Marvel vs. DC: the games

Which superhero game is right for you? Marvel Ultimate Alliance or Justice League Heroes? Look no further

Super powers

Hal Jordan's power ring making a meat grinder that crunches enemies, or Captain America ricocheting his shield off of four AIM soldiers? Zatanna turning her foes into rabbits before dispatching them with an pulse of mystical energy or Thor calling down lighting to roast his opponent before destroying it with a blow from Mjolnir? There are just tons of super powers at your disposal in both these games.

Justice League Heroes: Mad props have to be given to Snowblind for tackling two comic book characters that are tough to adapt to a videogame: Zatanna and Martian Manhunter. Both characters are ridiculously powerful and the developers did an outstanding job at conveying this. All the characters in the game feel unique, with the exception of the three Green Lanterns... who play exactly the same (shame on you, Snowblind!). There are a wide variety of powers at your disposal and they all feel unique and right.

Marvel Ultimate Alliance: Raven was a bit lazy in this department. A lot of the powers are rehashed from the X-Men Legends games and even more of them feel very "cookie cutter." There's no reason Dr. Strange should have the same ability as the Scarlet Witch (X-Men Legends II ). Very few of the characters have truly unique abilities. There are exceptions of course, but too many of the characters feel samey. Daredevil, Elektra, Moon Knight and Black Panther have very different fighting styles in the comics, but not in this game.

The Winner: Justice League Heroes for the win! The game could've taken it just for Zatanna and Martian Manhunter, but it does a number of cool things with all of its characters. They even beefed up Green Arrow to the point where you believe a man armed with a bow, arrows and a bad mustache can save the world.
