Despite moving back to its old stomping grounds in the Los Angeles Convention Center, E3 was kinder and gentler than year's past. Crowds were rarely seen and game journalists were, at times, able to form the semblance of a smile by the end of the show...thanks in no small part to some very enjoyable games and a distinct drop in the body odor factor. Anyway, here are UGO's picks for the best of the best of E3 2008.
Kotaku:
Mirror's Edge from EA and DICE has been given a release date on November 11th, 2008. The first-person action adventure game is coming to the PC, PS3, and Xbox 360.
KOTAKU:
CVG recently posted the first screenshots of Mirror's Edge star Faith skipping her way through the first non-rooftop level shown, and now we've got video of it, too.
Shacknews writes: " DICE's first-person action-adventure title Mirror's Edge (PC, PS3, 360) was shown at today's EA E3 press event.

Mirror's Edge is one of those games that might surprise a lot of people. The concept is both original and ambitious, and for that, developer DICE should be applauded. However, could EA really drop this game without much in the way of build-up or a marketing campaign?
A new preview of Mirror's Edge from VGM brings up something interesting towards the end of the preview. Apparently, the game will be releasing this month, in June. Take a look for yourself:
Gamzsone V3: "According to a listing I stumbled upon while on the HMV website, Mirrors Edge is to be given an 18 by the BBFC. And while the rating is to be confirmed (as stated by the TBC on the PS3 boxart of the game), it also puts the game down for October 24th."
Owen O'Brien, Sr. Producer for Mirror's Edge and DICE sat down with X-Play to talk about the game. He explains the game is full of many things: "It's got puzzle sections, chase sections, combat sections, both armed and unarmed."
Although they have an in-house engine for the Battlefield series (Frostbite), EA DICE has gone with Epic's mega-popular Unreal Engine 3 for the Parkour-inspired Mirror's Edge. According to the development team (via Electronic Arts PR), the reason was that the Mirror's Edge project began early on in Frostbite's development, so they decided to use the more-developed Unreal technology instead.
EA has confirmed to VideoGamer.com that upcoming parkour-inspired first-person game Mirror's Edge is still coming out on Xbox 360 and PC, despite a report today on the UK-based semi-official blog ThreeSpeech that claimed it was PS3-exclusive.

Couriers make excellent use of this French style of movement as the main character of Mirror’s Edge proudly shows us:Take the hint, UPS!2) Faith's bust can't be bigger than an A cup. Seriously, anything over a tiny B and we’d be seeing cleavage from the first-person perspective.3) Dramamine prevents motion sickness and it also makes you ...

EA has released more screenshots of its surprise game of the year contender Mirror's Edge, which looks as fit as a butcher's dog.Half of the images look like artwork, but you can plainly see the look and stance DICE is going for in its "first-person free-runner", which slants heavily towards first-person melee combat - and yes, jumping across big buildings. As noted the last time we spoke about it, it's supposed to be visceral as hell with melee ...

We didn't quite know what to make of DICE's kung-fu combat game Mirror's Edge when it emerged in magazine previews last year, but after reading the latest eyes-on reports we're absolutely excited - insultingly so. It's being described as a 'first-person free-runner', basically putting you on the top of a skyscraper and pitting you against helicopters, snipers and an endless army of armed goons. Set totally in ...
