Sonic the Hedgehog

We know it's stupid to have high expectations for a series that's aimed at 10 year old kids. At the same time, it's not unrealistic to expect that Sega could churn out a 3D Sonic game that's as good as - not better, mind you, but simply as good as - the eight-year-old Sonic Adventure. That sure as shit didn't happen last year, when Sonic the Hedgehog stunk up the 360.

On top of that, there was a GBA port of the original that was so bad we just pretended it didn't happen. Last year didn't just bring the pain on 360 and GBA; we also got the flawed Rivals and Riders. The last truly good Sonic game? Sonic Rush, in 2005.

What's the problem? How does one of the most innovative and stylish series - the one that stole success from Mario, if you can believe it anymore - turn into such a farce? The best new games are retreads of games we've played before. We long for the days when Shadow the Hedgehog was even worth laughing at. We can only hope that Sonic and the Secret Rings uses the power of the Wii to turn things around.

How come game makers even bother to make sequels if the suck? Do they think that gamers are drooling morons that will blindly buy anything that bears the name of a game that they enjoyed? If you're going to do something, do it right. It also doesn't make much business sense. Games only make money if people buy them and anyone who knows anything about games generally don't buy crap sequels. So why make something peopl aren't going to buy? It doesn't make any sort of sense at all.

Months and years later, we get amazing Megaman 9, the Battle Network has died and been replaced by Starforce, Sonic still sucks, DW: Strikeforce is said to be the best DW and is being ported to 360 and PS3, Tomb Raider still sucks, and Viewtifull Joe is now in another vs. Capcom game.

If anything I disagree with Nutt on,I hate Power Up and ZX because they look too cartoonish while X series was great till 6 where everything went downhill very fast (5 wasn't great, but not as bad as 6) and 8 was shit.

Christian Nutt probably got a lot of hate mail and "I told you so!!!!!" emails because of this.
