360 - Race Driver: GRID - GRID

“Hello, Bozo.” It’s charming enough when a game greets you every time you load it. It’s even more endearing when you can choose to be called, instead of your first name, a gently satirical nickname like Bossman, or Chief or, indeed, Bozo. The announcer sounds like she’s almost laughing whenever she says it, like it’s our little shared joke. So we’re proud to be a Bozo, and we feel welcomed. ...

360 - RACE Pro - Race Pro

Without doubt, Race Pro is going to test even the most enthusiastic of console racers and for a number of reasons. We’ve been raised and spoilt with high production, big budget, bells-and-whistles racing games for years. Need For Speeds, Forzas, Gothams, Gran Turismos and GRID have accustomed us to extremely high standards. ...

The terrorists are close. You can hear them through the door, whispering. But there are only two of them, so, feeling action-star confident, you race into the room with your assault rifle blazing. One second and a flurry of lead later, you're dead. Quickly recognizing that you're not the indestructible leading man of most videogames, you turn to your two teammates. They must be standing here for a reason... and two-versus-two sounds like a fairer fight. Ordering them through the very same ...

The good thing about movies is that you only have to watch them for roughly two hours. Conversely, the playing time of a videogame obviously equates to a longer experience, but that better be a damn satisfying one - one thats worth the sixty bucks you just dropped. Ratatouille, the latest corporate shilling from Disney to bank on the far more amazing film, brings tired minigames and boring platforming to wow children in the ...

360 - Raven Squad: Operation Hidden Dagger - Raven Squad

Europeans, pretending to be Americans, shooting South Americans. Works for Arnie, Dolph and Jean-Claude, so why not Hungarian devs Atomic Motion? They drop six mercs in the Amazon, armed with enough cliche to level a small country. It’s tacky stuff, worsened by truly abysmal vocal performances – these actors sure aren’t American. We’re not sure they’re even human... ...

As a launch title for the Wii, Rayman Raving Rabbids earned a spot in the hearts of many an early adopter of Nintendos newest system. Featuring a nifty mix of waggle-based mingames, cutesy-yet-deranged rabbits, and a limbless protagonist with a penchant for dressing up as a granny (among other things), Rabbids was universally regarded as a fun and friendly “new-gen” experience. Parents and kids across the land spent hours besting each other at dozens of rabbit-centric, hand-flailing ...

360 - Red Faction: Guerrilla - Red Faction: Guerrilla

You know what’s annoying? When you’re driving a mission-critical vehicle in GTA and somehow manage to roll it, only for it to burst into flames and explode. This game doesn’t do that. In Red Faction you can flip any car, buggy, or juggernaut back onto its wheels with a few quick nudges. It’s a small feature. Tiny. Wee, even. But there it is. ...

360 - Resident Evil 5 - Resident Evil 5

It’s impossible to overstate how important Resident Evil 4 was to the zombie-smashing franchise, and (surprisingly) the industry as a whole. Within one game it banished the shambling undead, revamped the rustic, horrid controls and pioneered the over-the-shoulder view that countless games have since taken as their own (see: Gears of War, Dark Sector, Dead Space). ...

360 - Rez HD - Xbox Live Arcade - Rez HD - Xbox Live Arcade Even if you’ve never played Rez, chances are you’ve at least heard of it. Whether it’s from a friend who played it, a friend who knows someone who played it, or inappropriate uses for the Japanese-only Trance Vibrator that came with the original disc versions of the game.  Either way, Rez is finally readily available at a very palatable price, and you owe it to yourself to try out this unique game. Rez is not quite a ...

With all the well-deserved hype surrounding Project Gotham Racing 3, it's easy to dismiss Ridge Racer 6 as an also ran; something Namco shoved out the door just to cash in on the system launch fervor. After all, the arcade-y, drift-focused racing doesn't really deviate from any previous Ridge Racer game, and the paint jobs on the non-destructible cars look more like a high-res Xbox game than a 360 racer. Not really "next-gen" at all. But turn the key and stand on the gas, and you'll discover ...
