Prince of Persia: Epilogue (review)

Improved platforming, same old combat

Words: Matthew Pellett, Xbox World 360 UK

What the buggering heck is this? 800 MS points just to see the ending of a full-priced game? Ubisoft must be joking. Thankfully, hurtling through a subterranean superstructure at blinding speed it’s clear our new Prince has at long last found his calling. His journey’s still routinely held up by repeated boss fights, but Ubisoft has at least acknowledged that all the Prince is good for is running and jumping into situations without a plan, and has created a long, linear, trap-filled temple that finds new ways to test your acrobatic reflexes to complement this fact.

Despite a new running attack, the combat remains clunky and the lack of light seeds is a shame (the replacement Fresco light plates aren’t very tough to find), but Epilogue is worth picking up solely for the tough platform sections that go as far as to actually shame those found in the main game. That we’re asked to pay extra for the privilege remains an insult.

Though a Valid point with the Combat, if you didn't like it in the first place, why get the DLC for it? Simple as that.

what really pisses me off is that I heard it's not coming to the PC. I paid the 50 bucks for the game, I want my fucking ending you vile pricks at ubisoft.

That's disappointing but good to know.

Yeah Synster...what are you thinking you douchie. Just kidding.

Anyways, I actually enjoyed the DLC. Though it is pretty short, it kept me interested with the newer harder platforming and the great relationship between the Prince and Elika. The fact that they ended it that way only makes me love the game more. But I've probably become a fanboy now so...

Also, it still has replay value for me (at least a little). I'm trying to get the Platinum trophy for the whole game and I didn't get all the trophies on the first playthrough.

I still think the best thing of the persia monkey this time is the character building, and the dynamic between the two. I agree the platform is a bit harder than the original game, and the boss fight is frustrating...(you're basically fighting the same thing over and over and over again...I got really tired when I have to fight that mountain king/hunter hybrid the third time, it's annoying and cheap). But still, I enjoy the game, and I think it worth 800 points. Although I have to admit, I'm a bit disappointed to find out there's no ground to revive...it's dark and groomy all the way.
