Nintendo Switch OLED Model - The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom Edition |AU$549.95AU$479.95 at Amazon

Nintendo Switch OLED Model - The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom Edition | AU$549.95 AU$479.95 at Amazon
This handsome OLED model edition is actually cheaper than a vanilla Switch OLED at present. Do be aware that it doesn't come with a copy of Tears of the Kingdom, because that would make too much sense, and Nintendo don't like that. Still, you might prefer this to the normal model. The dock looks pretty swish.

Nintendo Switch OLED |AU$539.95 AU$499 at Amazon

Nintendo Switch OLED |AU$539.95 AU$499 at Amazon
If for some reason the cheaper Zelda model above doesn't do it for you, here's the vanilla OLED model for AU$20 more. Amazon Australia has been selling the OLED model well below RRP for a long time now, and while it's been as low as AU$445, 2023 hasn't seen many substantial discounts. Overall, this is a  decent price for Nintendo's premium handheld console, knocking AU$90 off the RRP -- all the better to grab some of the steeply discounted games that are also on sale.

Nintendo Switch Sports |AU$69.95AU$53.10 at Amazon

Nintendo Switch Sports | AU$69.95 AU$53.10 at Amazon
The concept of "getting exercise" does not need to be incompatible with videogames, as Nintendo has long tried to prove. Nintendo Switch Sports utilises the console's motion sensing Joy-Con controllers to simulate a variety of sports ranging from tennis through to soccer. This package comes with leg strap accessories so that "getting active" doesn't need to be synonymous with your roommate copping a Joy-Con to the forehead. This was AU$44 yesterday, but this slightly increased price is still better than RRP.

The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom | AU$89.95AU$69 at Amazon

The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom | AU$89.95 AU$69 at Amazon
Here's AU$20 off the RRP for one of the most critically acclaimed videogames of 2023. Sure, Tears of the Kingdom won't win over players who were unimpressed by Breath of the Wild, but it's a marvellous physics sandbox and a gripping adventure to boot.

Fire Emblem Engage |AU$79.95AU$54 at Amazon

Fire Emblem Engage | AU$79.95 AU$54 at Amazon
A meaty tactical RPG for those who adore thoughtful turnbased combat. This one didn't review particularly well upon release, but if you're already a fan of the series that probably won't matter much. Go in expecting great combat with a not-so-great story.

Mario Strikers: Battle League Football AU$79.95AU$39.95 at Amazon

Mario Strikers: Battle League Football | AU$79.95 AU$39.95 at Amazon

It's Mario... playing football! Not conventional football though: you can use green shells to temporarily incapacitate your foes, which would not be acceptable IRL. This is a really fun local coop / PvP game, and this 50% discount makes it worth taking a punt on if "Mario football" isn't a thing worth spending AU$80 on.

Just Dance 2023AU$79.95AU$19.95 at Amazon

Just Dance 2023 | AU$79.95 AU$19.95 at Amazon

If you just want to dance, well, here's a game for it. Cost of living may prevent us from spending AU$200 at the club, but Just Dance 2023 might take the edge off a bit: it features online multiplayer, local shenanigans, and lots of laughs (lols). Note that no cartridge is included here: it's a download code in the box affair.

Mario Golf Super RushAU$79.95AU$44.95 at Amazon

Mario Golf Super Rush | AU$79.95 AU$44.95 at Amazon
When he's not beating the crap out of Bowser, Mario likes to ruin a good walk. This well-received Switch instalment supports up to four players online or locally, and even features an RPG-inspired campaign mode. This is actually a lot of fun whether you like golf or not.

SanDisk Extreme 512GB microSD card | AU$72.04 AU$64.60

SanDisk Extreme 512GB microSD card | AU$72.04 AU$64.60 (save AU$7.44)

Unless you bought it just for Mario Kart 8 (I know plenty who have) you're probably going to need to expand the Switch's drive space before too long. Smaller capacity SD cards are available for Switch but the SanDisk's Extreme 512GB will pretty much eliminate any need to stress about space. This is the second lowest Aussie price we've yet seen for this Micro SD, after dropping to AU$60 in September.

When will October Prime Day Nintendo Switch deals begin?

October's Prime Day Nintendo Switch deals will officially kick off on the 10th in Australia, running through to the 11th. However, history has shown that deals often go live in advance of "kick off", so we would recommend keeping a close eye out for discounts over the weekend before.

Do you need a Prime membership for Amazon Prime Day Nintendo Switch deals?

Amazon keeps its best deals back for its Prime members during its sales, so you will need a membership to shop the best Prime Day Nintendo Switch deals this winter. However, there are a few ways to get around this.

First up, we see plenty of other retailers looking to steal Amazon's thunder during this period, offering their own sales (though admittedly, rarely matching the lowest prices, given Amazon's behemoth-like market dominance).

For an easier life, though, we'd recommend looking into Amazon Prime free trials closer to the time. Amazon regularly offers free trials of its service around its annual sales to drum up interest.
