing it in a Black Friday deal makes me want to point at it.

Corsair RMe Series RM850e PSU | ~~$144.99~~ $89.99 at Newegg
Save $55 - And capping things off, the PSU I've chosen is one of Corsair's modular ones. I've built four PCs with this brand's power supplies, and they've never failed me. Not to mention, this one is seeing a pretty generous discount.

And there we have it! I haven't included the screwdriver, thermal paste, or the peripherals you might need for a desk setup, since that's not technically a part of the PC. I've focused on the things you actually need to build a gaming computer here, and because I expected the modern components to draw the price closer to $2,000, I'm actually pretty happy with the budget result.

All in all, for this full system, you'll spend $1,230.94 - which, for a very up-to-date, futureproofed, and capable 1440p gaming rig, is not bad at all. Keep in mind, you could swap out parts where you feel it's necessary, and you don't need to stick to the modern components I have here.

It's hard to draw a direct comparison to a prebuilt PC here to see which would cost you less, but from the deals I've been looking at this year, that fits somewhere between an RTX 5060 and RTX 5070 gaming PC if you were to buy prebuilt. That said, prebuilts tend to skimp on some of the other components, and in this you're getting a futureproofed motherboard, an AIO cooler (which you don't usually get in a prebuilt of this price), and you're getting a decent SSD (which again, can be slower in prebuilds).

Keep in mind that if the RAM and overall specs you're looking for aren't fitting your budget right now, then take a look at the prebuilt deals. Just last week, early Black Friday gaming laptop deals bestowed upon us a brand new record-low price on any RTX 5060 gaming laptop I'd seen yet. That was on an HP Omen rig, a model not unfamiliar with heavier discounts. I was surprised to see a three-figure price tag here, but not as impressed as I was when I stumbled upon this Alienware gaming laptop deal.

Yes, Alienware, the brand renowned for buffing its luxury gaming laptop prices. The brand currently has an RTX 5060 configuration of its 16-inch Aurora machine down to just $999.99 at Dell, for a full $350 discount. This is only the second time I've seen those kinds of numbers on a new-gen device of this class.

Alienware wins in the build quality department from my experience, but it's also worth noting that you're getting a slightly faster 144Hz panel on the Omen - something that might come in handy if you're running lighter games in 1080p.

Should you buy the Alienware 16 Aurora?

This is one of the cheapest Alienware machines on the shelves right now, and I'm not expecting to see too many other RTX 5060 models dropping below $1,000 in this year's Black Friday gaming laptop deals. If you're set on Dell's brand and would prefer a sturdy, premium design compared to a faster screen and more storage this is absolutely worth a look.

This rig shares an aesthetic with the Alienware 16X Aurora I reviewed earlier in the year, and she's a beauty. You're not paying for any unneccessary garnish like the Alienware 16 Area-51, but still getting a solid, sleek machine with a whimsical nod in its slightly iridescent material.

As excited as I am to see an Alienware gaming laptop at under $1,000, though, HP wins this bout for anyone after the best component value. You're getting a slightly better processor, 1TB of storage, and a faster screen for the exact same price here, though these more generic rigs don't tend to look as flashy.

Getting your hands on a good 3D printer for beginners is a bit of a minefield. Many machines claim to be easy to understand, but the reality is... well, slightly different. Because getting your head around the process is so worthwhile (it's a rabbit hole of amazing props, cosplay, terrain, and miniatures), getting something that won't make you want to tear your hair out is pretty important.

I've been reviewing these machines for years now, and there's always one I suggest as a good 3D printer for beginners - the Elegoo Centauri Carbon. I use mine to create everything from tokens for the best tabletop RPGs to inserts for storing components from the best board games, and you can currently get it for a record low price.

So, what makes the Centauri Carbon worth grabbing over (excellent) competitors like Anycubic's Kobra range or something from the always-reliable Creality? As noted in my Elegoo Centauri Carbon review, this machine's accessibility, speed, and overall quality left me with very little to criticize.

It's the kind of machine I wish I had when I was just starting out; I fumbled through teaching myself the hobby and it was a real slog thanks to obtuse menus, the need for precise adjustments, regular print failures, and even the faff of setting the thing up. This one removes all those barriers to entry with a surprisingly straightforward system, auto-calibration (levelling manually is the bane of my life, I swear), and the ability to actually print out of the box. I don't mean in the sense some competitors claim, where assembly is required; you can get started right from the off.

The quality of prints is consistently high as well. This still won't meet the bar set by resin printers in terms of quality (those can't be beaten for small-scale, very crisp detail, which is why they're best for the likes of D&D character miniatures), but it's incredibly good compared to many of the filament-based machines I've used for review over the past few years.

Being in an enclosure is a feature I've really warmed to as well. Yes, it's handsome and feels oddly premium to have everything shut away - kind of like a Star Trek replicator, printing out nonsense for me behind closed doors. But it does help reduce noise as well, which is handy if you have the Centauri Carbon in your house.

Finally, the built-in camera lets you snoop on your projects while you're somewhere else. That means you can track progress, or just catch misprints sooner. That's more helpful than you'd think.

Is it perfect? Of course not. It's still noisier than I'd like, and I do think the Anycubic Kobra 3 Combo may have it beat for pure quality (not to mention the cool extra feature of multi-color prints). However, it's the ideal place to kick off your 3D-printing journey, and a fantastic all-rounder.

I have a strange inability to ever put things away, which - combined with a career in testing all manner of gaming gadgets - resulted in a hellscape of a desk for many years. I had enough last Black Friday and finally gave into something I'd been searching for for years; a desk pegboard.

These storage systems are nothing new, they were all over TikTok a while back and stuck in nearly every Temu marketing image for a bit as well. They've had their moment in the sun, then, but here's why I'd recommend returning to the idea this Black Friday, with a $12 Amazon discount on a board similar to the one I've been using for the last year.

