Dakota Fanning may join New Moon

As Twilight follow-up New Moon races towards its shoot date, the casting rumours have begun to swirl – with the latest suggesting Dakota Fanning is in line for a vampire role.

Fanning, who is slowly beginning to break out of her kiddie actor days and into more teen roles, has apparently been offered the role of Jane, a seriously powerful psychic vamp who guards an Italian sect.

And while it’s still at the negotiation stage, she’s been given the seal of approval of at least some of the Twilighter horde, with an online position lobbying film company Summit to give her the role.

She’s also got an inside track with the company itself, as she appears in Push for them, which opens shortly across the pond.

But don’t take it as gospel yet – other New Moon rumours have proved to be just that, with the likes of High School Musical’s Vanessa Hudgins and fellow Disney Channel alum, Brenda Song both possibles for roles.
