Stephen’s novel, The Court Of The Air (2007), commenced his Jackelian fantasy/sci-fi series, and was the first of his works to be published by JRR Tolkien and CS Lewis publishers HarperCollins. The Court Of The Air was also one of the ten books selected by the organisers of the Berlinale Film Festival for presentation to US and European film producers, and was the only sci-fi novel in the line-up. HarperCollins pitched The Court Of The Air as “Charles Dickens meets Blade Runner”, instantly earning the book a place on our shelves.
In November 2008, his second book in the Jackelian series, The Kingdom Beyond The Waves, was nominated for the long-list of the David Gemmell Legend Award for Fantasy. The third book in the series, The Rise Of The Iron Moon, was published in the UK in February 2009, and the fourth book, Secrets Of The Fire Sea, will be published 6 February 2010, perfect for the journey home from the Weekender!
Stephen has worked as a writer, editor and publisher for a number of magazines and national newspaper groups in the UK. He is also the founder of www.sfcrowsnest.com , one of the oldest fan-run science fiction and fantasy websites (as well as running www.stephenhunt.net ). Born in Canada, the author divides his time between the UK, North America and Spain. A self-described geek, his interests include computer programming, the graphic arts and collecting comics. One day he hopes to be able to have a library large enough to house all of his books.
