Zoe Saldana talks Guardians Of The Galaxy

In issue 216 of Total Film magazine , Zoe Saldana tells us that she was initially confused about the Marvel-verse when approached by the mega-studio about Guardians Of The Galaxy .

Inside the issue - which is available for just £1.99 on your iPad - Saldana reveals that the idea of the guardians baffled her at first.

“I was like, Guardians?" she says. "There's a person that's a tree and there's a racoon? Apparently they fight with The Avengers. I didn't even know who The Avengers were!"

The 35-year-old actress adds that part of the reason she eventually signed up – to play green-skinned alien Gamora – was down to director James Gunn.

"He's my kind of director," she enthuses. "Animated, passionate, alive, young, fresh, full of ideas, and willing yo give 150 per cent."

Guardians Of The Galaxy o pens in the UK on 1 August 2014.