Most office storage relies on shelves or drawers; big bulky cubbies that take up space on your desk top or knock against your legs underneath. I have a standing desk with a sprawling laptop setup, I've done my time with risers, shelves, stacks, and even a number of different hooks and bags.

A pegboard has a place for everything, predetermined by what you need to store. I use the little pots for pens, keyboard tools, cleaning fluid, and box knives, with a hook for my headset, a shelf for notebooks and storage drives, and a lip for a controller. Everything has its slot and, more importantly, I'm actually putting it there. It's slimline, doesn't take away from my desk space, and keeps everything at a moment's notice away.

There are a few things to look out for when grabbing a pegboard, though.

I opted for a clamp-on model rather than having to fully screw it into the wall, but both are equally easy to find. I'd recommend the clamp version if you regularly need to reach for accessories while seated - everything will be just that bit closer to you, but it will mean you lose a little space on some of the larger designs. I'd absolutely take that over a larger design if you use a standing desk, though - everything simply rises with me whenever I change position.

Why the Belkin Carrying Case should be your first Nintendo Switch 2 case

Like I briefly mentioned earlier, a Switch 2 case should be one of the highest shopping priorities when it comes to forming your new Ninty gaming setup, so long as you're a handheld mode fan. The best Switch 2 case I've tested so far isn't this model but actually the Belkin Charging Case however, it's pricey $69.99 MSRP makes it harder to recommend, especially when it hasn't been included in this year's Black Friday deals. Fortunately, the Belkin Carrying Case takes a lot after its more expensive brethren.

The cases are near identical when it comes to their interior storage, which includes a middle section that can store up to 12 Switch or Switch 2 games, and a small fabric mesh pocket for accessories. As this is a compact case, I recommend only storing smaller accessories like a spare set of Switch 2 Joy-Con rails or a charging case, so as not to put unnecessary extra pressure on your new handheld's 7.9-inch display when the case is fully zipped up though.

That's not all I love about this accessory, and why I recommend it as everyone's first Switch 2 case. Inside the fabric mesh pocket, there's a hidden Apple AirTag pocket, which you can use to keep track of your pricey Switch 2. I haven't used mine quite yet, but you can bet the next time I have to get on a plane for work, I'll be investing in a set of tags so I can feel reassured my Switch and my multiple-hour Pokemon Legends Z-A save file are out of the wrong hands.

If you'd prefer a case that's covered in cute Super Mario character art, you do have options like the Turtle Beach PlayTrek Travel Case, which shares a similar amount of storage, bar the absence of the hidden AirTag pocket. However, it remains at its $29.99 at Amazon with no discount to be seen. It's also a lot bulkier, which is yet another reason why the Belkin Carrying Case is always my go-to recommendation for new Switch 2 owners.

Less than $10 per terabyte, grab this massive hard drive for a record-low price at Walmart

When I made my own PC, I bought a 4TB hard drive, thinking that was more than enough space. I was quickly proven wrong. Perhaps I should have bought one of the ludicrously-huge Seagate Expansion hard drives, like the one that's currently at its lowest-ever price.

You can currently buy Seagate's 26TB hard drive for $249.99 at Walmart, which equals less than $10 per terabyte. Since releasing its Black Friday deals on November 25, I've found loads of intriguing items discounted at the retailer, but this behemoth is the one that's drawing my attention most of all.

The Seagate Expansion range of hard drives range from 4TB to 28TB, with options at intervals of 2TB. However only the multiples of 4 are readily ranged by Seagate, so the 26TB model is a little bit harder to find. However it's exactly the same price as the 24TB model is at discount (and also the 12TB model, strangely).

Seagate Expansions are easy-to-use desktop expansions which grant your PC or Mac a huge amount of extra space. They're not designed for gaming per se, but would be better for storing files like videos, photos, documents and projects which you import to your computer when you need them. It connects via USB 3.0 to your computer, though you need to plug it into mains power too.

Should you buy the Seagate Expansion 26TB hard drive?

There's no beating about the bush: 26TB is more than many people will need, or will ever use on their computers. But the kind of people who could use it, might really make the most of a deal like this.

I quickly stuffed my 4TB hard drive with various video projects — apparently creating your own library of self-shot b-roll footage chomps up space — and I know more serious film-makers who need tens of terabytes of storage for each project they work on.

Likewise people who work on gaming, music or animated projects might find that 26TB is a nice amount of space to fit everything they need.

You could also buy it as a big back-up for all of your files, which sits alongside a primary hard drive so you can ensure you're covered in case anything goes wrong. Common logic is to keep all of your important files in two places at once, and the Seagate Expansion could be one such place.

Even with these things in mind, you might not need 26TB, but other sizes of hard drive from various brands are also discounted:

In case you were wondering, this kit recreates that memorable opening scene from Star Wars: A New Hope. That's how I have mine at home; it sits on a shelf next to my desk. However, all those minifigs and their corridor battleground make it a great kit for kids who want something for their toybox. In addition, it has fun secrets like hinges that knock off minfigures when they're "blasted," along with a sliding door that can be 'detonated.' In other words, it's one of the best Star Wars gifts no matter the age of the person you're shopping for.

The Nacon Revolution X Unlimited controller is getting a stunning Xbox 360 colorway, but you can get the regular model for $50 cheaper right now

I think if I had to choose, the Nacon Revolution X Unlimited might be my favorite controller of 2025 - it certainly has the most premium feel of any controller I tested this year. To celebrate the anniversary of Xbox 360's launch, Nacon is releasing a commemorative colorway of this Xbox Series X controller next April, and at any other time of the year, I'd be recommending you pre-order it right away.

