Splinter Cell: Conviction community development manager, Chris Easton, has told Videogaming247 today that not only is work on the game well under way, but that the "visual direction is simply much better" than what we've seen so far.
CVG: Conviction pushed back to 2009-2010 fiscal year - "back to the drawing board"?
When Ubisoft didn't show Splinter Cell: Conviction at its last event, people worried a little about how the game might be doing. Fear not - the game's doing great. So great, they say, that Ubisoft just decided it'd be better off releasing it as part of its "2009-2010" lineup instead of in this year's fiscal fourth quarter. You know, to "bolster" next year, as the company said in its fiscal first quarter results statement.
As if we weren't confused enough about what's going on with the now-mysterious Splinter Cell Conviction, various websites are starting to report that Sam Fisher's lost his voice. And by that we mean Michael Ironside, cult actor and Splinter Cell series mainstay, who is now rumoured to have lost his gig as the voice of Ubisoft's stealth hero.According to Sarcastic Gamer, who've supposedly heard the rumour themselves ...

Last week reports surfaced suggesting that Splinter Cell: Conviction, the latest chapter in Ubisoft's Sam Fisher saga, had gone back to the drwing board for a drastic reworking. Now that the company's Ubidays event has come and gone without even a thumbnail screenshot from the game, a representative is ready to give us specifics on how vague things are with Conviction.
"Hi guys,
Following Splinter Cell: Conviction's disappointing no-show during last night's Ubidays press conference, Ubisoft has moved to quell speculation by claiming the game simply needs more "polishing".
CVG tracked down a Ubi spokesperson for the official line: "In reference to speculative stories that have appeared recently, in January of 2008 we announced that the game would be released in the fiscal year of '08/'09. And at this point in time we are not ready to be more specific than that. We will begin to communicate more once we feel the time is right for us and our fans."

VG247: Ubisoft has said this morning that an Xbox World 360 story claiming Splinter Cell Conviction is "on hold" isn't answerable unless it's come from an official source. Which it hasn't.
Metal Gear Solid 4? Big deal, right? Look at the Xbox 360 line-up for 2008; it contains titles like Ninja Gaiden 2, Banjo-Kazooie: Nuts and Bolts, Gears of War 2, and Splinter Cell Conviction. Oh, wait, one of those titles won't be hitting this year after all. It appears that 360 owners won't be enjoying an espionage experience this year with Splinter Cell Conviction because the title is being taken "back to the drawing board" by Ubisoft Montreal.
Ubisoft has confirmed to VideoGamer.com that Splinter Cell: Conviction, announced as a PC and Xbox 360 title, will not be coming to PS3 and will not be coming out on April 1, as previously rumoured.
The previously 360 and PC-only Splinter Cell Conviction is now also set for a simultaneous release on PS3, according major UK retailer GAME.
Game Front has a list of Q1 release dates for Ubisoft titles in Europe. The list includes titles for PS3, PS2, PSP, Xbox 360, Wii and DS. It also has price information in Euro. The list is dated 18 January, 2008.
Ubisoft has announced its financial results for the first half of the fiscal year, with sales up 52 per cent to 261.4 million euro.
Mysterious industry "insider" Surfer Girl reveals more "trainwrecks" and/or "nightmares" hidden behind the closed door of Ubisoft:
Between online product listings and Nintendo's own release schedule, it seems everyone except Ubisoft itself is convinced that the publisher is bringing its stealth-action game Assassin's Creed to the Nintendo DS.
