Sales Leap for Two Worlds Publisher (News)

Edge writes: "SouthPeak Interactive reported record sales of $40.2 million for its fiscal year 2008, an increase of 220 percent year-on-year, the company said Tuesday.

The firm attributed the sharp rise in sales to the increased number of current generation releases.

Net income was $1.6 million, up from a net loss of $866,000 a year ago."

Three new Overlord titles coming in 2009 (News)

Codemasters has today announced that there will be three new Overlord games coming out in 2009.First up, Overlord II is the direct sequel to the original evil-'em-up, in development at Triumph Studios and set for release on the PC, Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3.

"Extensions" to the franchise include the more action-oriented title, Overlord: Dark Legend for the Wii, which will feature "minion control through Wii remote movement". Overlord Minions, the third game, is a "dedicated puzzle action" title, being developed for the Nintendo DS.

Codemasters has told VideoGamer.com that the rumoured PS3 version of Overlord is merely "rumour and speculation" but has revealed that gamers "haven't seen the last of the Overlord just yet".

Reports that Overlord, a hack and slash with real time strategy elements that first appeared on Xbox 360 and PC in June last year, will be coming to the PS3 originated from Dutch website PS3 Party.

Overlord DLC heading to 360 (News)

Eurogamer reports: "Codemasters is lining up three slugs of downloadable content for Overlord on Xbox 360, and all three are due out this month. Slugs one and two are premium offerings dealing with single- and multi-player additions respectively, and the other fella is a free bonus with a new map at the heart of it."

"Codies goes on to add that PC downloadable content can be expected in the New Year. A special edition PC version of Overlord, featuring all the stuff detailed below, is on its way but only for the German market. So hang on for further details. Anyway, back to the 360."

"First up on the premium side is Overlord: Raising Hell, an expansion that introduces hell to each of the game's five kingdoms. As Overlord, you will have to conquer each world properly first before descending through a portal into the new hells, each of which houses the banished former ruler of the overworld who needs duffing up a bit more to fully impede a grisly comeback. The game unfortunately suffered from a number of bugs including a significant fault at the Brewery level that halted many gamers in their tracks. Rather than go back and repeat the adventure (taking steps to avoid the bug) many just opted to wait until the patch was released.

Codemasters just sent out a press release in which the publisher announces its Games Convention 2007 line-up. The Games Convention line-up from Codemasters consisted of playable versions from Turning Point: Fall of Libery, Clive Barkers: Jericho on Xbox 360 and Colin Mcrae: DiRT on Playstation 3.

Besides that, Codemasters will show, and release, the first downloadable content for its evil action/adventure game Overlord, which was released last month. This content will actually be huge, as a full split-screen head-to-head multiplayer mode will be added to the game when you download this content. And above all: the content is completely free!

Now word on what the multiplayer mode will be exactly be, but it is slated for a release some time during Games Convention 2007, which starts of with a press day on August 22.

Kotaku's Luke Plunkett didn't quite believe the news yesterday, so thought he'd check with Gametap. Surely they couldn't be offering all of Codemasters new/upcoming titles, games like Turning Point: Fall of Liberty, Clive Barker's Jericho, DiRT and Overlord, for free? Seems they are, with Gametap confirming today that yes, as long as you're willing to put up with the odd commercial here and there, you can play them all for free on their ad-supported section.