Black Friday deals are here, however, and it just so happens that the regular version of the Nacon Revolution X Unlimited is seeing a $50 discount at Amazon right now. Perhaps my biggest issue with this controller is its $200 price tag - even if it feels worth every penny, that's a lot to pay for a gamepad. But at its current level of $150, I think this thing is a steal versus the competition.

So which version of this controller should you go for? On one hand, you have a very faithful recall of the Xbox 360 design language. For fans of that console, this new skin for the Revolution X Unlimited is going to be very hard to turn down. Hell, I never owned an Xbox 360, and this celebratory colorway even has me desperate to add it to my collection. Nacon has really nailed the nostalgic aesthetics, even using the right thumbstick's RGB ring as a callback to the 360's ring of doom. The 360 colorway is available exclusively from Nacon, but you won't get the current Black Friday discount, and you'll need to pay the full $200 price.

On the other hand, you have a $50 discount on the regular version, and let's be honest, it's pretty easy on the eye too. I doubt that if you're shopping for one of the best PC controllers on the shelves, you'll care much about an all black color. And even if you're not such a big fan of its design versus the 360 model, you can't argue that a controller is more about functionality than looks, and if you can get all of the same features for less money, why not go for the cheapest version possible to save yourself the cash?

But then again, this 360 version will likely be in shorter supply and feels more like a collector's item. This is a tough choice.

To be clear, other than the looks, there are no differences between these two gamepads. No matter which tickles your fancy, you get a broad, tall, and sturdy feeling controller. The Revolution X Unlimited has four back buttons, two additional bumpers, and some of the best face buttons I've ever found on a controller. They have a clicky response, but they actuate with more feel than any other microswitch buttons I've come across.

As big a fan as I was of the Nacon Revolution 5 Pro, I love that Nacon didn't just port that controller to Xbox and PC players. The designers there actually listened to feedback and chose to improve it.

Although I did think it was a bit of a shame that the LCD screen Nacon put on the Xbox version didn't feel all that useful. Compared to other controllers with screens this year, like the Manba One, the UI felt very limited, and most of the customization settings of the RXU are still locked to PC software.

You do get some excellent accessories along with your purchase though. A charging stand and carry case are always nice, but I'm a fan of just how many add-ons actually arrive in the carry case. You can adjust the weight of the grips thanks to tiny dumbbells, and you can swap out a couple of thumbstick tops to align with your preferences. There's an alternate D-pad, and even some thumbstick restrictor rings.

If there were a more modular outlook to this controller, or you could swap out even more of its parts, I'd have found it very tough not to swap the RXU into our "best overall" position in our controller buying guides. It has a versatile, comfortable, and elite feel to it that I really enjoyed using. Annoyingly, the Victrix Pro BFG for Xbox allows a bit more adjusting for competitive players, and it's a bit cheaper. Excluding that device, this is probably one of my favorite controllers I've ever used, so whether you get the Xbox 360 version or the launch model at a $50 discount, you're onto a winner.

While ads can be a nuisance, there's no arguing with the value of that discount. Thanks to 61% off the sticker price, you'll be hard-pressed to find anything better. Actually, I'm not sure there is a better offer. I've been tracking both the streaming service and Black Friday Disney Plus deals for years now, and in my experience, you never seen anything close to this in terms of value apart from on Disney Plus Day in September (which doesn't seem to take place each year). With that in mind, I'd highly recommend diving in before the offer expires on December 1, 2025.

In terms of whether you should grab the with ads version or the one without, it depends on how much you think adverts will bother you. Although Hulu and Disney Plus without ads are on offer too, the price difference is pretty large. Indeed, you're paying $14.99 per month for 12 months rather than almost $20p/m, so the saving only works out at around 25% less than normal. Which is still very good considering how that's a total of $60 saved across a year, but it's not so steep a bargain as the ad-powered alternative. Why I keep returning to the SteelSeries Arctis Nova 3X Wireless headset

Each time I bring up this great value headset, I need to get this out of the way. I tested the Lavender SKU, so that's why the photo of it you see above is showing a lovely pastel purple shade. While I've never seen the 'Nova White' colorway in person, under its bright white exterior, it's the same pair that's secured its place on our best gaming headset guide, and the one I recommend to anyone and everything looking for a good-quality pair that's as close to the $100 price mark as possible.

Even at its full $109.99 MSRP, I'd fully recommend this headset, which is compatible with everything from the Xbox Series X/S, PS5, Nintendo Switch 2, Steam Deck, and your desktop gaming PC. I most commonly use it with my Switch 2, and that's because it's equipped with fast charging, which can juice it up with 9 hours of playback in just 15 short minutes. Let's start with that keyboard. The Newmen GM326 took me by surprise this year. Mechanical keyboards have been dropping their prices for some time now, but this is the first budget model I've tested that offers full (and easy) hot-swappability as well as a dedicated volume control dial. That latter feature is particularly rare in this cheaper market, but I was taken aback by just how good it all feels. There's very little echo, satisfyingly smooth switches, and rich bottom-out sound, and even a cushioned landing to each press here. You can pay three times this price tag and not find that.

The Razer Basilisk V3 has been on my radar for years, and it's a regular among my top recommendations when Black Friday deals turn up the heat. It's a wired mouse, but it still packs the high-end build quality Razer is known for. That's with plenty of buttons, a slick RGB underglow effect, and a comfortable wide base. This is an all-rounder that won't suit particularly competitive players but everyday users are set for excellent value overall.

Valve just officially kicked off Black Friday Steam Deck deals, as the 256GB LCD model is now 20% cheaper. Naturally, that's great news for anyone looking to scoop a handheld gaming PC for less than every current-gen console, but I'd personally use the discount to conjure up my own Steam Machine for under $400.

Okay, a big hear me out on this one, as I'm obviously aware that the Steam Deck LCD isn't on par with Valve's upcoming Steam Machine. The latter is a fully-fledged console alternative with 4K 60fps capabilities. But, if you're not too fussed about performance beyond 1080p on your TV and really just need a console alternative to plough through your Steam backlog and some indies, grabbing the gaming handheld while it's going for $319.20 makes complete sense.

