A picture’s worth a thousand words… especially if it features a gay Elvis in sailor drag.

This scattershot doc honours the humble, hand-printed rock poster.

Chaotic editing offers zero coherence when it comes to the history of the handbill, yet Died Young scores points for having tons of nutty artists like Rob Jones (who did the Elvis job) blabbing at length about everything from punk’s destructive nihilism to the hairy, ‘real’ women in ’70s porno.

It’s weird, wacky and full of arresting promo images for bands like Arcade Fire, Teengenerate and Turbonegro.

Punk may be dead but its corpse is still twitching...
