Zombieland writers to pen Deadpool

Pretty much bang on a month back, whispers came that Zombieland screenwriters Rhett Reese and Paul Wernick were set to script the stand-alone, Ryan Reynolds-starring Deadpool flick.

Finally, Variety have put us out of our misery and confirmed that the rumour is true.

Except that’s pretty much all we know. Aside from stating that the writing team “will stay true to the mythology of Deadpool given that Reynolds is a huge fan and protector of the property,” everybody’s staying pretty much shtum.

Which is par for the course when a project is as embryonic as this.

Terrific news, though. Reese and Wernick injected some keen, bloody humour into the zombie genre with Zombieland , so we can’t wait to see what they come up with for Deadpool .

It’s got to be better than the decidedly limp Wolverine , at the very least.

Which of the Deadpool comic book stories do you want to see given the big screen treatment? Give us a shout...