I want to point out a few natural caveats to using a Steam Deck as a DIY Steam Machine, as they're not all related to raw performance. Yes, you'll be lucky if you hit 1080p 60fps in new games with a setup like this, never mind 4K like Valve's new box, but you'll also have half the storage by default since the handheld has 256GB. That's easily remedied by picking up a microSD card or even modding the portable with a SSD like the WD Black SN770M (it happens to be $79.99 at Amazon right now), but that will take you well over the $500 mark.

The other drawback ties to using most PC controllers out there with the Steam Deck, as you'll be missing out on the new Steam Controller's trackpads and gyro. You could pick up the HORIPAD for Steam and gain back the latter perk, but I'd probably just wait for the real deal if you really need handheld gamepad features.

Those aside, I'd say putting your own Steam Machine together using the handheld makes for a nice way to try Valve's living room console experience. If you find that you love the features and functionality of SteamOS, but need a bit more horsepower, it means the black box will be for you when it arrives. Keep in mind that we have no idea how much it will cost yet, and if it's pretty expensive, I'd absolutely explore alternatives before eventually splurging.

Forget Amazon or JB Hi-Fi — the best place to buy a PS5 in Australia this Black Friday is on eBay

Black Friday has proven an especially good one for prospective PlayStation owners. All versions of the console have seen steep discounts across a number of retailers, including JB Hi-Fi, Amazon and EB Games.

It's eBay that keeps surprising us, though. Last week, via the eBay The Gamesmen store, the PS5 Slim digital edition dropped to a record-breaking AU$449. But things have gotten marginally better now: It's possible to get the PS5 Slim digital edition with FC26 bundled in, for only AU$499 on the EB Games eBay store.

But that price can be reduced even further, to AU$450, if you're an eBay Plus subscriber and use the NOVSAVE coupon at checkout. An eBay Plus trial is free: sign up for 30 days, and make sure you set a calendar reminder to cancel before first billing.

My headline might seem a bit... over the top, but eBay is definitely offering the best prices on PS5 consoles at the moment. Amazon is basically sold out, while JB Hi-Fi do have very competitive prices, albeit not as good as eBay with the eBay Plus trial and coupon code.

Thumb grips aren't the first accessories most people conjure up in their heads when thinking of what Black Friday gaming deals they might want to pick up year on year, but they should be.

I'm a huge fan of the little add-ons, but I can't deny that they often get forgotten about over more significant accessories, from the best PS5 controllers themselves to the best gaming headsets, and it makes sense. If you've spent any time searching for thumb grips or thumbsticks at retailers like Amazon or Best Buy, you've likely come across ones made by KontrolFreek. The brand has been producing controller accessories for years, and its grips are focused on helping improve performance in games, no matter the platform.

Its performance-based thumbsticks are designed to improve comfort by decreasing the amount of force needed to move the controller levers in and out of its deadzone, so your hands feel less tired. This comfort is typically created by just the existence of its silicon-like material, as it adds a tiny bit of height to your basic sticks.

This is usually aided by some form of textured grip, whether it's just a series of small nodules like those found on the KontrolFreek Clutch for PlayStation 5 edition grips, or the crosshair-like design found on the First Person Shooter Galaxy Edition thumbsticks.

In July earlier this year, the brand teamed up with Microsoft to launch official Minecraft grips for PS5 and Xbox Series X/S controllers inspired by the game's iconic Creepers. The bright green grips cleverly used the character's blocky body and creepy face as the textured grip. This was followed by other releases, like the 'Kitty Edition' grips designed in homage to streamer CaseOh and his adorable black cat, and I can only hope KontrolFreek releases more design-focused versions in the future.

GeekShare is a brand that's all about its super cute accessories. The brand debuted its 'Cat Paw' collection back in 2017, and has since built up a huge back catalog of well-designed thumb grips. From cute little rainbows, little green aliens, to official Hello Kitty and Kuromi Sanrio versions, they're all about producing the most adorable grips for your controllers, with a particular focus on the Nintendo Switch and now the Nintendo Switch 2.

With an emphasis on design, there isn't much variation in the height of the brand's grips. Unlike KontroFreek, any pair of GeekShare grips won't have e-sports fans and competitive players in mind. Instead, the focus is all about giving your plain Nintendo Switch controllers a fresh new look - and the opportunity to match your gamepads (and handhelds) with the rest of your cute and cozy setup.

As they're not as large as mid or high-rise KontrolFreek grips, they can be annoying to attach to your controller sticks. When using the Halloween set, stretching the little pumpkins and ghosts over my old Switch OLED Joy-Con sticks takes a while, and I can always depend on them shooting off and rolling to the floor during heated Marvel Rival matches if I'm using some PS5 grips instead. That's because they don't just click in place like a lot of KontrolFreek's designs, making the setup process a lot more tedious.

In my years using GeekShare grips, I've come to discover that they are definitely about style over substance, but they aren't necessarily bad in quality. Having any grips at all can keep your controllers protected against everyday wear and tear, and their unique, cute designs add a perfect textured surface that, in my experience, makes using any controller a lot more comfortable.

They're pretty affordable and start at around $9.99 / £9.99 on the GeekShare store and US and UK retailers. If you prefer official grips, like any of the ones made in partnership with Sanrio, you can expect to pay a little more.

Jsaux is a brand all about accessories, so you can bet it has thumbsticks available. They aren't as flashy as GeekShare's adorable options, nor as they quite as focused on improving performance as KontrolFreek, and instead are a bit of a middle-ground.

At just $7.99 for a pair, the PS5, Xbox Series X/S, and Switch 2 compatible grips are the cheapest I've mentioned so far, and it gets better.

