SmackDown! confidential - part 2

The Yuke's team gets frank about their plans for bringing wrestling into the next generation of gaming

Words: Mikel Reparaz, GamesRadar US

Do you see Sony's new motion-sensitive controller as something you could potentially implement in wrestling games?

TC: Well, I just touched one for the first time yesterday, so I haven't had much time to think about it. But one thing I did notice is [Warhawk] ... after doing that, and getting used to using the controller like that, I went over to play Gran Turismo, and my hands just sort of naturally... [mimes controller tilting]. And I was like, "Wow, this is boring." I think it's one of those things that after you play with it awhile and get used to it, that people probably expect certain amounts of input from that, so we'll be thinking about how we can use that in the game.

While we're on the subject of the PS3, have you given any thought to content that could be purchased online?

CM: That's a publisher question. We consider a lot of things like that. We have no set plans at this point.

Are you disappointed by the controller's lack of vibration?

HF: We didn't know that!

TC: Wow, that stinks. In a lot of games, vibration can add so much. Just like, you walk around here at E3, and the floor's vibrating with bombs going off and stuff... it can really add a lot to a game to have vibration. So I'm kind of disappointed that they won't have vibration in their controller.
