At today's Nintendo Direct video stream, company head Satoru Iwata announced more than a few new games, including a new platformer starring Yoshi. Currently without an official title, the game is from the developers behind Kirby's Epic Yarn, though that should be obvious to anyone looking at the screens above. And the game is being supervised by Nintendo veteran Takeshi Tezuka, the director of Yoshi's Island and Yoshi's Story.

No release date was given, but based on the progress shown in the above screens, here's hoping it'll be out by the end of 2013.

I think they should just call it Yoshi's Yarn Land.

I loved Yoshi Story when I was a wee lad, so I might pick this up for nostalgia's sake.

This kinda supports my theory that Kirby's Epic yarn started out as a Yoshi game but changed to Kirby somewhere down the line. Think about how the controls were exact copies of Yoshi's moves and the world was already reminiscent of Yoshi's story patchwork and fabric style... So yes, it's a perfect fit, it it wasn't already ;)

Would this be that Yoshi game that was leaked during the launch of the WiiU? I would not be surprised.

Hmmm, I did kinda enjoy Yoshi's Story so this could be promising :) I guess I'll have to see how it looks a bit further on

Also i find it interesting how the second screen shows Yoshi in just 1 line form while everything else is full yarn form, maybe its a gameplay mechanic?