I got hands-on experience with the 'Multi-Mode Joystick & Grip Guard Set for Switch 2' which includes a set of three different grips. The first pair looks similar to the size of GeekShare grips, and doesn't add a whole lot of elevation. Instead, they're more for keeping the sticks of your pricey controllers protected by adding a tiny bit of extra comfort through the act of just being made from a softer material.

The second pair is 3mm higher, and designed to "enhance Joystick precision" and is my go-to selection of the set as it adds a tiny bit of extra elevation without looking out of place on my Switch 2 handheld.

The third pair works similarly to KontrolFreek's high-rise grips, as it adds an extra 7mm of height. Jsaux's marketing spiel states that this provides "superior aim control" which is just another way to say they also work toward improving your arc distance. These are the ones currently on my Switch 2 Joy-Con, and they've made the action-packed active battles of Pokemon Legends Z-A a lot easier to dominate, especially as the elevation makes swinging around the camera more precise than without.

Jsaux has yet to collaborate with any popular brand names, so its designs are usually all-black. If you have a Switch 2 you can grab the grips in neon blue and red colorways to match your Joy-Con controllers at least.

I was shocked when I reviewed the Corsair Sabre V2 Pro Ultralight just a couple of months ago. This is a wireless gaming mouse with the sensor and polling specs of a Razer or Logitech flagship, and yet crams it all into a 36g form factor and $99.99 MSRP. Now that it's $20 off for Black Friday, this lightweight speedster is a must-see.

You'll find the V2 Pro Ultralight available for $79.99 on Amazon's shelves this week, marking the first time I've ever seen a price cut on one of the best gaming mouse models of the year. This is a relatively recent release, so any savings are impressive - especially considering it's already offering excellent value.

Taking a look at some of the other gaming mice included in Amazon's Black Friday deals puts that price cut in even better light. The Razer Cobra Hyperspeed is still up at $89.99 with $10 off its $99.99 MSRP, while the Logitech G Pro X Superlight 2 DEX is still three-figures at $129.99 (was $179.99). Both of those are record-lows, but you're still sacrificing the low weight of the Sabre and spending more.

That hurts to say - the G Pro X Superlight 2 DEX is one of my personal favorite rodents and yes, it does sport a more powerful sensor set. However, if you're going for an ultra-low weight over specs that won't necessarily be worth it for everyday players the Sabre is by far the better buy.

Even compared to the similarly priced Cobra, the Sabre puts more of its emphasis on speed and performance over jack-of-all-trades features and still comes in $10 less.

The only thing I didn't like about the Corsair Sabre V2 Pro Ultralight is its DPI shifting. There's no dedicated button to swap that sensitivity on the fly, you'll need to hold the right mouse button at the same time as a side clicker. The only problem is I could never seem to get it to work when another function was mapped which, if you're using a mouse like this, is going to be pretty regular.

Other than that this is a Black Friday gaming mouse deal I would happily buy myself if I didn't already have one in the cupboard.

Should you buy a DualSense controller?

Console controllers can be pretty expensive, and so finding a Black Friday gaming deal that reduces the price of them is always a blessing.

Since the PS5 comes with only one controller, you need to buy a second to play with a friend. Whether you're sharing the couch for FIFA or blasting enemies in CoD, a deal lets you have a shared gaming experience for cheaper.

But it's also totally valid to buy a DualSense just for yourself. Maybe you've damaged the one your PS5 came with, or just like the look of the premium or Limited Edition ones; I wouldn't blame you, some of them are really cool.

We're also seeing Black Friday deals on some of the best PS5 controllers that aren't from Sony, so if you don't need a DualSense, you might find something cheaper. But if, like me, you really like the look of the options Sony has, these deals could be well worth picking up.

How to create the cozy gaming room of your dreams

I've been working on my cozy gaming room for quite some time, so I've learned a thing or two about how to get it just the way I want it. Of course, first on the list of priorities is the budget at hand, which is why these Black Friday deals are incredibly useful. If you don't have a lot to spend, waiting for big deals events like this one (and the Cyber Monday ones that follow) is an ideal way to get what you want and spend as little as possible.

Next, you need to consider the color and theming of your space. My cozy gaming room has a pink and white color palette, which is why I'm drawn to cute, pink accessories like the Hello Kitty and Friends Razer Ornata V3 TKL keyboard, or the pink Divoom Time Gate digital clock. Cozy doesn't always mean cute, and if you aren't a fan of bright pink peripherals, you can still grab other lovely accessories to make your space feel comfortable and more like you. For example, if you're after a cottage core type look, grabbing the suddus Vine Fairy Lights, which are down to $15.33 at Amazon, might be more your thing. I'm definitely grabbing a set this Black Friday in order to wrap around my Zelda game and merch collection to make it look like something out of the Forest Temple from Ocarina of Time.

Lastly, take note of the brands and media you love the most. I'm big into everything Sanrio and Hello Kitty, which is why my cart is full of items like the Sonix Hello Kitty Phone Stand, and the Sonix Nintendo Switch 2 case. If Hello Kitty isn't your thing, take some time to search for your favorite characters alongside the keywords "desk accessories" or "gaming accessories." You'll be surprised by just how many officially licenced items that are out there designed to make your gaming space as cute and cozy as humanely possible.

Xbox Game Pass and PlayStation Plus Black Friday deals are here, with very different discounts

A Black Friday deal that keeps giving through the whole year is a real bargain, and a discount on a gaming subscription service is just that. The two biggies are Xbox Game Pass and PlayStation Plus, and they're going about discounts in two very different ways.

