We’re in for one of the hottest winters on record, and not just because of global warming. The sheer quantity and quality of games coming out before January completely boggles the mind.

Nothing, however, is as huge or important as the release of Halo 3 this September. The trilogy capper to one of the most successful videogaming franchises of all time is almost guaranteed commercial success. Okay, okay, it is guaranteed. But just because Halo 3 will be the biggest seller doesn't mean it will be the best game this holiday... or even the best shooter. That honor could go to BioShock.

Hold on, fanboys, hear us out. Perhaps you've heard of BioShock, the "genetically enhanced" shooter that came out of nowhere to capture the public's attention and the critics' adoration... the shooter that's received unanimously perfect scores... the shooter that's already sitting on store shelves awaiting your purchase and enjoyment. Yeah, icon or not, Halo 3 now has a high bar to surpass.

Too high, according to GamesRadar's Senior Editor, Joe McNeilly. He asserts that BioShock will emerge as this year's better game and he's got the unassailable manifesto to prove it. The only thing standing in his way is Xbox 360 Editor and Halo defender Charlie Barratt.

Halo's weapon system was not the first to use the 2 weapon rule. I remember playing nightfire before halo and it's multiplayer had an option for "Professional Mode" (2 weapons).

Oryandymackie, you are a fucktard. The only good thing about Halo is multiplayer? Well, shit, I guess you forgot about the fucking campaign. Oh, and the map editor. Oh, and the filesharing. Oh, and the DLC. I could go on, but I feel I've sufficiently pointed out your jackassery.

With that said, I do prefer Bioshock but not for retarded reasons like you do.

Halo 3 was good. But that's just it, it was good, not great. It was Average and everything it did has been done before dozens of times and a lot of times it was done better. Bioshock was basically System Shock two which was kind of saddening but it was still an amazing game, the only problem may be that after you got enough plasmids and tonics even a Big Daddy was just a minor inconveniance when you saw a little sister.

Halo takes this one hands down.
i loved bioshock, LOVED it. but i have, so far, not bothered to go at it again. Halo 3 i have completed about 5 times, and countless hours spent on the multiplayer.

Halo also has a better campaign, and better story. if you have any problems with halo's story, claiming halo has none; please read the books. its story is huge, immensly so.

and i have to date not played an fps with more fine-tuned controlls than Halo. CoD4 is up there as well, pretty much a tie.
Bioshocks i didnt really care too much for, not fluent enough.

bioshock has awesome design, but the graphics look like melted plastic. kind'a clay-like if you will. and the big daddies? they werent hard at all?! maybe the 2 first ones were a little tough, but after getting a little experience; free adam harvest and little sister-slaughter. even the hammer-brutes in halo are harder.

Halo was, and is, not only good, but awesome, groundbreaking, reveloutionary and the story is totally huge and compelling. the books were really good, except "the flood" which was just a book-version of the first game.

Halo Ftw.
only game that beats halo is Kingdom Hearts.

I agree with TENAXIS multiplayer has always been in halo anyways. And Bioshock has a WAY better storyline. I havnt even bothered to finish Halo a second time.

Halo sucks, Bioshock rocks. It may not have multiplayer but come on, it is freakin awesome. It can almost be aligned into real life, halo: aliens attack yea thats going to happen, Bioshock is like just too cool.

Story: It really does come to a close call but.....I have to go with halo with its long history. Setting: Bioshock wins with no doubt. Art: Bioshock wins again for the OUTRAGEOUS graphics and art. Multiplayer: Halo wins.....you know that. Combat: Now it comes so close It's hard for me to choose....but....I think Bioshock wins in its originality of combat and game play of plasmids, strategy's, and combinations of those strategy's. NOTE: usually people who say halo sucks probably never played Bioshock. so further ado Bioshock wins in my opinion. Winning by 3/5. Really close call.

Even though it's a MATTER OF FUCKING OPINION- it isn't fact whether Halo 3 or Bioshock is better than one another because they are both vastly different games with vastly different intentions.

To put into context, this feature is like comparing (Both released in 1999) System Shock 2 and Half-Life: Opposing Forces- the first is a game that has inspired a legacy that to this day has not been filled and the other is a over-glorified expansion that you had to pay for.

However, both were GREAT games in what they did and comparing each other IS like comparing apples and oranges.

Fucking fanboys...

yeah, "blankpixelsCG" I might have forgotten the Halo singleplayer, I think I fell asleep at the beginning, or actually just played the game MELEEING enemies because the shooting sucked so bad. Or researched Halo because the story is so messed up. I love Halo 1&2, but compared to a monolith like BioShock, Halo 3 loses.
Have you ever had a moment in Halo like the moment in the beginning of BioShock, when the lights go off, and that's a real "OH NO" moment.
Go home.

basicly i think that halo 3 is good but it is to simular to halo 1 and 2, Its mostly the same storyline and enemies boiShok as Oryandymackie said in halo 3 you just dont get that "OH NO" moment
