Excellent review radar! Its one of the prime reasons why I visit this site other than the top 7 lists. BUT I wanted to point out the fact that RE5 Mercenaries mode is playable ONLINE/SPLIT SCREEN. Capcom took the issue and fixed it. Here's confirmation:
http://xbox.joystiq.com/2009/03/09/resident-evil-5s-mercenaries-mode-goes-online/
"As happy as we were to learn that "Mercenaries" mode was returning for Resident Evil 5, we were a little put out to learn that you could only play with a friend if he was sharing the couch with you. Luckily our disappointment was short-lived, as IGN reports the mode has been patched on 360 to add online play, before the public has even gotten its mitts on it. Update: A patch for the PS3 version has been released."
Guys you keep comparing RE5 to RE4 if we wanted that then we would have wanted a comparison article. Its like comparing chocolate to vanilla!( not saying that ones better then the other) RE5 is a separate game the series and sure as hell should be treated as one. I know you were trying to show how RE4 improved on RE5 which is great but focus, and this article was great and will definitely help Resident Evil fans decide if this game is worthy to buy
Wait wait wait... you guys can't think of one other game that splits the screen like that?
Not one?
Not... one...?
Seriously?
How about the game that you featured an expose' on just a few months ago, it has nazi's, and zombies, and it's Call of Duty: World at War. I was so ticked when I went to play World at War, and it split the screen like the picture shown above. When I played the RE 5 demo though, the picture was split like a normal co-op game, so I guess it must change in the actual game.
I'm only buying it because I really want the Chris Redfield Figurine and Messenger Bag in the Special Collector's Edition. I highly doubt I'll play past a few levels until they incorporate a patch that allows me to at least waddle and shoot at the same time.
That score doesn't represent the review at all. If a hyped game doesn't live up to its expectations, you guys shouldn't be afraid to give it the score it deserves.
Hmm i find this extremely dissapointing. Survival Horror is the whole point of the series and why I fell in love with it in the first place. Not only is it not on a console I have it seems I wouldn't spend money on it anyways considering my limited income and far higher priorities. I see no reason to play a series if the series is simply the same engine and not much else for similarities.
If I wanted action packed shooters or something I would get something else, not RE games.
"I'm so mad that you actually complained about having to stop to shoot.
Just... no." Well, if they tossed everything else that RE was built on and made it an action game why not make it a GREAT action game? Being able to move and shoot just makes sense, seeing as this is no longer a horror series (unless the next game proves me wrong) they should have made run and gun an option at least.
Stickguy is completely right, i'm amazed that you didn't play CoD: WaW on one tv, because it looks exactly the same as the screenshot you have, cept it has a cooler background.

I say over and over that the co-op is excellent, and the gameplay is still immensely fun, it's just not the game-changer that RE4 was. I gave RE4 a 10, RE5 is a bit lower, hence a 9. I'm on my third trip through the game right now. It's a great time.
Wow you guys are like moody old ladies. It sounds like you would complain about any little thing in the game. Like the fact you cant run and gun. Thats part of all RE games, survival horror or not. If they had changed this I bet that you guys would have started to whine because they changed it. Face it you guys aren't easily pleased. This is a great game with fun gameplay and awesome replay value. The one thing I would have liked to see is a longer story mode but because of the replay value I'm satisfied. Also why did you guys have to compare this with Gears and Dead Space? Because they are in the same genre category..... Not good nuff... Gears may have a better multiplayer but only because it was meant to have that function. RE4 wasn't multiplayer so why would RE5 be. It has co op yes but only because your partner isn't a whiny blonde bitch. That being said I think it is unfair to compare the two games that way. Yes I have rambled on for like 2000 words but only because certain things that you said in the review really pushed my buttons so I kinda had to vent lol. Other than the few picky comments it was a nicely done review and the score..... I cant argue ^_^

I'm disapointed by the look of this game. I just wanted a return to what resident evil has been about for me while growing up and thats a survival horror. Lots of shocks, panic, fear, the old resident evil games did just that and with the level of detail they can put into games nowdays, well, i'm just disapointed capcom couldn't give us that. An action game is not what i want from resident evil, i want puzzles, i want some fear when the lights go out. Just, yeah, disapointed.
Keep defending this game by saying "That's what RE is/Etc." Whatever though. I've heard many Professionals on many different sites say this is a Great Game, but fails to live up to it's expectations. See. The reason you might have thinked previous Resident Evil games were 'Scary' was because the controls were so infuriatingly frustrating.
At first this was a rent, but now I'm not so Sure.
I find it od people are annoyed by complaints of the game that are thought through. This is how capitalism works people. Games cost money if the game isnt worth the money or doesn't do what people want it wont sell. Consumers have the right to dictate what goes into their products especially if they pay for them when they could spend the money elsewhere. We may not be the owners of the license or involved directly in its creation but game developers would be homeless without our money.
It may be a fun game but it isnt resident evil if it doesnt actually follow the survival horror genre. If i wanted merely a fun game instead of a resident evil game their are many alternatives unless you have unlimited income.