According to the Xbox Game Pass discount that Microsoft is offering, super-cheap limited-time trials are the way to go, while the PS Plus discount offered by Sony instead nets you loads of money off an annual plan. It's two very different ways to offer a subscription saving on some of the biggest Black Friday gaming deals, but one saves you a lot more money than the other. Let's take a look at them below:

Save $8.99 - You can enjoy your first month of Game Pass Essential, which mirrors past Black Friday deals but feels a bit better given the recent price increases. View Deal

Save $33 - Sony's middle tier of PS Plus gets a 25% discount, which doesn't quite match the 30% off of last year, but will still save you lots of money. That's especially true if you consider the savings an annual plan generally offers anyway.

Save $52.80 - The top tier of Sony's subscription service has a 33% discount, which beats last year's price cut and saves you a tiny bit more. That's probably the cheapest we'll see it sell for any time soon.

You may notice some gaps in the deals. Xbox Game Pass Ultimate doesn't have any kind of deal, nor are there ways to save in any way beyond your first week (in Premium) or month (in Essential).

Likewise, PlayStation Plus Essential doesn't have a price cut, and the other tiers aren't reduced in any way.

Should you buy the Xbox Game Pass or PlayStation Plus?

I wouldn't blame you if you were a little disappointed by the Black Friday deals on these gaming subscription services.

After its recent price hike, many fans were hoping for a serious Xbox Game Pass discount to make subscribing a little more palatable. A limited trial for $1 might sway new subscribers to test out the service, but existing fans, or people who want a long-term discount, are out of luck.

The PlayStation Plus deal is a little better, especially when you consider how much you can save over a 12-month contract. Plus, last year saw a 30% discount across the board, so while it's a shame that the cheaper tier isn't available discounted, Premium is actually cheaper this time around.

Unlike other devices during Black Friday, there's not actually much you can do about a lack of discounts on Xbox Game Pass or PlayStation Plus, due to the companies being the main vendor of them. So if you really want the gaming subscription, you're not going to find better discounts elsewhere.

However we're seeing some really good discounts on games in various Black Friday sales, so perhaps you can skip the subscription and just buy the titles you want.

The best cheap PBT keycaps to upgrade your keyboard for under $50 this Black Friday

Upgrading a keyboard can get expensive fast. If you look into the worlds of artisan keycaps, new switch plates, custom mods, and high-end switches, a $20 keyboard can quickly turn into a $200 job. That's why I've spent the last three months of my life road testing the cheapest PBT keycap sets I could find.

You're still getting quality here; PBT is a thicker, more durable plastic than the ABS sets you'll find on budget decks. However, even the best gaming keyboards sometimes skimp out on the caps - and grabbing a fresh set can completely change the way your deck looks and feels.

There are five brands on the test bench today; Epomaker, Keychron, Glorious, Ghost Judge, and Ducky. All have keycap sets readily available for less than $50 from major retailers, all offering sturdy PBT build qualities. I'll cut to the chase, Epomaker is your best bet overall.

However, the others still have their benefits - you'll find all my notes from my journey into the world of the best PBT keycap sets just below.

I took the Epomaker Glintrix PBT set out for a spin and was immediately smitten. This is the deepest feel to all the keycaps in my testing pool, with the most resistance and richest snap to each keypress. That makes for a super precise and satisfying typing experience, and everything still looks fantastic up top.

Shinethrough caps let your RGBs do their thing, but switching those LEDs off also leaves a nicely elegant effect with these bordered legends and light gray accents. The white of this set isn't quite as crisp as others, but its creamier aesthetic works particularly well instead. I also tested a darker blue set and was impressed with the uniformity and boldness of color.

Epomaker has a range of keycap sets available, and easily picked up from a range of different retailers, with Cherry profile keys, doubleshot legends, and enough caps to suit both ISO and ANSI layouts all the way up to a full sized deck. It's also one of the cheaper options in my list, despite offering the best typing experience overall.

Keychron generally runs in an OSA profile, as well as OEM, XDA and low profile. ISO layouts are also accounted for.

This set offered me one of the easiest installation processes of the bunch, with a neatly organized blister pack and all the keys I needed for a full-sized ANSI deck (and more). Once everything's on the deck, Keychron's caps feel a little more slippery than the more textured offerings by Razer and X, and I can see why some are reporting shine after extended use here. They're not exactly the most tactile caps, but they're very well made.

A generous thickness makes for a sturdy feel with a soft sound profile. There's a relatively high-pitched clack when returning to full height here, but still a deeper key sound underneath.

I didn't pick up a shine-through set, very few of Keychron's PBT offerings use these legends. Instead, everything is printed in jet black on top of clean, white toppers.

Keychron's uneven legend weight still persists here, though, with some letters in longer caps looking more bold than others. Other legends are also specific to Keychron's own keyboard layouts, so you might need to get creative if adding them to another brand's buttons.

Glorious has a massive range of Cherry profile PBT keycaps that ship with keys for both ANSI and ISO layouts. This collection is ever-growing across a series of different block colors and gradient designs as well, with a wealth of options to choose from. I got my hands on a simple set of white caps, as well as the brand's Celestial Ice design.

These aren't doubleshot, instead opting for a Dye Sublimated legend process. That means they'll be a little less durable in the longer term and won't shine your LEDs through. However, the actual lettering is particularly crisp, with uniform printing and a clean design overall.

The caps themselves are Cherry profile, so you're in for a medium height with a nice deep curve to the center of the cap. That makes for great positioning and accuracy, though the plastic here feels a little thinner compared to Keychron and Razer. RGB lighting shows through the lighter caps easily, creating a slightly messier effect than I would have liked.

Overall, the feel is much smoother and softer than Keychron's, though. While you do lose that snap I loved so much on thicker caps, each key slides down its stem like butter and there's a satisfying amount of texture to the topper as well. It may feel like a slightly weaker experience if you're going all-in on that snap sound, especially if you're pairing it with a low-resistance switch.

Some newer and more limited edition releases can climb the price ladder up to $70, but more standard sets will keep you closer to $30. All kits are sold to cater all the way up to full-size keyboards.

