Gamezine: It's time to experience Mirror's Edge in the third-person.
EA's ambitious first-person adventure game, somewhat criticized for its clunky combat, makes its way to the PC today. Mirror's Edge has shipped for the PC to retailers in North America and will ship worldwide on January 16th. Players who purchase the PC version of the game will also receive a free copy of the Mirror's Edge remix album.
DICE has confirmed today that DLC for Xbox 360, PS3 and PC versions of Mirror's Edge will be released on January 29, 2009.
Electronic Arts is the focus of attention for both analysts and gamers as 2008 is closing. The publisher, which is already facing stiff competition from Activision Blizzard and Ubisoft, has seen worse than expected results in the last month, deciding to lay off more than 1,000 people, about 10% of its workforce, while also closing down or consolidating a lot of studios, including Need for Speed: Undercover developer Black Box. New intellectual properties like Dead Space, a space based horror shooter, and Mirror's Edge, the free running DICE developed title, have failed to make the impact that the company had hoped for.

Couldn't get enough of Mirror's Edge for the 360 and PS3? Little Effie still has our heart-strings all tied up (maybe that explains why she was always on the run) and Electronic Arts knows it. Borne Games has collaborated with EA DICE and released a one-level beta of Mirror's Edge 2D.
"The demos of Mirror's Edge and Too Human had strong online showings in 2008, but the full versions failed to captivate Xbox Live users in the same way, according to Microsoft's annual rankings of top-played games.
Mirror's Edge has won the overall award in Game People's 2008 Age Awards. Having been nominated in their Workers category it managed to accrue many more reader votes than other short listed games.

DICE announced today that all players can now unlock the Time Trial mode in the recently released demo for Mirror's Edge available at the PlayStation® Store and Xbox LIVE Marketplace. To unlock the Time Trial mode players need to select Race > Play Time Trial in the main menu of the demo, and then enter the code. Unlocking the game mode works with already downloaded versions of the demo.
2008 was a departure for Electronic Arts. The mega publisher best associated with their annual sports games and dependence on licensed products and established franchises instead released a number of original, brand new titles this year... and some of them didn't exactly light up the sales charts, Mirror's Edge in particular. Still, despite the lagging sales, EA CEO John Riccitiello has stated they plan to continue the franchise, and many other new properties, going forward.
Retail checks have been coming in that indicate EA's stylish first-person action game Mirror's Edge has fallen short at retail.
NG Writes:
This week there are no new games being released on the Xbox 360, that's right absolutely zero, so it's a perfect time to catch up on some of the recent triple A titles that you may or may not have had time to play; we list our top five after the jump.
EA have released the first screens and info on the DLC coming to Mirror's Edge early next year.
Gamezine:
Mirror's Edge, out now for the 360 and PS3, has demonstrated a tendency to divide its owners. Most reviewers in the US and Europe loved its novel action and unique visual style -- except for the ones that hated it all, of course.
Multiplayer writes "Despite suggestions from elsewhere in Electronic Arts, the game developers at DICE who made "Mirror's Edge" refused to even prototype a third-person version of their daring new game.
Mirror's Edge, a totaly new project form Dice. It is a free-running FPS, but if you want to play the game good, you don't play with the guns. Badly for Mirror's Edge, the game didn't sell well. Hit the jump to see the stats.
The sales of the new EA DICE shooter Mirror's Edge are very bad. The game sales (first week sales) in Europe are round the 30,000 and not more.
