360 Preview | Prince of Persia (next-gen)

When we first saw the first concept art for a new Prince of Persia early last year, we were immediately curious as to why the Prince was sporting a face-covering scarf and metal gauntlet in place of the Dagger of Time and his usual cocky smirk. It wasn't long before the answer was revealed, though: it's a different guy. The new, as-yet-unsubtitled Prince of Persia will be another reboot for the venerable franchise, with zero connection to ...

360 Preview | Prince of Persia (next-gen)
Assassins Creed is borrowing heavily from the Princes moves, but it wont replace the full-blown next-gen platformer that the developers at Ubisoft are already crafting. After the time-traveling trilogy played out in Sands of Time, Warrior Within and The Two Thrones, this new game wont pick up where the Prince left off, but will be the beginning of an all-new saga. A Ubisoft leak gave us concept art of the new game and the only details we have on this 360 and PS3 debut so far. However, after ...

360 Preview | Pro Evolution Soccer 2008
Teamvision may sound like a meaningless FIFA term, but its actually a new “adaptive” AI system at the heart of Winning Elevens PS3 debut. The game “learns” how to counter your playing style, forcing you to exploit the pitch for gaps - making radar use vital. For example, you cant just keep running down the flanks and crossing for cheap goals. Producer Seabass believes that Winning Eleven shouldnt be played like a “videogame” which can be broken by scientific ...

360 Preview | Project Gotham Racing 4
Project Gotham Racing 3 was one of the greatest launch titles for the Xbox 360, but it wasn't much of a sequel. While the graphics were obviously sharper, the gameplay hadn't really improved from previous games in the franchise. We were simply too busy drooling at all the shiny next-gen graphics to notice. Fortunately, the developers at Bizarre Creations aren't content to shovel more of the same to their fans. That's why Project Gotham Racing 4 is being designed as a true upgrade, with ...

360 Preview | Project Gotham Racing 4
The “loose lips sinks ships” philosophy of many publishers tends to mean that many games are locked up tighter than a Quakers teenage daughter, developed almost in isolation from their fanbase. Which is why its refreshing when we see mighty teams such as Liverpool-based Bizarre Creations toil away so freely with their most loyal fans on their website, bizarreonline.net. Its the sign of a truly passionate games development team who fervently believe in what theyre creating, and not ...

360 Preview | Project Sylpheed
Aerial shooters like the Ace Combat series are in an understandably short supply. It's hard to relate to flying death machines, even if they do look badass as hell. This makes creating and pushing out a space shooting game even harder - with no Star Wars or Star Trek license to carry the action, it all boils down to piloting pretty ships through an empty void, occasionally stopping to blow something up with pretty pink-and-purple missiles. For the most part, that's exactly what Project ...

360 - Prototype - Prototype

Rightly or wrongly, hoodies have something of a bad rep - the wearers of the much-maligned garments being widely blamed for the majority of society’s ills. Thanks to Vivendi’s forthcoming Prototype, that reputation is set to get a lot worse. While the craze of happy slapping has thrown up some appalling acts of immoral behaviour, we’ve yet to see a clip where 15 people are sliced in half with a flick of the wrist. Yep, ...

Aug 21, 2007 We're not saying that Grand Theft Auto IV will suck. In fact, we think itll be one of next years must have titles. It's just that there's another awesome open-world action title set in New York (the real one) in the works that might make Rockstar take the backseat in 2008. The game's called Prototype, and even in its early stages of development, it looks ready to outshine GTA IV in almost every way. Yes, we're being serious. 1. It's new And were not talking Roman numeral four ...

New York City. A hooded figure stands motionless in the center of Times Square. It's morning and there are people everywhere. And we're not talking about the usual video game approximation of a crowd. It's a kinetic cluster of bodies merging and stirring through sun-bleached streets. The camera swings upwards revealing vast, intricately-rendered skyscrapers reaching towards a cloudless blue sky, turning white as the harsh sunlight hits their sides. This is not the compromised parody of NYC ...

360 - Pure - Pure - updated impressions

Rarely have we seen a game that made us want to throw up in a good way. Watching director Jason Avent preload up a gravel-laden peak and launch off amidst gondolas and hot air balloons in the cloudy New Mexico sky was all at once mesmerizing and lunch rejecting. The soundtrack mutes, the trash-talking rider Supermans his body while barely grasping the seat. Quickly, he plummets down to earth. Jason’s trajectory is off and the rider ...