The first thing I noticed about my Ghost Judge keycap set was that these are no white caps. Rather than the stark white pictured above, the Apollo colorway I ordered arrives with a dusky blue highlight on the alphas. They actually photograph a little whiter above, but you can see what I mean better in the packaging image. There's some discrepancy in what you actually get from this slightly more expensive PBT keycap brand then.

Legends feel a little more slapdash than other brands as well. The main keys are chunky, the number and function row are skinny, and there's a little blurriness around longer text.

Looks aside, though, these caps feel great. They're strong, sturdy, and have a nice click to each push. The texture is a little rougher than Ducky and Keychron, sitting more inline with Glorious's caps, but with a slightly denser feel overall. That makes for a crisp, satisfying snap with plenty of depth to the sound. It's second on

Ducky mostly trades in Cherry profile keycap sets, but only has a few on sale at any one time. I had the Fallout set in for testing, and was surprised by the vibrancy of the printing on here. From the images everything looks a little faded, but as I've learned with this brand's keyboards it doesn't go easy on color.

Expect vibrant caps and bold coloring whichever set you choose, with a slightly softer-than-usual material. I'm not a massive fan of the slippery toppers here, preferring a slight grain found in other sets. I found myself sliding around a little more than usual here. The range is a little more limited than its competitors, so you'll need to grab them on a good day.

Caps come in packs of 132, with provisions for both ANSI and ISO layouts. On my deck, though, that meant sacrificing a yellow right side, with no pipe key included in the set's yellow accent. Still, they're sturdy, thick, and a little deeper in feel and sound compared to Glorious.

How I tested PBT keycaps

I used each PBT keycap set on the same Glorious GMMK 3 full-sized keyboard for a period of two weeks. That means each set was put to work over the same daily work and play, while seated on the same switches, in the same chassis. I'm typing all day every day so they took a beating, all under my watchful eye hunting down any signs of glossing or shine.

How to choose PBT keycaps

There are a few things you might need to know before you head to checkout. Some keycap sets (though only a few) will only cater to either ANSI or ISO layouts, and some may even only offer enough keys for a particular layout (60%, 65%, 75%, TKL). Your best bet is to grab a keycap set that includes caps for both regions to be on the safe side, while also including enough toppers for a full sized deck.

There are also a number of different profiles (the shape of the cap itself) floating around. While most cheaper PBT keycaps sets stick to Cherry for its wide compatibility, some - like Keychron - stick to a more curved OEM profile. The main thing you need to look out for from a shape perspective is the stem.

If you have switches with a Cherry MX stem (a cross at the top), you'll be sorted for the widest range of compatible keycaps. Things get a little more complicated if your switches have a box stem (a literal box at the top of the switch).

Once the housekeeping is done, it's all down to personal choice. There's a massive number of caps out there all catering to different aesthetic tastes and textural preferences. Just note that not all of them support RGB shinethrough on their legends, so if you're using your keyboard in a darker environment you may want to prioritize this feature.

I appreciate that the sale isn't best known for its MTG discounts, but Black Friday can yield some gold every now and then. I present before the jury exhibit A) this absolutely bloody stupid price cut on a box of 30 Play Boosters, with 420 cards overall.

Thanks to this year's Black Friday savings, you can currently pick up the Tarkir: Dragonstorm Play Booster Box for $99.99 at Amazon instead of the $164.70 list price. Is there some wonkiness going on with the suggested MSRP there? Yeah, almost certainly. But be that as it may, there's no escaping the strength of this $65 saving. It feels increasingly rare to see booster boxes for one of the best card games anywhere below $100.

There are a few reasons why my eyes popped out of their sockets like a cartoon character at this price. Unfortunately for fans, MTG's pricing can be all over the place - retailers seem to raise or lower costs based on demand rather than MSRP, so hard-to-find products will balloon in price very quickly. That means gosh-darn genuine discounts are hard to come by. Even with the usually decent Black Friday MTG deals, this offer stood out like a sore thumb as a result.

Whether you should actually grab this booster box will depend on what you're looking for. Want as many cards as possible for the lowest cost? This fits the bill, and then some. It's hard to find such a good price on a current, Standard-legal set that launched within the last few months, and I've done the research to back that up. This is far from my first Black Friday, y'see.

As the name would suggest, those who like Tarkir as a Plane (or anyone that simply loves dragons) will also be well served by this offer. This set is crammed to the gunwales with the things.

Anyway, you'll definitely be getting enough cards to make a deck... or several. There are 30 packs in total, each with 14 cards inside, leading to a grand total of 420 overall. Phew.

The Fractal Scape gaming headset has just taken its first major discount

I've tested a fair few gaming headsets in my time, but none of them have had the premium feel of the Fractal Scape. Fractal Design is one of those "it" hardware brands that's very good at tapping into an almost minimalist design philosophy. Imagine if IKEA made luxury gaming items, and you're not too far off. It's never made a gaming headset before the Scape launched earlier this year, so I'm a little surprised that this is one of the best gaming headsets I've ever used.

Why am I telling you this? Well, Fractal's $200 gaming headset has just taken its first price cut - Black Friday gaming headset deals are upon us, after all. And if you're looking for a step up in audio quality, as well as a more sophisticated feeling headset that really feels like a treat to have in your setup, the Fractal Scape is the one I'd recommend. It's currently $169.99 at Amazon, and for audio quality this good, I think that's a great price to pay.

Save $30 - This is the first time the Fractal Scape has seen a discount since its launch in the summer. I've had the Fractal Scape in my setup for a few months now. I'll be honest, I'm a little saddened that one of my favorite features on any gaming headset (simultaneous Bluetooth connection so you can get your phone audio at the same time as your game) is missing here. You can flick a switch and easily change to a Bluetooth connection, but it'll cut out the audio from your USB device, which is just kind of annoying.

But that's hardly a deal breaker for me, because the audio quality of the Scape is just so good. I've been playing with a SteelSeries Arctis Nova 7P for over a year as my daily go-to headset, and the Scape wipes the floor with it in terms of pure audio quality and comfort. Those are two important wins for me. The main multiplayer game I play is Hunt: Showdown 1896, a game that's dependent on you using your ears to determine where enemy players are.

With the excellent detail of Fractal Scape's custom-tuned drivers, I feel like I don't have to pump the volume up to dangerous levels for my ears in order to get the detail I want. It also helps that Fractal has a handy online customization suite that lets you control the nitty-gritty elements of your audio so everything is balanced the way you like it.

I reviewed the Sony INZONE H7 headset, which, of the sets I've tested, has some of the best audio quality available - especially in mid-range devices like these. Fractal's feels even better. The detail, the balance, it all feels like a much more premium set of Bose studio headphones, not a bass-heavy and often tinny gaming headset.

I'm also a glasses wearer, and I don't feel at all as limited with the Fractal Scape as to what frames I wear while gaming. The cushioning is really comfy, and because it's plush, I don't feel aching pressure on the sides of my head when I have my glasses on underneath it. Combine that with a really convenient charging stand and some classy (albeit kinda pointless) RGB lighting, and you've got a device that feels like a mature evolution of the typical gaming headset.

If you or the gamer in your life is looking for a new audio device this Black Friday/Cyber Monday, and you know they'd love a real treat for their ears, I would point you firmly in the direction of the Fractal Scape's discount. There are few parts of my gaming setup that feel as premium as this does.

Analogue 3D restocks are happening today, but I'd try to save on N64 accessories to combat its higher price

Nintendo 64 fans have another chance to grab the Analogue 3D, as restocks will land today at 8 AM PT / 11 AM ET. The kicker is that the 4K FPGA console now costs $20 more, but I reckon you can offset that US tariff-related increase using N64 accessory discounts this week.

Analogue has confirmed that the price hike is indeed a result of US tariffs, and it means new pre-orders at the store will now cost $269.99 rather than $249.99. This is an absolute bummer for enthusiasts who missed the first wave, especially now that we know for certain it's one of the best retro consoles for N64 games, but I suspect stock will be snapped up regardless.

The good news is that these Analogue 3D restocks are happening just as Black Friday retro deals are popping off. Chances are that if you're splurging $270 on a fancy 4K N64, you'll probably be wanting some extra accessories too, and discounts could help you easily claw back the extra $20 spent on the FPGA system. The compatible flash cart I use has already dipped ahead of the actual event, and its wonderful 8Bitdo N64 controller is down to $31.49 if you opt for the white version.

Keep a very close eye on 8Bitdo's N64 controller, as I've yet to see a discount wearing that Black Friday label. That suggests to me that it will dip back under $30 for the event, and since the Analogue 3D doesn't come with a wireless gamepad, I reckon grabbing one for less is important, especially given the $20 increase on the console itself.

Thanks to Black Friday, you can now grab an easy-to-install hall effect joystick for your original N64 controller, which will help it feel more modern. This could be a solid alternative to spending around $30 on a new gamepad for the 3D, especially if the 8Bitdo pad fails to drop.

The Summercart64 recently dropped under $65, so I'm expecting it to dip to that price again as we sail through Black Friday. I'd be surprised if it doesn't, and considering it will let you play homebrews and ROM hacks on the Analogue 3D, I'd say it's almost an essential.

I've been exploring ways to hook up the N64 to modern screens for a while, and having tried everything from HDMI mods to upscalers, I still think the Analogue 3D is a worthwhile investment. Yes, it's absolutely a luxury console, but you're getting 100% region-free compatibility with original cartridges, support for OG controllers and Bluetooth gamepads, and 4K low-latency output that's unachievable via DIY methods.

Try and you might, I also think you'll struggle to replicate the look of Analogue's display filters that replicate the look of a CRT. The fact that the 3D's scanline options can make my LG OLED TV look pretty close to a large tube display from 30 years ago is frankly bananas, and it adds a level of definition and detail that's lost when using emulation or the original console scaled up.

That said, I wouldn't feel too bad if you miss this second wave of Analogue 3D units. The FPGA console's 3DOS firmware is in its infancy, and there will be features coming in the future that add screenshot functionality, save states, and improvements to its library system. In other words, if you don't end up with the 4K N64 until next year, you might end up getting a better system out of the box.

Those of you who aren't ready to spend $270 on the Analogue 3D could also experiment with the original console first. No shade to the N64, but its library isn't for everyone, and while there are undeniable gems like Zelda: Ocarina of Time, Majora's Mask, Super Mario 64, and a whole legacy of collectathons by Rare like Banjo Kazooie, its range of releases is smaller than, say, the PS1.

With that in mind, I would honestly look at just casually trying an actual N64 before diving into the world of FPGA hardware replicated perfection. If you're keeping to a very tight budget, there's no shame in grabbing a cheap HDMI adapter for $17.99 or even something to suit more consoles, like the Retroscaler 2x for around $35. The visual results might be a little soft on your modern TV since they're using the old low-resolution composite signal, but it's certainly a way to dip your toes in new setup waters.

If you are into tinkering, I would also consider HDMI modding an OG N64, especially since the Highspeedio kit I've used is under $40. It's a pretty tricky project, but if you or a talented friend is up for a bit of soldering, you could pull a cleaner signal straight from the console and output it over mini HDMI at 720p. It's far from a perfect solution, but it's a good prelude to buying an Analogue 3D.

Hopefully, those of you who are itching for an Analogue 3D will grab one today, and I'm hoping the FPGA console maker gets better with replenishments in 2026. I'd also keep a close eye on those aforementioned accessories dropping in price, as if you can grab them at their lowest, that extra $20 isn't going to matter.
